Brilliant drama with great actors
I love this drama. Although I was a little confused by the beginning (first few minutes) and the mediocre sound quality on Youtube (background sounds are way too loud), I became addicted in no time.Zhao Liying and Lin Gengxin really rule this drama. They play quirky characters that will stay in your head after watching the drama. And the chemistry on screen is just fantastic! Personally, I'm also glad that it's a drama with two great actors in the lead roles who are not teenagers, because you can tell that they have experience and acting skills that some protagonists in C dramas sometimes lack.
The plot is really intricate, but not too complex to make you lose track. And what I also love is that there is not a single flat character. All characters undergo a certain development or have some surprises in store for you.
Really, this is one of the best Chinese dramas I have seen in a long time! And now go an watch it ;)

More of the same
Let me start out by saying that the synergy between the ML and FL was amazing, just the way he challenged her and looked at her was convincing enough to assume they could be on a certain level in a real life romance ( Not likely however ) . That being said, here we go.....One of the silliest and ridicules drama series I've ever watched and no, I couldn't take anymore past ep 21. I understand that this type of television program is carefully crafted and engineered to cater to a specific audience complete with the overdone music queuing every two minutes in order to manipulate the viewers emotions and that's fine if you like this sort of thing but please stop tagging these series as wuxia, they have absolutely nothing to do with martial heroes. I've made the same statements about other series as well.
I really do like Zhao Li Ying and I get that she helped produce this but stories like this are not only becoming unbearably common but they are also becoming increasingly annoying and predictable. Now lets break it down a bit from the perspective of who would have an interest in this.
We have another super female lead who want's to act like a man, lead the troops, kicks everyone's ass and assumes authority in everything, out drinking with the soldiers and basically putting herself in every situation that involves being one of the guys.
The entire theme of this series is , I am Super Woman. But it doesn't stop there because she's also so amazing that she has the number one general ( who is clearly younger than her ) pining away after her, pouting and acting jealous toward other men, confessing to her while she snubs him so on and so forth. But , that's not enough because the supreme god of the universe is also in love with her lol. and of course he should be the one because no one else is good enough for Super Woman.
Wow she's just so amazing and sadly so unbelievable at the same time. But this is why these stories have to take place in a fantasy themed world as it is because lets face it , men in real life aren't attracted to women that act like men and while the writer has created some interesting works in the past like " The Legends " for example, the ever popular strong female lead theme is getting played out to the point of being silly.
I love a strong female lead and love them even more if they're displaying amazing fighting skills but this " I can do anything a man can do and do it better" is just not providing anything positive to the audience. I mean the FL was really the only man in the story, I literally had to stop watching when all of the soldiers got on their knees and started crying in front of her.
So the difference between this kind of industry cheese and and an actual story that has depth and meaning to it is becoming increasingly clear the more I come across these mediocre television programs. Guys, you can do better. Just ask yourself one question, why have Jin Yong's works been adapted relentlessly time and time again even up to this day. I love the wuxia world and to me the wuxia world is historical but also timeless. Go watch "I am nobody " and figure it out.
In which case, I'll leave this mediocrity to those who are better suited for it.

A romcom pretending to be a xianxia
The most irritating drama I've ever watched to its conclusion - and that only because of the main leads. Still a wasre of time.Major defects:
1. For long stretches, especially in the early episodes, it's a tedious romcom
2. The more seriously romantic episodes are invariably underpinned by lengthy, saccharine singing - an increasingly common feature especially in Chinese drama
3. The "action" relies heavily on massively overused CGI - to the point where it's completely ludicrous (also highly repetitive), Actually one can't help laughing at the numerous mass CGI battle scenes, which are really just padding.
More or less OK:
The plot is conventional for this type of drama, but not partcularly well executed (and of course the staging is ridiculous).
Only postive aspect:
The two main leads. Occasional faint echoes of "Princess Agents", which makes the whole thing even more depressing. They should have made PA Season 2 instead of this rubbish.
And one final point: The (to me) absurdly high rating from the community demonstrates once again that there is a strong bias towards romcom, which those averse to it have to take into account.

XIANXIA IS BORING
Lets start with the thing i like; the musical background really is on another realm. The human war cry when female leas marched to war especially, was made so good.Lukewarm things I found in this drama is probably the side characters. I feel no attachment towards them or any of the main characters, really.
Moving to the things i did not like, maybe bcs I just finished "Blossom" which was full eith humane intricacies and monarch toppling that is full wih realism, i find divine being love story to be boring and unrelatable. Zhang Liying, the female leads acting reminds me of Yang Mi. So deadpan with no actual microexpression. You can be pretty and elegant, but also expressive. Is it because of botox?
The CGIs are ridiculous... i can not take the talking birds and phoenix seriously. Also dropping this drama bcs i found i like Mofang more than the male lead... could never let myself be subjected to second male lead syndrom....

