Lost potential..
Just watched the last episode and honestly i am disappointed.....i think the drama had soo much potential, especially the first 6 episodes were soo good but than they had to ruin the story with the love triangle. I didnt really like the motive of the villain either...i think it was kinda lazy to just make him crazy or whatever. I think thats just me but i didnt really understand the connection between Do Hae Yi and Lee Yoo Min.. just because they had similar characters ? I didnt really get that part tbh. I really liked their friendship and overcoming hardships and training togehter i just wish they would have helped other members other that Do Hae Yi out too. I understand that she is the Main character but i think it would bring out their deep bond more and i think it would have been great for the story too. I hate how they made the 3 things that will happen (sorry i dont know the english word) to the team into a big joke at the end by saying "somebody will die of LONELINESS", for me it really made the whole story into a big joke.... rather than a mystery drama it became a comedy. Still i think they are all great actors and i really enjoyed all of their acting. I am just disappointed in the story...Was this review helpful to you?

Cherish Your Youth
I held off on watching this drama for quite awhile due to the simple fact that I’m not a fan of love triangles, which this show very much has. I kept seeing snippets of it via social media, though, so I finally caved & pushed play. And while the triangle definitely lowered my rating some, I’m still glad I watched it because I ended up enjoying it more than I expected to.It tells the story of a quirky college freshman who has no time for extracurricular activities/clubs because she’s solely focused on making money to support herself + her mother & younger brother. So she initially turns down her bestie’s request to join the university cheerleading squad, but when she’s bribed with money if she joins, she quickly signs up. The catch? She must keep it a secret that she’s being paid. She thinks it’ll be easy money… then she officially meets the captain (whom she’s already had some not-so-good encounters with). He’s more serious & mature than her, so their personalities constantly clash. Not to mention that he’s very passionate about the squad, while she’s only in it for as long as it takes to get paid. So the viewers are left with an all too familiar question of: will this duo resolve their issues & misunderstandings so they can have a happy ending or are they destined to be each other’s college-love regret?
As the story plays out it presents the viewers with lots of different things. It has some truly hilarious parts that left me giggling at the chaotic cast. It also had heartwarming moments that remind you how beautiful & precious life is. There are realistically sad moments too that caused my heart to hurt a bit for the characters’ pain. They experience both losses & wins throughout. The plot has enough secrets & mysteries to keep you invested in seeing how it all finally plays out. There are villains & there are heroes, each with a story to tell. We witness the characters’ trauma & how they grow. There’s life-long friends & the birth of new friendships. There’s the angst & excitement of many new loves.
And there’s the underlying message about choosing to chase your dreams no matter the obstacles & not wasting your youth since you only get to live it for a short time.
Now, for the main trio.
- The FL: I found her to be quite unique. I feel like generally girls with her personality & brand of crazy are relegated to side-character status, so it was refreshing to see such a quirky girl as the lead female. I quite enjoyed her as she was a strong young woman who didn’t let others push her around. How she handled her ex? Ha - you go, girl! She was determined to provide a better life for her family so she willingly sacrificed her own happiness to help them, which is both admirable & heartbreaking to watch. She did take this to the extreme & was quite controlling/bossy to both her mother & brother, but her reasoning is later explained & then you just want to give the poor girl a hug. She wasn’t afraid to stand up for herself, nor to work hard for what she wanted. And while she didn’t enjoy hurting people, she didn’t allow their feelings to manipulate her into doing things she was truly against. Yeah, she frustrated me at times with the triangle drama, but overall I found her to be relatable in her flaws & commendable in her strengths.. 🫶🏻
- The ML: I know some may think differently, but he’s totally green, IMHO. Yes, his hesitation in confessing is frustrating & makes him seem a bit flaky, but when you take into account why he was hesitant, it’s kinda admirable (even while still annoying). He truly wished to protect the FL so he wanted to keep his distance until the danger surrounding the squad could be resolved. I was so happy when he finally allowed himself to follow his heart despite the risks, because he was so good for her. I know he screwed up & reacted poorly towards her a couple times, but again, take into account the why behind his reactions & it all makes sense. PLUS he took responsibility & apologized for messing up, which takes a lot of maturity to do. He was also super cool in his refusal to let her “take the heat” for dating him, her captain, when that camera crew was around. And one of parts that made me absolutely love him is how he handled their “break up”. Honestly, he’s total aces in my book for that (iykyk). 🫠
- The SML: look, I’m just going to be straight up honest here & say that I don’t at all understand the obsession with this character. To me, he’s a total red flag. He’s a very selfish & self-centered guy. (FL’s brother says it best with his response when the SML tries using him to get closer to her. I was totally cheering for the brother in that scene!) For the majority of the drama he’s very obsessive & manipulative, one of the love-rival types who’s just seriously annoying to me. He doesn’t care about the FL’s lack of interest in him or how his actions affect her. After the FL again rejected him, he started dating out of spite which is super unfair to his new gf. That does not say “good guy” to me. Yes, he had his moments where you could see his potential to be better, but he almost always ruined it with his usual immaturity. Until the last episodes, everything he did was selfishly motivated so sorry, not sorry, I just didn’t like him. 🚩
As for the rest of the squad, I’m glad we got to delve into each of their stories a bit. It helped them seem more like real people, rather than just filler side-characters. It also is a great reminder that every single person has a story of their own to tell. While we’re the MC’s of our own life stories, we’re just the side-characters in someone else’s, while they get the MC role. It’s important to remember that the world does not, in fact, revolve around us & our individual lives. 😉
Also, the moms were a total bonus. It was fun to watch them reconnect & navigate through their rivalry, history, & all it brought with it. They were such opposites as parents, but they both unashamedly & completely loved their children. They had their good points & their bad points which just shows that mothers are human too.
One last thing I’ll mention - I have no idea why they’re called a Cheerleading Squad. Maybe it’s just lost in translation? In my country, they’d be labeled a dance team. Which honestly is no big deal & doesn’t take away from the plot at all, I simply mention it because I was really confused in the first several episodes while I waited for them to do some actual cheering. Or at least some stunts in their routines like I expect cheerleaders to do. But there’s absolutely none of that so I’m just throwing that out there so you don’t go in with those same expectations as I did, haha.

