We are…
… definitely not telling a gripping story. Really the storyline could be summarized in one sentence. But „We are“ was a super satisfying watch that felt like sipping a sweet green Thai iced tea. Was it complex, hell no, did it make me smile all the time, hell yes!So if you are looking for something stressfree, dramafree (because we cannot call that one problem dramatic) and comforting go watch it

Bland, bloated, boring
One of the worst BL’s I’ve seen, “We Are” has enough story for about 4 episodes of an average BL, which got stretched and diluted to ridiculous 16 episodes, with hardly any plot and almost no substance. There’s an obscene number of filler scenes with characters – usually in a big group – gathering to do something, going somewhere, standing and waiting for something, taking a group picture or participating in what (each and every time) seems like a poorly improvised party, fake and lifeless. Development and story progression are utterly absent, with the in-show flow of time indicated mostly by exposition. I suppose that lack of progress gets reflected, in an ironic way, in the series’ title – “We Are” refers perfectly to this weirdly static show.As if that wasn’t bad enough, the show has a throng of one-dimensional characters that are dull, annoying, unlikeable, uninteresting or forgettable and unimportant. It’s baffling that with 4 couples and additional supporting cast there are no stakes, no emotion nor any tension between characters. Some of that results from poor script, but mostly it’s because of bad or lackluster performances and absence of any chemistry between the main cast.
Pond and Phuwin, as usual, fail to deliver anything remotely interesting together; during all 16 episodes I laughed exactly twice – both times because of something unexpected Phuwin did – that (and his stunning looks) is his contribution to the show. At least this time he didn’t portray an obnoxious character. Pond on his own seemed less wooden than normally in a BL – and that’s the best thing I can say about his performance.
Aou, whom I’ve seen giving one decent performance (in “Be My Favorite”), tries to be funny, but all he does it being irritating; Boom is simply there, doing less than a guest appearance would. Similarly, Marc and Poon could have been replaced with two human-sized cardboard cutouts and I wouldn’t see any difference.
I left the worst for last: Winny and Satang, by far the strongest cast members, don’t do anything to elevate the show; I even felt they dragged it down. Satang’s Toey is self-centered, infantile and painful to watch, while Winny’s Q comes across as unlikeable. I watched “We Are” mainly to see what WinnySatang can do when upgraded to main couple status (or almost-main couple, as PondPhuwin were the actual and only main couple) and I was disappointed with the outcome.
The BTS footage, shown during end credits of the last episode, was more interesting to watch than everything that preceded it in ep. 1-16.

it's about the characters not the plot
i started this drama with no expectations however, i found it very entertaining and even though the storyline was simple, what made me fall in love with this show was the interactions between the characters. Every single episode made me smile and laugh and i loved seeing how much the characters genuinely cared for their friends and lovers. Was this review helpful to you?
Cutest slice-of-life I’ve ever watched
I had a really great time watching this series. I will probably watch it again just for the happy feelings it gave me during my first viewing. The premise isn't anything new; we follow four couples over 16 long episodes as they navigate the challenges of university and first loves. While the pace is slow, cheesy, and somewhat plotless, it is incredibly easy to watch and truly adorable.
The best aspect of this drama, by far, was the depiction of friendship. The couples have their cute moments, but it was the group's antics that brought me the most joy.
Overall, this was a fun experience. It drags and it might seem boring at times, but if you’re happy to stay here for the vibes (and not for the romance) then you will likely enjoy it!

A comfort series I keep going back to — and AouBoom need their own show immediately!
I've rewatched parts of this multiple times already and I'll probably do it again. That alone tells you most of what you need to know about how I feel about it.What genuinely moved me about this series beyond the couples is what sits at its center: healthy male friendships, the kind that are affectionate and present and unashamed, and the idea that friendship itself is worth celebrating as the foundation of everything else. That's not something BL series always remember to do, and I found it quietly powerful here.
Yes, it's a little ridiculous that essentially everyone ends up with someone. I made my peace with that early and simply followed PondPhuwin and AouBoom, which was more than enough.
PondPhuwin's physical chemistry felt more natural to me here than in Never Let Me Go — something about Pond being allowed to be a little bolder, a little less passive, seemed to free up the dynamic between them in a way that worked. That's a personal read, but it's a consistent one across rewatches.
And then there's AouBoom. Aou's character is a lot — genuinely, unapologetically a lot — but sometimes full-volume cheesiness is exactly the right energy, and Boom matches it perfectly. They secured a permanent place in my BL heart here and I will stand by that. They need their own series. Someone make it happen.

