Blood Boiling

The name alone caught me off guard so I dove into this series thinking I knew what I was getting into... I was wrong! This series is INCREDIBLY detailed about everything from the bullying to the blood. It's so sad that this is real situations (not based on TS I hope) but everyday people are bullied for every tiny thing you can imagine and even though I felt negative feelings through most of this series I couldn't stop watching, The acting was on point with all the right emotions for this disaster stricken festival. Not for the faint heart and obviously not family friendly.
I was never a victim but as a parent this just makes me even more fearful to continue to have my child in school. I highly recommend just for the thrill of what you think will happen. The ending had me in my feels legit
Enjoy...

one of the best k-drama´s

This is genuinely one of the best k drama´s i have watched, i reality a lot to the victim. Because i have been a victim of bullying myself and i would love to take revenge on them, but i would never take that type of revenge like the victim did obviously cause i would have been in jail lol. The acting is amazing the plots are mindblowing. This is a drama, you just want more of and just want to continue watching, It is also realistic you can really see and understand the victims point of view. It also didnt have a disappointing ending. Please watch it, it is totally worth it and im so glad i found out. You should definitely watch it too. It does contain a lot of blood so don´t watch it if you are senstive to that. This is a k drama i will never forget fr.

It deserves to be an Underrated Drama!

I finally finished this drama, and now I understand why it is underrated. What makes a Korean drama different is its direction, beauty, aesthetics, and acting. But TKOP lacks three out of four things.

1) Direction: I think the direction was poor in comparison to others. It's still good, but the Koreans raised the bar so high that mediocre direction comes under poor direction.

2) Beauty: There's not much beauty in the drama, nor is any rich lifestyle glorified. Also, I'm going to be controversial here, but the actors were pretty pale by beauty standards. The guys were ok-looking, average-height guys with no style, which is great; it looks realistic, but it's a k-drama; you have to add eye candy. It's a must.

3) Aesthetics: Korean vibrant colours were missing. Colour schemes were not black or white. But Grey and Muddy are constantly. Pretty dull as it should be considering MC is depressed and schizophrenic, but still, it's one of the subtle reasons people don't watch this drama or put it on hold.

4) Acting: Acting was great. They did a great job. It doesn't feel like acting was bad or acting was good. The guys were so immersed in their characters that it felt like they were them. The female cop was dull, not gonna lie. Even the kids were incredible.

Apart from that, this was a good drama, and I rate it an 8.5 overall because of it's story and concept.

Will You Be a Dog or a Pig?

An intense, gut wrenching look at what trauma does to a person and how some wounds are just too severe to ever heal. All the childhood flashback scenes are harrowing, every scene is thick with dread and suffering and the violence has such an unsettling visceral power. As dark as this gets the brutality never feels forced or like gratuitous misery porn, we get a good sense of the how and why the bullies are allowed to run rampant. I also appreciated this show's nuanced take on justice and revenge. Kim Dong Wook and Kim Sung Gyu both gave excellent performances playing compelling characters, though I was frustrated by Dong Wook's lack of screen time. He absolutely killed it (pun intended?) in every single scene so I wanted more time with him. I think the show should have spent more time following him and less time following the cops investigating him.

balas dendam sempurna tapi...

RESPECT ? I DON'T THINK SO!!!! GIVE ME MY TIME BACK!!!!!

I started this yesterday and it got me hooked. I was excited to watch this. The twists kept me on my toes. Up until the last episode everything was going well and they had to ruin it in the final moments of the last episode.

What the hell was even the respect about ? He killed someone and did not get punished for it. The female cop could have turn the table if she wanted to, but NO she had to et him go like that even before the final episode. I don't think he deserves respect of high level for killing a child. The truth was not revealed to the public and was revealed to the mother of the victim who will now even suffer more for her child.

THAT COP DOES NOT DESERVE ANY RESPECT. [I know it's fiction]. That made me so angry. Like now I wish I had not started this drama. Now I want my time back. AHHH SHIBAL.

Be patient with it for first 2 episodes...

Mind-blowing drama!
As my headline reads:"Be patient with it for first 2 episodes..." and let me complete, "after that, you won't be able to stop watching it".
The twists will turn your head and so will the plot and it's heart wrenching story.

My heart goes out to such bully victims and frankly this is a kind of drama where the lead was antagonist and still you will sympathize with him instead of his victims.

