King the Land: Where Heartfelt Romance Meets Hilarious Chemistry

Set in a luxurious hotel, the series revolves around a wealthy heir, who is uninterested in his family business, and a bright, hardworking woman who ends up becoming a hotel employee. The contrasting personalities of the leads create a perfect setup for a heartwarming and engaging story.

The plot follows the development of their relationship as they navigate workplace dynamics, personal differences, and family expectations. While the story is not groundbreaking, it offers a satisfying mix of humor and heart. The romantic tension between the leads builds gradually, and their interactions are filled with sweet moments that keep viewers invested in their journey.

What truly sets King the Land apart, however, are the performances. The lead actors have incredible chemistry, making their developing relationship both believable and endearing. Their ability to effortlessly switch from comedic to emotional moments is impressive, creating a compelling dynamic that drives the show. The supporting cast also contributes strongly to the overall charm of the series, providing a well-rounded and enjoyable viewing experience.

The pacing of the show is generally steady, though there are moments where the storyline can feel a bit predictable. Despite this, the characters’ growth, both individually and together, is engaging enough to keep viewers hooked. The setting of the hotel adds a touch of glamour and luxury, which adds to the overall appeal of the show.

While King the Land might not break new ground in the rom-com genre, it does what it does best—offering an entertaining and heartwarming story, enhanced by strong performances and relatable characters. If you’re a fan of romantic comedies with a dash of humor and warmth, King the Land is a delightful pick.

Would be good if it wasn’t so boring. The actors are ok, but there is no chemistry. The male lead is a good actor and so handsome, but he’s so unlikeable that you struggle to like the character. The female actor is just there, adds nothing to the story. Kept hoping that it would get better, but…. Not here to bash it but really didn’t like it.

the sadness of my life is that I will never find a Gu :'(

I found it really enjoyable to follow the couple's development. There were moments that I found tiring and irrelevant to the story and the drama could have had fewer episodes. I loved the friendships that already existed and were built along the way, my dream was to find friends like them who were more like family. It would be very pleasant to see Mr. Gu appear and humiliate Pyung's service staff, they were terrible and the only one who saved them was her boyfriend, those snakes deserved to suffer some of the consequences of their actions. And speaking of Pyung, I burst into tears when she went to visit her mother-in-law, that really hit me.
Many times I shipped Da-eul with Mr. No, and almost at the end I still had hope that she would leave her stupid husband and stay with him.
I almost freaked out at the end of the penultimate episode, when she said she wanted to leave, I thought she was also talking about her relationship with Gu and that made my heart stop, I almost freaked out. And one thing I didn't understand was why she chose to open a hotel right away, that didn't make sense to me.
I felt very angry with Gu's sister, the only good thing she did was not letting her little son go away again; no matter how much she suffered everything she suffered, didn't justify all her ridiculous and despicable activities, in the end she only thought about herself and played very dirty to get things (I still really thought she kept the stores and the airline, if I were their father I would leave it with just one department and look there).
And about their father, I thought he was an asshole when he sent Sa-rang away, nothing justified, especially after they had done the same to Gu's mother, and knew the trauma it caused him. In the end, I didn't really understand how Gu and his mother's situation turned out, but I hope they got closer.

If you are a fan of repetitive childish romance with annoying characters so i think you must not read this review

So Allow me although I'm a big fan for lee jun hoo
I've to say this drama till now extremely bad
I'm at ep 06
The story was very weak, repetitive ,predictable, shallow, trivial
And the ML & the FL characters were extremely annoying
And i didn't see any chemistry between them
Like I saw at wok of love with reyo won

The FL seemed to be so silly with the ml
And the ML seemed to be so weak and naive with the FL
No story at all till now,
even the romance was naive and repetitive
Old cliches nothing new
Every ep I asked my self why I'm continuing this sh**

This is sure less than ok and annoying
The director portrait the characters in a very bad way
But every ep. I said to myself jun hoo is a very good actor this may go much more better next ep
But it doesn't at all
Even for the sake of Jun hoo I can't continue this show

This soooooo much like secretary Kim which I hated a lot same bad story with lots of unnecessary kissing scenes
I played the rest of eps on FF mode till the last ep
P.s I liked the air hostess couple more

Very simple review

I love them, they’re adorable, junho is just so hot he makes my heart flutter and his acting is on point, also his character development was great, love all of his kdramas he never misses. It’ a bit too unrealistic but that’s fine. The story was fun, the acting was good, yuna lacked a bit. Osts are good. It's a new story which i likes. A light kdrama to watch whenever your in a good mood. I loved the friendship aspect of the three girls, and junho's assistant, them traveling together was very fun and cute. I liked how their relationship wasn't fast, it had a good pace.
Overall 9/10.

