Worthwhile scripting
Just like any historical kdrama, there’s that element of royal betrayal within the royal household but the execution of acting is fun and well worth watching. I fervently wait for each episode as it unfolds the progress of each scenario.Kim Hye soo does well as the queen and the princes seem to do well in their acting. The odd thing is which was quite unusual is the discovery of a queer prince. Despite it though, the queen has accepted it and supports her son. This scene is something that was quite impossible to be portrayed in older kdrama as it was still a taboo back them. The kdrama has come a long way especially for the international audience.
I do recommend it as a light hearted family show to watch. However, there are gory scenes that may not be suitable for toddlers to watch.

Under the queen's umbrella
It was very very beautiful…I don't know when we will see the creation of such a special and wonderful thing again. How beautifully he had depicted informative and pleasant concepts; So that you are full of good feelings. Really, the most horrible king and queen of my life and I saw in this series; One enjoys their harmony, being behind each other, the respect they have for each other, and their goodness, wisdom and knowledge.I was very impressed by the wound on the crown prince's chest, which was caused by a nail scratch due to pain; My oppressed crown prince
Somewhere, my patience ran out of the usual nonsense rules and customs of that time;
Spoiler
If the Crown Prince till gets sick, they are looking for his dismissal 😑 unfairly, wait a little bit, maybe he will get better 😂 or because the Crown Prince's wife has a heart disease and may not be able to have children, they want to dismiss again; Another one is that the one who betrays should be punished and in addition to himself, his family and future generations should also pay ♀️ 🤦 Or if he becomes a crown prince, he will exile or kill other princes because they are considered a threat to him.
I just got my attention on Choi Won yung's ajusih; Recently, I watched two or three serials from him almost back to back, and he has become one of my favorite ajoshis.
And finally, "Under the queen's umbrella", my dear, you are one of the series that will remain in my heart forever

Magnificent piece of work
I was memorized from the first episode until now . I'm currently viewing the 12th episode and I'm still riding this emotional rollercoaster! Kudos to everyone especially the writer (s) because without the foundation and concept of this magnificent piece of work this story would never be told. Bravo to the director for his foresight to bring this drama series to the screen; along with everyone involved with the making of this project!! All I can say without including any spoilers is to watch it for yourselves and you will know exactly what I am talking about ☺️. Breathtaking scenes, cinematography etc. Especially the camaraderie amongst the princes and the dynamics of being a mother!! I want to give "thanks," to all the subbers for giving me the opportunity to embark on this amazing historical journey!! Bravo, bravo 👏Was this review helpful to you?

Love this K-drama
This drama is entertaining.I love the queen who would do everything to protect her remaining four sons, the Grand Princes, and her deceased Crown Prince's family following the death of her eldest son, the Crown Prince.
The main protaganist, the Queen, who was happily married to her king, never bothered her four sons so the boys were let to do their own things which affected their studies. When her eldest son fell ill, she sought out help from the previous deposed Queen who was deposed from her position following the death of her eldest son. She also learnt from the deposed Queen that the latter's remaining three sons were murdered by the killer.
From that moment onwards, the current Queen decided to train her sons to be eligible for the position of the Crown Prince in order to safeguard her family.

