Story of Kunning Palace

Both have rich narratives that intertwine historical contexts with elements of romance and mystery, providing a captivating viewing experience for fans of the genre.

Both have an historical palace setting with a slight twist of the real world (secondary transmigrated character vs. set in a novel) and a complicated anti-hero ML and FL with excellent chemistry in a slow burn romance. Both FLs have a very close relationship with the SFL who is part of the love triangle/reverse harem of the FL's love interest.

Jiang Xue Ning's obsession to become an Empress causes the rebels to destroy the royal family. She gives up her life for Zhang Zhe's freedom and she is reincarnated as her 18 year old self and becomes a disciple of Xie Wie.

The similarities in time travel and the dynamic between relationships are similar, including the costumes. The fighting rebel scenes are similar in the skills and action scenes.

Aside from the obvious historical setting, there are some other similarities as well:

- the FL is reborn and sets out to change the past
- the ML is seen as evil/vicious and rebellious, but is actually loyal
- the background of the story is court politics and plots

Both are historical dramas in which the FL dies and finds herself reborn in the past, but still entangled with the royal court and events of her former life.

Both are palace dramas with love squares. 3 powerful men love one woman. A lot of twists and turns and a lot of angst. But very well-written story and great acting in my opinion.

Similar due to the mix of the Jianghu and palace concepts. Both are palace dramas with wuxia elements, although Who rules the World is more leaning towards wuxia with palace drama, while Story of Kunning palace is more palace drama with wuxia.


Both also have strong female leads who are very smart.

If you enjoyed the 'I know the script, and I'm going to change it' aspect of My Page in the 90s, this is the high-stakes, historical version. It's about a woman reborn with knowledge of her past, like a villainous Empress. She spends the drama trying to outsmart everyone to avoid her original tragic ending. It's more intense but very satisfying for fans of 'meta' plotting.

Both FLs die and return a few years in the past. They initially try to avoid the ML who they feared in their first life and blame for their deaths, but begin to see them differently. Both MLs are obsessive in their love and very unhinged.

Colossal dramas, revolving around kingdoms and also about the politics of the country.

A man who is actually a woman, a love story that pierces the soul. The chemistry of the main cast is extraordinary.

both male leads volunteer to sacrifice themselves for the crown prince to protect him. this results in them going through hardships and being tortured. resulting in a long-term disease that can not be cured. one of the differences is that the crown prince in one remains in the palace protected whereas as the other the crown prince is hidden away again protected. political intrigue betrayable, romance and revenge

One is the drama, the other a variety show with the cast.
