Boring.....

As a huge fan of xianxia and zhao lusi I have been waiting for this drama for such a long time but all of my expectations got nothing in return as I am watching episodes and now I can't really continue anymore..
There is my second time I start watching this after holding for such a long time because on the comments are really encouraging but a story is really really boring after 20 episodes I really wants my time back which I spend on this drama ...
I think they should have spent some more time on post production because CGI is really bad 👎👎..
In terms of background music this is drama has nothing special I have very high fiction record in ancient Love poetry the music is the thing I love the most. . .
I will say you should not waste your time on this one.. unless you have very much time or you are a die hard fan of zhao lusi...

Never seen a show that made me cry so much

This show in one of the episode made me cry so much that it's unlike before. To add on this show when you watch it you can't stop watching; be ready to binge watch this over nights and days. In some of the episodes you might feel it's uninteresting but then it's what builds to the next part that would get you eeking like a screaming baby. Unlike most other historical dramas which i have seen this one contains wording which express what the characters extremely clear. Some people might not like this show cause of so many scenes that get you worked up over nothing but it's what makes the story have a spontaneous essence.

Gu Jin / Quan Yi is the most selfless man. ?❤️

*** Spoiler Alert (PERSONAL FEEDBACK)
Title : The Last Immortal – 2024 (Complete 40 Episode)
Personal Rating : 10/10
*Long post and reaction ahead*

Gu Jin / Quan Yi is the most selfless man. 🥹❤️

A Yin / Feng Yin (played Zhao Lusi) A Yin is a water demon beast with healing internal core which can cure any immortal or make them powerful. And Feng Yin is a Phoenix Queen and the spirit beast of True God.
Gu Jin / Yuan Qi (Played Wang Anyu) is the son of True God Di Juan and True Goddess Yi He. For some unknown reason Yuan Qi lost his God power when he was young and his mother sent him down to the Lower Three realm to gain experience as Gu Jin with the help of Daze Mountain Sect and cover his true identity.

The story revolves around the complex relationship of A Yin and Gu Jin while retrieving the immortal spirit of Feng Yin which was scattered in the three realms because of an incident cause by Gu Jin. While retrieving the spirits and roaming around the three realm they met their 2 best friend Hong Yi and Yan Shuang. In the midst of chaos (due to Immortals & devils greediness) and collecting of Feng Yin immortal spirit A Yin and Gu Jin fell in love with each other. A Yin fell first but Gu Jin fell harder. Rest was history.

I think most of us have high expectations on The Last Immortal that is why some of the people are already disappointed from the beginning and it is somehow connected to the Ancient Love Poetry that is why they can’t stop comparing it. Personally, I dropped Ancient Love Poetry three times so I thought I would not understand the TLI since they said it’s a sequel but so far, I understand it and I am enjoying it. I think of it as a stand-alone drama like any other drama to enjoy it.
In my opinion, the earlier episodes was understandable. Gu Jin and Ayin act like a kid and immature because they are still young according to their immortal age. Gu Jin is currently 210 years old only. He is inexperience, he is pampered by the disciple around him, he is not even a junior immortal (he is not powerful yet that is why he have the umbrella thingy to protect him) and A Yin just transformed to human form 6 months after hatching so she doesn’t know much. She is still learning. They are young immortals like babies that’s why they act like that, not unlike matured immortals who are 1000+ years of age. They are both exploring and learning.

Some viewers said the Yuan Qi is very weak for a true God when he already got his God power and spirit. Yeah! I got you! I feel the same way too but there is a reason why he is weak which they show in the last episodes. When Yuan Qi got his true God power and spirit the first thing he did was to retrieve the Daze Mountain sect and its disciples. He used his 9/10 God spirit to retrieve them that’s why he is weak and remember he even used half of his God power to make the Elixir for A Yin. From the beginning of this true God accession Yuan Qi already exhausted his powers and spirits. And let me remind you he is YOUNG true God ( he is just turning 1200 years old ). He doesn’t even know how long he will live that’s why he is like that to A Yin too. He wants to confine A Yin in Qinchi Palace because that is the only way he can protect her due to his lack of power. The last 1/10 of his God spirit was used to revive A Yin immortal spirit through Blood Lotus. From then on Yuan Qi is just sustaining his power from the chaotic power of the spirit sword that’s why he is disappearing. He didnt tell anyone the reason of his weakness. And the last straw of his act of selfless is when he sacrifice his chaos origin to seal the abyss prison. As the God of chaos, his Godhood can’t exist without his origin. It means he can’t come back.

Well that’s it! Joke! He came baccccckkkk!!!!! He was revived by the 1/10 of his God spirit that is with in A Yin, together with the devil origin of Devil God and Goddess Yi He power of chaos.
What I love more about this drama is the friendship of the 4 of them. It was genuine and without any judgement. They always protect and willing to sacrifice everything because of their friendship. They trust and listen to each other despite of the other realms separating them because of their positions and realms. And I love how the three realms tried their best to bring Yuan Qi back.

