WE NEED s2 NOW!!!
🔸A bloody poem of unspoken problems, unborn friendships, and untold concerns. Weak Hero is not any kind of a manifest against violence, unlike Boyhood. It's a clear statement of what everyone could have had and what has lost to domestic and school violence. Friendship, trust, love, happiness, - all of them were wiped out with blood and boiling rage. It's been 1.5 years since the release of this drama, and I attest that the story gets better on the rewatch when you can closely examine the exquisite psychology behind it.🔸The show proves that warlike personal relationships never bring any profit to anybody. Oh Beom Seok, aka the most hated villain, was adopted for his congressman dad's political influence. In psychology, bad relationship with parents can predict lower friendship quality, and it's exactly what happens in the drama with Beom Seok. His dad doesn't recognize him as an individual and physically abuses him on a daily basis, which results in Beom Seok struggling with social life. He is anxious even around his new friends and expects betrayal from them.
Beom Seok is so traumatized and broken that he can't navigate a regular relationship anymore. His new friends technically do nothing wrong, but they are no psychiatrists and they don't know how to treat Beom Seok in his condition. While therapy isn't going his way, and he reserves to violence as the only way to relieve his mental pressure. Hong Gyeong's performance as Beom Seok gave me chills. It is absolutely stellar.
🔸"Keep on pushin" says the slogan on Ahn Soo Ho's jacket, but, honestly, does he have a choice not to? He is all alone, without parents, working part time and sleeping at school. This life made him independent, taught not to expect anything in return and not to risk recklessly. But despite that, Soo Ho is loyal in good relationships. He trusts his friends enough to keep his phone unlocked. He is a little bit insensitive, but able to admit his fault and give someone a second chance. Exactly this attitude makes Ahn Soo Ho the best character in the show - and the one who's hurt the most.
🔸"You did nothing wrong", says Yeon Shi Eun's dad after his son causes major injuries to the three bullies who hurt his friend. Shi Eun is reluctant to form any relationship since his parents take little interest in his life, but he is considerate and caring in a friendship that accidentally came his way. He found his escape in keeping his brain busy by solving math problems, but math books will protect his friends only if used as weapons. As his rage grows he seeks justice in violence, too.
🔺Be careful when watching Weak Hero. You may find yourself falling for that violence when you start wishing some of the characters to be hit - this is exactly what the drama warns you about. After all the terrible things Beom Seok has done, you may start feeling satisfaction from seeing him being physically abused by his father, forgetting that abuse shaped him that way in the first place. There are many viewers who are angry for justifying Beom Seok's behavior, but there is no justification there, just as there is no justification for Shi Eun's aggression. It's just the way the society works. We cannot stop bullying and abuse if it's a regular part of our life.
That said, can you name Shi Eun the hero of this story? Or antihero? Or maybe this title belongs to Ahn Soo Ho? Or is it all a big irony? The drama wants you to decide yourself, and it doesn't offer a solution to the world peace. This brutality and honesty, in my opinion, along with the brilliant production is the root of its success worldwide.

This one broke me in ways I wasn’t expecting…
What hit me the hardest wasn’t just the violence, but the emotional conflict between Suho and Beomseok.Beomseok’s need to belong, his inferiority complex, and the way he clings to Suho as a source of safety felt deeply human. He didn’t just want friends, he wanted a place where he mattered.
Suho never meant to hurt Beomseok, and that’s the tragedy. Suho pushes people forward because that’s how he survives the world himself, but what he sees as guidance, Beomseok experiences as erasure. To Beomseok, authority has always meant being erased. Care and control collided, and neither of them realized it in time.
I’m genuinely frustrated that the series shows so little of Suho’s personal life. His emotional background is almost entirely absent, and that gap matters. Understanding why Suho is the way he is could have added even more weight to their conflict. Instead, that silence becomes part of the story itself.
Overall, the drama is cold, tense, and raw. The cinematography intensifies the characters’ emotions, and the pacing keeps the tension suffocating from start to finish. The acting is outstanding!!! Every glance, every silence feels heavy with meaning.
And that fucking ending… I’m speechless..

