Welp!
I won’t lie the first time this kdrama was being advertised i was suuuuper excited and had such high expectations, especially since i love comedy kdramas and this was advertised as one.to that being said, let me just say that the comedy was certainly served well and i had many moments where i laughed! so that part was good.
but i can’t lie that certain moments in the episodes were such a drag. couple of episodes in it got super boring and it seemed like certain moments in the show were added just to make the episode longer, like a filler of some sort.
most dialogue scenes were super boring except for the rivalry between won and his sister, i was really intrigued by them! i wish we got to see more of them and more of them getting along.
the side plot with the mother was also rushed imo and very boring, she appeared out of nowhere and was quickly accepted and then we moved on, and the thing with that friend with the husband? like why did she stay with him when he’s a literal selfish prick? though im happy she put him in his place and i loved the daughter!! she was such a savage!!
i loved the side characters a lot but i also feel like mr.no’s romance plot was either ignored or forgotten? even if it was hinted at like maybe once or twice it felt like it just got erased and was used as a filler plot. i’m also sad we couldn’t get to see more of sarangs hotel!
so in conclusion i think a lot of things in the show were dragged out or rushed ! it wasn’t a bad show per se, it’s a good watch but it did take me months to finish it.
anyway the actors did well!

Childish and cheesy
This is the first kdrama I had to drag myself through to the end. I really wanted it to be good. Unfortunately, the leads had zero chemistry and many of the scenes were just stupid. I was actually rooting for the girl his dad wanted him to marry. 😆At least she had some personality. After coming off an amazing and award-winning string of dramas, I cant understand how Lee Jun Ho got dumped into this cringy one. His management needs to up their standards. Sorry to those who liked it. 😬✌️Was this review helpful to you?
FINALLY Leads With Chemistry!
Let me be straight right up front. King The Land's plot, or lack thereof, is nothing new. The character personality types are ones we've all seen time and time again. I only started watching it because of the hotel setting. I'm a sucker for some settings and luxury hotels is one. In my opinion the story would have been better had it concentrated more on the inner workings of the hotel. With that being said what KTL has the almost every romcom (and every drama with a needless romance) doesn't have is chemistry between the the leads. It's painful watching a drama where the supports carry every episode because the leads suck. Trust me. I've seen way too many of them from several countries. Luckily, KTL's Lee Jun Ho and Im Yoon Ah had chemistry to spare. In fact the entire cast worked well together and the character bonds leapt from the screen. Animosity and hate also jumped the screen. I have to give a special 'well done m'am' to Go Won Hee. Damn did I hate her. She played one of the biggest witches that ever witched. Her character, Oh Pyung Hwa, was a nasty spiteful piece of work. Go did a damn good job portraying her. The girlfriend chemistry was wonderful and I enjoyed the every 6 sibling scene.
The dialogue is good but there's no substance. The editing is excellent. The end of the episodes had you guessing what was next (usually incorrectly) making watching the next episode a must see. The star behind the scenes is the costumer and whoever picked Lee's 3 piece suits. *drool* That man looked good. Honestly, all the men were keenly dressed. The work uniforms were well fit as well. The only failures were the suits worn by Go. All, but 1 were ill-fitting.
Typically, I pay no attention to the music, but a couple of songs in KTL caught my ear. It has no re-watch value for me unless I just want to watch some well dressed men. ZZ Top did not lie.
King The Land is fluff. Plain and simple. It's an easy watch that you don't have to invest much in. You can turn your brain off and just watch it. No need to figure out a mystery or guess what someone is thinking. It's obvious. I'm not saying that's bad. We all need some fluff sometimes. I needed a break from my murder mysteries, supernaturals, and thrillers. King the Land provided that break. All in all, I enjoyed it. If you need a break, give it a shot and enjoy it for it's simplicity.

Falls below its potential
This drama would have done better if it was shorter. The writers had a brilliant cast to work with that gelled really well together. They had such interesting material for the 2nd love story between Pyung Hwa and Rowoon. I loved the sisters character because she wasn't devilishly evil, she wasn't trying to kill her brother or anything insane. So much potential was wasted. The writers/directors/producers were so obsessed with the visuals they forgot to bring any substance.Lack of character development - For any of the side characters I would have loved to have seen some development.
What happened to Hwa Ran's mother? Why did they make it seem like she wasn't her father's daughter? Does she love her husband? How did they meet?
Pyung Hwa had the most interesting background and as a throw away we learn the pilot was her ex? Why did he register the marriage? How did she confront him then? I would have loved more of Rowoon's background, how did he become to be such a great person?
Da Eul's ending was wasted too. Get her together with someone better. Being single is better than that loser of a husband. He didn't learn anything at all.
Unclear ambitions for the main leads. Won wants to own everything but settles for the hotel? Why doesn't she open a hotel with her name Sa-Rang that means love in Korean, rather than Amore? WHY? Won is busy building an empire, why can't she do it at his side? The resort hotel could have been the starting place? She worked hard to get to the top of her field and what? She starts over? She earned a position at King Hotels. She would have earned that promotion!
It was just too long for no reason. But the parts I didn't fast forward through were nice.