TBH I don’t know what I was expecting.
First off not a huge fan of ZLY. I could never get into any of her other dramas other than the one with FSF. However, I tried to like this one due to people being happy she was back with Kenny. Since her princess agents days. But, man I dropped this drama at episode 14. I got tired of the back and forth with both leads, the comedy. There were times when it was too much giggles and humor moments than storytelling. Some of the characters were uninteresting mostly the leads. I only liked the Mo guy who was her second in command and the heavenly grandson. Both were a joy. The highlight for me was them and the music score as it was pretty good. Especially with Liu Yuning singing OST. How can it not be. Would I watch it again. Yes, but for only 1-14 or maybe less than that. Happy for those who loved it but this wasn’t my cup of tea. Not sure when I’ll be able to love a ZLY drama.Was this review helpful to you?
The Legend of Shin Li
This is a different costume drama that gets you hooked from the get-go. I am on Ep. 8 and my interest has not wavered one but. I love the dry humor that I totally understand and have laughed on several episodes. I love both male and female leads, and I feel her attraction to him. I am not quite sure if I feel his attraction to her or if I just expect it. It will be interesting to watch how it unfolds. All the actors in this drama are very attractive and are good at their parts.Was this review helpful to you?

Another disappointing series from this girl... Not sure on how 8.6 ratijng can come... both look old.. so even the charm factor is missing and bad storyline....Stopped watching at the end of 3rd episodeIssues of this show - in the first 3 episodes, a formidable general who is feared by immortals decides to fight because she is forced into marriage..... Wow .. so what's the point of immortal world...we should call it a demon world ... So lets say its demon world and this girl who is awesome falls in love with a very weak Hero character because he can cook well and ... Give me a break... Is she an idiot that's one of the most formidable character in Immortal realm... when you say someone is God like character - please work on your script... to make them look smart... A weak hero is not your answer but someone is wise or powerful enough .. waste of money in graphics and actors compensations

A waste of a good story
The premise of the story is about a female GOD who due to some collusion lost her powers and vanished somewhere during the fight and an immortal GOD who in turn is living in a village on earth as a mortal but with issues like him being sick...I was interested because the description and the poster looked beautiful however the story became stale very quick. There was nothing intriguing to keep the viewers guessing since from ep 1 the main lead figured out who she was and they were saving people already which i felt was too soon as we did not even have any backround information on the characters. During the day it was nothing going on albeit there was some funny part here and there but it was very repetitive.
Also in my opinion, the actor of choice does not match what is needed for the story, he lacked the mannerism and built for me. As a God he seemed very very frail to the point that if the wind blows a bit he would be knocked off. Now i understand he is sick but i think for a supposed GOD even in low point they have some type of presence that you can feel/tell by their expression , how they talk and carry themselves which he had none. The color grading is way too strong, the CGI is awful in certain part and the way that chicken looks is going to give nightmares for days