We Aren't
Overall, this is not a good series. It is simply too long. It droned on and on for no reason with the same old storylines. This story is cute. Certainly not deep. Entertaining for sure. Fluffy and sweet. Predicable and boring a lot of the time. There are way too many pairings of relationships and way too much idealism shown. What it did do right and what it should have concentrated on was the camaraderie of the group of friends. It is rare to have such a solid group of friends who know they are in the last throws of all of them being together before life has other plans for them. It could have been a much better story if it reflected more on the dynamics of friendships among friends. That would have been a good story instead of the contrived ‘love pairings’ that they thought we needed to see. There was a lot of great screen chemistry between the actors. You can read my full review at BLBliss.com.

i never expected to say something like this but i found it boring
I was very excited about seeing pondphuwin back on a series but this is a bummer, the story is extremely bland, tasteless. it's not completely bad as we have some tender moments in the secondary couple, but aside of that I had to admit i had to drop it. I hope to see Pond and Phuwin getting better series just like they had with never let me go or fish upon the sky which were interesting, the story was well planned and the characters had an excelent chemestry. don't forget this is just my personal opinion and i'm not intending to discourage anybody from watching the series because at the end, the judge, it's you.Was this review helpful to you?
A Drama with No plot but full of Cheese and Fanservice
Subjective Gut Rating: 7.25I decided to watch “We Are” because I wanted something simple and light-hearted, a stress reliever. With that in mind, I made the right choice. “We Are” is so easy, and too easy of a watch. It’s a drama full of fluff, cheese and cringe.
Unfortunately, the drama does not hold my attention. “We Are” has no plot whatsoever. The whole drama is about a big group of friends hanging out, pairing up with each romantic partner, professing their love and kissing their loved ones. While I enjoy seeing the tight bond of these friends, especially the 5-some of Peem, Q, Tan, Pun and Chain, I cannot consume 16 hours of just hanging out. The drama is way too long for its lack of content. It ended up not really what I am looking for, but this might just be the right one for you.
The acting of the cast is OK. There really isn’t anyone who stood out as being excellent. The big selling point of this drama is Pond and Phuwin as the two main leads. I enjoy their chemistry and their scenes together. They are obviously comfortable around each other. Pond and his handsome face and loving gazes are what keep me going and not dropping it.
I also feel that the introduction of such a big cast at once causes some confusion. I was trying to figure out the first 5 and then the drama introduced another 6 guys to the mix. Aside from the main romance between Peem and Phum, I really didn’t care for the other pairings. Some characters are more annoying and cringey than others. The drama has many unnaturally long gazes and slow motion shots for every single supposedly romantic gesture or kiss. It’s somewhat trying to manipulate how the audience should feel.
“We Are” is a pure fanservice drama. I don’t think I’ve seen a drama with so many kisses from all romantic pairs, and so many “I love you” spoken. The kisses on the lips are actually not bad, much better than the pecks on the cheeks or forehead (don’t they know you should also extend your lips a little?). I would recommend this drama if you are a fan of the cast.

