Rewatching a show at a new point in my life
So I had been an avid reader of the webcomic Yumi's Cells by Donggeon Lee till its ending back in 2020. I loveeee Kim Go eun and try to watch everything she's in and it was such a gift that a webtoon i loved so much was going to star one of my favorite actor.I started rewatching Yumi's cells a month ago after going through a breakup (i used to fangirl about the webtoon back in 2020 with that person so this show hits hard) and this show has been comforting me for the last month. I just wanted to come here to say how beautiful of a story this really is. Maybe its because its my comfort show but even so, looking at the things Yumi goes through at the end of the seasons and how she handles it through both the seasons and grows has helped me look at my own situation in a better light. There might be Wung shippers, there might be Ba Bi shippers but at the end of the day the line in the show, " There is no male main character. You're the only main character Yumi" hits home. This show is Yumi's cells and watching a character develop through relationships, career changes is just so refreshing and wholesome.
Cant wait for the third season. the casting line up is also so exciting (if what ive seen online is accurate).
Definitely recommend rewatching this show when you need a pick me up or a little comfort corner.

I would keep watching it if it was not for the romance with Yumi and babi which is going to end. I was hoping that the ML would not crush her heart . In the end he does. yes she may find another guy but I was all for the babi cause of his sweet nature. It tunes out in story they him hurt her in the end. I understand the it is 14 esp and i was only on 8 but they could have made it last even after 8 just with a little help with challenges in life like any other couple. I do like the acing in this. Don't get me wrong this is a great show and i was so into it from the start and i do have my preference as to what i like. This does not end the way i would want it to. This is my personal pref at how i rate this. Was this review helpful to you?

A MASSIVE LETDOWN, poor writing, and even worse new male lead!
After the interesting 1st season, the second one was disappointing to say the least.I can only name like a few positive things about this season. The biggest one is when this irritating Bobi guy weren't around. I just can't understand why people on MDL keep saying, they're on his side and he's the best. Maybe all of you are GOT7 fangirls, I don't know, but if that's the case, don't rate Kdramas, please!
They had ZERO chemistry with Yumi, it was a physical relationship since day 1. The guy acted like a typical perfect, handsome and kind dude, but he was anything but that. HE WAS A REAL PLAYER! He may look handsome, but Yumi were still in a relationship when he started flirting with her in the 1st season. You just don't put your coat on a woman, especially if her boyfriend is there, doesn't matter if he's drunk or not. And when they broke up, the first thing he did was asked her out when she only broke up with Woong like a couple of days ago. Or at least, I that's what I thought, because we hardly got any info about how many months passed. I didn't get why Yumi started dating with him so soon, anyway. She didn't have anyone for 3 years after her 1st boyfriend cheated on him, and they were together for 7 years, I think.
The other thing is that the minute they started dating, Bobi already was on a speed dial, I thought he's gonna do the nasty with her in the car. Who the hell does that? I'm not a prude at all, but he was a completely different character after they started dating. And let's not talk about the fact that he basically cheated on Yumi. YES, it was (emotional) cheating. If you don't feel anything for another woman, you just don't move away because you're afraid of seeing her again. How old are you, 5?
And this wasn't even the worst thing he did with Yumi! He lied for a whole week about where he was, he broke his leg, but didn't tell her girlfriend, because he didn't want her to worry? Then, 1 minute later, asked her to marry him, and she said yes? WHAT THE ACTUAL BLOODY HELL? Who the heck does that? Both of them were crazy, for sure.
You can say whatever you want about Woong, he wasn't perfect, no one is, but he never cheated on Yumi, and he only lied about his company. That's a fixable problem. It's understandable why he felt, he's not good enough for her, even tho Yumi never cared about that, and honestly, their whole break up was nonsense. If Yumi wait for 5 minute, he would've said yes to her proposal.
Honestly, I can't believe I say this, but Ruby was the best character on the show and with Control Z they were so funny.😂
If there's gonna be another season, I'm not gonna watch it, unless if it's about Yumi and Woong, because I don't see the point of watching another season with another guy.
I already skipped most of the animated parts because it was boring and irritating. It only felt fresh and original in the 1st season. The writers overused it, and we saw the same scenes multiple times as well, that was also ridiculous.
I don't even remember when was the last time a Kdrama made me this frustrated.
Big potential, big letdown!

