A physical education teacher, Shinji Otomo, lives alone in a rented house in the mountains. One night his student called Toshio Imabayashi visits. Toshio says his best friend Tadokoro died because of the teacher, so he should take responsibility and die suffering from seppuku. Shinji loved both Tadokoro and Toshio so he agrees and Toshio helps him prepare for death.
