Nice story development

What I really liked was the attention to detail in the styling. I felt it accurately matched the time period and they even went as far as to darken the skin tones of the characters so as to reflect the harsh conditions of rural farming.

Story-wise, it has its share of twists and turns, and that’s why it’s called 人生之路。 Mistakes are made, hearts are broken, life happens.

I feel that Li Qin acted very well in this. Her “never say die” attitude was convicing, as well as her love for the ML & 2ML.

I actually liked how the directors chose to pair the leads, it makes it realistic that there is no perfection in life and you may not necessarily end up with the person you thought you would. The person you actually end up with could have been the better one for you after all. I also felt that the ending was satisfactory, after all that the ML had been through.

It's a story about perseverance towards achieving your own dream!

this is a story about perseverance towards achieving our own dream! this is a process of growth in life. i am very attracted with this kind of inspirational story that can lend us some strength and wisdom to muddle through our own path.

this story is logical, fast paced, emotional and sincere.

this story centered around the life of gao jialin. being born in a farmer family in a remote humble village, he has a very big dream. that is to go to the big city shanghai and find a new life there. his dream is what fueled him to study very hard to pass the college entrance examination. nobody from his village has been to a college before, so they also put a lot of hope in gao jialin to be the first one to do so. but unfortunately, a betrayal from the people around him had crushed his dream to ashes.

but he didnt give up. eventhough he fell down again and again, suffered and beaten down by fate, he still hold on to his dream. he tried again from scratch to walk slowly towards his dream.

and there's also romance in the story as love is also a part of our growth.

the male lead is not the typical perfect hero, he does commit mistakes and makes wrong choices in love. its normal for you to get angry and scold him for what he did! but this is what realistic drama is about, because people in reality do have flaws. we learn to be better along the way of our life. you will realise that the male lead had began to slowly change the way he sees his own life and the people around him. on the otherhand, the female lead has a very pure and kind character. she deserves all the goodness in the world.

Epic.

Epic is truly the best word to describe this drama. Even the way the story starts in the dramatic landscapes of Shaanxi, you're immediately pulled into the stark rural life of Gaojiazhuang. Without giving too much away, I absolutely loved how all of these characters were written. Complicated, multifaceted, honorable, broken, human. No one is blameless, and I think this realistic writing makes these characters 1) extremely relatable and subsequently 2) people you find yourself rooting for despite their flaws. Supporting cast i.e. the parents acted so well. It's to the point where I forget these are actors playing characters...you feel like a fly on the wall watching everything unfold. In particular I think the three leads for Gao Jialin, Gao Shuangxing, and Liu Qiaozhen did an outstanding job, portraying a wide range of complex emotions across their story arcs that span decades. I particularly appreciate when a story closes in a full circle moment, which this drama absolutely achieves. I hate cheesy endings where everyone gets what they want. This is not that kind of drama. The ending is a mirror of real life and made my heart sore in the best way possible.