Punisher at its peek
I watched over this series as it came to Netflix. I regret it. No show should put us through this amount of emotions, but it's the reason why this is a top tier series.Such a simple story that went to such lengths to show the bond between friends and the power it gives us when something happens to the people we care about. Some psycho is well deserved, especially for what they did to that boy.
The acting was next level though, especially by the male lead, that final rampage was a masterclass of acting. Even his hair understood the assignment. He literally had me holding my breath everytime he picked up a pen.

A definite 10/10
The plot is pure fanservice as it shows Si-eun do what every nerd wishes they could do. The plot twists go crazy--- I was expecting the first arc to be the entirety of the show, so the second half genuinely threw me for a loop and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The fighting choreography was excellent in that it was both thrilling to watch and gave us insight into the characterization of the various fighters, as each person had a distinct style which matched perfectly with their personality. Even the characters that I hate were compelling and the acting was phenomenal. Was this review helpful to you?
A Gripping Tale of Friendship and Betrayal
I rarely binge-watch dramas, but Weak Hero Class 1 completely changed that for me. From the very first episode, I was hooked by its intensity, emotional depth, and stellar performances. It's not just a story about school life; it's a gripping exploration of friendship, resilience, and the consequences of our choices.Plot and Storyline
The storyline is phenomenal, balancing emotional depth with intense action. It follows Yeon Si-eun, a physically weak but exceptionally intelligent student who finds himself targeted by bullies. Despite his vulnerabilities, Si-eun's sharp mind and determination make him stand out. His friendship with Ahn Su-ho and Oh Beom-seok feels real and raw, highlighting both the beauty and fragility of human connections.
I found myself especially drawn to Si-eun’s journey. His intelligence and emotional struggles made him relatable, and his friendship with Su-ho added so much heart to the story. On the other hand, Beom-seok’s character was infuriating. While I could understand his pain and insecurities, his betrayal felt unforgivable. The show does an excellent job of portraying him as a deeply flawed and complex character, but I couldn’t help but feel a strong dislike for him by the end.
Characters
Yeon Si-eun: Si-eun quickly became one of my favorite characters. Despite his physical limitations, his strength of mind and determination to stand up to bullies were inspiring. His bond with Su-ho, rooted in loyalty and understanding, was a highlight for me. Watching their friendship grow felt like an emotional rollercoaster.
Ahn Su-ho: Su-ho is the definition of a loyal friend. He’s physically strong, a skilled fighter, and always willing to go to any length to protect his friends. His dynamic with Si-eun was a perfect balance of strength and vulnerability. I loved how his actions often spoke louder than words.
Oh Beom-seok: I struggled with Beom-seok’s character. While the show made an effort to show the impact of his abusive father, his actions, especially his betrayal of Su-ho, were hard to forgive. It was heartbreaking to see someone who was once part of this tight-knit group turn into the source of so much pain.
Production and Performance
The drama’s production quality is top-notch. The fight scenes were intense and realistic, but they never overshadowed the emotional depth of the story. The performances by the main cast, especially Park Ji-hoon as Si-eun and Choi Hyun-wook as Su-ho, were exceptional. They brought authenticity to their roles, making the characters’ struggles and triumphs feel real.
Personal Takeaways
What I loved most about Weak Hero Class 1 is how it made me think about friendship and resilience. The show is brutally honest about the challenges of growing up in a harsh environment, but it also emphasizes the importance of having people you can rely on. It’s a drama that stays with you long after the credits roll, and I found myself reflecting on the strength and sacrifices true friendship requires.
While the show had its heavy moments, the realistic portrayal of its characters made it impossible to look away. It’s rare to find a drama that can balance action, emotion, and moral dilemmas so seamlessly.
Final Thoughts
Weak Hero Class 1 is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys character-driven dramas with a touch of action and emotional depth. It’s a story that will make you cry, cheer, and question human behavior, all in one sitting. For me, it’s one of the best Korean dramas I’ve seen, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a powerful and unforgettable experience.