A drama that inspires youth alongside with romance and friendship...
tbh i was first swaying whether to watch this drama or not cuz there were some reviews which said it was boring and stuff. But i really liked to see Bae In hyuk in another drama since my roommate is a gumiho. i must say that i really rrally enjoyed this drama that had mystery init too... the cast was super perfect and they made passion in cheer leading . one of the things that i really like is the main couple. they were not either too cheesy or clingy . i reall loved the two actors who gave life to their roles and made the show smoother. honestly i was confused at first who was the male lead bcuz both the leads were so promising . but finally it ended in the way i wanted hehe :))if you are looking for a drama to cheer you up CHEERUP is one of the best options
Thankyou

maybe not the best.. but I liked it
I guess if I was to judge it objectively, the drama isn't very thoughtout in terms of the plot. the love triangle is frustrating and the mystery isn't very impactful especially towards the end. but i lovedd the female lead and how bright and energetic she is but also how unapologetically she is herself. the side relationships are also really cute.i love how supportive and close the team gets and i feel that is an opportunity that not many people get. to me its very wholesome and heartwarming.
the ost and whole concept gives me coming of age and it really makes me feel nostalgic. looking at the banner and poster it kinda gives me motivation to be as determined as them.
even though it has it pitfalls, with some cliche kdrama writing, i really liked it. however if these things upset you, you probably shouldn't watch it.

Nice drama "Cheer Up" (2022)
"Cheer Up" is a lively mix of romance, mystery, and youth drama, following Do Hae-yi (Han Ji-hyun) as she joins her university's cheerleading team, Theia. With strong performances, engaging friendships, and a thrilling mystery, the drama keeps viewers entertained. While the romance and suspense are enjoyable, the pacing can feel slow at times. Still, its vibrant energy and heartfelt moments make it a fun watch.⭐ 9/10– A refreshing campus drama with cheerleading, love, and a touch of mystery!

my new favorite FL character, so bright
i watched because of Bae In Hyuk but ended up rooting for 2ML.. poor me 😆it’s been very funny and I laughed throughout the 11ep
only 2 complaints: I really don’t like the choosing one person over someone as in my opinion, FL has strong personality and bold I wish they would write her off not choosing anyone at all and continue loving the cheers. most annoying of all: they fall in love too fast (ep2 I think) very annoying indeed.
Love triangle in kdrama really is annoying sometimes. but I think this is the first one that FL and 2ML kissed each other before ML 😆 I shipped them so hard ahhhh

