Fun times

Posted this review in the wrong section, so I'm reposting it here. This is the review I wrote when it had just gotten done airing on Netflix.

This drama was so refreshing and fun. There are a lot of tropes that are common in romcoms, but they are well done and funny. Plus, the relationships the main leads all have with each other are so nice and wholesome. For example, the friendships that the respective best friends have and how they are always wanting what is best for the other/holding each other accountable. When this drama was announced, I was so excited and had high expectations, which were met. I wish it were more than just 10 episodes, and that we got to see the leads get engaged. I hope to see the main leads in more romcom dramas because this was so good, and the other dramas I have seen them in haven't been romcoms. Definitely a 10/10, and I recommend this to everyone who wants a lighthearted, funny, easy breezy drama.

To the point

What I liked a lot about this is that there wasn’t wasted episodes on clarifying pasts, nor present. The present (relationship) came into play for leads and it progressed beautifully. We didn’t have to worry about it happening fast then the doom to come. There’s a hiccup but resolved quickly and favorably in such a way to strengthen the leads love.

Cast are great. Kim Ok Bin, I was not familiar with, but I’m a fan. Her character is great, straightforward, and bad ass, literally. Yoo Teo, main guy is the matured actor in the act that is honest and kind. His bromance with his manager and best friend played by Kim Ji Woon is the kind of friendship we crave for.

I don’t want to make this long because so many have greatly reviewed this. I’m just adding on that is a great watch. Don’t let this one pass you by. You’ll miss out.

Finally a love story that felt real

I am gonna be honest, I watch lots of k drama that are good for the environment, for the funny moments, for the sad and dramatic moments, but even if the love story is the center usually is the thing that feels less true, all the messages about life, works and many things are felt more then the love between 2 people that even if are beautiful and adult usually have (when you are lucky) 1 ex bf or gf.
Instead here I need to say the love story has a sense and feels true from beginning to end, I love how it criticize the marriage culture in Korea and how it criticize the way woman are seen if they behave freely. Even if the FL is a bit over the top (she is so strong and she seems to be able to do every manly thing) I love that they made her that strong and that independent, and I love almost every other female character too, how her mother speaks against the patriarchal system, and how the character of the famous divorced actress is proud to be friend with her and how she get to the fact that what the other people thinks of you, whatever, let them think. The most i love about the series is that "sex" is not a forbidden word, and that the protagonist doesn't even have to say I love you before doing it, at the first offical date. This are elements that made the drama feel more true to me. I thought that in the finale there would've been the usual wedding scene anyway, because "loves changes you" and all this crap as it happens in many dramas, instead FL doesn't change, she stay herself, but this doesn't mean that she can't find love, and the ML loves her for this reason too, for how different she is from what you expect for a woman in Korea. I also loved the storyline of the ex of the ML, because her story is the one of someone who tried to be a strong woman from the inside of the society, at its rules, but inevitably this rules guides you to unhappiness, she lost love to this, I found it great the analogy between her and the FL. For an easy 10 episode k drama that I thought it was a relaxed EtL I think it was amazing.
Maybe the second couple could use a couple episodes more but I think for saying what needed to be said it's ok this way.

A good drama for a weekend watch

As the title of this review says, an excellent drama for a weekend afternoon watch. Honestly, it's been a while since I watched a really good drama, full of laughs and without that heart-wrenching anticipation of whether the main characters will ever give in to their feelings, without love triangles and etc. I don't want to go too deep into the plot, but this is a drama that will make you love it from the first episode because it's simple, funny and just somehow different from the rest.

Also, Teo Yoo is fine af!!

Yoo Teo is a Swoon-fest and I'm Here For It

Is this drama a feminist fantasy? Yes.

Does it go overboard into try-hard girlboss territory? Heck no, and that's why I love it.

I loved the FL's spunk while still being earnest, capable and humble. She's not really a gangster, so much as she is unapologetically herself in her convinctions and choices, who also happens to kick literal ass for justice. Kim Ok Bin made her likeable, bold, but still down to earth which made her buckets of fun to watch. A line from her goes, "I'm tough to the bullies but soft to the weak."

And boy does our ML go weak for her. At first he come across as haughty but just beneath the surface is a sweet, vulnerable, affectionate, cinnamon roll. Make no mistake, ML is absolutely a boyish hunk which is usually not my style because of how immature they are usually played, but Yoo Teo has changed my mind. Especially when he goes ,"I RESPECT YOU" (greatest declaration of love right here folks).

Also the skinship in this drama is goddamn swoonworthy. Yes the chemistry is off the charts but also the expressions play such as huge role. Yoo Teo shows so much vulnerability that you can literally read the ML's expression like an open book in every scene and know that he is 1000% truly and deeply in love with the FL. He wants her to know by affirmation, praise, touch, hug and kisses that she means the world to him. Yoo Teo's puppy like face worked sooo well in this because the director and screenwriter did not make him overdo it, and it paid off beautifully.

The dynamic between the main leads may show FL as the more dominant one but you soon realise it's a relationship of give and take. ML may seem submissive but he shows his maturity when he communicates openly and clearly to the FL. And what girl wouldn't go soft for this? As our FL falls in love, she softens, showing a playful, girlish side that interestingly does not make her any less likeable. The relationship is healthy, as both leads who initially resented the opposite sex based on stereotypes, learn to cherish and respect each other exactly as they are. Literal fanfic levels of swoon I tell you.