Nothing truly bad will happen & the only thing you need to focus on is the male lead

As I finish writing this review I want to give it a 5/5 because I almost dropped it 4 times.
It might be that with every trope I felt a :"dun-dun-dun" dread! But weirdly, everything that presented as a difficulty was rapidly resolved. Many familiar drama tropes that everyone complains about ,(especially the toxic relationship tropes) are teased here but then dissipate with pragmatic , reasonable application of-[GASP!]- communication!! Which you think would just make every viewer happy BUT ; Basically ALL the "drama" of the story is diffused", leaving nothing but blandness. The male lead has alot of charisma & does a brilliant job emoting & the camera blatantly stays trained on him, mesmerizing you with his impressive repertoire of sincere, flirty ,soulful longing looks-all of which pushes everything that's annoying about this drama to the edges of your peripheral.
He strongly reminds me of a young Jung Ji Hoon (Rain)
This drama seems interested in fulfilling the viewer's fantasy of boyfriend material/eyecandy. And yet, it didn't engage me fully or give me that " I can't wait to watch the next episode" feeling. { & I could have binge watched it.} The many positive reviews gave me really high expectations ,but It started off well & initially captured my interest, But by the end of Episode 1, I was very close to dropping it as

1) They did a TIME Skip with both characters over 3 (?) years , putting a BIG kink in the momentum.

2) And, Unforgivably, the writers have the Male lead encountering female lead ON the toilet (having intestinal distress). This kind of humor is a "nope" for me

Thankfully, the next 2 episodes are much better. But

3) by episode 8, the female lead's unflappable smug demeanor ,with her ever present smirk, REALLY grated on my nerves.

4) All of Episode 8 is one long Tedious travel advertisement for Thailand ,(that's like a youtube video of someone's vacation.)

And I can't believe that I am saying this, but

5) There is WAY too much kissing- it just stops being cute, romantic or special.

6) Episode 13 has the male lead reacting in such an unexpected way that it destroyed every positive feeling I had towards him.
[Though, like every difficulty in this drama, it's resolved in record time.]

No misunderstandings due to lack of communication here . !

All the men (but one who gets payback) step up, show up & behave the way they should (for the most part).

7) In Episode 14 the writer's suddenly decide that women want, need & must have everything on thier list of dreams for the perfect life.
8) Infuriatingly , the male lead is ,yet again, ready willing & chomping at the bit to do all the right things , BUT the female lead needs yet MORE in her life to be fulfilled.

9) The writers fake us out with a faux split with the female lead being sorry, not sorry [for being more interested in her own personal dream fulfillment than in working towards melding her life with her boyfriend} !

10) . ANY of the many sacrifices & changes the male lead has made For HER are taken for granted, & at no time does the female lead consider that she should actually care about what the male lead thinks & wants as well.

This like every other obstacle in this series, is quickly resolved, but as always,

11) it's made clear that the direction of the relationship is directed by the female lead (all of her friends likewise are alpha females in thier relationships).

There will be a happy ending for all the couples and even the semi villains . Perhaps I might have been less inclined to put off watching episodes had I known going in that nothing bad will happen and the only thing I need to focus on is the male lead (& the Male airline steward).

A smile on a silver platter

King the Land is a wholesome delight.

It mainly follows the lives of Sa Rang and her three friends, along with Gu Won and his assistant. Honestly, there's nothing new to this story. It's your typical CEO and the beautiful woman that catches his attention and never lets it go kind of drama. King the Land is the tropiest of the tropes. If you don't want cliches and overused scenes (one even so closely recycled from another series I thought I was hallucinating) then give this drama a pass.

That being said, I really enjoyed this! The storyline is bland at best but the interactions, character growth, and and acting is fun to watch. There are hardly any drawn out misunderstandings and battles are won quickly, which was refreshing as I sometimes am looking for something a little less stressful. This drama is full of wholesomeness at every turn, healthy couples (even the one that wasn't) and supportive relationships. Any ounce of negativity is quickly demolished.

The last two episodes did drag a bit, especially since all the storylines had been tied up nicely by that point, but it was still easy to watch.

All in all, I would recommend if you're looking for something light, fun, and sweet to watch!

An uncomplicated gem

Don’t miss this one! I see some reviews saying this show is loaded with tropes. It is and it executes them perfectly, so go ahead and eat it up. BUT there is so much more to this show that makes it worth watching! Underneath the typical chaebol and romance stuff is a look at workplace culture and ideas of prioritizing only profits versus caring for your employees and their well-being. I found the transformation that Won goes through as a result of meeting Sarang really beautiful. Both Junho and Yoona pull off their roles so well! Unlike so many dramas it never loses steam and the final episode is actually very satisfying. Overall I think the show is uncomplicated but very binge worthy.

