Totally Unexpected while hitting the tropes right
This was a fun show to watch. I enjoyed all the tropes they threw in. It's refreshing to see the writers make fun of the tropes and use them to enhance the show instead of as a crutch to support the show. The who-done-it mystery was stretched just the right amount. They made me laugh, cry, breathe a sigh of relief, believe in love, and want to see all of the couples form. I feel bad for poor SSL as in the end, he still hadn't found his Aphrodite. Was this review helpful to you?
I have been in a drama slump... just dropped about 8 of them including those which have been hyped a lot as hits. Nothing has been working for me so this was a truly pleasant surprise. The story is full of cliches and all the usual tropes but well executed. The wardrobe is a stand out. Beautiful OST and some surprising changes to the tropes as well - no misunderstandings - they are nipped in the bud really fast as they emerge which is great.
The dialogues are really good - particularly the subtle sensual ones - 'Are you offering yourself to me ? says the ML to the FL with sweet/smouldering look.... wowza!
The story kicks off with a wild case of mistaken identity and just keeps piling on the twists and turns. The male lead’s got secrets, and somehow, in the middle of all the chaos, he starts falling for the female lead who honestly is CHAOS personified.
Let’s talk about the male lead because, honestly, he owns this show- smooth, intense, brooding, and occasionally so vulnerable you’ll want to jump into the screen and give him a hug. His side-smile game? On point. The female character is strong, fun, a bit crazy and really liberated in the nicest way.
Don’t even get me started on his chemistry with the female lead—it’s electric, but not in that cheesy, over-the-top way.
Beyond all the drama and mystery, the show is about trust, figuring out who you really are and realising you don’t have to be perfect to deserve love. Oh, and there’s a healthy dose of “Will they? Won’t they?” to keep you emotionally invested.
"Guess Who I Am" is like a bag of chips—you tell yourself you’ll just watch one episode, and next thing you know, it’s 2 AM, and you’re debating calling in sick to finish it. The lead’s acting is what makes it truly special.
Rating: 4.5/5 – Watch it for the mystery, stay for the male lead’s smoldering sweet gazes and acting and the great chemistry. The romance of the other two couples is quite adorable as well.

IRRITATING FEMALE LEAD
IRRITATING FEMALE LEAD, BUT THE DRAMA IN GENERAL IS A ONE TIME WATCH.- BEST FRIENDS CONCEPT
- GOOD SECOND AND THIRD LEAD COUPLES
- EVEN A GOOD VILLIAN BUT JUST THE HEROINE SPOILS THE ENTIRE DRAMA, BUT THE HEROINE CHARACTER MATURES A BIT AFTER 15TH EPISODE BUT UNTIL THEN YOU WILL DEFINITELY HAVE A DILEMMA IF WE SHOULD DROP THIS DRAMA. I STUCK AROUND AS I LIKED THE OTHER CHARACTERS IN THE DRAMA.
- NOT A DRAMA THAT WILL MAKE YOU JAW DROP WITH THE ROMANTIC SCENES AS IT WILL BE DEFINITELY SPOILED BY THE FEMALE LEAD.
- THIS DRAMA IS A MERE 7 ONLY BECAUSE OF HER .