Overall, it is 10/10 for me. I want more of it. More of them. I love Yuan Qi! His selfless character. It is a breath of fresh air for me since the ML is weaker that the FL. Zhao Lusi and Wang Anu chemistry is one of the best. They are very comfortable with each other. Wang Anyu’s acting was so good. He literally act weak to the point that it irritates some viewers because that is what his character is. I just can’t move on from Yuan Qi’ selflessness and love for A Yin! 🥹🥹🥹💕💕💕
👏👏👏 salute to all the cast and crew!

Review and Analysis of The Last Immortal and Its Impact in the Xianxia Genre

I've been thinking about how to approach the review of this drama. I don't want to describe the plot here, so I'll focus only on certain facts.

Th Last Immortal is a drama that was the first xianxia drama I really enjoyed. It can be said that it opened the door to this genre for me. Why is that? Because Last Immortal was very refreshing for me; the drama flowed nicely, and I enjoyed every second of it. There's no need to talk about the acting performances – Zhao Lusi is already a good actress, and Wang An Yu, along with the others, complemented her very well.

Regarding the storyline, as I have already written, everything was understandable to me, though towards the end, I would have liked more twists.

I really appreciated and enjoyed the costumes and hairstyles, which reflected the different phases of the characters well, from the playful and childish A Yin to the brattish, spoiled Gu Jin. As the characters developed, the hairstyles and costumes were, of course, appropriately adjusted.

Below, I focused on four parts and selected three main key points from each. This doesn't mean that I couldn't find more points in some areas, but I wanted to highlight only the key ones.

The main strength of both dramas is exceptional acting performance. In particular, Zhao Lusi and Wang An Yu are outstanding in their roles and significantly contribute to the success of these series. The stories of both dramas are captivating and unfold in richly created worlds, with deep and interesting characters. The visual aspect, including costumes and hairstyles, adds to the authenticity and immerses viewers in the story. Additionally, The Last Immortal builds on the previous work "Ancient Love Poetry," which expands the fan base and opens new horizons in the xianxia genre.

Despite their strengths, these dramas also have some weaknesses. TLI is strongly linked to ALP, which might be an obstacle for some ALP fans, as it might not have met their expectations for the drama's development. In some parts of TLI, there may be a lack of complexity and depth in the story, which some viewers might consider a shortcoming. Differences between the book and the TV adaptation can also deter some fans.

The drama offers a number of opportunities for further development. There is great potential to attract new viewers, especially those who are not yet familiar with the xianxia genre. The interest in the characters and the story offers an opportunity for modern adaptations, which could appeal to a wider audience and bring new dimensions to the genre.

TLI faces competition within the xianxia genre, which is full of similar themes. High expectations from fans and comparisons with classic works of the genre can be a challenge. The ending of "The Last Immortal" evoked mixed reactions among viewers, which can affect the overall impression and recommendations. For some viewers, the end of the drama might be a challenge or an opportunity for another sequel.

Extra episode?

Wonderful production with amazing artefacts and exceptional acting of the casting in general! One of my top 5! I wish there could be a special episode with the lives of our beloved couples after all the difficulties! Fox emperor and eagle queen with children, phoenix empress and divine lord happy with kids too and matchmaker fairy with the heaven emperor... Will they truly be together? As we saw, they are connected by red thread... Some little questions which would be great if they were solved in an extra episode...

Apaixonante

Ignore the hate and the negative reviews for this show.

Deserves a Much Higher Rating in My Opinion

The Last Immortal is exactly the kind of xianxia I love. Initially, I hesitated to continue after the first episode because I read the reviews and saw some spoilers, but I’m so glad I decided to return to it.

This drama features all the classic xianxia elements: stunning costumes, a talented cast, good CGI, and genuinely heartfelt acting. The ensemble is truly remarkable.

If you made the mistake to read the reviews first, and they deterred you from starting this drama, I recommend to set aside any preconceived notions about the main male character you may currently have. I know last couple of years have given us some pretty damn good male leads, but they can’t all be possessive demon gods there should be room for other type of characters as well.

If you've watched dramas like TTEOM or LBFD, where the male lead is intensely flawed or vicious, approach The Last Immortal with a fresh perspective. This drama’s narrative focuses on a group of young, naive individuals navigating the world, making mistakes, and growing in the process. It’s a coming-of-age story that beautifully illustrates their development as they confront challenges and learn appreciation as they mature.

The central narrative revolves around a young man Gu Jin burdened by the weight of responsibility of being a true god, torn between his love for someone and the expectations placed upon him. Alongside him, A Yin, who is in fact not what she seems, faces her hardships and emerges stronger when her time comes. We’re introduced to a family dynamic steeped in manipulation, particularly a father who coerces his daughter into nefarious actions. The story also explores bonds formed between unlikely allies and the consuming desire for power—timeless themes of good versus evil.

I particularly enjoyed the camaraderie among the four leads. Initially, I felt A Yin should choose Hong Yi. Because I mean that guy was hubby material, but I guess because he was too young and too impulsive he came on too strong. But as the plot unfolds, it becomes clear why her fated match is meant to be. Plus, Hong Yi has his own love story, which develops nicely throughout. I wished the secondary couple had more scenes earlier on, but their relationship becomes increasingly engaging as the series progresses.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this show. I've learned to not let reviews dictate my viewing choices. The acting is stellar; there’s no slow pacing, and no dull episodes. It captures the quintessential essence of a xianxia C-drama, brimming with fantastical elements and intricate scheming.