Cast was very good. They were a great pair but the plot disturbed the rhythm of romantic element. Such great visuals in single drama made the drama promising the mystery element was also great but the episodes were almost the same the confusion of mfl over her love, the idioctic gesture of sml and the mml being the greatest green flag of all times which was the only interesting thing of this drama but also annoying.
The side plot of romance between side characters was the only delight in this whole drama

This show is a train wreck but I can't seem to look away
INCOMING RANT: The main lead, Jungwoo, has the personality of a tree. Not only this but him and Haeyi have almost ZERO chemistry. Like they don't even feel like friends. They just exist. Then there's the second male lead, Sunho. And sweet Jesus, the fact that people think he should be with Haeyi is concerning. Haeyi already rejected him, yet he continues to approach her. And to make things worse, when Haeyi is VERY drunk, he kisses her?! He literally took advantage of her. I mean, Sunho is just a walking red flag for these reasons: he can't take "no" for an answer, continues to approach Haeyi with romantic intentions, and takes advantage of Haeyi when she's drunk. I mean, why would anyone think that Sunho is good for Haeyi? Or for any woman for that matter. Anyways, I don't really ship Haeyi with any of the leads, but if I HAD to choose, I think Jungwoo is much better for her. The main redeeming factor for this show is the interesting story and mystery aspect. The whole creepy stalker thing leaves you on edge. The romance, however, will leave you angry and confused. Was this review helpful to you?
The second lead…
I love watching the episodes so much . The story is so good and I really loveeeee this show .But then there is a but ..
the entire love triangle is so frustrating at this point .. the second lead is so annoying I’m sorry .. the end of episode 7 made me so mad , he’s getting on my nerves more and more each episode , he got rejected so many times and he knows she don’t like himmm. And he knows she’s in love with the main lead so whyyyy HES KEEP DOING WHAT HES DOING . just let go man fr
Expect of the second lead I literally love the main lead with her and they’re the cutest thing to exist please be together next episode Do hea yi and park jung woo ☺️☺️☺️

Nothing to cheer about
LIKES:Wardrobe was good, same with colour pallet.
Cinematography was okay.
Okay music, nothing memorable.
Familiar locations, same as other dramas.
I liked Hae Yi’s best friend and her interaction with Min Jae.
FX for scrapes and their zombie game, were decent.
DISLIKES:
Pacing:
I skipped some parts, which is why I don’t know what happened in the end For Soo II, after he fought with the “villain”, but I also don’t care enough to watch that whole episode again.
Production and Editing:
Some parts were abruptly cut and hard to follow what happened. Even their episode recap was a mess.
Shaking camera syndrome appears again (lack of using film stabilizer).
Directing:
Drawn out scenes that could’ve spent time on development of characters.
Everyone carries a cell phone, but no one uses it to call 119. Instead they yell at the person who is in distress, over and over and shakes the wounded person.
Overly delayed reactions of characters.
Writing:
Too many filler scenes, plot holes and an under developed love triangle, where chemistry between the FL, ML and 2ML, was severely lacking.
The characters felt like they were in high school, but some looked way older than university.
The thriller wasn’t thrilling and was so obvious who it was. Also how that was concluded made no sense.
OVERALL: The actors/actresses did as well as they could considering the terrible script and filming. This is a decent filler show, when you're waiting for your show to post new episodes. No adult scenes, a few kisses and hugs. Expected more since it's a 2022 made show. I wont watch it again and it barely made it to 4/10 (that was me being generous too).

where has this been all my life?????
where has this been all my life???? like it was sooooo good, cast was amazing and storyline was also amazing. I just looooove this kdrama. finished this in like a week(because of work😒) but i really liked hae-i and jung-woos relationship, like there wasn’t anything toxic, jung-woo gave hae-i the time she needed and helped her, thats what you do in relationship. at times it felt like sun-ho was main lead because he was everywhere and jung-woo second lead. also they shouldn’t have added that killer dude there, everything was good but then he came and boom everything was bad and sad. I really liked hae-is character she was soooo chaotic, like you never know what comes next with her haha. Jung-woo was also so cute like he shyshy but the way he looked at hae-i🥺🥺love in his eyes. overall very good and it’s like fresh and youthful, this show gave me warmth, how they cared for each other 🥺Was this review helpful to you?