Romance + thriller/mystery with smart female lead
This drama was part of my watchlist because I wanted to watch romance with thriller/mystery element with a smart female lead. Such a fun series to watch! What I liked:
1) Song Yao characterisation - I love that she is smart and resourceful - a femme fatale instead of a damsel in distress. I wasn't a fan of her secret weapon but some scenes were funny. Glad that she didn't use too much of her secret weapon because that could cloud viewers' judgement on her capabilities.
2) Ji Cheng Chuan characterisation - I like that he is a working class character and not your typical cold, bossy CEO character. He is smart and compassionate and at times naive about love.
3) Acting - This is my second drama of Wang Zi Qi (the first being Once We Get Married) and I enjoyed his acting. This drama has more action scenes and he seemed to handle the stunts and fighting choreography quite well. This is my first Zhang Yu Xi drama and I quite enjoyed her acting too. She did great in portraying Song Yao's vulnerability.
4) Romance - I enjoyed the romance between Song Yao and Ji Cheng Chuan. They were true partners, in personal and professional aspects of their lives. Even though there are not many kissing scenes, there were plenty of eye gazing, genuine smiles, hand holding and small gestures.
5) Supporting characters - Sheng Si Lin is surprisingly my favourite supporting character. I didn't like him at the start of the series because his purpose in the drama was to provide comedic relief but my thoughts changed when I watch his transformation from a himbo heir / socialite to a man worthy of managing his family's company. I also enjoyed the change of dynamics between Sheng Si Lin, Song Yao and Ji Cheng Chuan. Song Lingren is another favourite of mine too.
6) Villain - Despite being obvious to the audience, the villain arc was done well and the actor acted well too.
7) Ending - I like how the mystery/thriller saga was brought to conclusion because I was worried about how the writers going to wrap up that saga. It's great that Song Yao was shown both positive and negative responses to her novel - that scene and the actual meet cute were delightful to watch!
What I disliked:
1) Misfortunes - I pity Song Yao for facing many misfortunes, with 2 life-threatening ones.
2) Liang Jing Yi - An annoying character who silly enough to not that she was a pawn in a bigger game. For someone who studies abroad, she seemed quite sheltered / lacking life experience and unworldly.
Favourite scene:
Wedding of Ji Cheng Chuan and Song Yao. That twist was unexpected!

complicity at its best!
first time i really enjoy the intro song! gives you the exact fresh jazziness we need from the main couple!while the story is extravagant, stereotyped and cringe, the main characters were really well done! they made me enjoy this drama!
what i loved most was the couple
-their wittiness and authenticity
-complicity ! i love that we see them grow more and more connected to each other and how they communicate!
-they both had strong cohesive personality that did not unexpectedly change to fit the plot!
-Most shows start strong when it involves undercover/ con artists, but 2-3 episodes in we never see that side again... Here, we were ALWAYS reminded of their con artist talents!
-the love triangle ? well handled
- the bad guys? a little overdone...
enjoyable romcom!

Story: ngl the story is kinda convoluted and a bit confusing to me. Also, I feel like there are a lot of loopholes to her power that kinda just seems like they’re bs-ing in the show. And like there’s no explanation/lore as to why that happened other than just a quirk she has. At least they don't drag out the confession till the end of the show. In terms of romance, I think the chemistry between the different actors is there and the dynamics are quite unique imo, and the comedic moments are actually pretty funny. Also, my headcanon is that whenever she does the eye thing with him, she’s his ideal type and that’s why her appearance doesn’t change.
Acting/Cast: idk smth abt the lead actress’s acting seems kinda silly to me. Other than that, the other actors are good and act natural.
Music: Fit the situations well and some of them are worth relistening.
Rewatch value: For me, it’s a one and done, but I did like the story.

PLOT: (Unfortunate) meeting between a young heir, the ML, who returns in China to claim the Chairman position and inheritance, and a FL. She has the gift of “charm” and runs a “justice” agency. The events will lead the CL to get married (contract), then to help each other to discover what is hidden about the "accidents" which have taken place for 15 years.
PROS:
+ Good actors and good chemistry within the CL.
+ a more or less coherent story
+ balance investigation / humor / romance
+ Effective production, without length.
CONS:
- You need a lot of indulgence to accept the obvious twists, the plotholes, the clichés (which the screenwriter himself makes fun of :)
- the heroes who go alone to face the Villains, and the police who arrive when it's all over... We're tired of it!!
=> To be seen only as entertainment and for Wang Zi Qi
**********************************************************************