Effetti speciali quasi hollywodiani che lasciano indietro tutto il resto....
TRATTASI DI UNO XIANXIA DAGLI STRAORDINARI EFFETTI SPECIALI E MUSICHE MA CON UNA STORIA D'AMORE TIEPIDA TIEPIDA e con una storia principale vecchia quanto il mondo.Non capisco le valutazioni così alte di questo lavoro, a meno che non si considerino gli effetti speciali il valore reale, complessivamente è 7,5 !
Leggendo per capire cosa mi fosse sfuggito ho capito che molte valutazioni alte sono degli spettatori orfani di Princess Agents, un drama del 2017 che lascia in sospeso la storia d'amore tra i protagonisti. Ecco perché qui, essendoci delle tenerezze e un happy ending sono tutti appagati... ma per me che non ho visto PA e mi sono accostata a questo xianxia da zero posso dire davvero che manca di tante.... troppe cose e la storia d'amore è il tallone d'achille di questo lavoro, forse anche più di una storia noiosa e con tante sbavature , buchi narrativi e scelte non plausibili.
Gli ingredienti sono in qualche modo sempre gli stessi: tre regni, lotta di potere tra sette immortali/dei divini e clan demoniaci, guerra tra il bene e il male, romanticismo teorico, amore proibito angosciato, triangolo con il pretendente rifiutato malvagio-sofferente /appassionato, sacrificio di sé, finale (pseudo) triste e resurrezione come definizione del finale felice. NIENTE DI NUOVO QUINDI!
Enfatizza solo la dolce storia d'amore senza però renderla credibile e soddisfacente ad uno spettatore attento mentre viene smorzata molto la parte di lotta e contesa del pretendente rifiutato. Per quanto riguarda la trama, non c'è niente di distintamente nuovo. Per questo motivo, la storia è noiosa. Inizia allo stesso modo e finisce in modo simile.
PRO: Ottimi effetti speciali , il migliore tra quelli finora visti e ne ho visti parecchi! Alcune ambientazioni ricordano il pianeta Pandora, altre Dune. Tutti lavori di pregio nella storia del cinema. Come sempre tallone d'achille gli animali, sebbene la piccola fenice sia stata resa molto bene ma leoni, volpi e altri animali sono stati fatti maluccio.
Ottime le musiche e i costumi, specialmente quelli femminili e quelli dei generali dei demoni, qualcosa di nuovo che non avevo ancora visto, in parte tribali, ricordano un po' colori e tagli balcanici o esotico thai.
Le musiche sono il vero cavallo di battaglia di questo lavoro, diverse dalle classiche cantilene lamentose, sono forti, ipnotiche, quasi new age alcune, e folk scozzesi , quali la sigla, altre. Danno l'impressione di qualcosa di nuovo e diverso.
Peccato che con questi prodotti di grandissimo pregio poi gli sia stata accostata una storia poco sviluppata e un romanticismo tiepido , rigido e coartato. Salva la serie il rapporto tra i genitori della protagonista, delicato, vissuto, viscerale, intenso. Dove c'è una falla incredibile a livello di intensità loro in due episodi mi hanno regalato qualche emozione inappagata dopo 30 episodi che illustrano un amore poco convincente. L'attore Xu Hai Qiao è sempre all'altezza e spero che gli diano presto qualche parte da protagonista, la meritava più della protagonista.
CONTRO: Purtroppo hanno sacrificato la storia, sia in termini romantici che a livello di narrazione, gli attori sono troppo distaccati e mancano di trasporto emotivo, le emozioni sul volto sono congelate e l'intimità molto trattenuta, anche se si scambiano tenerezze, sembrano una coppia matura che sta insieme da almeno 10 anni. Vedrete qualche intimità a fine serie ma non è libera, travolgente e si tratta dell'ultimo episodio che molti dicono essere inutile ma io l'ho trovato spassosissimo e ho gradito guardarlo.
Poi la relazione tra i due segue un ritmo particolare: mentre è lei che sviluppa chiaramente e dichiaratamente sentimenti per il ML quando questi cede lei sembra chiudersi a lui, invece di donarsi col trasporto di chi non aspettava altro (in teoria). Questo mi ha anche deluso oltre alla totale assenza di chimica fisica tra loro.
Altra nota dolente sono i dialoghi tra tutti gli attori, insulsi, privi di spessore e riflessività, vagamente introspettivi e troppo banali, e questo poco si confà con la tipologia di divinità mature che hanno voluto proporre.
Anche i pretendenti di lei sono tutti ragazzini in confronto alla protagonista che si vede essere una donna matura, infatti il loro accostamento mi è sembrato parecchio ridicolo (ovviamente non mi riferisco al ML).
Tostissima la figura del generale Shen Li, la donna più forte, potente, finora vista in uno xianxia, peccato che non abbia saputo mostrare l'amore fisico e il trasporto per quest'uomo sebbene a parole sembri molto presa.
Lui invece è molto virile, affascinante, apprezzabile la figura di una divinità sorniona, indolente, distaccata; secondo me, ad un certo punto, però, delle emozioni più di impatto doveva un po' mostrarle, considerata la partenza, per contrasto avrebbe affascinato e soddisfatto lo spettatore che era in attesa che questi due si lasciassero andare.
Un po' lenta la visione, alcuni episodi nella parte centrale noiosissimi , la storia non brilla per originalità, apprezzabile però che abbiano riservato uno spazio alle origini della protagonista con una digressione sui genitori negli episodi finali.
CONTRO: La trama è il punto più debole di questo drama. È un vero peccato, perché questo drama ha un'introduzione ORIGINALE di FL e ML e delle loro dinamiche relazionali che poi si perde trascinandosi per 30 episodi. ML è l'ultimo dio antico che si annoia per la sua vita solitaria e la sua lunghissima esistenza. Gli piace il regno mortale per sperimentarne la vivacità e la giocosità. È indifferente alle cose. Ha davvero un potere immenso, è affidabile e imbattibile in ogni battaglia, perché è il dio supremo. E FL è un generale donna. È molto forte, matura, altruista, orientata al successo e pensa al quadro generale. È un'eroina feroce e assetata di sangue. È interessante notare che, nel profondo del suo cuore, vuole essere accudita come una donna normale e avere una vita normale. Questa è stata una premessa molto interessante MA, questo drama manca di esplorazione delle loro dinamiche psicologiche e relazionali (conflitto interno) con dialoghi al limite dell'assurdo. Non c'è omogeneità tra la parte comica che è presente in buona parte del lavoro e la parte drammatica, rendendo tutto un po' too much, poco credibile in definitiva.
UN BUCO NARRATIVO è stato il potere di questa divinità , in teoria immenso però ....dove va a finire la sua saggezza di aver vissuto per decine di migliaia di anni? Dove va a finire la sua onniscienza? Le sue capacità di prevedere le tragedie che vedrete sullo schermo ? Le aveva come mortale e non come Dio? XD XD XD (LOL).
Poi alla fine non è ben chiaro che fine faccia l'antagonista universale e se questo benedetto abisso lo vogliono aprire o far collassare e non si capisce perché , e normalmente io comprendo anche dei film complessi , Nolan è uno dei miei registi preferiti ma qui la trama è talmente debole che non ci sono spiegazioni per le scelte intraprese.
Interessanti le figure di Furong, che compie un interessante percorso di crescita ed evoluzione interiore e della venerabile Jin , un mostro ambivalente dai tratti femminili con un potere immenso e molto scenografico che si innamora della protagonista (nel romanzo cui il drama si ispira).

