I watched when it came out in 2022
First of all my english isn't the best and I apologise for any mistakes that I make going forward. So now talking about whc1, I honestly think the writing of this show is amazing, the detail put in to every scene by the writers and the way the actors portrait the smallest things amazes me. I also think that the osts chosen for this were amazingly placed through the series. Regarding watching it again, I have watched this series multiple times just waiting for the second season. And I also recommend it to every single person that I meet. Over all, of all the kdramas and none kdramas series that I have watched I think that weak hero class is the most touching and honestly the best one that you can watch. Was this review helpful to you?
Insanely good, short lived.
If you're like me, and you are currently binging kdramas, add this to your list. The characters are so deep and each of their personalities shine. The whole show made me laugh, cry, and worry. I have nothing bad to say about this show!! It is short, however I believe Weak Hero Class 2 is in the works!STORY - 10/10
A short story but hit all the right spots. There wasn't a moment in time where I was bored while watching this show. If you like action, fight scenes, friendship, and conflict, this is for you.
ACTING/CASTING - 10/10
I literally have nothing more to say about this. The casting was done PERFECTLY. I absolutely loved Suho as a character.
MUSIC - 9/10
The music was extremely well done and was beautiful. It especially hit during the more sad/emotional scenes.
REWATCH VALUE - 9/10
This drama was insanely good- because it is so short and fairly fast paced, it makes for a good watch any time you are looking to feel a strong sense of angst.
OVERALL - 9.5/10
I am looking forward to seeing where this drama goes from here. I really hope that the next season comes out soon! This is exactly what I am looking for in a drama. Male lead, brotherhood, angst, and emotion. Perfectly done.

Quiet Achiever
Loved this series. This was unexpected as I stumbled across it on YT. It's also on Viki. All the cast played their part well. The action flowed; the dynamic between each person was showcased well with the bad guys being just as much intricate as the good guys. The overall plot wasn't complicated. I love high school series and the ML was excellent in that his characteristics were basically robotic, emotionless pretty much, but you still got to see what was ticking on inside his head. You see the changes in his personality as he starts to develop empathy towards the people now closest to him. A bromance of sorts which I love this dynamic.
I'm anticipating S2 to be out (hopefully) this year.

Park Ji Hoon deserves the awards he got for this performance plus more
I absolutely loved this. Although the entire cast is amazing, Park Ji Hoon definitively made this series.I got into it within the first 10 minutes and couldn't stop watching despite knowing I wasn't going to be able to have the time to sleep - I even watched it again straightaway.
I connected to the characters almost instantly and was already telling people off or cheering for them within the first episode (in case its not obvious, I have a bad habit of emotionally over-investing in shows (and books)).
The storyline had me crying in the 2nd to last episode and Park Ji Hoon had me blubbering like a baby in the last episode - it was like I could feel his emotions as my own.
I would highly recommend this drama to anyone, its so good and so worth the sleep deprivation 😂

So So Good! I Slept Too Long On This
I am appalled that I slept on this show for so long. It is by far one of the best kdramas I’ve seen. Period. The acting of each was by far so convincing it had me immediately siding with Park Ji-hoon, who is my absolute faborite character. His character growth was as flawless as the innate traits that made Si-eun who he was. I rooted for him all the way- he could do no wrong in my mind. And Choi Hyun-Wook as Su-ho…he’s the good guy who takes no shit effortlessly that I love so much. His influence on Si-eun is nothing but positive, and the relationship they have is like best friend brothers. (My BL heart had a few moments there though…you can’t really blame me for the fleeting ship I repeatedly sent back to dock…especially since I did send it back to dock successfully in the end).I wanted revenge just like Si-eun. Hong Kyung as Beom-seok showed such a range of character…I applaud this actor for going from victim to villain/victim so well. I can’t like Beom-seok, but can’t hate him either. His father is the true villain in my book. Reall, all the adults-where tf where they?! I mean, really? And Kim Su-gyeom as Yeong-bin…he’s such a cute irl but his character? I was glad for every single punch he received. The “I don’t care” from Si-eun came from me, too!
I can’t wait for Season 2…I know Si-eun is gonna make waves where ever he is and I’m here for it.
The only thing that was frustrating was that I could watch episodes 1-7 on YouTube but I had to do a crazy and slightly desperate search for Episode 8, which I found in Dailymotion. (The relief was REAL.) But that’s mild.
I’ll be eagerly awaiting the release date for S2 this year…hopefully sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, I’m off to watch more shows with Park Ji-hoon because I’m a new fan.

