The unforgotten night turns into a forgettable series

First, we are sold a BDSM story but once the first episode is over, it is almost forgotten.
Like in KinnPorsche, the police/mafia story is unfortunately totally secondary to the love story but at least in KinnPorsche, the characters, dialogues and direction had style. Here, the dialogues and situations are repetitive and uninventive. And above all, the character of Kim, angry and whiny, is unbearable. It's really hard to get attached to him and it is hard to understand what Kamon sees in him.
In summary: little interest to watch this series.

Unforgotten Night: The Perfect Guilty Pleasure You Can't Stop Watching

I honestly don’t even know what kept me watching Unforgotten Night—the plot isn’t revolutionary, the characters make questionable decisions, and some moments are borderline absurd. Yet, despite all that, I couldn’t stop. I ended up binge-watching all 12 episodes in just two sittings. There’s something about it that pulls you in, even when you know it’s a bit of a mess.

The show follows Kim, a 25-year-old office worker, who's been secretly in love with his senior, Day, for a long time. To get over him, he decides to have a one-night stand with a random stranger he meets at a bar. Enter Kamol, a 30-year-old mafia boss with some very special needs in the bedroom. He’s been hopping from one partner to the next, looking for someone who can truly satisfy him. And Kim? Well, he’s exactly what Kamol’s been searching for. Once Kamol lays eyes on him, he’s determined to make Kim his own, and thus begins their messy, intense journey.

What really kept me hooked was Kamol’s insane dedication to Kim. Kim plays hard to get, he’s stubborn and sassy as hell, but Kamol keeps coming back for more. Every episode, Kamol does whatever it takes to win Kim’s heart, and honestly? It was addicting to watch. Kamol’s persistence, despite the many walls Kim throws up, is what made me keep watching. It’s a slow burn, but when it finally heats up, it’s worth it.

As for Kim—he’s a total mood. His sharp tongue, sassy comebacks, and general "I’m not impressed by anything" attitude made him such a fun character. He’s tough to crack, and that’s exactly what makes his dynamic with Kamol so interesting. The way he stays one step ahead, constantly throwing out “already ready” responses, made me laugh more than I expected.

But it’s not just the leads that make this show enjoyable. The side characters brought so much to the table. Day and Itt’s height difference and their playful interactions were adorable, and Ruj, Krit, and Lop? They were the comic relief I didn’t know I needed. Honestly, their shower scene was one of my favorites—it was so hot and steamy, and the chemistry between the three of them was undeniable. I definitely wouldn’t mind seeing more of this threesome bodyguard trio! They added so much fun and heat to the show, and their moments together were always a highlight for me.

I also loved Baiboon’s pure innocence and cuteness. His moments with Kim and Kamol brought some much-needed lightness to the show. And then there’s Kom—his loyalty to Kamol and his care for Baiboon made him such a solid character. It’s nice to see loyalty like that in the mafia world, where trust is hard to come by.

Another part of the show I appreciated was the unwavering support Kim got from his friends, May and Jin. No matter how messy his life got, they were always there for him. Their care and love for him felt so real. And Kamol’s journey from being an orphan to finding a sense of family with Kim’s parents was beautiful. Kim’s parents were just so lovely and understanding. They accepted Kim and Kamol’s relationship with open arms, and seeing Kamol, who grew up as an orphan, finally able to call them his own was such a heartwarming moment. It added so much emotional depth to Kamol’s character arc, and I really felt for him in those moments.

There’s also Danil, whose obsession with Kamol is both creepy and fascinating. His fixation added a certain edge to the show, and it was fun to see how far he’d go to get Kamol’s attention.

Now, I totally agree with what a lot of others are saying about this show—it’s so bad, it becomes good. The plot is all over the place, the music often doesn’t match the scene, and honestly, some moments felt like they were just cut and pasted together without any real flow. The mafia boss and his four bodyguards literally kill everyone in their path with zero consequences, which is both ridiculous and strangely entertaining. Unforgotten Night is a hot mess—it's bad, funny, and silly all at the same time, which, somehow, makes it even more addictive. The flaws make it so much fun to watch because you just can’t look away. It’s so over-the-top, but that’s what keeps you coming back for more.

