if you're looking for a dark drama with A LOT of twists this is the drama for you
if you're tired of happy dramas and whatever and want a deep one i highly suggest this onealthough i really didn't like some of the scenes at the start and i'm sure it made some people drop this, but those who didn't are in a treat. there are 3 main characters and the drama cycles through in such a unique way that make every episode diffirent from the other, i didn't like it at first but now that i think about it's very creative
the story is deeeeep and has a lot of dark twists, this ain't for softies out there sorry
imo it progressively gets better and better and the ending is just epic, not gonna spoil it but it's very much worth the watch
i found the story VERY unique and it got me wanting to see the next episodes every time,it has a strong mystery vibe for it and plot twists
overall a very good drama apart some off putting scenes at the start, the end is what really made me write this review tho
it's just so good !

Definitely a well-built revenge story that never feels pointless or stupid as it often happens with other dramas inside this subgenre.
The casting was on point. A group of amazing actresses that were able to handle this story without the big presence of a male star, still quite rare in the drama world.
Definitely would recommend to people that aren't used to watching Asian TV / people looking for a drama that feels like something you'd watch on American TV.
9/10.

A Bold, Dark, and Unforgettable K-Drama
Mask Girl is a dark, daring drama that peels back the layers of society’s obsession with beauty, fame, and shame. The use of multiple actresses to portray Mo Mi at different stages of her life is bold but effective, showing how trauma reshapes identity. Performances are outstanding, especially Nana who makes Mo Mi feel heartbreakingly real. It’s not an easy watch—bleak, violent, and unsettling—but it’s one of the rare K-dramas that lingers long after the credits roll. Was this review helpful to you?

now that was a lot. certainly mask girl aint for the ones with a weak heart.the story starts with kim mo-mi who is a normal office worker who deems herself ugly and thus colouldnt become an idol as per her dream. currently she streams on online sites while wearing a mask so that she can fulfill her dream while not revealing her face. this quickly becomes controversial as she is often seen to be narcissistic and over-flirteous on camera and even did a nude show based on her personal emotions. this started all the problems. one by one she was met by problrm after problem unless it turned into a series of murders and the only life mo-mi was living was that of a fleeing murderer. soon enough she gets caught and then starts the story of her daughter mi-mo which is just as twisted.
the ending wasnt up to my satisfaction. it felt quite sudden and emotionless but the plot was just awesome and one of a kind. as much as i love korea being more open to thrillers nowadays its very concerning how everything is thriller nowadays. (not saying i dont enjoy them tho)
nevertheless me likey

if you have time to watch better watch other drama
I've never felt so upset after watching a drama. I watched this drama because an account cut a scene on tiktok, where the unattractive female lead was shown with her double life. I was expecting 200 Pounds of Beauty drama like, then I saw the first m**der scene and I was confused, I kept going and finished it in one go, because it's only 7 eps. and as the episode end, I was super confused as to what is the goal of this drama, what actually they want to achieve? what a waste of time. and the 3 actors for 1 lead was unnecessary imo.Was this review helpful to you?
Perverse and aimless felt like, ended up dropping it.
This drama was recommended by a YTber that I love watching so I came in with pretty high expectations and decided to watch it with my mother who I've gotten into Asian dramas because she loves the fact that its more sweet and less sexual....this was not the drama to watch. I'll let you guys know right now that I dropped it after episode 3 or 4, it was just dragging on.Story: I am not sure what the plot was meant to be, at first it feels like they are going to teach us about beauty standards in society, with our first MC feeling bad about her appearance since she was deemed 'Ugly' by her mother and society, yet at night time when she puts on a mask and dances for a bunch of men online, she's treated like a goddess and gets the praise she deserves. The whole 'Beautiful' vs 'Ugly' thing made me feel rather uncomfortable and one of the reasons I dropped this show since it kept showcasing the 'Ugly' people as bad, perverts and so on. This is something I've noticed with a lot of Netflix Original, it feels like they throw it more s3x scenes and dark themes to try and bring Asian drama fans over.
Acting: The only good thing about this show was the acting, I only made it to episode 3 or 4 before dropping it, but the acting was topnotch. I am personally not happy that they showcased so much s3x scenes, m@sturb@tion scenes and overall it felt too perverse without it adding to the story in my opinion. Its why my mother and I dropped it. She turned to me and said ".....What is this show you are showing me? Why is this so perverse?I don't see what it's adding to the story."
Music: It had some good songs but nothing memorable.
Overall: If you are into plotless, shallow, perverse shows who's message seems to be "If you are pretty you can get away with things! And if you aren't pretty, get plastic surgery to fit in!" Then this is the perfect show for you. Just be warn that there is R@pe, lots of sex & m@sterbation, lots of trauma and not a lot of light at the end of the tunnel.

Enjoyed very much
Usually don't watch K-dramas but this out of the several that I've watched, was really good.Story: plot was a bit confusing but the more you watch it, the more you would understand it but overall it had a great storyline
Acting/Cast: everyone's acting was really good and natural
Music: I don't remember it having music as like the intro/outro but the songs that the female lead was singing in the show was good
Rewatch Value: definitely will rewatch it sometime in the future when I can't find any other dramas to watch

Trending the wrong way
I watch Kdramas because they aren't as gritty or raw as what tends to be popular in the USA. Not so with Mask Girl. I binged it on turbo with lots of 10 seconds ahead clicking. I finished it but have a sour taste in my mouth. Same reason I haven't watched beyond Season 1 of the Squid Game. If I want the sleaze, gore, excess profanity, etc etc I'll just watch what Hollywood grinds out. Actually, I won't. I'll pass on all of its ilk.Was this review helpful to you?

from the author of Momfluencer
I knew what to expect because Momfluencer (on webtoon.com) went off rails from the expected route pretty early on. It is somewhat the same story. Mask Girl is also originally a comics. if the tv show has strange plot compared to genre for dorama, they tend to have comics/webtoons as origin.Acting of main leads is phenomenal, they should get some award, there's not enough raw female villains ilke that. had no idea the "grandma" looks so good irl.
opening is awesome, both visually and the audio score.
Oveall, dynamic and not dragged as doramas love to go. Even though the Momfluencer is a bit too similar plot wise, i hope it also gets adapted. The similaries are basically mothers ruining their kids' lives and unraveling/learning some remorse. Didn't read Mask Girl, but in Momfluencer most of the characters are comepletely nuts, except kids. Here they have some room for compassion lol
in terms of grandma, she felt guilt as we see in the taxi dream, her whole act is denial about her own part in who she raised. she isn't a doting mother, it's a scapegoat crusade under religious excuse.

Not what I expected
After watching the trailer and hearing the reviews I was so excited to watch this, it was not what the trailer showed. It was extremely graphic, too many sexual scenes that were uncomfortable to watch and even after watching 2 episodes it felt like it had no real story.
At first it seemed like it had a good premise but it went a totally different route and the mc’s actions were just strange to me.
I couldn’t find one likeable character or one character that I could understand, it was overall a series that was 100% NOT for me.
I’m definitely not finishing this one.

Chocante

Gostei bastante. Recomendo!