Unforgettable and exceptional
To be honest, I can't even summarise right now since it's been like 10 mins since I completed this drama, so lemme just write what I want to say right now...I binge-watched S1 for 6 hours straight, and cried buckets watching last 2 eps, I'm honestly speechless, one of the best k-drama I've ever watched. Maybe it's because I related to leads a lot, I kept weeping and weeping at the end, I just feel overwhelmed right now. Si-Eun and Se-Ho, the writing and acting was phenomenal! Wish I had watched it early, I regret it now, but glad I choose to watch this today.
To those who watched S1 and waited 3 years for S2, you have my respect...even though it's late to say know, thanks to the cast & crew for creating this masterpiece, and thanks to actors for doing an amazing job! It's for sure a 10/10 for me!

A hero is as good as his antagonist
I recently watched this as it became available on Netflix, started on a Tuesday and couldn't put it down for 3 days, I had to stop all my regular dramas just to finish this.I thought we were about to embark in your typical story about a bullied guy and how he becomes stronger until he beat his bullies, but Weak Hero Class 1 is much more than that.
Si Eun, brilliantly performed by Park Ji Hoon, is not your regular timid protagonist that suffers bullying. He is a child deeply affected by trauma, who feels abandoned by both his dad and mom, and who finds some sort of second family in Su Ho and Beom Seok, and the later addition of Yeong I. He doesn't stand down, he fights and bites back. I personally loved Si Eun, it's a difficult character because it relies a lot on the audience reading his silences, therefore a good actor was essential, and Park Ji Hoon did just that.
But they say a hero is as good as his villain, or his antagonist in this case, and I have to say Oh Beom Seok is a fucking perfect antagonist. I can't stop talking about Hong Kyung and how brilliantly he portrayed Beom Seok through the series. Sometimes the connection to the antagonist motivation feels forced, because we have never seen them become the main villain, but this is the opposite in Weak Hero Class. We are watching how Beom Seok slowly falls into the same pattern as his bullies, and how he becomes a bully himself, and his motivations are clear, so clear that you cannot help but feel bad for him. And that one cannot stop hoping he will see the light and return to their friends, until he walks past the point of no return.
The trio is complete with An Su Ho, also greatly performed by Choi Hyun Wook, which is the main tank of the series, a good fighter, and a good person, but what I like about Su Ho is that he is not good to the point of being stupid, he is a good person, but he never let others walk all over him, and he stops things when he feels it's the right time to stop them.
The three of them are surrounded by a brilliant cast of young actors and older actors, and they all play their part brilliantly. The episodes are short and the series benefits from this, as the pace is perfect. The blue filter this drama has fits perfectly with it's a sad story, with the occasional glimpses of the sun when there's more hope.
I recently watched Study Group, and it was fun to have so many characters that also have a role in this other drama. Although they are quite different in tone, I would say watch Study Group if you want a more up-lifting story, perfect for when Weak Hero has left you depressed.
All I have to say is that this was better than expected and that I cannot wait for season 2.