I do agree with the sentiment that the ending for the main couple could have been more fulfilling. While it’s a happy ending, it doesn’t quite match the joy of the secondary couple’s conclusion. Despite this, their relationship was adorable, and I felt satisfied with their happy ending—quite a rarity for me, as I usually don't invest in second couples.

In conclusion, I believe The Last Immortal is an underrated gem that deserves higher praise. I’ve seen some lackluster dramas out there, with much higher score and poorer quality. I think if you said you’re expectations aside and keep an open mind you will enjoy this drama. For me personally, the drama is worth watching when I need to go to sleep and I keep telling myself another 10 minutes for the next two hours. this one was exactly like that.

Not my favourite but pretty good

I enjoyed the series but I would say definitely not my favourite. I had stopped at ep 14 and continued watching only after the new episodes till ep 40 were released.

I like the story but I honestly didn’t exactly feel too invested in it. ZLS and WAY’s chemistry was really cute. My heart broke for them a couple of times.

In my own biasness I will admit the whole “hurting you to protect you without communicating it” really bothers me as much as I understand it was out of love.

I generally watch anything ZLS acts in because I adore how good an actress she actually is. But this wasn’t my favourite work of hers. She looks absolutely stunning in the different outfits. And I love how cute Water Beast Ah Yin is. 🥰 Yes alot of people complain about her cutesy voice but seeiously it didn’t bother me bc she is supposed to be cute. I rather listen to her than someone else dubbing her voice.

Watch it if you have time. But personally it wasn’t one that I will want to rewatch right after finishing.

One of the best of its genre and sure to be an instant favourite for many.

As someone who watched and loved Ancient Love Poetry shortly after its release in 2021, as soon as I heard that a sequel was in the works, I was already excited. A little nervous, perhaps, since ALP delivered so much that I wondered if the next in the series would be able to follow or build upon the existing material in a satisfying way. Yet I needn't have feared.

If anything, The Last Immortal not only builds upon what Ancient Love Poetry established, it gives such an extension of growth to its universe that, truly, I ended up loving the sequel even more. Which is high praise indeed, considering ALP is very much one of my favourite c-dramas' from the last few years.

The Last Immortal follows the story of Shang Gu and Bai Jue's only child, Gu Jin (Yuan Qi) during his time throughout the Heavenly Realm. His True God powers have been sealed, and after an accidental event that causes the Phoneix Immortal's essence to shatter and scatter across the three realms, Gu Jin and the little water divine beast he hatches, A'Yin, work together to gather the pieces of her immortal essence.

I never once found myself bored watching this show. The pacing felt natural and engaging, with enough development with the different plots that were going on to keep me wanting to watch the next episode and find out more. There are so many interesting and fun characters too, a few of my favourites being the fox demon Hong Yi, the ghost realm's brother's Xiuyan and Aoge, and the Eagle Princess Yan Shuang. Truthfully however, there is no one in this show that I felt was annoying - even the Phoneix clan's father and daughter duo were compelling to watch.

One strength this show has is that everything feels as if it has a purpose. There are side plots that are introduced early on that seem as if they have nothing to do with the larger story, yet it isn't until later on that you realise they are incredibly important to the plot and have been included for a reason. A perfect example of this is the Ghost realm. One of my favourite realms in the show and perhaps the most interesting, it felt so satisfying to see certain characters within it return later on down the line and to know that they were always supposed to be a part of the story. That they weren't just added in to aid the main characters in their own goals, but they had their own story and purpose for being there.

I will warn any future viewers that are coming from Ancient Love Poetry however that The Last Immortal can be a bit confusing, and this is simply down to the way that the drama chooses to change the names of mentioned characters that appear in ALP. Shang Gu and Bai Jue are installed called Yi He and Di Juan. Xuan Yi is called Ming Qi. Thankfully, there is a thread on this site that explains the names of the characters that are featured in both shows, so do take a look if you find yourself confused or just wanting to know whose who (https://kisskh.at/discussions/shen-yin/121769-shen-yin-the-last-immortal-novel-content-and-its-connection-with-ancient-love-poetry).

All in all, if you are a fan of xianxia, The Last Immortal is definitely something you should check out. A fantastic story that is well acted with a talented cast of actors, and with features some beautiful visuals and a great soundtrack. Do give this show a chance - you may just find yourself leaving a new favourite!

Like it but have a problem

From what I can understand ALP and last immortal were made by different people, I mean the directing crew. So I guess they had to change some names due to copyright or something. But I would like to see last immortal made by the same creators of ALP since it would be less confusing and more logical. Especially if you have seen ALP already you can understand. Like I want to see original feng ran in place of feng yuan. Chang win in place of hong rup. I would like to see that bai jue and shanggu will be mentioned by their names.. heck even get to see them even if it's a cameo appearance. Just Saying.