Sure, the show has its melodramatic moments, and the writing can get a little on the nose at times, but I couldn’t help getting wrapped up in the messy drama. Kamol and Kim’s relationship goes through so many twists and turns that you can’t help but root for them, even when it all feels a bit too much.

It’s not a perfect show, but I can’t help but love how it made me feel. The ending left me wanting more, and now, even days after finishing, I’m still thinking about it. Unforgotten Night isn’t flawless, but it’s definitely a wild, messy ride you won’t be able to stop watching once you’re in.

Well.. Love It or Hate It?

This is another series that seems to be a Love It! or Hate It! - Based on the reviews, which are either really high or really low!

It makes me a little crazy when reviews contain comparisons to other series. This one is receiving a lot of comments about this series versus Kinn Porsch and why this one would have been rated higher if it had come out before KP. HUH??? Are there that many bl series out there to watch that we can afford to compare them and then rate them on that comparison? I think not. If I am going to do any comparisons, it's going to be Unforgotten Night versus the truly awful series like Even Sun and Check Out. Hands Down this series is better than some of the series that have come out in 2022.

And although I give both Kinn Porsche and Unforgotten Night high ratings, I actually enjoyed this one a bit more, mainly because the actors in this series were all very good looking and I really didn't care for the actors that portrayed Kinn or Porsche - they were not good looking at all and even their chemistry seemed more like sex and less like love, and they had some really stupid scenes. In Unforgotten Night even the bodyguards had decent screen time, were good looking and were decent actors.

As far as the series - of course there was a lot of hype that the show didn't live up to - isn't that true with any series? Otherwise, no one would watch them. It wasn't perfect, most series have flaws, but it was entertaining enough to keep me watching without hitting the fast forward.

Stuck it out. Get me a t-shirt.

Well.... It finished. And I still have mixed feelings. Mostly I feel bad for the timing of this series. Had it been aired a few months earlier, it would have been seen as quite revolutionary. Right now, after KinnPorsche, it is all coming up short. Blame the timing, blame the hype, it is what it is and that's just not very good and not up to standard. (I reviewed eps 1-8 earlier, see below.)
The concept was pretty good. The visual outstanding. Great sets, beautiful lighting, very nice. The acting was spotty. Sometimes very good. Especially from Ton we get plenty of appropriate emotion. But sometimes really bad. Yoon and mafia is not a great match. In one scene he really nails it, in another he is bland as raw noodles or overacting so much it's cringe. Were Khom and Baiboon doing great, suddenly their story all but disappeared and they were left being props or set filling. I hated the Danil character. I would've happily punched him. The way he made a 180 after the kidnapping was very out of character. Kim is just too good of a person. I would not be so generous towards him. The whole suit thing has me puzzled. When and where did they change? In the car?? That would be some houdini stuff. Not in the house, since they are walking towards it... I just don't know. And what kind of celebration was this? What are they congratulated with? Most likely the retirement, but it's not mentioned once!

All in all this was just a feast of missed opportunities and bad choices, wrapped in a beautiful and sweet layer of fondant.

===============================

Review ep. 1-8
This series was hyped, and that is a dangerous thing. As we are seeing with KinnPorsche vs Check Out, it can go either way. So far this Mafia BL is somewhere in between those two. Not really worth the hype, but also not bad. There are many elements that make me come back every Wednesday to watch KamolKim. The developing feelings from Kim are natural an logical, even though they could stem from a sort of Stockholm Syndrome. In the beginning the chemistry was spotty, but it seems to be getting better, just as the relationship progresses. There does seem to be a whole story beneath the surface though, and I hope that we will get to see some of that. The way KhomBaiboon is being portrayed so far is *chefs kiss*. Respectful of the age (difference) but with so much feeling and passion in the glances and (near) touches. As said, there is enough here to keep watching, but they better deliver on what is being promised!

how to ruin a promising story?

