The Legend of Shen Li

Like Legend of Shen Li, Legend of Fuyao features a strong female lead with mystical powers who is on a journey of self-discovery, love, and responsibility. Both dramas have a focus on a devoted love story.

Key Points: Strong, independent female lead, martial arts, power struggles, and a deep romantic relationship.

This drama also features a complex, slow-burn romance where the leads have to navigate their responsibilities in a politically charged atmosphere, just like in Legend of Shen Li.

Key Points: Political intrigue, strong female lead, devoted love, and responsibilities.

One is the drama, the other a variety show with the cast (somewhat) in character in a different setting and plot.

Both are historical/fantasy stories with Lin Geng Xin and Zhao Li Ying playing opposite each other as the main couple.

Both these dramas are different because while The Legend of Shen Li is a xanxia, Are You The One is a costume drama.

Yet, they hold some similarities in that we get to see nice scenaries, the FL are capables and smart while the ML can be quite manipulative and secretive.

The biggest similarity for me, is that we get to see the main lead couple living together and leading a mundane life early on in the drama.

Warning though: One and Only has a brutal ending, watch it at your own peril.

What I think is similar in both is the maturity between the couples. They understood each other so well.

While Shen Li & Xing Zhi bickered a lot, they still respected each other. Zhou Sheng Chen respected and treated Cui Shi Yi with a lot of care. They get their happy ending in the modern times (in the sequel Forever and Ever).

Both dramas were gold with leads that care for each other more and were willing to deal with their problems together. Even when they were being crazy, there were no silly misunderstandings but genuine care for each other.

One is Xianxia, the other focused on revenge but both are solid in terms of leads, they are all beautifully written and enacted. Shen Li & Jiang Li both have a strong will, whereas Xing Zhi and Xiao Heng both treasured their lovers.

Both dramas have leads the initially test each other's patience but then later go all out for each other. There is no use of the silly misunderstandings as a plot device. In both the ML are played by terrific actors. The FL in Royal Rumours is not as famous as Shen Li's FL but she is a hidden gem.

Born into the immortal realm, Shen Li, a powerful general, rejects a forced political marriage in favor of fighting for her freedom. Injured, she reverts to her phoenix form and falls into the human world, where she is bought by the sickly Xing Yun at a market. This fateful purchase binds their destinies, and love blossoms.

Determined for revenge and the truth, she defies Natural Law, with her love for Xing Yun becoming both their strength and a dangerous taboo. As secrets unfold, can they defeat evil and save the realms, or will their love be their undoing?

Both of the dramas have a very high budget production and CGI which makes Fights looks supercool ... FL in both dramas are more than badass ... both of them involve mortal and immortal arc ...