A drama similar to WH SECRETARY KIM, but not as good
It was ok, i enjoyed watching...STORY - the positive reasons of the drama are others than the plot. The story is similar to other dramas. Side stories not very interesting...
And hard working girl and a rich good man meet and...
CAST- good job of the main actors.
MUSIC - i liked one song. Do not remember the others...
REWATCH - do not think so.... Maybe one or two scenes. I prefer rewatching better dramas with similar plots.
OVERALL - i enjoyed watching. Did not liked the end very much, especially the job decisions of the FL. Did not enjoy the unemployed golfer husband... Or the story of ML's Mother and the take smiles...

brought back the golden era of kdramas
idk what others are on about. yall are so used to conflicting plots, unecessary drama and toxicity that yall find a lighthearted, healthy romance ‘cringey’? that's ridiculous. the entire point of a romcom is to be cheesy and sweet. anyways, imo it was a wonderful watch. the acting was amazing, the visuals were amazing, and the story never felt lacking even though it was 16 episodes of fluff. the ml was the greenest flag ever and the fl was so witty and charming as well her professional skills made her so much more attractive omg. the chemistry was off the charts! so adorable, so ideal. the drama overall was refreshing, not in the sense it brought something new, instead it brought back the 201-ish comfort of watching kdramas. just say you don't know how love works in real life if you're gonna call this drama cringey lmao your love life must be tragic. Was this review helpful to you?

Story
King the Land (2023) is a South Korean romantic comedy that takes viewers on a whirlwind journey through the luxurious world of hospitality. Starring Lee Jun-ho as the arrogant heir Gu Won and Im Yoon-ah as the ever-smiling hotelier Cheon Sa-rang, the series offers a delightful blend of enemies-to-lovers romance, corporate intrigue, and heartwarming moments. Here's a breakdown of the key aspects of the film:
Plot: Gu Won, thrust into an inheritance battle within his family's hotel empire, clashes with the dedicated Sa-rang, whose infectious smile he finds irritating. As they navigate their opposing personalities and work together, their initial animosity gradually melts away, paving the way for romance and personal growth.
Characters: Lee Jun-ho delivers a charismatic performance as the initially cold and aloof Gu Won, showcasing his character's vulnerability and hidden warmth as the story progresses. Im Yoon-ah shines as the optimistic and resilient Sa-rang, bringing depth and emotional weight to her portrayal. The supporting cast also adds layers to the narrative, providing humor and intrigue.
Romance: The enemies-to-lovers trope is executed well, with the initial bickering and misunderstandings leading to a natural and believable romantic development. The chemistry between the leads is undeniable, making their emotional journey all the more engaging.
Humor: The series balances its romantic elements with witty dialogue and comedic situations. Gu Won's uptight demeanor often clashes with Sa-rang's sunny disposition, creating humorous moments that lighten the mood.
Heartwarming Moments: Despite its comedic elements, King the Land also packs an emotional punch. The characters face personal challenges and learn valuable lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and the importance of human connection.
Overall: King the Land is a charming and entertaining rom-com that offers more than just lighthearted fun. With its engaging characters, well-developed romance, and blend of humor and heart, the series is sure to leave viewers feeling warm and satisfied.

