Kaori incurs criticism by saying in front of Mirai's mother and teachers that "there is no need to force her to come to school." Kaori then talks with Mirai, but it seems that Mirai still has no intention of coming to school. The next day, debt collectors come to Daichi's house again. Worried about Daichi, Kaori lets him stay with her at the boarding house, which is owned by Hana's family. That night, Daichi has dinner with Hana and Kaori, but he remembers his missing mother and begins to tear up. Hana tries to cheer him up. The day after that, Hana had caught a cold and was sleeping in the nurse's office, but Kikue came and told her off, accusing her of slacking off and forcing her to clean up by herself. Daichi was furious when he saw Hana suffering from a fever, and he lashed out at Kikue, saying, "You can't make a sick person clean up!" Both Hana and Kaori were shocked by Daichi's angry look.
