A kdrama that i finished watching within 2 days!

Wow, what an amazing kdrama. I have never watched this kind of plot, the reality of “influencer”.

I actually never intended to watch this but after reading the plot, I thought that I should give a try and wow who would have thought that I finished watching this within 2 days

The plot is so intriguing, I can’t stop watching!!!!! I love this kdrama, this is a gem, a kdrama that you wouldn’t expect you would love! All the actors in this kdrama are also great.

I really love the female lead 😭 I wish there could be more scenes between female lead and male lead cause the chemistry between two of them is off the charts!

I really love this drama I stayed up all night watching this series because it was just to interesting to turn if of.
And I read some complains about the romance but tbh i think their romance is actually pretty nice.
In my opinion the acting is really good and realistic.
I'm also a fan of dramas exposing different industries in realistic ways i could really imagine some influencers behaving like that taking dr*gs and using other people for their fame.
And I could really feel all the emotions im this drama its one of the few dramas where i really cried.
I whould definitely rewatch it soon

SO GOOD!!

Every episode had me hooked, and it didn’t have a slow start, and it kept its moment. nowadays, the new K dramas that are coming out, They usually have a slow start and a good middle point, but this K drama really just kept going and it was so well done. Every episode was so interesting and it kept you on your toes and keeps you wondering what’s going to happen next.

Even though this K drama didn’t have that much romance in it, I still liked the side plot between the main love interest and the main character. I think they have such great chemistry and i was really happy that they ended up being together in the end.

Also, I can’t help, but think that there might be a season two because I mean you don’t put Lee Junho at the end of the episode for like three minutes of screen time for nothing and I definitely think there’s gonna be another season or just like another part of celebrity and I’m really looking forward to it. I think even season two would do it justice and I think it’s gonna be really good and if it’s gonna have Lee Junho in it im definitely gonna be watching it and I’m so glad that more K dramas are casting Lee Junho.

Okay no I’m starting to talk about Lee Junho now lol.. not about him but I really do recommend this K drama it’s really good and if you like a good revenge plot this is the one for you and you will definitely enjoy it.

A Glittering Mess of Power, Scandals and Good Editing

This was one of those dramas where no area specifically stands as such, but is so enjoyable and entertaining that you just can't stop watching!

Seo A-ri was a solid lead—strong, independent, and gave me the same vibes that Dali did from Dali and the Cocky Prince. But at some point, her journey started feeling like rinse and repeat. One second, she’s on top, the next, she’s canceled, then she makes a comeback, then she’s back in the trenches. Sure, it shows how fickle the influencer world is and how easily the public can be swayed, but from a storytelling perspective? It started feeling repetitive.

Speaking of impossible things—HOW did she survive driving herself into the river?? Like, I need a step-by-step guide on how someone drowns, saves themself, gets declared dead for three months (i believe), and then just… comes back with barely any explanation. And then there’s the best friend situation—how do you let it slide when your so-called best friend was running a hate account against you while you were already drowning in online hate?? And her brother just… forgave it?? What was that??

Gabin Society—the so-called "villains" of this drama weren’t real villains. They were just influencers on a power trip, mistaking their internet clout for actual control over people’s lives. The show did a great job of exposing how these types of people act untouchable, but their entire empire can crumble with a single piece of dirt. The influencer economy is built on perception—one wrong move, and it’s game over. That being said, Yurang was definitely one of the best written characters in the show, relatable and made us empathize for her.

But honestly, all of these characters could have been fleshed out way more. Jun-kyung’s backstory? Barely there. His relationship with Si-hyeon? Barely explored. Si-hyeon in general? Underdeveloped. A-ri’s character? We got to see her strength, but I wish we had more insight into who she really was and her backstory. It felt like we scratched the surface of these characters, but they never fully came to life. Instead, we got too much screentime dedicated to the budget Mean Girls of Gabin Society, when their personalities were already clear from episode one.

This is where opinions might divide, but for me? Jun-kyung and A-ri needed to be together. From the second they met, I knew they were it. And I love the kind of romance that isn’t forced down our throats but instead builds subtly with just enough tension to keep you yearning. Yeah, they barely got any scenes together, but sometimes less is more. It made the moments they did share feel even more impactful. The reunion at the end? Perfect. Both of them thinking the other was dead, only to finally see each other again? Yeah, that hit.