A Fierce Portrait of Youth, Violence, and Survival
“Weak Hero Class 1” is not your typical school drama — it’s a visceral, unflinching exploration of pain, resilience, and the fragile boundaries between strength and vulnerability. It strips away the gloss of teenage life and reveals the brutal reality of growing up in a world that rewards power and punishes kindness.Park Ji-hoon gives a career-defining performance as Yeon Si-eun, a quiet, academically gifted student who becomes an unlikely fighter. He doesn’t rely on brute strength but on intelligence, precision, and sheer willpower. His portrayal captures both fragility and ferocity — a boy who fights not because he wants to, but because the world gives him no choice.
Choi Hyun-wook and Hong Kyung deliver equally powerful performances as his friends, each representing different shades of loyalty and pain. Their friendship — tender, messy, and heartbreaking — forms the emotional core of the series. It’s rare to see such authentic chemistry and emotional nuance in a story driven by violence.
The direction is sharp and cinematic. Every fight scene is choreographed not for spectacle, but for storytelling — each punch, fall, and silence revealing something deeper about the characters’ inner turmoil. The muted color palette and claustrophobic framing enhance the sense of confinement, mirroring the suffocating reality these students face.
What sets “Weak Hero Class 1” apart is its honesty. It doesn’t glorify violence; it exposes it — as both a symptom and a consequence of emotional neglect, societal pressure, and silent despair.
Powerful, painful, and unforgettable, “Weak Hero Class 1” is more than a survival story. It’s a haunting reminder that sometimes the strongest battles are fought in silence — and the bravest heroes are the ones who never wanted to fight at all.

Keep adding up, until it explodes .
This is the best drama I've ever seen, definitely my favorite! The story, characters, music, plot, cinematography...everything was perfect. My heart ached when I saw Sieun; he had never done anything to anyone, and yet he was bullied. To me, this shows that no matter how good a person you are or can be, heartless people can choose anyone to harm.
Suho also had a somewhat difficult life; he worked hard and never "crossed the line."
Despite many people hating Beomseok, I don't hate him. He grew up in an environment of violence from his father, maybe he thought the right way to solve problems was through violence.
Sieun and Suho clearly liked each other, beyond friendship, and I think it's a shame that this isn't valued more because of criticism and judgment!
The ending was completely devastating, seeing Suho end up in a coma and Sieun totally destroyed by guilt, which wasn't his, was SO sad.

Omg.
I watched this some time ago but dediced to write a review for it now... Because why not?WHC1 is amazing, The story was interesting and did not bore me, not even for a second. The themes of this drama are not the most unique/groundbreaking, but what makes it stand out is the good acting, the tropes they explore (friendship, family etc).
Each episode was such a delight. I love shows that are happy but also very melancholic.
I really hoppe that S2 of Weak Hero Class 1 will be just as good, and hopefully the iconic duo (si-eun & su-ho) still remain friends.

Might be the best thing that has ever happened to the Korean drama industry.
The pacing was great, the acting is just... wow.
I'm now broken and traumatized. Low rewatch value since I DON'T WANT TO GET HURT ANYMORE though I probably will rewatch it next year. This is so good.
Everyone, please watch this with a box of tissues. It's going to make you sad, trust me. Or type in your therapist's number on the phone already, just in case. Lol.
Thank you so much for this masterpiece, I can't wait for s2.

I wasn't planning to watch this series b/c I felt some type of way about the bullying aspect. And a lot of teen/younger adult shows always seem to have that in them. However, I enjoyed the series mostly bc the cast is really good. The actors playing Su Ho and Sii Eun were absolutely fantastic. They played off each other very well! The bromance is top notch. The plot is intesting too and lot was being said about parental neglect and abuse as well. Friendship at that age can be tough and navigating that is crucial. I only wished that Beom Seok's spiral had been fleshed out more than his perceived slight at Youngi being closer to Su Ho than he was. He had a ton on trauma b/c of his adopted family, especialy the father and being bullied at the prior school. He felt like he found his people and then felt slighted even though he had not been. I hate that the assemblyman got away with all of that.
I also, liked that certain things did not drag out like that loan shark/criminal nonsense. In another series we would have had to deal with that guy for 3 more eps!
Not sure if a 2nd season is needed but I will assume that the webtoon had additional pages and leave it at that.