Double Standards
I tolerated the behavior in Season 1 (which I gave a 10 because it was fresh and new to me) but I can’t stand the fact that Yumi is soooo picky with men! She has some valid reasons for breaking up in the past but her issues with Babi were totally unfair especially since she didn’t even talk them out with him. No one is perfect. I know it’s essentially her story but she’s very stubborn and has her ways about her. I dropped it because I feel like Babi didn’t get a fair chance especially since he was the most caring of her bfs. I don’t wanna waste my time. Was this review helpful to you?
so disappointing it ended up NOTHING PS.I hope there is no season 3. If it still happens like this
The story was going well, but when it was ending, it was disappointing that nothing had ended in self love, it was boring, overall, it was good that they had chemistry, that's why they broke up, that's why I'm even more annoyed, why is it so irritating? with this acting, the good promise is gone, the story line is not really good, the ending is annoying, I wish it was good, but there is no ending. I wish I hadn't watched it so I wouldn't have been hurt. It's really annoying. I hate self love (this is not include lfhgfagfagfgfuygdfgkbgkfsgdsbfgjbxhudfhhvkjsghgsdbdjdkjjh iufghlugf kjjfkih kjjgkh jhgks jhgflshd jkhdfldh jhlisd jhukiflsj jhdjds jfhhdjhy hb fjhdbjl khslk h bv h h h b h bh h h hh h h h hb bb b b b b b b b b b b bb b b b b b b b b b bb b b b bb bb b b b b b b b b b b bkbjkblhsd bh jhjghvlgewv hvbnvoifbf hsppynkjv bhj gjvfj jghvlkfb jhvfjf jksbv v)Was this review helpful to you?
Good Enough
Korean Drama "Yumi's Cells" follows the same pattern as the one in the first season, however, this time, it fails to deliver. The drama does have good performances that save the show, as do the cute cells that do what they do best, they offer solid comedy when it's needed. They are also well-made and nicely inserted into the story.
On the other hand, the story was messy and boring. The love story was just okay, but it wasn't as original and realistic as the first one, especially due to the unnecessary drama that was added to the love story.
So, overall, 5 out of 10.

What even is the point? The basic plot idea is simple: provide Yumi with men with two different personalities and have her choose. Major problem though: both men have paper thin backstories and personalities, and we already spent a whole season with them!
Can you drag this out over 14 episodes? No. But, they certainly were going to try. This has all the flip flops of your basic daytime soap with no emotional/psychological or logical brain reasons why it was twisting and turning. I only watched to the end to see if I hated the end: and lo and behold I did. This is the problem with multi-season series with no defined goals.
The acting was excellent, and you really got tied to the characters as it went on even with paper thin backstories and reasons for doing what they are doing.
The only thing that worked for me was the music, which was layered with meaning and nostalgia after suffering with all these characters through last season.
I grade on other criteria as well:
Complex Themes: 5.0
Everyone lets you down eventually?
Complex Characters/Character Growth: 2.0
Last season, the psychology and emotions made sense. This time, they just really didn't. Ba Bi is all surface, no depth on one hand he has all these dark hidden sides and secrets, and yet is also someone of great depth of emotional feeling who is highly responsible and meets his commitments. Which is it?? If he's putting on a mask or a face, then why are we seeing into his head and FROM HIS POINT OF VIEW he's just a really great, mature all around guy. Then it's hinted at that maybe all this romance, lovey-dovey stuff is an act, or he is someone of inconsistent shallow feeling, but we don't actually see that we see someone who is caring, cries, plans for the future, reads fiction, cares for his family, it just doesn't make sense.
On Yumi's side, she is still deeply hurt by the betrayal of many years ago, and as a result requires constant validation, and is not very trusting. She doesn't mature or change or gain new perspective over the course of the show. She just changes professions.
Wung is the same from last season, portrayed more neurodivergent than last season, he still has no EQ and heavily relies on his pride and logical fallacies to get through arguments.
Quality interactions between women: 6.0
Because Yumi switching careers is one of the plot points, it allows Yumi to discuss her career ambitions and work with other women, but it's all fairly shallow.
Production/Cinematography: 8.0
Still quite high, and there's little magical cinematic moments that will linger, but relies on a lot of what was done before.

a never ending story
my feelings after watching this drama are frustration and relieve.this drama focuses on what happens inside ones head when one needs to take decisions. through the "cells" which are not really cells, we are given the opportunity to experience what the characters feel from the inside. some cells are really cells (foot cells, hand cells, grease cells, yup!) and some are not: they are aspect of the character's personality (hunger, sensitivity, lust, ego, etc.).
inside (yumi) the main character's world, we get to see how she will manage her love life, then her career. this idea was genius, but I feel like it wasn't exploited to its full extend, and that's a shame, really. but this is entertaining, and I watched it all in 2 days. even if I didn't like the endding, I would recommend this for its uniqueness.
watch it with friends or family. there is too much frustration and reasons to argue with a lover.

Yumi Cells 2 was a very cute watch and I will cherish all the sweet moments :)
After moving on from her heartbreak, we see Yumi (Kim Go Eun) and her colorful cells deal with the courage to step out on her own as a writer as her new romance blossoms with Yu Babi (Park Jin Young). The arc that bridges Yumi Cells 1 and 2 felt natural. In season 1, Babi has been around as her coworker but he never was presented as another love interest option for Yumi. So after breaking up with Woong and we see her moving on, Babi’s presence just fits as someone who is there for Yumi. The flow of both relationships were just as refreshing because Woong and Babi’s personalities were very different. I also appreciate seeing a more dynamic journey of Yumi as a writer since it was always been her dream.
Although I think season 1's cells were more charming, there are still hilarious, emotional moments. Also, surprisingly naughty moments between Yumi and Babi's little cells, I love those! XD That's a testament to how vibrant Yumi and Babi's chemistry were. I love every time he convinces her in his blunt and swoony manner, and when he was so sincere when he takes care of her. What I don't understand is the annoying side characters and the conflicts that seem to stem from out-of-character decisions, which makes me upset till the ending. Other than that, Yumi Cells 2 was cute and I will cherish all the sweet moments! :)

Aire fresco y aprendizaje sobre el amor.
Gran drama. Recomendado!!Was this review helpful to you?

Yumi's Cells ✨
Was this review helpful to you?