In terms of story, 10 episodes is the perfect length, though I do wish the conflict came in 1 or 2 episodes earlier to flesh it out. But in true rom-com fashion, the conflict came and went in a gust of wind so if you don't want prolonged ansgst, you're in for a treat. I especially appreciate that the ex boyfriend is sorta redeemed in a deserved way which is a refreshing take on the quintessential cheater stereotype. And the final scene of the last episode captures the spirit of how this drama sees modern relationships in a post Me Too world.

Overall, I highly recommend this for a short, modern, swoon-fest.

Hypocrisy at its peak

I hate this propaganda series.
The premise says that ml and fl both had prejudice against the opposite sex. But it the fl's hypocrisy and hatred towards the opposite sex that is the main focus point of the show. So she fucked around 100+ guys for whatever reason. Apparently she picks out bad guys and sleeps with them then dumps them for revenge or something.. basically she is a sex addict and loves twisted guys. When reporters surrounded her and questioned her behaviour , guess what her answer was?.
Apparently, she was buying vegitables from the market.. she was trying the find the true one by sleeping with as much guys as possible.. wtf????.
The ml is simp. Typical trope " different from other girls" " ready to give up everything for a slut"

Look I am all for flawed main characters, but that flaw should be seen a flaw by the show and rectified by the end. here the supposed flaw is celebrated by cast.. they telling you that a sex addict independent woman is the definition of a modern woman..
How much brainwashing has been done to the society that this show is rated this high.
It is the funny the flag bearers of feminism are becoming what they supposedly hate the most- female version of a womanizing bad guy.. sad

Practically Perfect in Every Way

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS DRAMA.

FL and ML were perfect and so was the supporting cast!!. I haven't binged a show in a minute and this was worth me being tired tomorrow morning at work. I initially watched b/c of Kim Ji Hoon and he is outstanding here as Do Won but I fell in love with Yoo Teo, as Kang Ho. Have never seen him in anything else but he was so good and his smile is to die for!!

Mi Ran is hilarious and played brilliantly by Kim Ok Bin. I liked that she's tough and knows what she wants out of a relationship.

The best part of this romcom aside from the cast is that there are some genuinely, laugh out loud funny scenes in almost every episode. I loved that the ADULTS behaved like adults in a relationship and things were not awkward when they confessed to each other.

There were just so many things done right in this drama. Also, loved the fact that it's sweet, simple and 10 episodes.

Typical but Not Typical Rom Com

It was the typical girl meets boy, they can't stand each other in the beginning, boy has some sort of issues to work through, they are thrown together through an "arrangement," and end up falling in love.

It was not typical in the female lead's character. Strong, independent, a fighter, she doesn't just take on the role society has deemed she should have. Her character is what kept me going through the series. I loved Kim Ok Bin's Mi Ran!!! Feisty, stubborn, physically talented, a brain, witty, always there for the underdog. I loved this character. She wasn't unsure, lacking confidence, overly needy, or any of the other stereotypical female roles that you usually find in rom coms.

Also good in the series, the supporting characters, although I think their storylines could have been expanded. It was a really good, funny, feel-good, all-around enjoyable rom com, and I would highly recommend it. The actors all did well in their parts.

Hilarious and cute romance with amazing chemistry

I was hesitant to watch this as I didn't know any of the leads except Go won hee and i also don't watch mature rom- com, but then tried to watch this after reading all the reviews and I'm not regretting at all.
I was hooked from first, never felt bored.. completed in 1 day.
First time a mature rom-com I liked wholeheartedly,
from first to last it's truly enjoyable, it has everything, from action to romance to comedy, slow burn romance but the story is really fast paced as it only has 10 ep.😍♥️...
Everyone has amazing chemistry and they're so natural... everyone should give it a try. 9.5/10 from me, minus 0.5 for not having more episodes..

amazing drama

Really really loved this one. All major characters are likable, which is a big thing for me.
It's also has a very good pace in the story, it does not feel like nothing his happening, but neither are there to many things at once happening. There is a really good balance. The story itself is also pretty good. Not a big fan of the 'not-like-other-girls' kinda thing that is going on, but it's not too much of a hazard. Both main characters have bad opinions on the opposite sex and they both change the other within their meetinsg and relantionship.
Most definentely worth a watch.

Fun little enemies-to-lovers

This is how you do enemies-to-lovers properly and in an entertaining way. I enjoyed this drama a lot, it was fun and entertaining, swoonworthy and I really liked our main couple. They were so chaotic and fun to watch and their chemistry was GREAT. The second couple was a bit confusing and to be honest.... I truly think they broke up after the last episode, no way they lasted because the way they acted in the show?? no. I wouldn't want to put up with all that. Anyway, the music and story were really cool and fun, and I do see myself rewatching this for the main couple; their love felt passionate and sincere! <3

When watching K-drama I just have 2 demands-
Firstly the drama needs to have a story female lead
Secondly the acting and humor quotient.
And this drama stands out in both of them. Nothing is more exciting than to watch a drama with a female lead protecting the male lead. Macho female is the need of the hour and so glad the director understand that.
The story stands perfectly amusing without dragging it much with just 10 episodes. The chemistry is okish the romance is their but not the descendent of the sun kind. It was a decent watch.
Some characters of the drama were left midway- The niece her back story was needed.
Though I am glad they didn't marry at the end that would have made the whole plot flop.
You should watch this if you liked strong girl Do-Bong So.
