Another Case of “What Did I Just Watch?”
I should have wrote this earlier, so I may have some lapses in my memory of the show.I watched this for Li Ge Yang. I have a weird soft spot for him. I admit he’s probably not the best actor but there’s just something about him that makes me want to root for him and get more ML roles (see him as SML too often). When he is ML, it can sometimes be hit or miss. This time, I think he (and the FL) were unfortunate victims of a crazy script.
You know that they are starting off in the modern world before “transmigrating” into virtual world via her novel’s interactive premise, so that’s of course set up for how they “return” back to the real world. The virtual world is actually quite interesting in Jiu You (Nine Underworlds) since they dress in ancient costume most of the time but have access to modern luxuries like electricity and regular beds, haha.
I actually really liked their chemistry before the official confession. Even though I know it’s frowned to be intimate (kissing) before the confession, I liked the stolen/forbidden ones they had. After the confession though, things started to go downhill and the story turned into a huge mess in the second half. I was really confused by who’s who and what’s going on, and then they “return” to modern world.
It’s fine to watch if you can suspend belief and just enjoy nice sweet romance (which definitely gives this show plus), but don’t watch for the plot because it’s all over the place. I won’t be rewatching.