I don't usually watch serious revenge dramas but this is something that i will strongly recommend.
The acting is superb, be it adults or of the kids... They are amazing!

Just that I feel the ending should have been a bit different given that the last character met with a heroic end.
Not giving in any spoilers I again recommend you'll to watch this so that you'll can recommend this to someone else ;)

the social commentary!

I'm writing this review awhile after I watched the show so it could be less in depth then some.
it's an interesting revenge story if you liked the glory you should watch this. it's a reality of the "effcets" of school bullying, you don't come out of situations like that with a strong sense of justice and a legal way to get there you come out fucking angry. and this show was a beautiful representation of that. it's dark it's grim and gory it's a nasty story with gross people. I think that's why it works so well it's a commentary on society I recommend you watch it if that's your vibe. it's g0od!

To become a monster, or to live like a pig?

The King of Pigs is easily one of the best school violence/ bullying themed dramas I've watched. It is short but detailed and explicit. Definitely not for the faint hearted!

Entered this drama with no expectation but it had me hooked since the beginning. The ominous vibe of it is amazing. The story is extremely well written. The characters are intrinsic and layered. I loved the way they took time to weave the story about the punishment given to the bullies.

The FL was almost unnecessary. I didn't really like the person playing it either. Jong Suk's character became the most pathetic and pitiful person in the show. It was hard to sympathethize with him.

My favourite character undoubtedly was Kyung Min. Such a soft and warm hearted child turned into a revengeful merciless person for himself and his best friends. He had my full support throughout. I loved the way he handled the bullies, they deserved every bit of pain given to them.

Undoubtedly the child actors did the best out of the entire cast. They are all extremely talented.

The ending is what I expected as soon as I figured what was going on but it still didn't fail to give me goosebumps!
The last frame is the most beautiful in the entire show.

In conclusion, I will remember the King of Pigs forever.

Should definitely watch ?

The King of Pigs is a gripping psychological thriller that delivers a chilling exploration of trauma, revenge, and the haunting impact of childhood bullying. From start to finish, it keeps you on edge with its intense narrative, unpredictable twists, and deeply unsettling atmosphere.

Acting Performance

The cast delivers an outstanding performance, particularly Kim Dong-wook as Kyung-min and Kim Sung-kyu as Detective Jong-suk. Their portrayals feel raw and emotionally charged, making their characters’ pain, rage, and desperation incredibly believable. The way they bring their past traumas to life through their expressions and body language is nothing short of phenomenal. Each interaction between them is layered with tension, revealing complex emotions that make the story even more compelling.

Story & Plot Twists

The plot is difficult to put into words—it’s simply mind-blowing. The way the story unfolds, intertwining past and present, builds a gripping mystery that keeps you questioning what will happen next. Just when you think you understand where the story is going, it pulls the rug from under you with shocking twists that redefine everything. The psychological depth of the characters adds another layer of intrigue, making it a powerful commentary on the long-lasting effects of violence and bullying.

Final thoughts

The King of Pigs is not just a thriller—it’s a dark and thought-provoking journey into the human psyche. With stellar performances, a haunting storyline, and a plot that keeps you hooked until the very end, this is a must-watch for fans of psychological dramas. It’s an intense, unforgettable experience that leaves a lasting impact.

A Dark, Relentless Portrait of Trauma – Kim Sung Kyu Shines

The King of Pigs is an unflinching exploration of social hierarchies, childhood trauma, and the enduring scars of violence. Unlike conventional dramas, it refuses to simplify its characters or offer easy resolutions. Every scene drips with tension and moral ambiguity, creating a world that is raw, uncomfortable, and hauntingly real.

Kim Sung Kyu delivers a performance of extraordinary depth. His portrayal captures the subtle shifts between vulnerability and suppressed anger, making his character both sympathetic and terrifyingly complex. He carries the emotional weight of the narrative, bringing an intensity that is both gripping and devastating. Watching him navigate the psychological intricacies of the story is a masterclass in understated, yet powerful acting.

This is not a drama for casual viewing, but for those who appreciate profound storytelling and performances that linger long after the screen goes dark, The King of Pigs is unforgettable. Kim Sung Kyu, in particular, elevates the film to an artful meditation on human cruelty, survival, and the indelible marks of the past.
