Very insightful take on the lives of people taken over by their work.

I didnt have any expectation at first. I just thought at first oh! The male lead is very cute.

But i like the pacing of the drama. I like the sub stories. The location where they shot this drama is very beautiful. I put Dali or Hunan (im not sure) on my travel list.

My only complaints is.. Its filled with chinese government propaganda. Which i somehow undertand since its a chinese series.

If you can overlook this then its a great show.

Um drama que traz conforto.

Eu sabia que quando assistisse a esse drama ia se tornar marcante para mim.
Particularmente a vila me lembra o lugar que a minha irmã mais velha vive, uma cidadezinha do interior Paulista(na Serra da Mantiqueira, no Brasil) em que a principal renda é o turismo e por isso o drama é muito próximo da realidade em que já vivi passando as férias por lá hahah por mais que sejam países diferentes e que estejam a milhas de distância, a vida mais leve no interior, o compartilhamento de alimentos entre amigos e vizinhos, a fofoca entre moradores, ir acampar e observar as estrelas, são coisas que em qualquer lugar do mundo são comuns.
A história do drama é um primor, tão bonito, aconchegante e bem escrito. A naturalidade que as relações dos personagens foram construídas foi o ponto alto do drama. ♡
Queria destacar que a trilha sonora, a fotografia e os cenários são perfeitos.

A gorgeous slice of Chinese village life.

This drama showcases Yunnan Province so beautifully that, at times, it feels almost like a travel and tourism promotion for the region. Nevertheless, it is a lovely slice-of-life drama, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it.

The story follows the female lead, who leaves Beijing and moves to a village in Yunnan to decompress and come to terms with a tragic loss. Her healing journey becomes the heart of the drama. Along the way, she meets the people of the village, who gradually become her family, and through them we are introduced to the wonderful sense of community that defines the place.

Each of the villagers has a story of their own, with personal struggles, aspirations and journeys that the drama takes the time to explore. Their stories are woven naturally into the main narrative, making the drama engaging, comforting and genuinely heartwarming.

During her time in the village, the female lead falls in love with the village heartthrob and unofficial headman, who himself had left the city to pursue a quieter life in the countryside and dedicate himself to revitalising his hometown. Their relationship is a particularly enjoyable part of the story. It is a slow-burn, mature romance that develops naturally rather than being driven by unnecessary drama.

At its best, their relationship is about two people who understand and support one another, becoming each other's "rain" and "wind" through the difficult and beautiful seasons of their lives.

What I took off points for, is the drawn-out nature of the village politics which was feeling repetitive; and I felt that despite all the build up and expositions of certain story lines they ultimately amounted to very little.

Ultimately, the drama is as much about healing, community and finding a sense of belonging as it is about romance. And perhaps that is what makes it so enjoyable: it leaves you with the feeling that sometimes, what we need to rebuild ourselves is not necessarily a grand new life, but simply the right place and the right people.

The music is catchy especially the song called Days.

Must watch drama

Meet yourself is one my favourite dramas.The story and pacing is good.All characters are very lovable.There are no misunderstandings and confusion.It really is realistic and heart warming drama.

At first I thought how I gonna finish 40 episodes (Max no episodes i usually watch is 24) but when I completed each episode I wanted more and more.I felt sad that episodes are running over and wished there should be another 40 episodes.

It is a must watch drama.for every episode I felt like Iam living in the drama.The chemistry between leads is realistic and lovable.Each character has its uniqueness.Its a wonderful and must watch drama.I hope you will feel the drama as I felt.

Good general drama

The overall high level story from start to finish is very engaging. Just about anyone from any country can relate to the day in and day out highs and lows that is portrayed in this drama. But as with anything now in 2023 you can see many subtle undercurrents about things in general. Some of the other reviews made comments about this being a China promotional drama to draw tourists back to China. Not sure how accurate that really is but from a drama story stand point it truly stands out because it actually feels like a story about every day people meeting, becoming friends and helping each other while also trying to find their way without the current stress that society has pressured people into believing they have to do certain things in order to consider yourself successful.

There are truly many very heart felt natural moments through out the episodes and all of the actors and characters have meaningful parts thru out. While you can say there's a FL and ML to the drama this has to be one of the few dramas where many characters had pretty good supporting side stories to the main story. The main story and side stories were all very well entwined with each other kudos for pulling that off since that's usually very rare to have happen in most dramas.

The OST was very nice and mellow but towards the end it got repetitive but still nice.

Totally amazing that I actually watched a cdrama that didn't have someone either stealing, killing, getting revenge. While they did manage to have someone die of cancer which seems almost mandatory these days. At least this time it was more to set the whole rest of the story instead of drawing out a bad ending. Lots of Chinese idioms and culture with very positive outlooks in general.

Will probably rewatch again a year or so from now to compare 2022/2023 to how the future is for China. Don't see how it's getting straight 10's except for trying to push towards a high rating to get more people to watch. Sort of feels more contrived to push certain themes and views to foreign viewers.

