Brilliant Writing

This show deserves a great amount of love for its many things, but primarily for its innovative, suspenseful and beautifully crafted plot line. Very few kdramas pull of the intricacy of such a complex story (especially in a mere 12 episodes). There’s too much to praise so I’m just going to list my top 5 favourite things about the show:
1. Completely original, women-centric story which is mainly concerned with socio-economic issues and the desire to be wealthy. It is an age-old tale of poor people wanting more, but because of the female perspective, you can see it in an entirely new light
2. The flawed characters: Some people might dislike the 3 FL’s but that’s kind of the point. How many people in the real world read every contract thoroughly, or wouldn’t take a chance to drastically better their lives?! The sisters are relatable in their imperfections and most people irl aren’t very different. We all have our individual set of values, they can be realistic like In-Joo’s or selfish like In-Hye, and sometimes stupidly brave like In-Kyung’s. The beauty here is that they represent real women, who should be allowed to make mistakes and grow cause that’s only natural
3. The ML’s: Opposite to the FL’s with obvious issues, the ML’s are perfect and won’t ever disappoint you which creates a really nice balance between the characters
4. The villains get applause of their own, of course! I wanted to constantly murder all of them, especially the main antagonist. And that really speaks to her acting skills and how amazingly she portrayed a character so completely evil. Great work from all the negative characters
5. The eerie sound-track and the flower symbolism gets an honourable mention cause it truly tied the direction with the script and enhanced the final product very well.
(Bonus: This needs a sismance tag for all the lasting and heartfelt friendships they portrayed. Female characters supporting and truly ‘loving’ each other is a big part of the show and that’s a nice change from the stereotypes).
Lastly, this show is criminally underrated, I’m guessing because of its lack of cheesy romance and the lesser role of ML’s. People looking for that stuff will undoubtedly be disappointed. But, if someone is looking for a more adult suspense/thriller with very prominent class struggle themes, then this show is certainly worth a watch!

Sisterhood caught up in a conspiracy

Likes:
1) Kim Go Eun and Nam Ji Hyun being in the same drama - When I heard that 2 of my favorite actresses were going to star in the same kdrama, I was elated with excitement because that rarely ever happens. I absolutely loved watching the sisterhood or womance between them and their natural acting continues to shine in my eyes.
2) Wi Ha Joon - this guy is so hot! Not only is he great at acting, but he's also so versatile and he's good at action. I thought he perfectly portrayed his character. You never knew which side he was on. I look forward to seeing him showcase more of his abilities in the future (Maybe a bigger role in Squid games 2?)
3) The interactions between In Joo and Choi Do Il. Although the romance is light as this is a conspiracy mystery, I was completely hooked on the question of will they or won't they.
4) All the twists. I really enjoyed not knowing where the story would end up...that is until I found out who the villain was which brings me to:

Dislikes:
1) Once the Villain is revealed in the latter half, the story becomes a bit too over the top. You will def have to suspend your belief and overlook some ridiculous loopholes at the very end.
2) Having the title Little Women, you would expect more similarities to Louisa May Alcott's Little Women, but I didn't find that to be the case, but it has been awhile since I've read that book.
3) The character development could have been better. There were a handful of times where the character was doing something that seemed "out of" character. We weren't shown enough to understand why they were acting a certain way.

But overall, I enjoyed 75% of this drama. I liked all the twists and cliffhangers leading up to the villain reveal, but especially loved seeing 3 of my fav people in a drama together.

Amazing, simply amazing.

I am just adored by this drama. The suspense, story and plot twist were all done so well. I couldn't easily predict what was going to happen the next episode and just gave up predicting after a while. The story is done so well and I loved that the characters are not top class geniuses like they have prepared their whole life to know what to do in these type of situations. They are normal, everyday human beings that have flaws. Especially In joo, she is like a normal person who got dragged into this mess. It brings a little sense of realism. All the actors did so well in their roles. Especially Kim Go Eun did such a splendid job. The despair and happiness felt so real in the show. The other actors did a spectacular job too. This is must watch, if you like action, thriller and suspense. No boring episodes. It would always leave you at the edge of your seat.

The best drama ever

Little Women the title attracted me because as a literature student and love I thought it will probably be a remake of the classic. Then i saw a clip on youtube and finally started watching the drama when it had 4 episodes released.