Meanwhile, Tae-jeon was a waste of screentime. He contributed nothing but irritation. The drama could have cut him out entirely and it would have been better for it.

A lot of people expected Celebrity to be a scathing critique of influencer culture, but it never fully went there. Instead of exposing the real dark side of social media, most of the scandals felt like glamorous drama rather than actual horror. The only truly dark and impactful moment was the drug scandal and the bar guy's death. Everything else? Just surface-level chaos that made for good entertainment but didn’t hit deep.

That’s also why the stakes didn’t feel as high as they should have. Yeah, there were moments of tension, but when the big reveal happened, it didn’t leave a lasting impact. It was one of those twists where you go, “Oh wow, I didn’t expect that,” but then five minutes later, you’ve already moved on. If this was a really good thriller, I should have been obsessed with the ending, replaying moments in my head, piecing everything together. But instead, I was just like, “Oh. Okay. That happened.”

Cinematography & Editing were the true MVP. Now this is what made me stay. Absolutely top-tier. I am such a sucker for good cinematography, and this drama delivered. Every episode was visually stunning, but what really stood out was the way they transitioned between past and present, between the livestream and the real-time events. It made the entire thing feel immersive, like you were flipping between a true crime documentary and a K-drama.

The way the show opened, the way it presented itself—it was honestly so cool. Even if you weren’t fully into the plot, the editing alone made it worth watching. It had a sharp, stylish quality that elevated it beyond just another influencer drama. The drama might have had its flaws, but visually? It ate.

Final Thoughts – Entertaining, but Could Have Been Deeper
At the end of the day, Celebrity was a fun, messy ride. It had great acting(ocsassionally fell off a little), stunning cinematography, and moments that ALMOST hit greatness. But the repetitive pacing, underdeveloped characters, and unanswered questions kept it from being truly iconic. If they had leaned in more—whether into the social commentary, the character development, or the thriller aspect—it could have been so much more.

That being said, it was still hella entertaining, and I’d give it an 8/10.

Intriguing story about influencers

I'm done watching it, and I really hope if there is a second season, they will give us more scenes of not just the romance of Ah Ri and Jun Kyoung but the friendship of Ah Ri and Si Hyun as well.

If you are interested in those influencers lives or if you always drop some hate comments on celebrities, this is a great series to watch. You'll definitely relate to this, lmao. I realized a lot while watching this one: that I should not invest too much in celebrities' lives and not hate someone just because social media told me so. Because at the end of the day, we don't know the truth behind everything, and they're also humans.

It's not the best thing I've seen, but it was really intriguing for me until the last three episodes because things suddenly happened so fast. It's so obvious that it will have a second season due to how they fold everything. I can't wait for that.

Additionally, since the coverage of influencers these days is increasing and we always hear news about these people on social media, this kind of topic is a great thing to tell people. It's also a binged worthy!

Boring & Glamorous is Temporary

I finished watching the whole drama today, it took two days. Seo A-ri is an ordinary girl who became an e-celeb from zero. It's really a miracle. She collided with the Gaebin society and became an influencer with million followers. I don't know why Yoon Shi Hyun first seemed to be Seo A-ri's biggest rival. And there is a reason to doubt that she talked to Han Joon Kyung repeatedly even after marriage. She worries about everything and wants to take everything on her shoulders. This is the most suspenseful thing for me. But in the end, she was a good person.

I was expecting a bit of romance. No, it's just how the heroine will reduce her fame. The Comedy wasn't heavy here also.

And if there is anyone who is the real bitch of the whole drama, it is bbbbeauty.

There is also the part of boring, the lead actress who comes live and told to everyone's action stories over and over again. Finally, what happened ??
After so many stories and the cheat code revealed everything, she moved on to the same social media again. Then we got the viewer what message?? After watching this drama, I felt that no matter how you earn fame in the glamorous life today, there is no guarantee that it will be the same the next day.

High on Adrenaline Rush

Fast-paced, addicting, thrilling.
Most of the times I'm more of a character driven type of person but the plot in this one is too good to overshadow the simplicity of the characters.

