A refreshing love story

I nearly dropped this after watching the 1st episode halfway because it was off to a boring start, and I'm glad I continued it! The story is unique with a lot of good lines, and I learned a lot about love and life through this drama. This drama doesn't have the usual cliches I love how mature and level-headed the characters are. This is how people in relationships should be.

I love this realistic story with brilliant main character ?

This female actress who performs brilliantly in this drama often demonstrates extraordinary range and emotional depth. Her portrayal likely includes a nuanced understanding of her character's inner struggles and growth. Her ability to convey subtle emotions and deliver powerful moments with authenticity can deeply engage and move audiences. This level of skill not only highlights her talent but also elevates the entire production, leaving a lasting impact,,,, Actors who excel in drama often deliver performances that deeply resonate with audiences, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication. Their ability to bring complex characters to life with authenticity and nuance is truly admirable.

These actors invest significant effort into understanding their roles, immersing themselves in the emotional landscapes of their characters. They skillfully navigate the intricate interplay of emotion, motivation, and conflict, making their portrayals both compelling and believable. Scriptwriting at its best

The summary from Viki is not very accurate. The title could even make you think this is a contract relationship drama. This drama is really about mature, career-driven individuals trying to succeed in demanding jobs while keeping their values. The main couple is played by two amazing actors with great chemistry. What really sets this drama apart from others for me is the script. The characters deal with real world problems and have to decide what values they are going to stick to. There really are no evil characters. Everyone is trying to succeed at work and you get to see how that impacts others. There are similar issues in private life that are discussed. So much depth in the character growth from many of the characters! There is definitely romance and comedy, but this isn't really a romantic comedy. There is a lot of depth that for me makes this rise above all others I have watched this year. Don't miss out on this gem!

Love starts from friendship? or after friendship?!

Where should I begin, I first started this show and then put it on hold from episode 2, tbh most shows from this year I've been doing the same thing, there were just a few that catches my absolute attention. After a while I went back, and well this captured my absolute attention, and I just finished it, loved it and I have no regrets at all.

After finishing the show I realized that the story, set up, city life, romance and OST reminds me of a early 2000 classic American romance drama filmed in NYC or Manhattan, it has that type of vibe, it's so subtle, and simple yet interesting and entertaining. The casting was pretty perfect, the ML and FL did very well in their roles, and they had amazing chemistry together, and formed a nice MATURE relationship, with no nonsense.

One thing that kept me watching was the way how the main cast got together, it was interesting to wait and see and experience them being strangers, then friends, and then lovers etc. all while they go through the different stages of life with their respective careers. So if you want something mature, simple but entertaining, about life, career and love, no major drama, and a mature romance then this is for you, it left me feeling very complete, and it also leaves you with a nice subtle feeling.

hope you give this a try.

A good love story with less cliche shit

One of the most mature relationships I have seen in C dramas so far. Instead of dragging issues, misunderstandings and blaming each other for it they just sit down, talk about it and fix it . That is what a good healthy relationship is supposed to be and both the characters played their part quite nice.

FL wasn't some damsel in distress waiting for some prince charming but rather a strong independent woman who could deal with her problems be it professional or personal. ML turned from a guy who isn't fond of committing to a good doting boyfriend who only sees FL in this world. From being strangers to friends to teasing to a healthy relationship and finally the proposal it was really beautiful.

FL's sister Xinzi too went from being in a toxic relationship to a painful breakup to finding love again was actually a good relatable story that many girls go through. Instead of just continuing a relationship with a possessive and insecure boyfriend which could have gotten way worse with time, she ended it no matter how much it hurt as she knew it was for the better and thank god they didn't show the ex bf as some violent and parasitic guy who ends up kidnapping her (which usually happens in mostly C dramas) but rather a guy who knows he has problems and needs to deal with it.

Overall from start to end a nice show with less cliche shit

Amazing mature loveable short drama!!!

