My School President

I don't give out full-10 ratings lightly-- it's quite rare, in fact-- and going into this show I was not at all expecting it to be one of them. So you can believe me when I say that my rating of 10 for My School President was very well-earned. Let me count the ways:

* It's unbelievably charming, feel-good, and sincere; and while there are a few moments of pain, they never over-linger-- in the end, while there are some hardships, the show is ultimately kind to both the characters and the audience, and that's something we could all certainly use a little more of these days.

* It has the framework of a musical, but that framework has a light touch, and anyway the music that is featured not only has plot relevance, but is also actually good (!) (...well... aside from that one {mercifully short} rap battle in one of the episodes, LOL, but I'm pretty sure that was supposed to be hilaribad on purpose 😆, so the point still stands).

* This show is legitimately laugh-out-loud funny. And while it can also occasionally be a little awkward/embarrassing (mainly just to showcase how unhinged the characters are 😆), not only is the comedy genuine, it's never mean-- it makes you laugh *with* the characters much more than *at* them. (And you will be laughing with them A LOT, I can tell you... 😆😆) (The occasional product placement is played up a bit over the top on purpose as well, to hilarious effect.)

* There is some realistic seriousness at just the right moments, which is all surprisingly moving (for example: One character's commentary on grief; the deeply sincere understanding and support the main couple gives to each other; and other various things that would be far too spoilery to list here), but it thankfully never dips into melodrama. The balance is just right.

* The show starts off with *TWO* unreliable narrator main characters (complete with imagination sequences), and you actually get to see through *both* perspectives very early on (no dragging out of the reveals!), which is a really fun dynamic. Yet they also know precisely when to taper that off-- the reliance on unreliable narration and imaginary scenarios only lasts exactly as long as it needs to to set up the characters' personalities and worldviews, and then it smoothly morphs into much more (yet still not 100%) omniscient framing, with just an occasional (though in exchange even *more* unhinged! 😆) imagination sequence later on at exactly the right points. It all just works so darn well.

* Speaking of the 2 main characters: They have the dorkiest, sappiest, sweetest, and most utterly sincere and supportive and actually openly communicative (!) and healthy and wholesome romance ever-- and I LOVED IT. And Tinn, in particular, loves with such wholehearted unconditional devotion, and asking for literally nothing in return, that it's impossible (for both his love interest as well as us viewers!) to not adore him in response. 💘

* The friends of the main characters are absolutely priceless (literally everyone's an idiot-- and that includes the 2 main characters as well!-- except ultimate wingman Tiw {and even he has his moments 😆}, but they all really care about each other), and are actually rather nicely fleshed out, with very believable and strong friendship bonds (indeed, the friendship bonds are basically equal in importance to the romance{s}, which is a feature I really appreciate), subtle character arcs, and some hilarious/sweet romances of their own, which all feels quite relevant yet still never overpowers the main couple. (There's that perfect balance again!)

* Plus, along with the aforementioned great friendship group, the 2 main characters' parents are also fantastic.

* EVERYTHING that ALL of the characters say and do is... well, in-character-- meaning, everything that happens, from how they communicate to their actions, all make internal sense to the established narrative and their established characterization. (No dreaded random out-of-character moments for fake 'drama'? It's a miracle! 😍)

* There are so many *excellent* (and satisfying!) subversions of standard romance tropes and pacing as well as audience expectations (in a very good way)! 👍

* While there is obviously an overall story and plenty of continuous character progression, the episodes themselves are wonderfully self-contained/self-resolving, which to be honest is really refreshing (and helps contribute to the overall feel-good-ness of the show). And even with the to-be-expected cliffhangers in the last few episodes, the main conflict of each of those particular ep.'s are actually still dealt with inside that same ep., leaving only whatever the episode's secondary issue is as the cliffhanger hook.

* The acting is fantastic-- some of the best stuff was even completely improvised!-- and I was very impressed by it, especially considering the main actors' age and experience levels before going into this production. (This company just plain struck gold with Fourth and Gemini-- they're basically acting prodigies at this point, if what I've seen of them here and elsewhere is any indication, and their chemistry with each other + clear playful comfort acting together is outstanding.)

