the FL in both shows come out of a bad marriage, with cheater husbands. Both had long sacrificed personal careers for the marriage. They both come out strong after divorce. of course, in TEOM we see the whole joruney of the FL from a blissful marriage through the discovery of infidelity and then divorce and then finding herself again. In contrast in DH we see the FL's life after she has already divorced her unfaithful husband. the characters in TEOM are more layered in comparison to DH. Also FL has kids in DH and the ML also is a widower with kids. In TEOM only the FL is shown to have a second chance at relationship.

In both dramas the FL gave up a promising career to be a housewife, however after she learns about her husband's infidelity she gets divorced and has to start over from scratch in Shanghai. When she's at her lowest, she meets the ML.
