A breath of fresh air
New Life Begins is A Breath of Fresh Air for me. This is different from a lot of the cdrama that I've watched. New Life Begins highlights and put more focus on the women characters. To me, this is more of a "feminist" type of cdrama, different from the traditional male dominance (especially for costume drama), which is a welcome change. I really enjoyed watching this drama from the beginning. The characters are interesting and funny. I used to see Bai Jing Ting as a boy since he looks so young, but he looks mature in this drama and very cool! Despite this being a light and fluffy drama, there is also some "drama" or conflict with antagonistic character and I like that. It's not just funny haha, kiss kiss, happy all the time kind of drama. I would definitely recommend this drama. Was this review helpful to you?

women being there for women
this was a very good and funny drama.Focusing more on women , family, friendships and marriage. All from different backgrounds and upbringing they chose themselves first and how to be there for each other. their marriages were clumys different painful but they fought through some found true love some got to learn they don't need to be married to be happy and Haitang what a huge heart she had to accommodate such a husband who brings a woman home and she accepted those women as her sisters not sister wives what a woman. And my Zheng and Wei their journey was interesting what a sweet couple. 100000000/10 drama. worth the timeWas this review helpful to you?
This Drama Broke Me (In The Best Way Possible)
I need to scream about this drama because NOBODY TOLD ME I'D BE THIS EMOTIONALLY INVESTED?! 40 episodes? More like 40 episodes of pure serotonin that ended TOO SOON. I would literally trade my firstborn for 100 more episodes (kidding... maybe).Let's talk about Yin Zheng (6th Young Master) and Li Wei—hands down the healthiest, most heartwarming couple in historical drama history:
1. Yin Zheng - the man who ruined all other male leads for me. This green flag king waited patiently like a saint for Li Wei, respected her independence like a true feminist ally, had the emotional intelligence of a modern therapist, and looked fine as hell doing it all.
2. Li Wei - The revolutionary queen! This woman said NO to patriarchy centuries before it was cool, built businesses while looking flawless, taught an entire dynasty about women's rights, and still had time to fall in love (priorities!)
Together, they’re power couple goals, both fighting to reform outdated traditions, especially those that oppressed women. Shoutout to Bai Jingting and Tian Xiwei for bringing Yin Zheng and Li Wei to life. Their chemistry was so natural, that i low-key wondered if they were actually in love (〃∀〃).
Oh i want to highlight this too: The women in this drama support each other instead of tearing one another down, so no petty harem fights. The Great Master (the ruler) isn’t your typical cold, tyrannical emperor, he’s a father with a heavy burden, flawed yet open to change. and in this drama, conflicts get resolved quickly without unnecessary drama—just pure, satisfying storytelling.
Production-wise—the costumes, sets, cinematography, sound, comes together in perfect harmony. It's clear the team poured their hearts into every frame, creating a world so believable you'll forget you're watching fiction.
I'm not exaggerating when i say this drama changed my standards forever. It's smart, heartwarming, progressive, and just so damn good. If you haven't watched it yet, what are you doing with your life?
Final Rating: ∞/10 (yes, I'm giving it infinity points)
Watch if you love: healthy relationships, strong female leads, historical settings with modern values, actual character development, and shows that make you feel severe withdrawal symptoms after finishing ಥ‿ಥ
Now excuse me while i go stare longingly at my screenshots and pretend I live in this beautiful universe🏮✨

Stop what you're doing and Watch this
A maid gets married into the royal family of a different country and the two struggle with their clashing views and creates strong bonds with her sister-in-laws there. Her husband feigning sickness to survive in the clash for the throne falls in love with her after she steals his food. He ends up pushing for the throne in order to better protect his wife. I can't say i blame him though. When Tian Xiwei - 田曦薇 cries it makes you want to summon a battle cry from deep within and put on battle armor and fight. While battle armor is not quite with my aesthetic; I got my girl.I love the silly brother who chose to leave the toxicity of the royal family and only be his father's son. All he wanted was his father's love. His wife is probably my favorite 2nd lead. She was willing to fight for her husband. I'm happy for all the wives who managed to escape. His "harem" of love obsessed beauties still cracks me up no matter how many times I rewatch this show.