Weak Hero Class 1 isn't too fast paced, it gives you enough backstory for all the characters that you feel like you can understand them, and gives you glimpses into how actions are done without dragging through the boring stuff or making it longer than it has to. All the characters had something about them that felt real and easy to relate to yet were still complex and had very distinct personalities and opinions.
Sieun, the main character, is your typical nerdy high schooler who keeps quiet and gets picked on. Beomseok is the transfer student who is immediately picked on. Suho is the good fighter who wants everyone to be at peace. These are all rather familiar character types to anyone, except Weak Hero Class 1 manages to make them much more than that. I think the way the characters were developed and transformed was so well done. In fact, I'd say this show does it better than just about anything else I've ever seen.
First, let's talk about Beomseok. Beomseok right from the start is set up for his rather unfortunate fate. He's this kid whose been the underdog his entire life, both at home and in school. Have you ever heard the saying that talks about either being abused or being the abuser? That saying is a great way to describe the mentality we see displayed through Beomseok. Every minor scene with Beomseok is a step towards his transformation into the antagonist. For example, the first true interaction he has at his new school makes him feel cornered. Automatically, this makes him think he needs to oblige to avoid being bullied again. However, after the situation ends and he understands that Sieun isn't going to put up with that sort of behavior, Beomseok clings to him, searching for comfort and protection from his classmate. Now, this obviously becomes a genuine connection that also extends to Suho, but it shows Beomseok's vulnerability, about how he feels like if something isn't done defensively, he'll only continue to suffer. Weak Hero Class 1 also gives us insight as to how Beomseok thinks subconsciously through almost everything he does, whether he's asking Suho a favor or it's through the glances he shares with his friends. There is a really good article that explains Beomseok's development really well that explains it much better than I can, but essentially, they slowly built Beomseok into what he became, it wasn't just one sudden incident that changed him. Building him the way they did felt much more real, more plausible. Even after everything he had done, and what he believed, you still see the vulnerable, hurt Beomseok we were originally introduced to, and it makes you wonder why he had to turn out like that.
Sieun, on the other hand, felt a little bit like wasted potential to me. His character felt much more thought out than many others under the same cliche. He wasn't just some bullied loser who hated the world and everyone in it. He warmed up to Suho rather quick and easily forgave those who apologized. He even cared for Youngyi, who was supposed to be against him. Yet, he wasn't so forgiving that it felt unbelievable. He always noticed smaller details that went unnoticed by his peers. He was always the first to asking Beomseok if he was okay whenever he seemed upset or left out. Overall, he was a great friend and seemed very dedicated to school and doing well for the future, even going to cram school and watching videos to study off of in his free time. Yet, after the situation with Suho and Beomseok, his character took a turn for the worst, disregarding almost everything he had going for him prior. While I think it was the right choice for the plot and I understand why it was done (without this the plot likely wouldn't have advanced), it still felt disappointing to see a character with so much potential throw his life away so quickly. Maybe it didn't make as much sense because we're still not aware of his mentality. I think his development would make more sense if we understood how he felt about his parents, or why he studied so much for school. Was it because he wanted approval? Was it because he had big hopes for the future? Or was it perhaps because he had nothing better to do? However, because of Sieun's big switch up, I felt both curious and excited to see how his story. It left unpredictability, and because of that I can overlook the slightly disappointment I felt.
Overall, Weak Hero Class 1 is a very well-written story with even better written characters who leave you feeling emotionally attached and wishing for their ending to be happy. It also allows you to feel excited, and leaves room for twists without leaving you without unanswered questions. I 100% recommend this show.

10/10. no words, just tears.
this drama DESTROYED me in the best and worst ways. like... i knew it was gonna be heavy, but i wasn’t ready for how real it felt.park jihoon as yeon sieun??? LITERALLY one of the best performances i've ever seen. he acted with his eyes. the way he showed pain without even saying anything... insane.
the friendship between sieun, sooho, and beomseok??? i’m still crying about it. the way they needed each other but were also their own worst enemies... it broke me.
the fights weren’t just cool (even tho they were SO well done), they meant something. every punch hurt ME too.
and the ending??? bro. BRO. i’m never recovering from that. i finished it and just sat there staring at my wall for 20 minutes.
honestly, this isn’t just a drama about school violence. it’s about loneliness, about finding people who make you feel like you're not alone anymore... and what happens when you lose them.
i love it so much. i’m begging everyone to watch it.
weak hero class 1 owns my soul now.

Weak Hero Class is DA BEST.
I love it. I like everything about it, idk what to say. like. It is so good it makes me forget things, the character arcs are also very good but it has a very fast pacing. Everythings happening so fast, but I love that they added Park Jihoon into the show, he was a good selection along side with Choi HyunwookWas this review helpful to you?
