Strong Plot and Action, but Awkward Romance Setup
Legend of the Female General starts off with a promising plot and an impressive female lead. The fight scenes are well-choreographed and one of the drama’s strongest points, showcasing both skill and style. I especially enjoyed how the FL was portrayed as capable, playful, and determined — she carried the story well. The romance, however, may feel a bit awkward for some viewers. Since the ML initially sees the FL as male, certain “chemistry” moments come across as forced and less natural. To make it more distracting, the disguise isn’t entirely convincing — she looks clearly female, which makes the setup harder to buy into.
The pacing is another mixed point. While there are many exciting moments, some episodes drag on with filler and side plots, slowing down the momentum. That said, the drama shines when it leans into its strengths: action sequences, light comedy, and the developing chemistry between the leads.
Helpful Tips: If you enjoy historical fantasy dramas with a strong heroine, good action scenes, and romance at the forefront, this will likely be enjoyable. But if you’re expecting deep political intrigue or tight plotting, you might find it a bit stretched.
Overall, it’s an entertaining watch with a solid female lead and exciting fight scenes, though not without its weaknesses in pacing and romance setup.

Strong Start, Emotional Ending… But Not Without Some Weird Moments
Shadow Love hooked me right away — the pacing was great in the beginning, and the story had a strong emotional pull. Cheng Lei really stood out as the male lead, especially once the shadow puppet powers came in. Those scenes were visually cool and added excitement to the plot. But when he turned into a child, I was honestly uncomfortable. She’s an adult, and he was suddenly a little boy lying next to her. Thankfully, that part didn’t last long and was handled better than expected — but I still wish it wasn’t included at all.
The main couple had great chemistry, but the deeper kiss scenes were awkward. The lip movement felt stiff, which pulled me out of those big romantic moments 🫣. On the other hand, the second couple stole my heart, and I’m still mad we didn’t get a kiss from them!
Visually, the drama is stunning, but the music didn’t work for me. It lacked emotional impact, which is a shame since music usually sets the tone for me.
Despite some flaws and filler in the middle, the ending was worth it. Emotional, satisfying, and left me glad I finished it. If you enjoy fantasy romance with depth and healing, give it a shot — just be ready for a few bumps along the way.

A Beautiful Escape Full of Magic, Loyalty & Heart
I’ve rewatched Alchemy of Souls: Season One multiple times now — and it still gives me chills. From the very first episode, I was hooked. The storyline is action-packed, exciting, and full of twists, but what truly sets it apart is the heart behind it all.The chemistry between the entire cast is phenomenal — especially the main leads, who brought a mix of tension, playfulness, and deep emotion to every scene. You could really feel their bond evolve, and it made their journey so immersive and believable.
But it wasn’t just about romance. I loved how the friendship between the main group was portrayed — honest, loyal, and supportive. In a world where envy and betrayal are so common, it was refreshing (and healing) to see characters who genuinely wanted the best for one another. No backstabbing, no jealousy — just real friendship in a fantasy setting.
And maybe that’s what made this drama so special to me. It gave me a chance to escape from the harshness of the real world. A fantasy shouldn’t be too realistic — it should feel like stepping into a different universe where love, loyalty, and magic can still exist. Alchemy of Souls did exactly that.
Highly recommend to anyone who wants a drama that goes beyond action and romance — this one touches the soul.

Visually Stunning but Falls Short on Story and Chemistry
The Story of Pearl Girl drew me in at first with its beautiful production — the costumes, set design, and cinematography are truly top-tier. The world feels rich and immersive, and the premise of a woman rising from hardship to independence is powerful and inspiring.Where it struggles, however, is in execution. The pacing drags in places, with too many scenes focused on style over substance. The plot doesn’t always flow logically, and some character choices feel forced rather than natural.
Another weak spot is the romance. While both leads are popular and talented, the chemistry here doesn’t quite land. Many moments that should have been emotional fall flat, making the love story less engaging than expected.
That being said, if you enjoy historical dramas with a strong female-centered journey, gorgeous visuals, and elegant atmosphere, this is worth checking out. Just go in knowing that the story isn’t as strong as the production, and the romance may not meet every viewer’s expectations.
Verdict: A drama with breathtaking visuals and an ambitious concept, but uneven storytelling and lackluster chemistry hold it back from reaching its full potential.