This drama is really good to watch when you're stressed or anxious, because there are barely chill scenes in this. Everyone is either euphoric or extremely distressed, almost all of them operate on the extreme sides of spectrum, and it's entertaining in a way that it looks so dramatic and leaves you wondering what will happen next.

I love how the story flows back and forth but still slowly builds up the mystery and suspense until the very end.

Also it kind of hits different when you're into korean entertainment in general, because i feel like they satirize them pretty well in here. I actually enjoyed this one.

Something different

I came across a fresh and unique story today, one that stood out among the 600+ Asian dramas I've watched. This drama sheds light on the darker side of the film industry and explores how individuals navigate through its challenges. While the saying goes, 'one rotten apple spoils the barrel,' in reality, some manage to remain untainted amidst the negativity.

I particularly enjoyed the chemistry between Han Joon Kyung and Seo Ah Ri, even though their on-screen time together was limited. Their interactions were adorable, and I found myself wishing for more scenes between them.

However, the confusion arose from the last scene, leaving me wondering about the possibility of a second season. Would a continuation introduce a love triangle or possibly exclude Han Joon Kyung's character?

Overall Impression:

If you want to watch a K-drama on Netflix with a unique and solid plotline and great acting, look no further. Originally from the first episode, I thought this drama was just going to be nonstop catfights and petty beef for lighthearted entertainment. Happy to say I was wrong. This drama is so much more, and just got deeper and better after each episode.

The beginning of the drama gives us a peek into the lives of a group of Korean Instagram influencers called the Gabin Society. As the show progresses, we discover what truths lie behind the feeds of these gorgeous girls, showcasing a life filled with luxury, happiness and fine aesthetic pleasures, where they seemingly have it all. Our main protagonist, Seo Ari, finds herself becoming involved in this world of glitz and glamour after an encounter with an old friend (Minhye) who’s a part of this society. One thing leads to another, and Ari decides to join in on this web celeb lifestyle as she believes it’ll improve her current social and economic status, but later embroils herself in unwanted situations that threatens to wreck her stability and sanity.

Things I thought were done well/likes:
- Time Jumps. These were the main plot device. Scenes within each episodes jump back and forth from the time of a present-day livestreaming Ari, thought to be deceased by her circle, to the time the events she's narrating in the livestream take place. It usually starts with Ari suggesting something cryptic, but she leaves the viewers hanging by only stating the conclusion, giving us time to make our own predictions about what happened. The secrets aren’t exposed until they play out in the past timeline, and this does a great job at keeping curious viewers engaged.
- Eye-catching and Interesting Characters. Ari was calm, intelligent, strong with an emotionally mature way of thinking, and super cute, with her lil bob hair nicely framing her face, but also not the in-your-face type of cute, making her the perfect underdog influencer protagonist to support. And then there were also the Gabin Society girls, each with their own backstory that kept me interested in them, and their husbands, who also had their own idiosyncrasies. Only stereotypical character was Joonhyuk, but he is the handsome cutie of the cast and that more than compensates for his lack of personality…hehe
- Modern-Day Relevancy. The toxicity and performative nature of social media. Followers, likes, etc. as the main form of social currency. Transactional friendships formed on the basis of mutually beneficial cooperation. The destructive power of potential gaslighting and deception by anonymous users like @_bbbfamous (oh the irony…). Though it’s obvious the vast majority of this story is a dramatized depiction, this drama still touches on things that are too real and relevant to the year 2023. I think this drama would be interesting to revisit a couple years down the line.

Things I thought could be improved/dislikes:
- The romance. Granted, this drama isn’t centered around romantic love. The relationship between Ari and Joonkyung isn’t at all the point. But it’s odd how their attraction to one another seemed to have developed out of nowhere. It would’ve been much better if the writers had just squeezed in a few emotional and intimate moments between the two to build the chemistry first, rather than make it seem like she reciprocated his affection only because he was always around to support and protect her. Makes me think the romance was added simply to force the plot in a specific direction, but I guess it worked so it’s fine.
- Ending. Justice was served! I just wish they made it more impactful somehow. There were so many opportunities to add in a pithy message that speaks to problems with the internet and its devastating effects today that would’ve resonated with people and be quoted again and again missed.

Overall an 8.5/10. Definitely recommend adding this drama to your watchlist! :)