The plot is tissue paper thin but let's be real, no one is watching for the plot.
The writers took one look at the current kdrama landscape filled with shorter shows with better pacing and tighter scripts and said absolutely not, we are going to create the first 16 episode drama that is made up of ONLY filler episodes. This is less of a drama and more of a very extended commercial for luxury hotels, 3 piece suits, duty free, Audi cars, Thailand tourism, and Danish butter cookies for some reason (I'll admit I was utterly delighted every time they opened the tin and there were actual cookies and not sewing supplies inside, if you know you know). Watching this show felt like taking a vacation and it was fun to leave reality behind and step into a world even more magical than Daeho - a world where rich bosses actually care about their employees' well-being (can someone force Bezos to watch this?).There's a tiny nugget of a succession storyline buried beneath layers and layers of fluff, and if you squint, there are hints of a genuinely compelling and thought-provoking message about how capitalism favors profits over people and the value of labor, making it clear that the writers did actually put some thought into this before eschewing any sort of broader message in favor of putting Yoona and Junho in increasingly ludicrous situations to fill the time. As someone who likes to multitask but doesn't speak Korean, it was honestly great to watch a kdrama and only half pay attention and still not miss any important info and that's not entirely a criticism.
This drama is akin one of those insane milkshakes that used to be all over Instagram. It's not going to be for everyone but it also doesn't pretend to be something it's not. This isn't for people who want a deep, thoughtful meditation on life and love. It's for us simple bitches who want to look at pretty people doing fun, lavish things and not have to think too hard. Are there better dramas out there? Absolutely. But Yoona is a delight and Junho is always great at playing the rich, slightly pathetic failboy (see: Good Manager) and together, they are two dumbasses in love and I love that for them.
With the last 4 episodes, the drama seems to have taken a turn towards the melo, which I'm not overly fond of (if you've been personally traumatized by Moon Lovers, raise your hand) so I will probably skip or fast forward through the end, but again, that's not really a criticism.
I probably won't remember this show a year from now but I had fun watching it, which is all I can really ask for, and what I will remember is this absolute banger of a quote: "I just chased happiness and ended up here." May we all be so lucky.

Ceva intr-un ambalaj stralucitor
Basically, it is a mix of cliche, variety show style shooting, brand advertising (not very subtle). Acting...disappointing, commercial clip level packaged as drama. The secondary actors, some are veterans and know what they are doing, but even the venerable grandmother does not patch up the script from the pieces. Poor direction and editing, I've seen better graduation projects than this. The picture still has a few successful frames, but the actors are posing, not acting. The negligence of the team reaches the ridiculous with the Indian actor playing the role of an Arab prince. Even school children know that no one but an Arab can be an Arab prince and only an Indian can be a maharajah. plus it's poorly played, like the western roles. It is so full of contrasts, as if it were a suitcase covered with labels from all the airports. The second bad series, with famous actors, in 2023. Start thinking Netflix subscription is overrated. Was this review helpful to you?

An expensive production with a whole lot of nothing
I was really looking forward to this drama solely for Lee Jun Ho because I loved him in the Red Sleeve. But, the show is so utterly underwhelming and shallow, there is nothing to look forward to. The characters only exist to pine after each other without trying to accomplish anything in life making for a very boring and uninspiring story. This is a cliche rom-com where a rich guy falls for a working class employee. It would've been interesting if the writers treated the characters like adults, instead of high school students, and gave them mature interactions and meaningful conversations. Instead, they proceed to bore us with every single overused cliche known to k-drama making the plot extremely predictable. Gu Won has no personality outside his crush on Sarang. At the beginning, he is shown as a sophisticated and rich bad-boy skydiving in a suit and landing on a helicopter pad James Bond style. Later, we find out that he is nothing more than a nepotism baby with no social awareness, no competence, no charisma and exists solely to pine after Sarang. Even his feud with his sister is superficial because he doesn't do anything other than pursue his love interest. He finished an MBA at the beginning of the show, which could've been a nice plot device for him to start serious work in the hotel and eventually become the owner. No, he is a director in name only and doesn't do anything or show any particular interest in work. Even his employees have to tell him that he needs influence and support in order to succeed, instead of spending so much time obsessing over FL.
Some story arcs are completely asinine. The Arab prince is reduced to a total simp for Sarang competing for her affection with Gu Won. God knows why we need another atrocious love rival trope where everyone falls in love with the heroine because she is so precious. And the arc with the flight attendant friend isn't interesting enough for me to care about because she is such a minor character.
Overall, the show felt like a high school drama filled with overused cliches. Characters have no motivation and there is no real plot. Pass.

A classic rom-com drama, not bad but non that remarkable either....
If you are up for a feel-good drama, with good looking people falling in love , this drama is for you!I was actually looking for this type of drama afer watching "revenant" lol, i guess i needed some romance to heal my heart lol.
The story: i get that it is a light - hearted drama, but i kind of wanted the male lead to be less lazy in the first 10 episodes, i wish the writers gave his character more dept. Some parts of the script didn't make sense though, it felt less realistic .And some important society issues were actually brushed out with comedy ; laughing it out wasn't on my point of view the best way to handle it.
Acting department: i liked Yoona in this one! i will definitely check out her other dramas.
i wouldn't rewatch this drama , and overall it wasn't that bad, i didn't skip or fast-forwarded any scene, so i will give it an 8/10.
