Watch this when you need to be healed.

Just a perfect drama. Watching this feels like a warm hug at the end of a long day.

While so many BLs have toxic characters, miscommunication built in as a plot point, and tropes stuffed in to the gills, Our Dining Table comes in quietly and softly. The characters are so realistic without being awkward or forced. The dialogue and interactions are never overly dramatic for the sake of it. This is as much a love story as it is a story about friendship and family, and finding "your place" in the world.

I could pull this apart with all of the things that make it so good, but it needs to be experienced!

I think everyone should watch this drama at least once, it is setting a new standard of the shorter episode BLs for me and will absolutely be rewatched as a comfort show. This was a healing experience!

I kinda shock when this series came out. I just finished the manga night before, then suddenly the live action out already. Like im not even complaining because inukai in here. He was everywhere in jbl that year. At first im not sure how this serie turns out, because of tane is really the cutest character alive, but the child actor really did the best apart for through the series, and im glad they dont change most of the actual plot of manga. Except when hteir first kiss, it actually happen on the lips but it more refreshing and make sense when minoru did it on the cheek. Like they barely even make skinship, so that must be weird when you doing at the lips. As for tane i hope you doing gret boy, because your yukata is actually minoru's. hahahaha...

The Quiet Power of Found Family

“Our Dining Table” is a masterclass in the “healing” genre, proving that the most profound stories often happen in the smallest spaces—around a kitchen table. It is a beautiful, understated exploration of how found family can mend the fractures left by biological ones.

The world of “Our Dining Table” feels authentic and lived-in. The cramped kitchen, the simple act of grocery shopping, and the steam rising from a clay pot of rice all contribute to an atmosphere of genuine domesticity. These aren't merely actors on a set; these are three serious characters navigating the quiet complexities of grief, loneliness, and the fear of being seen.

Yutaka (Inukai Atsuhiro) is a deeply sympathetic lead. His struggle with "food trauma"—the inability to eat in front of others—is handled with incredible sensitivity. It isn't used as a fleeting trope but as a core part of his character that requires patience and trust to overcome.

Minoru (Iijima Hiroki) is the perfect anchor—a young man weighed down by his own responsibilities but who finds room in his heart for a stranger. His chemistry with Yutaka isn't based on "back-and-forth" games, but on a slow, steady building of mutual respect.

Tane (Maeyama Kuuga). Often, child actors can feel like "cute scenery," but Tane is a delightful exception. He is the catalyst of the story, bringing a chaotic, joyful energy that forces Yutaka out of his shell. He is a fully realized character whose presence feels essential, not decorative.

“Our Dining Table” avoids loud drama and instead focuses on the transformative power of a shared meal. It is a slow, sincere, and deeply moving reminder that we all deserve a place at the table.

WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE ABOUT LOVE!

At first blush, looking at the title, I almost passed, thinking it was just another cooking themed story. I couldn't have been more worng and I'm glad I didn't pass this gem up. Such a heatwarming drama. Warms a cold heart. Emotionall touching, wonderfully filmed and acted and just an all around must view if you're into character evolution and metamorphosis. One of the best, warmest, and spiritully lifting "works of fiction" I have seen. Just what the doctor ordered! The musical score was perfect. The cinematography was exceptional, and both the main actors and support cast was very welcome in my heart. This one will stay with me for a while and I know I'll rewatch many times.

GEM

I think this is one of the best adaptations of BL Manga. The story is wholesome, and you'll feel the cuteness and lovely vibe of the series, just like the Manga. Kudos to the director and actors—especially the kid (Tane-san)—for bringing such warmth and authenticity to their roles. Also, the visuals of them are appealing; the emotional depth and charm are truly captivating, making it a memorable experience for fans and newcomers alike. A perfect blend of heart and artistry. Highly recommended!

A sweet slice-of-life about found family

What can I say about this drama? It was incredible! It made me smile, cry, and even feel hungry at times. This is a beautiful show about companionship, love and sacrifice.

There was so much I enjoyed about this drama: the acting, the plot, the pacing, and the relationship between Yutaka and the Ueda family. The romance and the found-family vibes throughout the series were so heartwarming I felt like I was exploding from the inside out.

Honestly? If I had to choose a drama to be my ultimate comfort show – something I could watch on rainy blue days – it would definitely be Our Dining Table.

