Junichi's shoplifting seems to be caused by the stress of studying for exams. Afterwards, Kaori and her students call Junichi's mother, Seiko, to discuss the matter, but Seiko seems to think that shoplifting is no big deal, which leaves Kaori dumbfounded. Junichi's irritability does not subside after that, and he becomes violent in the classroom, worrying Kaori. Kaori persuades Seiko not to push Junichi any further into a corner with studying for exams. Meanwhile, Daichi decided not to go to Shizuoka with his father and instead go to school from his aunt's house. Principal Ishino is worried about his relationships with parents and his own management skills as an educator, and is tempted by an invitation to join the Board of Education. On the other hand, Koichiro becomes anxious that Kaori and Kitamura might end up getting married, so he takes the plunge and proposes to Kaori.