I finally understood why the series was violently attacked ... The series promoted several unhealthy ideologies and messages towards teenagers:
- a sadistic relationship between a gangster and an accountant, fortunately the scenes are almost devoid of sadism.
- the series juggles dangerously with pedophilia through a love story between a child and an adult man who is the bodyguard of the main protagonist.
- the series shows a wild triple sexual relationship between three guards.
Frankly, I don't understand the purpose of destroying the show to normalize these dangerous teenage acts.

Firstly the main protagonists are too young and do not match at all with the personality of businessmen or mafioso supposed to be mature and dangerous ... secondly the first episodes of the series are very boring, especially since the director has destroyed the romantic night (the basis of the love story), so much it seemed childish, fast and very dull even for an ephemeral love relationship, compared to series of the same type like ( (Vegas and Pete in KinnPorsche)... thirdly, The scenes intimate between the two main protagonists (kim and kamol) are childish and immature to die for ... Finally, the only positive point of the series concerns the main characters on the one hand "kim" with his smirk trying to better than he can evolve with his character, on the other side ''kamol'' impassive, regardless of the emotional demands of the scene he remains frozen without any expression, and I don't know why, but I liked it ( it matched very well, for a mafia sadistic and cold person despite his young age).

But unfortunately, the themes that the series promotes are very dangerous and dirty. (I do not recommend)

It's so awful that you can't stop watching it and end up loving it.

It's literally the worst. from the poor transitions to the awkward acting. The terrible music. The random scene that make you go why? The entire scenes for product placement that don't ever make sense. And I would still watch it again. Can't look away.

This is the kind of drama you watch if you want a daytime soap opera vibe. And you won't be disappointed going into it if that's how you view it. Don't go in thinking this will be the greatest thing you've ever watched. Watch it for Whippeeld Cream and Kemo.

Unforgotten Series♡

Solid 8.7 series for me. I'm gonna miss it, gonna miss KamolKim the most really. Was it perfect? Not by any means but whether you hate it or love it, , I'm sure it'll be an unforgettable experience having watched it live weekly for everyone cause it kept people talking; To hate on it or give genuine feedback and point out things they did like about it. I personally would definitely rewatch it again no problem. Hope to see YoonTon in future projects also.

Positives:
-The chemistry between Yoon and Ton, I loved. Some people may say Yoon didn't fit the role but I think he did and did it well. I found the way he played Kamol to be alluring, loved seeing that side of him. Ton as Kim did great as well tho admittedly, Kim was abit annoying at times but that's no fault of Ton that his character is the the way that he is since the script is based off a novel. The growth they go through together, they had me rooting for KamolKim's love to workout and make them a fave ship of mine.

- The chemistry the rest of the cast especially Ton and Peat (Baiboon). I haven't read the book but was told that Kim treats him like a son and they have an adorable relationship in the novel and I got that in series. Given the circumstances of the age issue from the novel, Peat did well with his role acting alongside everyone, Gun (Khom) included; Their storyline was sweet and innocent and I appreciated that. Speaking of Gun, I also love the shoot out scenes him and the other 3 bodyguards had, so much, they were amazing in those scene, so props to him, Ku, Tong and Tan.

- Amen as Danil had my blood boiling so kudos to him for playing a good irritating character, tho his evil laugh could use some work. Ging as Cherry was great in her role also, again not her fault Cherry was quite annoying but that's to be expected unfortunately with BLs and females. Beam as Danai was entertaining to watch.

Negatives:

- Lack of DayItt, while others were complaining of their screentime, I honestly didn't mind them and wanted to know more about them. Who knows they might've given me second couple syndrome or have me like them just as much as I love KamolKim.

