This ain’t a story for a 90 minute movie.

No proper setup, no proper development, ridiculous conclusion - this is what I’ve got from a story that was in fact quite interesting if explored enough.

As a movie it was bad. Honestly close to nothing works. I didn’t get to see the team long enough to care for their teamwork. I’ve got 30 seconds of flashbacks to know about their past, so as individual characters they are also giving me close to nothing. The world built up was just confusing because of how vague it was. Yes, I understand the most basic rules and premises, but with how complex the lore seems, I could as well know nothing.

Ba U is punching demons back to tell, Sharon is exorcising demons back to hell, Kim Gun is there making vlogs - the hell was this dynamic? Yes, they did show us Kim Gun doing some research, but they for sure focused more on him running around with a camera. He seemed quite… useless.

The exorcism scenes were ridiculous. Mix match of everything. It gave me Marvel meets Exorcist meets any fighting focused video game meets every found footage horror.

The best part of the movie? The animated ending scene. And here’s the thing - this would not only work better as a series, but especially animated series. With the crazy aesthetics and over the top drawings? This would be a hit. As a movie, even with crazy CGI, it gave discount vibes.

The acting was fine. The characters were such a stock bunch it’s hard to tell at times if the delivery was good or not. The effects were decent, but there was literally zero creativity behind the design of all the supernatural elements.

Overall, skip.

Forgettable

First off, I'm a big fan of Ma Dong Seok's movies, but I also am not crazy about the horror genre.
This being said, I gave this a 7/10.

The movie suffers from the fact that the prequel is hard to come by. "Holy Night: The Zero" is a web toon that lays the foundation for this movies story and without it, it just feels like there is something missing. We don't really know the backstory and the why for several of the subplots.

Don Lee and his typical "knock'em out", "I'm invincible" charm was to me the highlight of this movie.
Gyeong Su Jin's character came off as annoying, but not because of bad acting, because of how the role was written. One minute she's so tough that she trys tondo everything on her own, and the next minute, she's so scared that she cannot do the easiest thing.

The story of this film was OK and the production was done well, but that's not enough to save this movie. I feel my 7/10 is being generous.

A bit too linear , like a one ep drama rather than a movie
It is always fun to see madongsuk one punch everyone especially demons

But it barely had any substance and as mom said “all that just for one demon and one possessed girl?”
I didn’t like how they’d show the present then conveniently have a backstory ready
And the ending felt too opened ended, I’d have wished they kept madongsuk instead of making it cartoon, and also zero quotations were answered

The house also looked like the ghost one from the great escape with the face in the wall, tbh that was more scary

They had this whole cult of demons, that targeted the dr and her sis
And yosup, or how both madongsuk and Sharon had demon powers, or even stopping the biggest demon
Nothing was answered

Feels awkward

A tasteless rendition of Ma Dong Seok's prowess that most probably exists just because of the success of the Roundup franchise, where they thought they could exploit the same formula and use it in every other movie genre. The acting in this one is awkward and the presentation seems lacking of resources, as he continues to kick and punch not only the criminals, but doing serious exorcism with his bare fist. It's just difficult to treat it seriously because it really looks like a comedy skit or something, and brand power alone isn't going to suffice in this movie.

THE CAST IS WONDERFUL!!

This is one of the best dramas I've watched. The cast of actors turned out to be wonderful. Especially curly-haired David, it's something with something!! The girl who used to be in a k-pop band played great. I originally watched the drama for David Lee. But it turned out that there are actors who are just as cool as him, and thanks to them, I started watching more dramas. The cast and special effects are the best in this movie. The music in the background was wonderful, perfectly matched to the movie.

A Hauntingly Beautiful Ride – Holy Night: Demon Hunters

I’ll admit it upfront — I usually cannot handle horror 😅👻. It scares the living hell out of me and I tend to avoid it at all costs. But Holy Night: Demon Hunters pulled me in so strongly that I sat through it, and by the end, I absolutely loved every moment 💯🔥. It’s dark, mysterious, and gripping, yet the emotional pull makes it more than just a horror-action film.

The cast is phenomenal 🌟. Ma Dong-seok owns every scene as Ba-woo, with unmatched strength and presence. Seohyun as Sharon is magnetic, elegant, and absolutely unforgettable 🌙✨. Lee David as Kim Gun adds a smart and witty energy that balances the intensity, while Kyung Soo-jin as Jung-won brings an emotional core that feels grounded and real. And of course, Jung Ji-so is hauntingly brilliant as Eun-seo — delicate yet chilling, leaving a lasting impression 💕.

The visuals and atmosphere are equally powerful — eerie, tense, and beautifully shot 🌌. The action scenes are thrilling, the suspense keeps you on edge, and the soundtrack 🎶 ties everything together perfectly. Even as someone who normally avoids horror, I found myself completely immersed and unable to look away.

At its heart, Holy Night: Demon Hunters is not just about battling darkness, but about courage, trust, and human connection ✨. Despite being outside my comfort zone, it ended up being one of the most memorable films I’ve watched — proof that sometimes, the scariest journeys are also the most rewarding 💖.

New Demon Hunters

Before the animated film KPop Demon Hunters, there was this live-action movie: Holy Night Demon Hunters. This movie would have worked much better as an animation, because as it is, it doesn’t succeed as an action film, even less as a horror movie, and even less as a fantasy or comedy. They really didn’t need those silly gags. The movie also spent too much time on “found footage,” where we watch events from another camera instead of directly. In my opinion, the biggest flaw of the movie is its misguided production.

I still had some fun watching Ma Dong-seok (I didn’t really catch his character’s name) kicking demons with his destructive fists, and it was interesting to see an exorcism done in a slightly different way. Usually, the Catholic Church is the one expelling demons, but here they turned it into a Korean-style exorcism while still keeping a vague connection with Christianity. So, there is some originality, even though the majority of the movie is just another below-average exorcism film.

Something is missing

I love horror movies especially when they use this supernatural exorcist thing, I have high expectations about this movie burnt something is missing, it feels too Rush, we can connect with any character, missing information about them, they try to do something epic but it's stay in that, a try.
I feel bad because I love Don Lee acting, the move have Potential to be something huge, like a tv show or a trilogy of movies you know but again something doesn't feel right, they could done it better