What a story! The director has really worked hard on the story, plot, dialogues, and—most importantly—the casting. Everything worked really well.

This drama has very high rewatch value. You feel so connected to the characters that you keep rewatching scenes on Instagram or YouTube.

An amazing drama overall. The only thing I didn’t like was the actress’s hairstyle—she is very beautiful without bangs. I love this drama so much. Loved both the actor and the actress.

Everyone deserves to meet a good partner in life, just like how these two characters met and built their love through destiny.

Please make more dramas like this.

Must Watch - Peaceful and Healing Drama

if you love both main characters who are mature and have wise life experience, peaceful drama that don't have any heavy conflict and smooth story line, slowburn romance, flirting with each other but can make you blush; you should watch this. Just my two cents suggestions, if you like this drama you should try fake it till you make it, run on (kdrama), dinner mate (kdrama). If you have any drama recommendations that have the same vibes as this drama, please tell me yea. ignore this because of the words minimum

A Refreshingly Nuanced Slow-Burn Gem

I'm not usually a fan of Chinese dramas—they often feel painfully slow-paced and drag on, leaving me bored halfway through. But Fake It Till You Make It flipped that script entirely. The deliberate slow pace here isn't a flaw; it's the drama's biggest charm. It simmers with tension and depth, drawing you in without a single dull moment. The story weaves a clever tale of ambition, pretense, and real growth in a cutthroat world, elevated by sharp directing that makes every frame count and standout acting that feels raw and lived-in.

While the mature romance at the center—built on mutual understanding and quiet intensity—is solid and heartfelt, it's not what hooked me most. For me, the true standout is the female characters, especially the female lead. At first, I was irritated by her reluctance to stand up for herself in the face of blatant unfairness; it felt frustratingly passive. But then it hit me—that's real life. Sometimes you have to bite your tongue, stay silent, and channel that energy elsewhere. She fights back in her own fierce way: by outworking everyone, proving her worth through sheer grit, and never letting bitterness win.

What elevates her even more is how the drama humanizes every woman around her. Those side characters who seem like gold-digging fakes or "not girls' girls" at first glance? They're all suffering in their own messy ways, shaped by circumstances we only understand through their perspectives. Our female lead doesn't clap back with drama; she kills them with kindness, drawing out their best selves or revealing the goodness that was always there beneath the surface. It's a refreshing take on female solidarity—no catfights, just complexity and quiet empowerment.

Be your own scriptwriter

It is like finding your first love in your thirties.

I think this line summarizes the series very well. Honestly, I first started the series dreading the pace and how it was going. I don’t really like corporate series, nor do I know much about the cast. I probably watched one series of Elvis but the storyline was confusing, so I didn’t get very far. I have never seen any FL work so I was not sure if I wanted to proceed. But I saw an edit and I knew these two had amazing chemistry, so I had to give it a try.

I’m glad I did. Like every good story, you just need to get over the introduction of the plot. It starts out with FL living in a competitive world for lawyers trying to make ends meet and later meeting ML. Their coincident meetings blossom into a friendship with FL confessing later to ML. What I love about this series is that it is a mature love with a lot of corporate work but very relatable. You get to see that love does happen even when you’re in your 30s. As I mentioned earlier, I had never seen any of FL but I adore her soft demeanor but strong justice character. She always fights for what she thinks is right. She plays her character just right so I might start watching more of her stuff.

The ending sums up pretty much the whole drama “The city is still bustling, and it won’t stop for anyone. Just like life. Recalling every person I met, who didn’t start with trying to get ahead? Between the gaps of pretense, giving oneself another shot of adrenaline. Boss. Subordinate. Rival. Friend. Trapping yourself in one role after another, saying what you should say and doing what you should do. And believing that this is our life. But they, as if they had agreed, when they have perfected their act, they see a layer of truth. Happiness, success, and joy can’t possibly be the result designed by the scriptwriter of life. It can only be your own tangible experience. I’ve met many people in this city and they eventually taught me that the world is big, too big to imagine. So walk your own path, not according to the written script. Throw away the script and struggle to find your own life. It’s okay to fail. It okay to take the wrong road. Live freely. Isn’t that the most stylish thing?”