* While not high-budget, nor taking place in a setting/location that is conducive to what might normally be considered beautiful cinematography, it still looks good, and what the director and cinematographer(s) do with the resources they do have is great-- from the color theory to the use of barriers in frame (for example, see the characters' recreation of a music video in one of the episodes-- which uses crossing barriers as its premise, and which is made into an openly blatant parallel to their situations at the end of that episode-- then go back to the beginning and watch it again, looking at all the framing *before* it was made blatant, and you'll see that that same use of barriers had actually been there the whole time), etc.

* And finally (and most importantly!): 🚨THE ENTIRE ENDING ACTUALLY STUCK THE LANDING!! 🚨 MEANING, THE HIGH QUALITY OF THE WRITING MIRACULOUSLY HELD STEADY ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE SHOW'S FINALE, FOR ONCE!!! ✊️✊️ There was *no* willful miscommunication, *no* random out-of-character left-turns, *no* ridiculous breakups or separations, *nothing* stupid thrown in merely for the sake of ~~dRAmA~~ without any logical foundation for it... *nothing inconsistent at all*!! I mean, please don't even get me started on the amount of times a shoddily-written ending has ruined a story (I could savage so many works of fiction for this in painful detail if someone gets me started on the topic 😅), but that was thankfully *NOT* an issue here! 👍👍 This show would deserve a trophy for even just that alone, but to have that be topping off everything else I've mentioned... give it a *crown.* 👑

My School President was clearly created with a huge amount of love, from the writing to the acting to the production itself. And everything that I laid out in detail above just combined to make a basically perfect show.

This is an absolute gem-- and I'm so glad I watched it.

ADORABLE AND HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP

I don't usually write any reviews but I just had to write one for this series!

DISCLAIMER: I do not want to spoil any of the storyline but it could be considered spoilers to some.

Initially, I was not as interested in this drama as the other gmmtv dramas that were coming out since they were new actors I did not know much about them. Additionally, I thought the drama was going to be like any other typical high school bls but I am glad I tried and gave the first episode a chance because I was hooked!

STORY/OVERALL: This has got to be one of the most adorable storylines I have watched thus far and the couples and friendships of the group are so Sodium-Radium-Potassium! While watching this drama I was feeling all sorts of emotions and for the most part: mainly bubbly and happy when the couple is together. It is so refreshing to watch this drama because it is not your typical high school BL drama. Their relationship is honestly one of the most non-toxic and extremely healthy ones I have ever watched. They were both green flags all around and they COMMUNICATE! The story isn't only focused on the couple, but also focus on the groups' friendship and family. I also would have to say that the problems or conflicts do not get dragged out too long so I also liked that very much.

ACTING/CAST: I feel like I can't judge their acting without knowing and being ignorant. But I personally feel like every one of the actors and actresses is good at acting and really pulls you into the story. Can't wait to see more of the young generation actors here acting in future projects.

MUSIC: I absolutely LOVED every each one of the ost, whether that be a cover or an original from the boys! Definitely will be listening to all the songs for a long time!

REWATCH? : I definitely will rewatch this again! I am already feeling so empty knowing I won't be seeing them next week!

Last comment: I really hope you guys enjoy watching this series as me! This honestly is now added to one of my top bls :)

A+ all around drama

I was tentative to watch this drama because I wanted to watch it all at once and binge watch. I also saw everyone raving for this drama and wondered and assumed it was overhyped. GMM is doing something magical, I really thought after the era of Bad Buddy and Not Me that they would faze out and release average things. But My School President is such a good show all the way around.

This drama is high-school oriented and I am not in high school so I wondered if I wouldn't have a place to watch this. It just brings out all the charming parts of having a crush on someone, and it's nostalgic also because of how they portray characters and their crushes. The whole idea of joining a club or going to school to see your crush and just being motivated by them nails the high school experience of falling in love. Of course in real life something this adorable and wholesome is too good to be true, but this drama is just a pure copy of exactly why I watch dramas to begin with.

I'm really impressed with the new actors that are the leads in this show. When I began this show I immediately was sucked right in and believed their roles. Gemini and Fourth have their first leading roles here and do it excellently. Fourth's character walks a tight rope of being annoying because he is so ambitious, but he isn't. Gun has goals and I really like the exploration of his character. Fourth plays his so so so well, he is so cute and not annoying or overbearing at all. Gemini I thought was the straight man in this drama, he plays Tinn and I thought he was one dimensional and the character that stands for values and rules. The end of the first episode really switched that up and he is also just a high school kid with a crush. I am rooting for the pair inside and out of this drama.