Most wholesome bl I've ever seen!!!

Everything in it was really cute and so wholesome that it melts my heart to this day. The drama is really light and the plot is so easy to follow through. Really love this short ass drama. Indeed a slow placed drama that gently takes and tells the viewer where the story flows.

Plot: I can safely say, this was easy to understand not complicated and pretty unique. The sense of belongingness that Yutaka craves was found at this small family of Minoru. It didn't felt so stretched. I was satisfied how neatly written and laid out the plot was. It didn't make me think, they could have just jammed it all in in just few episodes. I know there's not much anything going on the two leads for the most eps til we reach eps 8-10.5 but that didn't felt dragged in a sense that I expect them to fall in love in the first few eps. I didn't think that's something I should expect. I just immersed myself to the cuteness and gentleness of this series. It's basically just that moment where Yutaka shared his food with the kid then got invited by Minoru in their house. I get the feeling of loneliness of Yutaka longing to be belonged and that just stroke a chord with me. That gap really felt real to me. One might say this is their comfort series and I won't really blame them.

Cast & Acting: The cast was also something I should praise them. Although it's not a groundbreaking cast or impactful acting performance but they really did well setting the tone of the series. Not too much dramatized scenes. The acting felt casual or natural. The kid really sold me. He's so cute and adorable and really acted naturally. He's one that made the series cute. The two leads have chemistry with each other and how they interact with each other felt clean. There's no disconnection I felt as a viewer toward their chemistry. Inukai (Yutaka) really showed his emotion (that scene where he was teary-eyed talking to Minoru's father) when needed. Sometimes I felt portrayal of Minoru is giving Sarawat vibes. How stoic he was every EP but not necessarily a problem for me to pinpoint. The kiss ain't really felt awkward either. The dad of Minoru and the kid is just light-hearted and we love it! The exchange in dialogues not felt off. The brother of Yutaka's foster family is bland and more stoic than Minoru. He's the only the least liked character of mine. Just hating on Yutaka but I just love that in the end he really meant well and took care of Yutaka when he was sick. The other cast are fine. Not much problem here. All did well I guess.

OST: Good not much to say.

Overall opinion:
This was really good especially if u want something easy to follow plot, good cast and not complicated in any aspect of bl. I didn't see much cliche here or BL trope we used to encounter in BLs out there. Overall this was a wholesome watch and who knows I might watch it again whenever I miss it. Definitely a great series to pass the time and probably the best Japan BL I've seen in years!!

FOOD AND COMPANY

everyone needs someone they can have a comforting lunch with, but when your whole life you have the degradation about your eating habits you just drift yourself away from society no one sees u eat.

that's what happen when yutaka was eating his lunch quietly on the bench when tane approached him and shared the rice ball with each other... monoru(tane elder brother) who had been quiet and siffering after his mom's death, lit up with yutaka in his life too.

they established a comandarineship, eating together, creating memories and laughter together.

It is lighthearted at best and can be a mood lifter on hard days...

It's so slow burn

I know J bls are meant to be slow burn romance and all but maybe it's just me because this was a bit boring. I literally forced myself to finish it because I didn't want to drop it. I felt so pissed at some point because they were literally so awkward and at some point their actions were too exaggerated. I also felt a bit confused about the younger brother who could also be annoying at times. this is my personal opinion but in all I would never watch something like this again. I could barely even feel the so called 'love' between them if not that they kissed once I wouldn't have regarded this as a bl.

Feeds the heart....literally!

When I first heard that this was going to be adapted, I was soo impatient and ready for it. After the wait, it's finally here! I absolutely loved the manga and I was sad because it's a short stand alone one volume story and I wanted to stay with the characters longer. I get the chance to do that with this live action! So far with 3 episodes out, it appears that Yutaka's backstory is a bit different from the manga based on the flashback scenes we saw. It seems like with the drama they are going to flesh out the backstory way more, which makes sense because of how short the manga was. Im curious to see how it all turns out. The drama gives you warmth with a lot of love and happiness and that feeling is just how I felt when I read it (definitely need to reread at some point). To me, that's all that matters is that feeling and it's faithful in that way. You'll find yourself smiling and clutching your heart while watching this!

Acolhimento e pertencimento...