The most self-aware and entertaining cliche-fest you'll watch in a long time.
Let me just start off by saying that this drama, by no means, is flawless. Not even close. Nuh-uh. If we're talking logic and realism, you won't find it here for the most part. In regards of the thriller/mystery aspect, it's way too convenient. There's way too many co-incidences and the cops are non-existent. The world in this drama is perfectly curated for the main characters-- a fantasy, if you say so.Then, what's up with my rating? Oh, yeah. Did I not mention how effing entertaining this drama actually really is?
'Guess Who I Am' is pure mindless entertainment. If you're willing to overlook everything that isn't related to the romcom aspect of this show, this drama is an easy ride. The fun main leads, accompanied by equally spunky supporting characters, ensure that there won't be a single boring moment as long as they're on-screen. Everyone has amazing natural chemistry with each other and the actors seemed like they were genuinely having fun on set, which made things all the more better. Coupled with actually hilarious moments, sweet kisses, warm hugs, loving stares and much-appreciated communication-- as a romcom, this drama is top-notch. This was like one of those mini c-dramas but with longer episodes and honestly? That's literally what I was asking for since those mini ones barely ever hold my attention.
In conclusion, if I had to rate this drama as nothing more than a rom-com, it'd be a 9/10. But admittedly, everything else is nonsensical. However, this is literally the best guilty pleasure I've seen in a long while. For the sake of the romances, laughs and chemistry-- definitely worth the watch.

Funny, adorable and entertaining. solid 8/10
lmao i honestly went in with no expectations but i was pleasantly surprised.anyone willing to invest their time in this, MUST know that this is literally not made to be ''great'',
its inaccurate sometimes, has little plot holes and the story may get dragging during the middle,
but the entire idea of the whole story being written by someone else is really refreshing and cute.
The writer (also the fl) writes a novel about literally EVERYTHING where she is the FL in the novel as well.
This has a contract marriage, supernatural powers, detective mystery, childhood friends to enemies to friends to lovers and two other adorable pairing with their own dynamics lmfao.
The ML in the novel exits irl as well, and him and FL meet at the end of the drama,
you might not want to see it bcz of it but their chemistry is so amazing trust me you'll end up wanting to.
the story is so incredibly hilarious and the FL and MLs acting and chemistry was what made me like the story so much.
so in conclusion,
def worth a try if you want something funny and unserious! <3

Mystery intrigue : Cons make better detectives.
Mystery intrigue... with Wang Zi Qi and Zhang Yu Xi.An Intersting new tale of detective & cold case mistery mixed in with childhood friends meet fated love. A great lighthearted watch with cute cast in a play with story within story script. Don't underestimated their ability to portray emotions, and tap the literary "4th wall". So many good scenes, imagery, symbolism, and lines of wisdom from our teams. And a hidden gem perfomances from Liu Zhe Hui (because everyone needs a best tech support wingman) and He Peng ("super hero idol in disguise).

Cute, funny with great chemistry!
*Just a small midway review. *Watch it for the lovely chemistry between the leads, some really good acting and an really quirky story!
STORY : Went in with minimal expectations but was pleasantly surprised by how funny the story is! The story is actually something I have not seen before even though it is mistaken identity, revenge, contract marriage, etc, it has a very different approach to it all. Things are quite light hearted and FL and her friends are crazy hilarious bunch!
First episode might seem confusing, but just continue watching and it gets clearer.
Just don't expect too much logic and stuff, it's just like most of the other C dramas in that aspect. If you you don't take it seriously you will enjoy it.
ACTING : Have liked ZYX (FL) since 'love at night', so checked it out for her and she has a nice quirky role in this. ML is also really good and I am planning to check out his old shows now!
CHEMISTRY : Both the leads have a very cute and sweet chemistry. ML is a total sweetheart especially as the episodes go by. (I want to write more about it but it might be a spoiler, so I am going to resist writing about it! Lol) Either way watch it for them!

Wang Zi Qi Zhang Yu Xi Drama
Thank You. I've been waiting for this drama to air for a long time. Very good drama and recommended even though the wait was long. Drama starring Wang Zi Qi and Zhang Yu Xi. CEO and woman with magic eyes. It's funny every time a rich man sees those magic eyes. The author of the novel is extraordinary in his creativity in writing. In the end, an exciting drama was created. Very sweet drama to watch. I enjoyed watching every episode. Continued success for the drama. Hopefully it will enter TOP Drama. Was this review helpful to you?