My School President I recommend to people that are getting bored with drama's in general. Each episode has a new song and the songs are actually good with good singing to back it up. Fourth has a comforting voice and every song is added to my serotonin playlist. This whole drama gives me serotonin and I am definitely rewatching.

With finishing this up I am not disappointed, the relationship was natural and pure and wholesome. It’s been a whole since I anticipated each week for a new episode for something but felt bittersweet also about it. This show is one of a kind and I don’t know what can top it when it comes to Thai BL

Seriously 10/10 is not enough for this masterpiece

Cuteness overload, green flags everywhere, perfect parenting, incredible friendship, on point communication and the chemistry is so good it's nearly explosive

My expectations where really high, because I got this series recommended to a lot myself. It definitely did not disappoint! They are already starting off at an incredible high level of perfection in the first episode and are able to hold this standart up until the end.

The friendship between the band members is way too cute and there will be some unexpectet (just as cute) turns in event that are worth looking forward to. This series will make you blush and happily kick your feet and screem in your pillow and thinking back (or looking forward) to your first highschool love

I literally cried so hard at the end. HELP. ?

My School President was so good. And when I mean good I mean AMAZING. honestly the well drawn out episodes kept me watching it waiting every friday for a new episode. honestly it’s a cute fluff bl for the people who don’t like watching 18+ scenes. Their relationship was so intimate and they didn’t even need that many kisses because of the actions they showed to each other. I am honestly speechless thays I even had that much attachment to a series. tbh I recommend it 100% and to me this will stay the best bl I watched yet and I honestly wish I could rewatch it again for the first time. The acting was amazing and the whole story about a Singer and School President is just so refreshing and a concept I haven’t heard of in any bl yet. 10/10 series because I’ve never skipped any scenes or been so excited just for a new episode. Just Tinn and Guns chemistry alone was equivalent to a kiss. I don’t think i’ll ever get over this series and it’s so underrated tbh. And the Music? OMG i’m telling you all of the songs are so good especially Hook by Gemini. Just all of the songs were so good. So if you see a scene with music please don’t skip that was music that made me levitate. Honestly I’m gonna miss being excited for fridays and watching My School President the moment it premiers. But honestly a 10/10 series and ill still be crying 😓

Healthiest High School Romance I've Ever Seen

I absolutely loved everything about this drama. Everything went at a very healthy pace, and the characters are so open with each other demonstrating how healthy every relationship is. If an issue occurred, it was solved in a reasonable amount of time and didn't show up again throughout the drama which I appreciated. Nothing seemed forced, and compared to other dramas I've watched, I never felt anxious waiting for the next episode. This drama just made me feel like everything would be alright, which is what I feel now that I've finished it.
Fourth and Gemini did amazing in bringing these characters to life; because of them, MSP has become my all-time favorite drama. Every Friday, I felt nothing but happiness while waiting for a new episode to drop. I recommend this to anyone and everyone who's interested in BL or just wants to see healthy relationships on the screen. I'm so sad to have seen this drama end but I can't wait for what the future brings Fourth, Gemini, and everyone else!

Wish I could watch it for the first time, again!

If you are like me and love 2gether, Still 2gether, Semantic Error, Mr. Heart and the like, you will love My School President as much as I did. It's sweet, sweet, sweet. The PDA isn't over the top, the OST is FANTASTIC, the actors are so adorbs! Their relationship from beginning to end is not toxic in any way. N'Forth's smile sends a blast of sunshine through the screen every.single.time. N'Gemini acting shy and his sly smiles are too cute.

This is a feel good, sweet, non-complicated, non-toxic, fun sound track drama that is not cheesy, over acted, or classless. Watch this when you need a smile.

Best BL Ever Written/Produced/Acted

If there is a review under a 10 the authors are taking life too seriously!




MSP is special because they took a totally different spin on a very typical BL plot and created a pure genius series. Even with the typical scenes… cooking together, breaking one’s fall, listening to music etc..

This series kept me laughing, smiling and moving my body to the music.

I do have a different take on the chemistry between Fourth and Gemini, there is chemistry oozing out of Fourth, but IMO Gemini awkwardness shows. To me this did not affect the series in anyway. There are such awesome scenes to make up for the awkwardness.

The music is top-notch. I like the uniqueness in the style.

I hope to see more of all the actors in this series. They really out done themselves. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