Drama não
Que drama meus amigos e amigas.Assisti sem ler nada a respeito e encontrei com uma história madura, cheia de sentimentos, e reviravoltas que me prenderam do início ao fim.
Os dois protagonistas trouxeram algo novo, o romance adulto sem ser vulgar. Eles conseguiram mostrar que o amor "tudo crê, tudo sofre", mas vive entre eles.
A Zanilia mostrou a mulher guerreira, destemida, e também o lado da mulher apaixonada por Xingzhi... cenas finais que impactaram dentro de mim.
Já o Lin Gengxin mostrou uma resiliência como realmente um deus deve ser.
A química com a Zanilia foi fantástica.
Amei demais esse drama

Xianxia et romance d’immortels...
The Legend of Shen Li jongle habilement entre ces genres avec des personnages matures. L’intrigue manque d’originalité, tout comme ses personnages. La structure est similaire à celle de la plupart des xianxia et elle ne présente pas de concepts inédits. Néanmoins, il se révèle engageant dès son premier épisode, malgré un milieu extrêmement long pour un final satisfaisant.L’histoire commence par Shen Li, Seigneur du Ciel Azur. S’opposant au mariage politique avec le fils de l’empereur céleste, elle se blesse lors de sa fuite. Elle tombe dans le monde des mortels et prend l’apparence d’un poulet (ou plutôt un phénix hybride). Il ne s’agit pas d’un poulet ordinaire, c’est évident ! Elle est sauvée de la lame du boucher par un mortel malade, Xing Yun. Il n’a de mortel que son apparence, étant donné qu’il s’agit du dernier dieu du royaume des immortels encore vivant.
Les personnages occupent une place centrale. Leur romance est très lente tout en correspondant au rythme de l'histoire. Cependant, j’ai trouvé le couple principal un peu trop idéal. Shen Li et Xing Zhi ne rencontrent pas de conflits qui mettent à mal leur amour. De même quant au fait que les autres dieux aient été punis d’être tombés amoureux, mais pas Xing Zhi. Tout cet amour interdit pour finalement voir Xing Zhi comme une exception. Pourquoi ? On l’ignore… En revanche, l’arc de Liu Yu et Feng Lai était brillant. Cet arc m’a happé par la force émotionnelle de ce couple, mais aussi son impact sur le monde des immortels. J’aurais volontiers échangé de nombreuses longueurs de l’histoire pour le Roi des Chimei.
Ensuite, le personnage de Mo Fang (Xin Yun Lai) clairement sous-estimé. Le pauvre gars ne sert que de réceptacle pour un chimei et son père. D’ailleurs, le personnage manque cruellement de charisme lorsqu’il est possédé. Contrairement à l’assurance et l’attraction qu’il dégage en tant que général de l’armée de Shen Li. Au même titre, les antagonistes sont des archétypes décevants. Les méchants sont méchants, point. De plus, il est dommage de voir certaines morts passer inaperçues. Les méchants meurent et c’est tout. La mort de Mo Fang est sûrement une des pires, d’ailleurs.
Les CGI sont très jolies et généreuses. Les costumes sont très beaux pour la plupart. L'OST était un peu répétitive, notamment le thème principal de Shen Li. Enfin, les figurants auraient pu être mieux dirigés, cela aurait évité de les voir en fond en train d'échanger des coups dans le vide, littéralement.
En bref, The Legend of Shen Li est un xianxia qui présente certains défauts, mais qui reste intrigant grâce à un excellent équilibre de ces genres, malgré un manque d’action.