Masterpiece worth the watch .
I have watched alot of dramas from korean ,japan and china and this is the second time only i have decided to write a review on what i watched .This drama was sooooooo good i cant find words for it .at this moment i just finished the final episode and my thoughts on it are all over the place ,through out the whole show i experience alot of emotions . Enough on that now to what i think makes this show good.
STORY: the story itself is nothing new per say but its how it is done in a different way. Most stories written in about this time frame even in a fictional place have a certain heaviness to it .this drama showed a wonderful world of sisterwood ,friendships, love of families and more .
Each story line had a Satisfying
Ending The story line of Hao Jia.was one of my favorites seeing how she was a bright young woman who wore such a pleasant mask that she didnt even Realise was there.
CAST/ACTING: the casting was perfect 👌 no character felt like a throw away character and i have to give it to the actors and actress for their wonderful performance. The actors did a wonderful job with small details showing how they feel and their growth .The character development for each character was just right. You could tell their motivations and why they did the things that they did.

Healing for the soul
I actually finished this series years ago. I thought it was a shame I didn't write a review, as I can still remember the joyful comfort it brought me. The romance was indeed "romancing" , with funny leads and great chemistry. The stong, unexpected sisterhood, where a show finally wrote "the other women" who wasn't some kind of man-obsessed, evil character or a green-tea. The light, yet engaging plot keeps you engaged throughout all episodes. It is exactly the kind of drama you need when life gets tough. Was this review helpful to you?
One of the best dramas
I watched it a long time ago for the first time, now I've rewatched it. Im shocked that even after watching this title again it could still make me feel this way. This drama is just too good, to everyone who isn't sure if they should watch it. They definitely SHOULD. I forgot how good this drama was everything was chef's kiss. The story was so interesting from the start to an end, I dare to say that this series is flawless, I like every detail about this show: the cast, story, acting, music. This drama came out some time ago but it's still in my top dramas (I watched loads of them). It's not the first time Bai Jingting suprises me with his excellent acting skills, Tian Xi Wei also did such a great job ,, New Life Bagins" is my favourite drama that she's playing in. I love it how the 6th prince managed to get on top without any unpure action. I honestly reccomend this show to everyone, even tho it's a slow-burn type of romance it is worth waiting. I can't find any other words to describe how good this drama is so Im just gonna end it here. I most likely will return to this drama again in the future. Was this review helpful to you?
A Light and Heartwarming Historical Drama
I’m usually not a fan of historical dramas. I prefer modern settings and had only watched one long ago. But I came across New Life Begins and decided to give it a try. I’m so glad I did – this drama is truly a breath of fresh air!Unlike most historical dramas that are full of politics, harem fights, and dark twists, this one is very different. It focuses more on daily life, relationships, and light humor. Yes, there is some power struggle, but it’s not too intense or stressful. Even the “villain” characters are not extremely evil, which makes it easier and more fun to watch.
One thing I loved was how the drama talks about women’s roles, sisterhood, and mental health – especially postpartum depression, which many dramas don’t mention. It shows these topics in a gentle and respectful way. There’s also a lot of character growth throughout the story. Some parts are frustrating or sad, but that’s what makes the characters feel real.
The leads are amazing. The male lead is kind and always smiling, and the female lead’s bright energy lights up every scene. Their chemistry is so natural that you can’t help but smile along with them.
This drama made me enjoy the historical setting so much that I’m now open to watching more like it. If you're someone who usually avoids historical dramas like me, this one might surprise you too.