In the very beginning I could have never thought this drama which started with the story of three poor sisters' tragic situation and a mother who ran away with her daughter's money will end up to have this many twists and turns.

i usually don't write reviews but this drama deserves it. I loved how the entire cast had the best acting and a perfect storyline. They brought out the characters to such a level that once you start the drama there is no way you will stop talking about it.

The ending deserves a special mention because I believe no one would have thought it would end so smoothly until the very last minute like the last episode was full of twists.

The best drama I have ever watched. This is a much watch.

their chemistry is SO unmatched

them. oh my goodness. they are married with three daughters, I know it, guys.
⋆𐙚 I know that so many people were distraught over their open ending, but honestly, I'd still recommend it, and I don't think it was too bad. I take that, "I'll see you again" from him very seriously, and you should too, lmao. He will be back in a week, max. In the end, it just felt like he was still very involved in her life (scene with In-hye), and that was just the beginning of their story. TRUST. she just needs to be in deep trouble, and he will spawn, no joke.
— So, don't be scared away, except you are really someone who needs at least a kissing scene (they didn't even hug, haha) and a clear indication that they are endgame, then I would maybe rethink.

⋆𐙚 It's worth watching, alone because—Choi Do-il and Oh In-joo's chemistry was one of the best I've ever seen. It was enough for me. I adored them. Every scene between them had me running laps. The subtleness and the softness of their interactions were so AKSJSJ. they are so in love.

⋆𐙚 Choi Do-il has got to be one of my fav male leads now. (it may seem like I say this a lot, but I only have a top 3, alright?? :p) He is so protector.
"Don't you trust how far I will go to protect you?" +
when she asked why he was still helping her even though she didn't have the money anymore, he said that it must have become a habit = A MAN IN LOVE.
— both Wi Ha Jun and Kim Go Eun were amazing. Her acting during emotional scenes was top-notch !!

⋆𐙚 If the romance scares you, and you fear you will be left unsatisfied, consider watching it for other reasons because the plot is VERY engaging. I was so intrigued and rarely felt bored. great mystery thriller with a valuable message !!

Forget about the book this is not your typical slice of life drama.

Before I begin...Is there someone else who also thought Jang Ho (neighbour friend) was kinda SUS throughout the series? I mean he was giving me this weird feeling haha...well maybe it's just me.

To sum up this show- Spoonfuls of penthouse, little bit of Alcott's novel and pinch of squid games= perfect mixture of Little women ready.

This show is everything what Penthouse should be with less screaming, less over the top and unnecessary twists. The way people were coming back alive I was literally taken aback sometimes to see how similar it was to Penthouse and I still blame Joo Dan Tae... hahaha no he was not that crazy here. (Maybe a little). Please give him some good roles for god's sake but he is really good with his antagonist characters. His wife in the show however was really amazing actor I must say its been a while when I liked a negative character this much. She was the real definition of crazy. This show is star studded for sure and you know that they just cannot disappoint you. Special mention for Wa Hi Joon...this guy was like everywhere, helping everyone, rescuing everyone with a swag. He was just slaying every scene. All three female leads were amazing in their roles. You end up praying for them, cry with them, sympathize with them and annoyed with them and enjoyed with them. That was the sort of connection they build with the viewers. While one was naive the second was upright and third ambitious they remained true to their characters till the end.
Out of all three I believe third sister had it the best throughout the show. She was adored by her sisters who tried their best to make all sort of sacrifice just for her. She was even treated in the best way by the antagonists. She never looked back to see the condition of her sisters even in their worst times. So yes, she had the least character growth among them. But the ending will surely make it up to some extent. I loved the grandma the way she made everyone nervous around her. She was the definition of Domineering. I loved her.
The twists will definitely make you doubt people again and again and you will be at the edge of your seat thinking who is friend or not or when will there come a new betrayal...this show did a great job in keeping the attention of the viewers. In the end its been a while when I truly enjoyed a kdrama.
So don't be misled by the name of the show this is not what Louisa May Alcott had written. Its not the slice of life drama you will expect with the name. So go watch it you will definitely enjoy it.

