Tremendously hilarious BL sitcom

I like how the opening part of the series is the direct continuation of s1 finale. It is extremely fun to see Mob still fighting the BL trap in his world.

In the beginning he almost gave in to his own feelings for kikuchi, he was about to propose him but it seems the world has stored more fun for him and thus marks the appearance of kikuchi's ex.

Normally I don't like comic reaction in japanese drama because it seems so animated. It feels as if they are trying to copy the same from manga to series which generally doesn't come out well in live action. Reaction and expressions in manga are meant to be a bit exaggerated to keep the art engaging and so I can't say the same for the live action. But Inukai just nailed it. His portrayal of mob was on point. His animated comical expression just didn't felt awkard but was extremely funny and gave a good laugh.

I loved the story, it is so light-hearted that I could just watch it again and again. I was expecting the show runners to give a clean ending but they ended up with another cliff hanger and opening a possibility of 3rd season.

If you people you are looking for some light hearted BL sit-com, then you are the right place.

a surprisingly good continuation of season one

Story: We start right where we left off, and while I was a little upset at first how quickly they pushed Kikuchi aside to return to the good old same old Mob narrating and observing his and other people's lives, trying o avoid "becoming BL". And while it was fun and I was enjoying myself, I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed at how this show treated Kikuchi. But given the title, it was no surprise that they wouldn't fully commit to the Kikuchi and Mob train. Or to say it with Inukai Atsuhiro's own words: "I'd say it was most difficult how far the characters should go. If they end up together, then it destroys the very title of this series. I think season 2 begins in a way that was "as expected"."

Acting/Cast: I was glad to see many familiar faces from season one and how that tied into the season showed more themes of outside forces and internal struggles in an established relationship rather than only focusing on meet-cutes like in season one. Especially when watching the making-off of season two, you can feel how they are all glad to be there and give it their all, and it shows.

Music: The intro slaps. I love to listen to it, and I never skip it. Ever. It's seriously a bop. And the way they styled the people this season was very dramatic, and I loved it. I'm sure there is a deeper meaning or at least some particular thoughts that went into it, but I honestly don't know, and I'd be weird to assume things, so I'll leave it at that xD

Rewatch Value: Season two only has three episodes roughly 25 minutes long, so it's perfect for a quick and easy watch.

I remember last year that I played its opening song for hundreds time lol

I kinda miss this show actually so when I knew this series complete released, I put aside every other series that I've been watching since month ago. Even though I know this series is a BL Comedy, but I expected something bigger (at least in a comedy part). If I compared this season to the previous one, it quite decreased from many aspects. I'm pretty upset to say this, but I'm gonna waiting for new season!

Like Season 1, I fond of the way how they ended this series. It feels like, they made us to wait for this series finished intentionally.

Unexpected sequel from the show that defines what decent rom-com story looks like

Grateful for the out of the blue sequel of one of the humorous mini-series I’ve ever watched. Huge fan of the prequel as it made me cry due to the extreme happiness I acquired from the show. However, the excitement I felt during the first season has a huge gap compared to this one. It is less fun in contrast to its previous show. Some scenes in this season are acted in an over dramatic way that is intended to be fun but turned out to be cringe occasionally. Yet, this is still a good quality of rom-com drama provided to every BL fans out there.

Glad to see the playful characters once again but more well pleased to be able to hear those bop music from the opening and ending song once more. They made a new concept to the MOB-song; styling them as 80's - 90’s anime characters that came into life is remarkably cool and authentic. Those silly steps and colorful vibes are sending me real entertainment. I wish they released the song on some streaming sites such as Spotify and YouTube. As usual, Bubble Love by Da-iCE manages to maintain its spot to my favorite Japanese soundtrack playlist.

I followed some of the actors on their Instagram account and Ito Asahi, the artist who played as Kikuchi, got my attention ever since the first season. His cute facial expressions with those bubbly eyes, pointed nose, and kissable lips is worthy to adore. He has a low tone of voice that matches his innocent looks. Aside from him, Toujou (Shiono Akihisa in real life) is the runner up from the rest of the cast that stood to me the most. On the other hand, the duality of Inukai Atsuhiro is something that I found amusing since he can play as the flamboyant Mob and as the fiery Shiro from his recent drama, Kei x Yaku: Dangerous Buddy. From the looks, personality, and character, they are like heaven and earth.