Healing but slow paced

its a slow paced drama right at the beginning you already know its about healing and finding your place in life. Sometimes you get lost in life and it is all about finding joy and a meaning in life. I realised when watching this drama I do not have to watch everything with much attention to know what is going on. The only parts were the parts with the main leads which was interesting to me.

What i like: all the main characters, scenery and the slow paced romance which is very believable.

What I did not like: slow paced, music, too many side characters which did not bring anything to the series.

NEW FAVOURITE CDRAMA !!!

Just finished this drama !! I must say it is best Cdrama I have watched in a while. It's not fast paced but a slow burn romance along with side characters.I am usually not a fan of watching a lot of side characters but in this one I watched every single side character's story without skipping any part. This drama is very realistic, I know a lot of people don't like to watch realistic shows but this one teaches you a lot of things about friendship , relationship with your friends, family, neighbours etc .
The best thing about this show is the acting as all the actors from children to old grannies nailed it especially our ml and fl , it was my first time watching them and trust me they did not disappoint me they made their character alive to a point that I think that this was their real life personalities.I think how much you'll like this drama will be based on how much tired you are or at what time you are watching like I watched this drama after watching a really typical cliché drama and l have also watched a lot of romance dramas but this one just feels so real and warm. As someone who loves slow burn romance this drama did justice to me 😭🥹 while watching the last few episodes of the drama I was crying the whole time not because it was sad but because it was going to end :(

One special thing I also liked in this series was their OST istg every single OST is Great ...!!! And yes the village, it was so pretty that I feel I should also visit that place. ATP I am so connected to this series that if I will ever visit the village mentioned in the series I will find my own way through it :D..

Overall this series warms up your heart,it's very light hearted ,no attacks giving plot twist , no cringe story or acting ,no rich poor male and female characters just pure love and friendship . I just don't know why this series is so underrated that's really sad because more people should watch this drama and appreciate it..!!

I’m really enjoying watching this series little by little in the evenings — it’s perfect to breathe, relax, and fall asleep to. A true slice-of-life drama, almost literary in the way its dialogues and ideas unfold.

Here, there isn’t really one central character, but rather a whole atmosphere that feels incredibly cohesive and human. There’s no huge dramatic goal driving the story. The beginning (ep1) was actually quite hard for me because I usually don’t enjoy this kind of subject matter, but as the series progresses, it feels like we go through therapy alongside the characters, slowly changing our thoughts and moving away from sadness little by little.

The male lead feels very natural and not idealized at all — which is rare for male characters in dramas, since they’re often written like perfect princes. The relationships also feel realistic and grounded.

This is exactly the kind of drama China knows how to do so well — one of its real specialties and unique strengths, alongside wuxia and xianxia.

A cosy show with low angst and a lot of heart!

I was taken aback by what this show might be when episode 1 was so bleak!
Slow-paced shows are some of my favorites. I love when it’s set in a small town and there is an eclectic bunch of cast.
This show served that in large buckets! it was just so cosy.
But even for me, this show moved at a snail’s pace, at times.
It’s not a show I could binge-watch, but it has such an unknown magical quality that with each episode I watched, it was like going home to see familiar people.
It’s one of those shows that heals you when you didn’t even know you needed healing.
And by gosh, the acting was incredible.
It felt so genuine, like I was peeking into their lives, instead of watching them acting out scenes. I was particularly impressed by both the leads, who did a fantastic job of carrying that slow-paced storyline.

Also loved that the show didn’t need to tie everything in a neat bow by the end, that not all people who you were rooting to become couples actually got together.
That was a brave move.

I would definitely recommend it if you’re in the right mood for this slow-paced, slice of life drama. It has very little angst but so much sweet heart at it’s center.

Thoughtful, Slow Burn Romance

Meet Yourself is a heartwarming slice-of-life drama about a burned-out urban professional who, after a tragic loss, moves to a picturesque village in Yunnan to find healing, community, and unexpected romance.

This might be the healthiest, most relatable Chinese romance drama I have ever seen. The two main leads share an incredible amount of chemistry, and the relationship they build is profoundly thoughtful and beautiful. Watching these two souls connect episode after episode genuinely makes you believe in love. Dedicating a full 20+ episodes to their dynamic before the romance officially comes to fruition allows for a slow-burn pace that feels exactly like watching a real relationship develop on screen.

While the 40-episode runtime was perfect for building a believable, grounded romance for the leads, the show did feel slightly bloated by the supporting cast. Very few of the secondary character arcs felt truly meaningful. Though some were sweet and interesting in the moment, they mostly fade into the background in the long run.

It is easy to see why this show is often compared to Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha. While that series feels like a more cohesive package where all the elements blend seamlessly, Meet Yourself is slightly uneven. The romance is an undeniable 12/10, but the side plots sit closer to an 8/10. Despite this imbalance, it is a drama I will always remember fondly, and I will absolutely rewatch it in the future whenever I need a beautifully crafted love story.

Soul moving, Life changing, & Self healing kind of drama. Calm and peaceful environment. I admire the ML for his love to his town and to make it better for the people's livelihood in the town. The FML is really good at acting. Her role put me into a place to reflect my own life.— actually both the leads made me think and reflective of my life as a whole person. And for that, I can say that it is a great watch and worth watching.