Parenting, plotting, palace intrigue—Queen Im multitasks better than your Wi-Fi
Though historical Chinese dramas often share similarities, and I enjoy them anyway, this Korean drama thankfully avoids being a mere clone of Mr. Queen. From the acting, to the production, to the delivery, to the cast, to the cinematography, to the music, everything was chef’s kiss. Starting with the Titular character, Kim Hye Soo is brilliant as Queen Im Hwa Ryung who literally runs around the courtyard, trying to hasten her children, those who need the discipline, while trying to cover up for her children, those who need protection. Despite this, she finds the energy to foil plots hatched by numerous concubines and the formidable Queen Dowager. Kim Hye Soo’s micro-expressions and voice modulation at different times were entertaining to watch. I was impressed by her strength as a ruler, compassion as a mother, and her capacity for forgiveness.
The rest of the cast, her children, the king, the concubines and the Queen Dowager were all great in their performances. Despite their flaws, the characters were portrayed with complexity and multi-dimensionality, the nuances of their performances giving them meaning.
Although the many wives and children of the King initially made it hard to follow, the story’s intricate interwoven plots are not overly confusing. A character chart that I googled came in handy at this point. However, the complexity of the plot was warranted; the mysteries and adventures kept me on my toes.
If you are expecting a grand romance, it’s not really the focus of the drama. Though it has romantic elements, it was only on the surface level, just an addendum to some of the story line, but could also be unnecessary.
One thing that surprised me about this drama is that it tackled the sensitive topic of gender dysphoria. I did not imagine a character who is transgendered to be written in a historical work. My point isn’t that trans people were absent then, but rather, their existence was seldom or never addressed. The Queen’s handling of this situation was bittersweet, to say the least.
Despite the difficulty of drawing present-day applicable lessons from this drama, it’s still worth watching. We should see the Queen from her perspective, not as a member of the royal family, or anyone with countless sister-in-laws (unless you’re into polyamory), but as a mother to her children, a wife to her husband, who would go through great lengths to protect the people she loves.

Holly.....
Holly....The way there is so much to say but nothing I can say at all, already says a lot. When I tell you this was genuinely a masterpiece. I mean it at the end of this. I was quite literally in tears. I just felt the connection that the characters had with each other and the mother. I loved that the main character display throughout the show love and understanding, so deeply that it really resonated with me. And that is what I think makes the good quality of thid show. When an actor really knows how to display character so well to where you really can feel, through the screen, the connection each of the characters have to where you'd never get bored. That's the gem of the show. By the end of the show I was genuinely brought to tears. I never wanted the show to endI was always surprised, pleasantly. And one thing I can definitely say cause I quietly teally have no words. I will always recommend this show and if I could go back to the past, I'd watch this all over again.

Imagine the most predictably unpredictable main character. Yeah.
I love dramas where the main character is in peril (character development! high emotion! fun!), and I definitely started this show absolutely knowing that this main character is going to be put through the wringer every second of her screentime. I was ready. I was so ready.But...she, supposedly, saw it all coming. What? All the lying, the scheming, the action, the nail-baiting tension...she was always, ALWAYS, one step ahead of everybody else. And that's just unbelievable.
Therefore, this character had zero growth and zero flaws. Her only "flaw" was loving her sons too much? Give me a break! All the other characters, including the Queen Dowager and the concubines, are given well-fleshed out, thoughtful arcs where they grow as characters, but our main character is born so perfect that from start to finish, every decision she makes, every word she speaks, every punishment she mettles out, is thought through with the world's most elaborate game of 3D chess playing in her head.
Acting wise, while everyone was okay, the Queen Dowager and First Consort really stole EVERY scene they were part of! And with characters as rich, deep and well-rounded as them, it's a real treat to see how these talented actors make them come alive so incredibly. Which brings me back to the conversation about the Queen's character because this is, after all, an entire 16 episode TV show about the Queen protecting her children from certain death. The slight overacting aside, I really don't think the Queen's character really made me feel anything for her except, "Damn, she thought of this too?" Some of the "logical deductions" she made were absolutely insane given how shoddy, incomplete and limited the evidence for it was, and yet, with an eyebrow twitch and run-walking, she managed to outsmart some really, really smart people/plans.
Which is just boring, in my opinion.

Under The Queen's Umbrella
I don't have the words to describe this kdrama because I just think it's the most beautiful series I have ever seen.I fell in love with historical kdramas after Moon Lovers and honestly, none of them have ever disappointed me so far, but I have to say that Under The Queen's Umbrella is just a masterpiece.
Far from the usual throne debates, it simply depicts a mother's pure love, ready to do anything for her children, to protect them at all costs, against all odds. A mother who accepts and embraces her children as they are and encourages them to follow their destiny...
I couldn't have said it better than Kim Hye Soo for playing the role of the queen. She interpreted the character so well that at one point I wondered if she wasn't simply born to be a queen.
I know, so much praise for a series that others consider "been there, done that," but you really have to experience the story to understand the beautiful message it conveys. Love.
I've watched it over and over, and I never get enough. The story is so well written that you never grow tired of it.