The idea of naming the school as BL University is a witty addition of spice for a story revolving inside the world of a BL manga. The improvement between Touji and Ayano’s romance was great. They’re like a perfect representation of a classic campus sweetheart couple but with a different approach since they established all of their clips from this season outside the school. The kiss suits the age of their characters since it was like a teenage pecking of lips but a part of me wishes that they should perform a more intimate kiss. Moreover, the most important thing is that they included a kissing scene from this season making it their second or third on-screen kiss in the show.

The episode in which a certain lovely girl suddenly switched into a flirty guy made me question if that person is a HE or SHE in real life. She looks like a girl but I’m in doubt since the story only casted male actors so far and the absence of women in the show is almost concluded.

Our MOB finally loosened and let himself carry the flow of the BL manga author that leads him to be the main character of his own. I like that even the ending clip admits that the kiss is such a cliffhanger and ends up in a sudden long distance relationship. I have a strong feeling that the third season is likely to happen since the main character mentioned it during the last scene. The production may be either on the way or already finished taping. Nevertheless, with or without a third season, A Man Who Defies the World of BL is a fine work of art in the field of short filmmaking for a mini-series category.

meta BL comedy continued

Overall: a fun meta story where the main character is in a BL comic/world which picks up where season 1 left off. 3 episodes about 22 minutes each. Aired on Viki https://www.viki.com/tv/38419c-a-man-who-defies-the-world-of-bl-2 and GagaOOLala https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/2660/a-man-who-defies-the-world-of-bl-2021-s02e01

Content Warning: dub/non con kiss

What I Liked
- awesome dance/music intro sequence
- the flowers and blinding light
- I chuckled a few times
- subverted the cliche ex character

Room For Improvement
- the beginning scene that picked up where season 1 left off
- wanted more focus on Mob & his brother instead of multiple couples I didn't care anything about like the hospital characters in ep 3
- lip press
- cliche running scene
- cut off something at the end
- (neutral) normally I'd take off a half point or more for a cliffhanger ending; however, there was a season 3 though as of 2025 it still hasn't had an international release

This was cute! Like I said before, Inukai Atsuhiro has a great comedy timing - which he showcased perfectly here - but my favorite scenes of his are still those where his voice turns all soft and sweet, when his characters turn all lovely and wonderful. And though there weren't many moments like that in S2, I still loved them.

Like when Mob was reading Kikuchi's goodbye letter. That one hit just the right spot. Or when Mob encouraged Ayato to go and talk things through with Toujou because he didn't want him to have any regrets later on. That one had just the right amount of softness.

My favorite side-story not involving Mob? The one with the girl that was no girl. That one was so good. I loved all the manhandling!

This drama - and its first season, of course - also introduced me to Ito Asahi for which I'm grateful. I'll have to look for more of his work.

I hope that Mob was right at the end and that there will be S3! It makes me smile and all happy and fuzzy on the inside. It's just the right cure for feeling blue.

Short, Sweet smile generator

Say hello to the common BL cliches as the boy who defies BL tries to avoid them... part 2 started with a twist and ended with a twist... it follows the format of season one and is definitely not a show to see on it´s own.

The characters are pretty flat but sweet which seems to be the point, If you have not watched season one you should probably start there If you have not watched any BL´s then chances are you will not get part of the humour though some applies to any romance so it won´t be a complete waist of time... this could actually be a bit of a beginners guide to BL´s that can help people enjoy otherBL's more start with this, watch BL search for the cliches kind of thing.

What I love most in this is the intro song and the side characters... the main is actually probably the least fun of them all (which again seems to be the point).

I also find myself shipping the "wrong people" oh well... not a must watch but definitely an enjoyable one that had me lauging, and smiling once or twice...

Divertentissima parodia

O forse no?

CONSIGLIO !!!