Wanna spend your free time with a comfortable drama... Then here is it for you :)
Where should I start...! Actually at first, i just randomly picked this drama . But end up so much loving it. Each and every single character is so powerful and beautiful in their own place. You just can't ignore the support rules. They are also very important as well as the main leads. I never watchedBai Jing Ting's any drama before but after watching this drama , he is one of my favorite chinese actor. He look so handsome in the costume. His acting was really great. And Tian Xi Wei is always be my favorite of course. Her acting in this drama was really very strong and cute also. Also other lead
actors won't disappoint you ( I promise :) ).
Story:
The story gives you the taste of family bond, friendship, love .... also politics.
The character Yin Zhang (played by Bai Jing Ting) is really cool. He is so smart also but he is always invisible to others as well as to his father also. But later he was able to get attention for his father. And the role Li Wei (played by Tian Xi Wei) is really strong. Li wei is so smart and she has a sharp brain.
I also like the characters Shanguan Jiang , Yin Qi, Hao Jia, Dong Haitang and Princess Yuan Ying (at first i didn't like her because she married to Yin Zhang but slowly i really like her loyalty. She never been a third wheel between Yin Zhang and Li Wei)
Overall.. You will find out the strory after watching it. It was really a great show.. trust me.
Cast:
Everyone in this drama worked hard to portray their
character well and though they are suceed in it.

A Charming Blend of Humor, Romance, and Elegance
What makes this drama stand out is its perfect balance of lightheartedness and depth. The humor is well-timed and natural, often arising from the quirks of its lovable characters. At the same time, it doesn’t shy away from exploring themes of growth, duty, and the complexities of relationships.
The chemistry between the leads is magnetic, with their evolving bond providing plenty of heartwarming moments. Supporting characters are equally engaging, with their individual stories adding richness and dimension to the narrative. (I loved the women so much!!!)
If there’s a downside, it might be that the pacing occasionally slows, especially in the mid-episodes. However, the charm and humor more than compensate for these moments.

Food, feminism and a soggy plot
The plot itself wasn't very much pleasing to my taste in the first place .. the pace of story, events unfolding and even the characters nothing really could hold my heart even though for its rating I had high expectations from this show. I understand there are a lot of people who like a subtle storyline with women fighting or helping each other with men in the centre of their attention but I personally don't appreciate such troupes. As the show begins se see all shades of objectifying women in the society ...a competition to select wife .. fine ..but degrading them right away like their life depends on it .. then comes a clown with 24+ concubines ..and if that wasn't enough our ML who was talking big and making his eternal love promises to FL bring a new wife ...at this point my patience ran out .. the biggest turn off for me in any story is when the lead of that story goes back on his/her words especially when that is a promise he/she made to his/her partner. After watching a bit further it was clear that this new wife is not interested in him and wants to divorce him ..good but that doesn't mean his own actions are nullified.I will not suggest if anyone should watch it or not ..but for me this drama has passed the threshold of my emotional and moral compass ..I don't mind watching gore ..blood shed .. swords and guns but this is something I can't take. Seriously..it pokes right through my heart and makes me moody for days.
tian xiwei was okay .. clearly her acting wasnt even half as good as it is now ( moonlit reunion)
ML ... I dont know what his name is and he is easily forgettable .. I might watch him if I see him in other drama but I won't be looking for his drama exclusively. They don't have even the iota of chemistry between them.. I don't know about ML but I have seen TXW in multiple drama .she can pull a great chemistry with almost every co actor. Here she failed. In fact the awkwardness was quite visible between them.
The side cast was okay .. two three actors were those you commonly seen in other dramas from time to time ..
BGM is soothing
So that's all

As the younger generation tries to negotiate new ways of organizing government, society and marriage, we get to feel the satisfaction of our main characters doing the right thing and never losing their way. But, this premise has no conflict, or tension, or character development, and at 40 episodes it's just way too long.
One strong point was a very accurate depiction of domestic abuse.
The main characters are all likeable enough, but the acting is very on the surface, and chemistry is more like good buddies trying to do a group project. Music was adequate and there isn't really anything to rewatch.
I grade on other criteria as well:
Complex Themes (7.5)
Why are we wasting the talents and strengths of women and failing to recognize their obvious complementary strengths? Why indeed. I am all for this theme, though it was bit simplistic done. I did deeply appreciate illustrating the pitfalls of trying to leave an abusive relationship in a traditional, patriarchal society and why leaving isn't easy.
Complex Characters (3.0)
Just no. There were too many characters and they all had one distinctive personality trait.
Complex women and relationships (8.5)
While all the characters are simply drawn, there were lots and lots of women collaborating and being in friendship, and it was a joy to see that so front and center.
Cinematography/Production values (7.5)
Average for a historical show produced in the last couple years. Nothing really stands out.
