Seok Ho, fearing he won’t graduate, attempts suicide and is sent to a mental institution, where he convinces fellow patient Hong Ik to escape with him. After various struggles, they become miners and meet a young woman. Dreaming of an ideal land, they plan to settle on a deserted island. However, Seok Ho realizes the island is an illusion and flees with the woman, leaving Hong Ik behind.