Still Thinking About It… and Still Watching Every TikTok Clip
I didn’t expect Moonlight Mystique to stick with me the way it did — but here I am, weeks later, still thinking about it. And every time the theme song pops up on TikTok, I have to watch every single clip on my FYP. That’s how much this drama got under my skin. The romance and chemistry between the leads was so well done — full of longing, tension, and emotional pull. You could feel their bond evolving in every scene. I know a lot of people watched for Bai Lu (and she did great), but for me? It was Ao Rui. He absolutely embodied the role of Fan Yue, the cold and powerful Demon Lord who carries the weight of duty, grief, and hidden softness. Guarded at first, but slowly unraveling as he connects with Bai Shuo — his character had so many quiet layers, and Ao Rui brought it all to life. Also… let’s be honest — he’s got that look 😍🫣.
The fight scenes were also a highlight. Stylish, emotionally driven, and beautifully choreographed — especially the ones involving shadow magic. They added meaning beyond just action.
Was it flawless? No. The ending felt rushed, and some side arcs (like the fox clan) dragged a little. But the main story, character depth, and emotional payoff made it worth every minute. The OST still hits, and every time I hear it, the emotions come rushing back.
If you’re into fantasy with a powerful, emotionally guarded male lead who falls hard for a strong female lead, if you love romantic fantasy dramas with emotional weight, strong character arcs, and gorgeous visuals, this is one to check out.
I’m already thinking of rewatching it — and that says a lot.

A Magical Romance with Unforgettable Chemistry
Love Between Fairy and Devil is one of those rare dramas that combines stunning visuals, emotional depth, and captivating chemistry. The story has a strong fantasy foundation, but what really sets it apart is the way it balances romance, humor, and heartbreak so seamlessly. The leads delivered outstanding performances — Dylan Wang embodied the cold, powerful yet vulnerable Devil perfectly, while Esther Yu brought warmth and charm to the Fairy. Their chemistry felt genuine, and it carried the drama through every twist and turn.
The production quality is top-notch: breathtaking cinematography, beautifully designed costumes, and an OST that fits every emotional beat. While some episodes felt a little slower than others, the pacing overall was solid, and the emotional payoff more than made up for it.
This is a drama I’d easily recommend to anyone who enjoys fantasy romance. It’s memorable, rewatchable, and leaves a lasting impression long after the final episode.

Strong Start but Dragged-Out and Inconsistent
Prisoner of Beauty had a plot that really caught my attention in the beginning — the setup was strong and full of potential. Unfortunately, the pacing slowed down too much as the episodes went on, and I felt the story could have been told with fewer episodes. This made parts of the drama feel repetitive and even boring at times. The male lead started off with a character I found engaging, but later on, especially after marriage, he felt much softer and less consistent with how he was originally portrayed. This shift in personality made it harder to stay invested in his character arc.
Overall, it’s a drama with an interesting concept and a powerful start, but the drawn-out execution and character inconsistency lessened the impact for me. Worth watching if you’re curious about the premise, but don’t expect a tight, fast-paced ride.

Visually Stunning but Emotionally Flat
I really wanted to love Fangs of Fortune, but after 20 episodes, I had to drop it.Let’s start with the good: the production is undeniably beautiful. The set design, costumes, and especially the dance number at the end of each episode were genuinely a highlight for me — elegant, haunting, and one of the most creative touches I’ve seen in recent dramas.
But beyond the aesthetics… the story just didn’t hold up.
The pacing was slow and bloated, with too much talking and not enough actual plot movement. Characters would stand around explaining things for ages, yet I still felt emotionally disconnected from most of them. The romance didn’t develop naturally and felt rushed or flat. Even the fight scenes — though stylish — lacked impact because I wasn’t invested in what was at stake.
By episode 20, I realized I was watching out of obligation, not enjoyment. The mood and tone were dramatic, but without the depth or tension to back it up. Honestly, it felt like a case of style over substance.
I’ll give credit where it’s due: the OST was lovely, the vibe was immersive, and the visuals were strong. But for me, that wasn’t enough to carry the whole drama.

I Watched It… But Only Because of the ML ?
I watched the entire Dear Hongrang series, and I’ll be real — it was a drag for me.The only reason I stuck it out to the end was because I liked the male lead, and that’s only because I loved him in Alchemy of Souls. Otherwise, I probably would’ve dropped this halfway through.
The female lead just didn’t click with me at all. I couldn’t connect to her character, and the chemistry just felt… flat. 😬
And then there’s the storyline — the whole “long-lost brother” returns, and then suddenly there’s a romance brewing (even though they’re not related)… yeah, that was weird. I get it technically, but emotionally it just didn’t work for me. I couldn’t get into it. Felt forced and off-putting.
On top of that, the pacing was slow. Way too much posing and dramatic staring instead of actual fighting or momentum. Scenes that could’ve been over in 2 minutes were dragged out just for aesthetics.
Visually, it had some nice moments. But overall, style couldn’t save the lack of substance in this one.