I didn’t expect to love it so much, mostly because I didn’t have any expectations going in.
Debating if I should give it 9 stars or 8,5!To be honest. I wanted to give a 8,5. But the story was evolving a little too slowly for my liking but they were so cute to have my heart melted.
It was a cute, easy and fluffy. I have to admit there was times I was giggling, all red, swinging my feet stupidly while watching. The only flaw (a personal flaw) was that the events happening slowly and yet it didn't stop me from enjoying this series.
I still cannot not talk about Phum - Peem's chemistry, because it was so beautifully captured that I felt their connection - their love. What starts off as a casual attraction slowly builds up into something so much more meaningful and desirable to both of them, in ways they could never have anticipated.
Q - Toey
Their banter was fresh and amusing and dare I say it, charming - their tender scenes just as emotional. It was almost poetic the way the Director wrote out their feelings and thoughts.
Tan - Khaofang
The way they comforted each other when they needed it so desperately, that fierce expressive and sticky they felt about one another, the cheerful way in which they acted upon their desire and want for each other - I ate those moments up.
Chain - Pun
Whether you'll love him or hate him, Chain was definitely my favorite. That cold yet assessing and loving demeanor suited my heart so well. Pun - my precious boy - let me protect you forever.
Romance aside, I loved this bl drama for the friendships and the vibes.
It may have not been quite what I was expecting, but what it delivered was more than enough to not only appease me, but make me eager for more.

A Heartwarming BL Series with Minimal to No Red Flags
This is one of the best portrayals of friendship in BL history. The support each character gives to one another is truly heartwarming, and the way they care for and help each other is beautiful. The red flags are minimal perhaps the smallest I've ever seen. Typically, BL series feature at least one major red flag, but in this series, I can't find any.
The story of a few couples might not be the best developed, but I can't say that it made anything worse. But all couples faced unique challenges in their relationships and overcame themin a good way.
Some series overdo the comedy, but this one was pretty balanced between serious, heartwarming, funny, and blatantly silly moments.
Overall, I consider this one of the better series of the year. It's lighthearted, fun, and heartwarming, without being over the top in any aspect.

The fan-service BL which is overrated and nothing actually happen
Some of you think it's a healing BL,some also find a bit boring...but how can it be enjoyable when the whole storyline is dragging, embarrassing and above all, super weird???These are the weirdness I found while watching the whole damn 16 eps.-NO PLOT,RANDOMLY FLIRTING AND THEN LOVE
I didn't see the RIVALS TO LOVERS between Phum and Peem as some of you talked about. They're forced to met each other eventually, flirting and kissing since episode 5 and still haven't think about anything more than friends until ep 10+....Same with the other couples, their love is too obvious,no process and the whole flirting thing is nothing but embarrassing. They've kissed and flirted so much but I just didn't feel anything romantic and funny here.
-HANGING AROUND,ACTING CHILDISH AND PARTYING ALL DAY
They're at university already but playing and acting like kindergarteners especially Toey...The university setting make no sense,as there is nothing about their studying life, even 1st grade students learn more than them...I wish I could have a comfortable life like them🤣Easily graduate just by talking nonsense all day and hanging around that much????
-POOR WRITING,EDITING AND REPETITIVE MUSIC
There is no character development in the series, the director have nothing to do but make their speech dragging and slow to make it 1hour/episode...Nothing bad happen to the leads childish friendship and love, they're just exaggerated small problems and solve it within an episode. The osts are randomly turn on out of nowhere which make their romance scenes more strange to watch, the directors and editors probably didn't even think if the music suit that scene or not,I'm struggling to finished the series for this as one of the reason.
I feel that the characters all have gone insane to be that childish and there is no sense in making the series 16 eps long when there is no development.I'm PPW fan and I've watched all of their BLs and non-BLs.I don't blame the casts for the project,I just feel disappointed that their acting potential and chemistry are wasted for this.People who loved and said the series is good probably just because of the cast and their previous series...Overall,there is nothing good about the romance in this series, just fan-service things....as the casts already have strong fanbase to enjoy this nonsense plot😔😩

What's the point?
I'm not going to say it's a bad series, I'm just going to say it doesn't interest me. Student love stories we've seen 1,000 times before, often done better. There's absolutely no story. The slave thing doesn't hold up for 5 minutes, and it's quickly forgotten. The secondary couples are a real pain to watch. The couples could be formed quickly, but the characters take their time excessively, because they have to last 16 episodes. If the script has reached this point, it's because there isn't one!