-Lack of backstory for the bodyguards, it was a nice surprise tho from the promo posters and from what I was told about the novel, I knew it was gonna happen. I just wish we had gotten more to their story.

- Jin? My girl Sammie went missing and I was hoping for something to happen with her and May, oh well.

- The filter on the intimate scenes, weird editing choice.

That's all for the negatives like I said, I enjoyed it. I know people were fussing on about the background music but I didn't care one way or the other about the music to be honest. The intro ost had me singing along to it for sure. Anyways, I recommend this series if you want to something entertaining to shut your brain off to.

It was okay

I’ve heard so many bad reviews about this series, to be honest I didn’t want to at first but I decided to try it out and I was surprised cause it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

The thing is kamol is a mafia but it feels lacking in a way I’ll get to why shortly, Kim on the other hand is so annoying and acts like a chick. He complains and bitch a lot and the worst part is he doesn’t really know what he wants but what annoys me is how he keeps playing with kamol feeling and never understands how being with a mafia is dangerous.

Now I think the reason why people have a problem with this series is it came out shortly after kinnporsche, like Unforgotten night for those who don’t know KP is also about mafias and they really did raise the bar so high. It’s not me comparing but it’s a fact, this series didn’t give mafia vibes or portrayed it well it wasn’t thought over and was all over the place.

Now the sex scenes lacked passion which made things worse, it wasn’t as rough as they first portrayed and was too soft to be bdsm as they’re showing it to be. The bodyguard NG scenes had more passion than kamol and Kim.

All In all it’s not bad and I enjoyed it, I wish Kim was less annoying but it’s manageable.

Terrible but you will still want to watch in hopes of it getting better

Kamol was the best thing about this drama. This drama was so terrible but I watched it purely because Kamol's role kept me engaged. There were a lot of things in this drama that could have been done better. The fight and shooting scenes just terrible. Make up and special effects, awful. It would have been nice if there was more time and effort put into this drama because it had the potential to be outstanding. because the plot is interesting. More research should have been done on how to be dominate or whatever it is called and expressions of passion. The actor who played Kim portrayal of passion was like watching paint dry on a wall. Also, I cannot understand why the director had him making such silly decisions. For example, he knows things are dangerous but he goes to the auction. His cries for attention were just plain silly and were borderline diva antics.
Overall, I thought the drama plot was good but I just didn't like the delivery of the storyline. The acting was just terrible on every level. FYI...I gave the rewatch value a 0 but I have to put in a rating in order to submit the post.

it’s MY trash.

It wasn’t horrible but the plot is messy and patchy. i imagine that the script writer was paid fifty cents and got a loaf of bread as a bonus. they spent their money on trying to make kamol have a luxurious life and said “nah we don’t need to hire editors!! cap cut is free” also the instrumental they use is hilarious and used at inappropriate times IT WAS AMAZING!!!

kim can have everything i have, i will give all of it to him. kamol was funny but gosh he was a little obsessive!! i love the body guards. genuinely laughed during the threesome because why??? did it happen??? i guess they’re in love or some thing. idk idc do your thang babes. im ace so idc about NSFW scenes… these were just so badly shot and edited i laughed.

it was still enjoyable to watch and i wasn’t bored… tho i did skip when things were slow or when they spent too much time on the “he’s so in love fr fr” shots

i’d watch it again and would still be entertained 100%. watch it. thank u this is the first review i’ve wrote

Honestly....

This show was not bad as I thought it was. I did first go into the show knowing that it was bad because everyone was telling me that it was. Still watched it anyways because I thought I would have a different opinion. And I did...

UN is now one of my favorite shows that I have watched and its very enjoyable if you dont start comparing it to other shows like KP.

My favorite characters in this would be Cherry and Danil. Why Cherry? Because she had actual character growth that was shown. Why Danil? Because even though he was bad he didnt want actual harm to happen to Kim.

Till this time now I still remember the entire plot about what happened because it was not forgettable at all.