Sweet, Breezy Romance with Heartfelt Chemistry (Some Hang-Ups Included)
Hidden Love is a light and heartwarming youth romance that captures the fluttery innocence of a first crush. What makes it stand out is how real and relatable the emotions feel. Sang Zhi’s journey from an innocent crush to a more mature relationship is portrayed with sincerity, and Zhao Lusi brings her usual warmth and charm to the role. Chen Zheyuan matches her well, giving the male lead a grounded and caring presence. Their chemistry is one of the biggest strengths of the drama and makes the romance feel natural and endearing. The tone of the series is breezy and comforting, with humor and family moments that keep it from ever becoming too heavy. The OST is also a highlight, fitting perfectly with the youthful, romantic vibe and adding to the overall atmosphere.
That said, Hidden Love is not without flaws. The age-gap setup—with Sang Zhi crushing on her brother’s older friend—will be uncomfortable for some viewers, even though the show handles it gently and makes sure the romance doesn’t begin until she’s grown. The pacing can feel slow, especially in the early episodes, and some plot transitions feel a little rushed or underexplained. Viewers who want a fast-paced or deeply complex story might find it too simple or stretched out.
Helpful Tips: If you enjoy sweet, slow-burn romances with great lead chemistry, family warmth, and a feel-good atmosphere, this is an easy recommendation. If you’re sensitive to the age-gap premise or prefer more tightly written plots, you may want to skip.
Verdict: A charming, comforting romance with strong performances and an emotional core that resonates—best enjoyed for the chemistry and cozy vibes rather than the logic of the plot.

Epic Romance with Humor, Action, and Heart
The Legend of Shen Li was such a joy to watch from start to finish. I loved the balance of comedy, romance, and action — it never felt one-dimensional. The fight scenes were especially well done, with the female lead showing both strength and charm. Her chemistry with the male lead was undeniable, making every interaction between them a highlight of the show. The story kept me hooked with its mix of fantasy adventure and emotional depth, and I appreciated how it didn’t rely solely on romance but gave room for character growth and exciting world-building. The humor also added a refreshing touch, keeping the tone light even in intense moments.
For those considering watching: the drama does have a few slower episodes in the middle, but the payoff is worth it. If you enjoy strong female leads, well-choreographed fight scenes, and a romance that feels both playful and heartfelt, The Legend of Shen Li is a must-watch.

Disappointing and Dragged Out
I started Destined because of the eye-catching poster on iQIYI — it gave the impression of an intense, emotionally driven historical romance. Unfortunately, the drama didn’t live up to that promise.By episode 18, I completely lost interest. The story felt slow, drawn out, and lacking in emotional pull. The pacing was uneven, with far too many meandering plotlines and side characters that didn’t add real value. I expected something gripping, but the chemistry between the leads and the actual romantic development just didn’t hook me the way I hoped.
For a drama that visually looks polished, it lacked the narrative depth and momentum to keep me engaged. Honestly, the promotional material was a bit misleading — it made the drama seem much more exciting and dynamic than it actually is.
I can see why some viewers might enjoy the slower, character-driven pacing, but this one wasn’t for me. I dropped it at episode 18 and don’t feel like I missed anything major.

Alchemy of Souls Season 2: Light and Shadow

My First Ever 10/10 Rating… and It Deserved Every Point
Season 2 of Alchemy of Souls was everything I’ve ever wanted in a fantasy romance. I’ve rewatched it multiple times already and will continue again on every long flight— it just hits different.I know a lot of people had mixed feelings about the female lead being changed, but honestly? I loved it. It made the story even more powerful. Watching the male lead fall for someone who looked completely different but carried the soul of his past love was so intense. You could feel his conflict — the way he tried to push her away, hurt her with words because he felt guilty, like he was betraying the woman he once loved… but he couldn’t help being drawn to her all over again. That tension. That longing. That pain. It was perfection.
And let’s talk about him — the male lead was untouchable. No one could beat him. Not even once. And that’s exactly what I want in a fantasy hero — someone who’s strong, unbeatable, with zero weaknesses except for the one woman who makes him feel again. She was the only one who could reach the heart he had buried. Ughhh I LIVED for it!
I also loved how the friendships evolved in this season. Just like in Season 1, there was no jealousy, no betrayal — just pure loyalty and deep bonds. Everyone wanted the best for each other. That kind of friendship is so rare to see in dramas, and it made me love the world of Alchemy of Souls even more.
✨ For the first time ever, I gave full stars in every single category on kisskh. That’s how much I loved it.
Season 2 wasn’t just good. It was legendary.