Perhaps the only significant misstep is in the title

There's scant overlap between the source material of "Little Women" and the Korean drama that bears its name. Louisa May Alcott's novel has three sisters that struggle in a family afflicted by poverty, but there's only scattered other parallels between the present drama and either the novel or previous adaptations. And perhaps the most jarring twist in an almost endless string of them is the one that hits quite early on - that this is not at all what a viewer would expect from something called "Little Women".

Kim Go Eun, Nami Ji Hyun and Park Ji Hoo play the sisters In Joo, In Kyung and In Hye respectively. In Joo is a bookkeeper in a corporate office but an outcast among the staff. In Kyung is a reporter at a news station where she seems to get the worst possible assignments like covering a typhoon from the middle of the typhoon. In Hye is a prodigy at oil painting but resents that her older sisters sacrifice for her to pursue her art.

The narrative kicks off with In Joo's only friend at work nonchalantly asking her to help with a side business project she's been working on. And then bad things start happening and it's not clear who's behind them, but there's little question that the Won family and Uhm Ki Joon's Park Jae Sang who has married in to the family are involved. Before long, each of the In sisters entangles herself with this clan and it very likely will not be a healthy relationship.

Kim Hee Won directs and does so masterfully. The production value across the board is flawless. It is exceptionally well shot. The sound editing and score are sublime. The wardrobe, hair and makeup crews killed it. Each episode is a compelling watch in isolation and as the tension builds quite quickly early on, it only ratchets tighter as the series progresses.

The cast is led by some big names like Kim Go Eun and Nam Ji Hyun and Wi Ha Joon. Of those three, Nam Ji Hyun stands out, although all are very good. There's some terrific performances by supporting cast too. Gong Min Jung is a viciously combative colleague of In Kyung. Kim Mye Sook plays a distant, wealthy relative of the In sisters and is terrific. Park Bo Kyung is a frightening operative working for Park Jae Sang.

But the most captivating work is by Uhm Ji Won. Her Won Sang A is definitely not a mentally well person. Is she simply a spoiled princess of the powerful Won family? There's a lot more than that (A WHOLE LOT MORE) and while plenty of mystery surrounds the character, when she's on screen, everything else shrinks. It is hands down the best supporting performance in the genre this year.

If there are flaws, it's that the screenplay gets a little too tricksy at times to feint this way and that. Most often, things are adequately explained, but not always. And there's some inconsistencies in how much control a powerful group holds over courts and judges and prosecutors and the media. At times, it is unlimited and a moment later, they are no more powerful than a corner convenience store.

Highly recommended for the above reasons as well as what is unquestionably the cameo appearance of 2022. "Little Women" is almost certainly the best drama of 2022.

a memorable show with a great cast

I really liked this drama. I was very excited every time an episode came out, even with the first one, goeun's acting captivated me sm. The plot got even better as the time went by and the development of the characters as well. The only thing that I didnt like was that the In-hye sister was left(? idk, i feel it that way, I didnt saw too much participation from her in last eps more than a simple explanation at the end, but it is just a little detail, overall i would compleatly recommend this show

Unsoviing the Mystery Of 70 Billion Won

●FIRST IMPRESSION
What are you gonna do if you have 70 billion won?
Honestly, I was intrigued by this question, when I saw the trailer and the only thing I could think of was a house and higher education just like any common person. pretty similar to the dreams of FL, Oh InJoo who is an average working woman.
The dreams of a common person are a house, a car, and a comfortable life with the family. But what comes with 70 billion is the responsibility, danger, and greed of evilness.

●PLOT VIEW
LITTLE WOMAN, is a drama that takes the audience on a journey of more than a 70billion won.
Murders, accidents, politics, ambition, corruption, greed, broken family, and 3 LITTLE WOMAN in the midst of such chaos
Featuring infamous BLUE ORCHIDS and an illustration of CLOSED ROOMS. The story using these elements as core develops into a thrilling mystery action drama with just a pinch of sweetness. After every episode, it leaves the audience wanting more of everything after and it left the audience at the end even though complete but a pinch of incompleteness.

also, this drama has a spoonful of supernatural delight which goes hand in metaphor for BLUE ORCHIDS.
The background of the Vietnam war terrifying but interesting too. I learned many things about it post-drama.
Even though it was perfect in storytelling, untying the mysterious knots but few bits remained uncleared. I would like to list it all down but then it would be a spoiler I guess.