I thought this was just a corporate love story, but as you watch the ending, it reflects back to each character she met and the growth or fall of each one. I can’t help but love how the series unfolds. The one thing I love about this series is that there weren’t a lot of episodes and that the pace of the story was just right. Live life how you want. Because at the end of the day, you are your own scriptwriter, and finding the true key to happiness, peace, and your needs is within yourself. You never know what will be thrown your way so cherish each moment.

I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a mature corporate love story. It has great chemistry between the leads, and you can’t help but fall in love with the female lead as you watch her grow. Knocking off one star because it was just slow at the beginning for me. But every great story is always slow, to begin with :D

Worth to watch

Suddenly found this gem when scrolling. First episode and I got hooked. Story were written well and I would say it is more to real life experience. As someone who has experience in working as a employee Yes, this drama got some fact like you gotta always or sometime bootlicking your boss, sometime your director or manager shove his/her work to you, sometime reality is different from your fantasy (e.g: you fantasy or dream to get good boss / good life balance but reality over 90 percent you will meet those boss that donot show sympathy, yeah you can hate them but it is reality), other thing that I really like is most people only watch your position, money, and value for them. Last word I think sometime the thing you love to do may not be the most suitable for you if you want to survive and take care of yourself I mean like take some vitamin, jogging, and donot get yourself sick cause I also have experience it and it doesn't feel good.

Really recommend this drama for those who love slow burn romance, a little bit toward real life, working related, slice of life (day to day as worker).

Kinda overrated. Underwhelming.

This drama was hyped so much in the media in my country that I thought we had an amazing masterpiece on our hands. But alas, it fell very very short. Contrary to many here, I'm not interested in romance dramas - I find them unrealistic, tropey and not a least bit romantic. The workplace bit here was interesting, but then again it just smeared the surface. Overall, there wasn't alot of depth all round.

What worked:
- The workplace bits. I actually really liked the FL's trudge through her toxic workplace and how she sorta "navigated" it, it just resonates on so many levels personally. I liked that she didn't like her situation but she didn't give up either, and was a very hard worker.
- The FL herself. The most interesting character in the drama. She was slightly more fleshed out than the rest, and I liked that she wasn't this immature, cutesy, girly sweet and defiant character. She had her own principles and followed them but wasn't stuck-in-the-mud stubborn. She's rather quirky and doesn't fall for men too easily.
- Some of the dialogue. Pretty quote worthy, I remembered noting down quite a few gems.

What didn't work:
- Very thin plot with useless filler characters and scenes. Nothing much actually really happens if you think about it. random characters introduced which you barely see, and why is there so much focus on the annoying FL's cousin? i dont give a shit about her love life! go away! just so much time taken up by all these people.
- The romance wasn't romantic. At all. It was 2 adults with their own baggage who didn't quite want to own up to it and be honest with their feelings. The usual miscomm ensues. This trope has been done to death. Also as both characters weren't very fleshed out I was wondering what they actually really liked about one another. Chemistry was so so, nothing sizzling or amazing. Also i didnt tink the ML was a good match for the FL.
- ML , i dont know if it was the writing or the actor's acting, but i couldn't vibe with him at all. i wasn't interested in his world at at all, neither was i interested in his workplace scenes, i ff-ed all of them. I also couldn't tell - was he genuinely a player or just someone playing at being a player? He was so wishy washy and noncommittal and gave off alot of emotional unavailable red flags but then you wouldn't really see him "go all out" being a player. So I didn't get it, please decide ML! And while I found elvis han attractive at the beginning, oddly the attraction just waned and died over the episodes, and have developed an aversion to him oops.

Overall just not a very impressive drama, though I found some of the FL's scenes in the earlier episodes rather comforting and rewatchable.