A swoony love story that will have you smiling like an idiot (in the best was possible)

You know what the insane thing about this drama was? The leads had such boundless, blinding chemistry, the whole time I felt like I was legitimately watching two people fall in love. Almost always, while watching k-dramas, I can't help but be aware that I'm watching actors pretend to fall in love with their co-stars. That wasn't the case here, Jun-Ho and Yoona were so natural and genuine together, I forgot they were supposed to be playing characters and actually felt like I was intruding in a couple's private moments by watching them. I almost was tempted to look away in embarrassment when they were being all lovey-dovey. When they looked at each other, even without saying anything, it felt like they were communicating solely by the subtle changes in their expressions. It was amazing.

Other than that, this show was so cute, fluffy and fun. I smiled my way straight though it—seriously, I don't think I've ever grinned while watching a show as much as I did with this one. Sa Rang was such a lovely person inside and out, and the relationship with her BFFs was actual goals. If you told me these actresses had been friends forever, I wouldn't have doubted it for a second. Won was also a slightly different take on the chaebol heir. Yes, he was a little emotionally stunted because of his childhood trauma, but it was nice how open, honest and sincere he was in his feelings for Sa Rang since the very first moment. He fell hard and fast and it was adorable. Also adorable? His interactions with Sa Rang's grandma—her getting all emotional and weepy when they announced they wanted to get married almost about killed me with how heartwarming it was.

I think the weakest part of the show was the relationship between Sa Rang's flight attendant friend and her co-worker. The spark between them was sorely lacking (especially when compared with the main couple). Also, the guy was a bit one-note with his expressions. Little emoting to be found with him.

In any case, was this drama super predictable? Yes. Was it still lovely and a great time? Also 100% yes.

The plot is tissue paper thin but let's be real, no one is watching for the plot.

The writers took one look at the current kdrama landscape filled with shorter shows with better pacing and tighter scripts and said absolutely not, we are going to create the first 16 episode drama that is made up of ONLY filler episodes. This is less of a drama and more of a very extended commercial for luxury hotels, 3 piece suits, duty free, Audi cars, Thailand tourism, and Danish butter cookies for some reason (I'll admit I was utterly delighted every time they opened the tin and there were actual cookies and not sewing supplies inside, if you know you know). Watching this show felt like taking a vacation and it was fun to leave reality behind and step into a world even more magical than Daeho - a world where rich bosses actually care about their employees' well-being (can someone force Bezos to watch this?).

There's a tiny nugget of a succession storyline buried beneath layers and layers of fluff, and if you squint, there are hints of a genuinely compelling and thought-provoking message about how capitalism favors profits over people and the value of labor, making it clear that the writers did actually put some thought into this before eschewing any sort of broader message in favor of putting Yoona and Junho in increasingly ludicrous situations to fill the time. As someone who likes to multitask but doesn't speak Korean, it was honestly great to watch a kdrama and only half pay attention and still not miss any important info and that's not entirely a criticism.

This drama is akin one of those insane milkshakes that used to be all over Instagram. It's not going to be for everyone but it also doesn't pretend to be something it's not. This isn't for people who want a deep, thoughtful meditation on life and love. It's for us simple bitches who want to look at pretty people doing fun, lavish things and not have to think too hard. Are there better dramas out there? Absolutely. But Yoona is a delight and Junho is always great at playing the rich, slightly pathetic failboy (see: Good Manager) and together, they are two dumbasses in love and I love that for them.

With the last 4 episodes, the drama seems to have taken a turn towards the melo, which I'm not overly fond of (if you've been personally traumatized by Moon Lovers, raise your hand) so I will probably skip or fast forward through the end, but again, that's not really a criticism.

I probably won't remember this show a year from now but I had fun watching it, which is all I can really ask for, and what I will remember is this absolute banger of a quote: "I just chased happiness and ended up here." May we all be so lucky.

Where’s the twist?

This is my first review on rom com drama. I’ve watched a lot of dramas, not to mention other genres too. And I can say that this drama gives me a plain and boring vibes. I know that this drama is romance but surely, it’s not romance all along though? There must have to be some twist to make the story remarkable but this drama does not build up the plot. I love the lead’s chemistry but I don’t think it gives the strong reason to watch because until the episode that I’ve watched, there is no direction where the plot is going. The trauma, the backstory of the characters didn’t reveal up till now which make it seems like this drama will not be wrapped in a good way.
This drama could have done better with the plot and the cast but they wasted it.

Cheesiest kdrama I’ve ever watched to date

King the land and I have had quite the interesting journey together. I started off really disliking the drama because it felt shallow and extremely overrated. The romance was boring and nothing new, and the story of poor woman and hot chaebol has been beaten to death at this point. I put down the drama for maybe 3ish months because of college and ended up coming back and finishing off the second half in about 3 days during a family road trip. After coming back to the drama, I learned to appreciate how cheesy and cliche king the land is, and as the episodes went on, I began to see it for its own merits and uniqueness. I ended up falling in love with the main couple and the side characters, and I will honestly say I will miss king the land since it was a heck of a ride. There's not much of a plot and they do end up hitting on every cliche under the sun, but my goodness was it fun and cute and made me tear up many a time. If this genre is your cup of tea, you can't miss king the land!