●CHEMISTRY
This drama also breaks the stereotypes of romance in Kdramas, it was just beautiful and endearing. No cheesy script but a pure trustworthy and understanding relationship.
There are also many relationships, not just romantic ones but friendship, InJoo, HwaYoung, and InHye and HyoRin
which we don't get to see like in other dramas. They had a such pure friendship that it made me fall in love with them.
also, InJoo and Do-il's unsaid relationship is a breaking of the stereotypes of relationships in Kdrama.
InKyung and JungHo were mature friends who understood each other deeply.

●ACTING/CAST
About the cast and acting, it was phenomenal. Whoever did the casting deserves a raise, they were more than perfect. Every character can be a character study because they were deep and layered. Even though you see them first you realize they have more depth after a few episodes for any drama lover.
Park Ji Hu, as Oh Inhye the youngest of the Oh family was annoying and I ended up disliking her but as a young actress, she showed varied emotions of determination in any situation.
Nam Ji-Hyun as Oh InKyung was a stubborn, positive, and moral character who refuses to give up and back away. NJH's soft voice gives a sweet and innocent depth to her character.
Kim Go-Eun as Oh InJoo was flawed yet kind, strong, and daring. She takes all the chances to give her sisters a better life and gets into trouble. KGE was perfectly displaying not just InJoo but all those average working class who work bones to make ends meet. She shows grief, stubbornness, confusion, greed, trust, loyalty, and madness with perfection.
Wi Ha-Joon as Choi DoIl was a magnificent character who was not easy to decipher until the end. WHJ maintained his smile balance and eye depth to make the audience confused. And seeing his previous works every1 is obliged to think of him as a grey character. But when the drama ends he left an impression that won't be forgotten for a long time.
KangHoon as JongHo was a sweet adorable guy who just stood by InKyung. KH seemed so sweet in this character.
Uhm Ji Won, and Uhm Ki Joon were toxic as hell. They were a core subject that can't be ignored, also inspite of having negative characters they can't be hated, for the character portrayal was brilliant. They did the job as actors awesomely.

●MUSIC
This drama had the least OST of the dramas I have watched previously. there are many songs used in the drama sequence which get repeated until you start to humm but this drama, mostly used musical tones rather than lyrical tracks, which was very refreshing.
La Vie was a beautiful undertone song but the lyrics of the song were heard just once. Only the music was used heavily.
The ghost orchid music was powerful. It gives chills down the spine with its ghostly monotonous tone.

●REWATCH
I wish I could forget everything and watch it all over again for the first time. Am rewatching this.

●APPRECIATION
The director deserves appreciation to unfold a mysterious drama mysteriously and keep it mysterious until the end.
The cinematographer deserves applause to show us the astonishing beauty of colors in the form of heels, flowers, clothes, and places many more.

●CRITICISM
The writer and directors were to be blamed who fell short in wrapping up all the loose ends as they wanted to keep everything mysterious until the end and the secrets remained secrets. Not a spoiler but if you are not deep into the drama you won't even notice these details.

ALL YOU WANTED TO KNOW BEFORE WATCHING!!

Using only the vaguest starting points from Louisa May Alcott’s novel of the same name on which it is based, writer Chung Seo-Kyung forged a bold path with her tale of dizzying adventure and hair-raising suspense.
Given the series’ huge reception, one hopes that it will serve as a wake-up call for a conservative industry that still sticks to outdated gender norms.
Adventure and suspense are words that are typically reserved for male-led stories in the Korean market, but Little Women gave us a story dominated by strong, inspiring, and richly characterized women, the likes of which have seldom been seen before.
Following the tribulations of the poor Oh sisters, In-Joo (Kim Go-Eun), In-Kyung (Nam Ji-Hyun), and In-hye (Park Ji-hu), the series ultimately gave viewers exactly what they wanted, but the journey to get there was never predictable and often rousing.
Writer Chung took advantage of the structure of Korean soap opera dramas (also known as makjang), which move at breakneck speed and are peppered with shocking reveals, to give us a story stacked with emotional highlights.
Knowing what we want and how to subvert our expectations, Chung plays us like a fiddle.
