I absolutely love the anime. I plowed thru all the episodes in 2 days and was upset it was over. Then I found out there was a live action and I was like NO WAY!!

YES WAY!! The movie is not a good as the anime but good. I took points off because I didn't really like the ending that much and the scene where Lord Kudo tell Miyo to stay at her granfather's house seemed weird or rushed. Overall an enjoyable film. I am always in the mood for romance and this hit the spot. Meguro Ren, is excellent as Lord Kudo. No wonder he won the award for Best Emerging Actor Award at the 15th TAMA Film Awards Ceremony. I liked Imada Mio as Miyo as well.

I found my new crush in this too Watanabe Keisuke played Arata and he is totally my type. And it was nice to see my favotite anime voice actor, Tsuda Kenjiro in a small role.

BEAUTIFUL STORY! ✨
A GOOD Mix of Love, Family Drama and Fantasy.

*** TITLE:
The Title "My Happy Marriage" itself makes u feel Happy and Warm :)
(My cousin sis n I make fun about it, everytime that in real life, marriages are never happy😂
Also, another Title for this movie, "As Long As We Both Shall Live" is just saying "FOREVER", in a lengthy way :) )!

INITIALLY that same title made me SKEPTICAL to watch, thinking it would be some Boring Drama but when I came to know about the FANTASY Element and concept of Supernatural Powers in the story, I Rushed n I'm in! :)
Fantasy n Supernatural genres are always fun to watch.

*** STORY :
The Story of a helpless young lady Miyo (with Supernatural power but dormant here), being treated as a servant maid in her own house by her step mom, tortured by her half sister, being arranged a marriage alliance with a rude Lord Kiyoka Kudo (has special Supernatural powers) by elders and is sent to his house even before the wedding.

The story of how they get along,
How Love develops between them,
How their marriage alliance helped them to grow individually and also together in each other's company and mutual support &
Finally, How they found their happily ever after, together.

*** CHARACTERS & ACTORS:
Kiyoka - Miyo are a Power couple! 💕
They COMPLETE n COMPLEMENT each other 🥰

He became soft n kind bcz of Miyo, while her confidence is boosted up bcz of Kiyoka.

Their Couple proves that even an arranged marriage between two complete strangers, can work out beautifully, though bumpy, initially .

Their Beautiful Love Story proves that U can find ur TRUE and STRONG LOVE even when u are in a completely impossible situation :)
And gives a HOPE that sometimes Love will bring Good Changes in Life n not always Bad! :)

Ren Meguro is Cute ;) and the actress named Mio in real life and playing character Miyo, both names being the same is funny sweet.
Both played their roles well.
Their chemistry is Good and their height difference is cute :)

Watched the Anime adaptation (S1) from the novel first n LOVED it to the CORE.
It's FLUFFY, WARM n SWEET :) , in terms of Love story,
FUNNY (sarcastic), in terms of Family Drama (remember, Miyo's step mom n half sis' dirty politics at home, God! :/ )
and AWESOME, in terms of Fantasy and Supernatural powers (the lightning and sparks produced by Kiyoka to save Miyo are Fire! 🔥😏)
So Overall, THIS STORY IS JUST WOW !! ✨

And then this Live action MOVIE adaptation, it's VERY GOOD but not the BEST and AWESOME like the Anime.

It's just so bcz story-wise, MANY points are MISSING here.
Felt Rushed, the required SLOW BUILD UP n the CORE VIBE of the story, are MISSING here :(
For eg, the WOW factor that u feel where Kiyoka burns Miyo's house down with his Supernatural power - lightning & saves her etc - is GOOD here
But that is WOW & U get GOOSEBUMPS in Anime.
The slow build up that u need to feel that Miyo has to be saved from that family only by Kiyoka, even if it is by burning or killing and so when he did so, that entire scene, that core vibe is Missing here n is felt in Anime.

(I know that it's Difficult to Adapt Everything into a Movie :/
So Mr.Director, plss, better Adapt this story into a LIVE ACTION DRAMA with the ENTIRE STORY of Kiyoka - Miyo n with the SAME CAST !! 🥰)

Cinematography of the movie is Good.

*** RATING:
9 /10 for the Movie

9.5 /10 for the Anime, just bcz more story from the novel, is being adapted into Anime, since I want more of Kiyoka n Miyo :)

And OVERALL, 10 /10 FOR THE STORY!! :)

Review of 'As Long as We Both Live' also known as 'My Happy Marriage' / わたしの幸せな結婚

I first watched this in October of 2023. Later I watched the anime, then I read the first two light novel volumes covering the events of the anime and the movie, and then watched the OVA, which covers the final chapter of the second light novel. Finally, I rewatched this movie. I can tell you that it's a lovely story.

I wrote the following in my thread in X last year after watching both movie and anime:

Both the movie and anime are one of the best things I've watched this year. It's basically patterned after Cinderella, but what I like about it is discovering midway that it's also an Ugly Duckling story. ....'

It is a very emotional story. It is touching how she later discovered her gift and became the beautiful swan that she is instead of the ugly duckling the people around her thought her to be.

I believe many people have already written on the merits of the movie itself. I will just list some of the differences between the mediums.

*If you first watch the movie, which was the case in Japan — the movie was released before the anime — you might get confused about what's really happening, but it's good enough as an intro.

On a rewatch, you will appreciate some of the details that you missed on your first watch, but you will inevitably get annoyed at some of the omitted material.

*Whilst the voice actors of the anime did well, the chemistry between this movie's couple is better. It's worth watching just for that alone.

*The ending of the movie is cinematic and in my opinion better than what actually happened in the anime. Both the anime (first season and OVA) and movie covered the events of the first two light novels. I reckon that the producers of this film made this as a stand-alone and that no sequel will be made, which is probably why they made such changes in the film.

*Since the movie had to delete certain scenes and did not elaborate, I recommend that anyone who loves this movie and wants some more start over at the beginning of the anime and/or the light novels.

Good Enough

Japanese Movie " My Happy Marriage " is a fantasy melodrama based on a popular light novel.

The movie does a great job pacing the story and presenting it wholly, even though the ending needed more time to properly develop, leaving the viewer to believe that there might be a second movie to follow this one.

The film also fleshes out the characters, giving them time to properly unfold and giving them enough background to make it easier to sympathize with.

Also, the CGI was perfect, without awkward special effects that would have ruined the mood of the movie. Rather, they were nicely arranged along with the action scenes. The costumes were also great.

Finally, the performances were enjoyable by everyone in the cast.

So, overall, eight out of ten.

não conhecia nada sobre e nem sabia que era uma adaptação quando comecei só depois que procurei sobre e vi que tinha um anime e já me interessei em conferir também, pois esse filme me deixou totalmente apaixonado pelos personagens principalmente pelo casal que são perfeitos juntos e eu não sabia que seria o ren que vi o bl dele fazendo par com uma menina me deixou totalmente com uma sensação estranha porém ele tá divino demais já achava ele bom atuando! mio também sem dúvidas que olhos lindos essa menina tem não tem como não chora com ela ): queria proteger ela de todo mal do mundo.

Ce film japonais était dans mes recommandations Youtube, ou plutôt, un montage qui avait été fait sur celui-ci, ce qui me l’a fait découvrir et m’a donné envie de regarder le film. J’ai eu la chance de trouver un endroit où le voir assez rapidement !

Un long prologue, à défaut d'une histoire entière...

As Long as We Both Shall est une histoire qui semble bien trop grande pour être racontée en si peu de temps. Néanmoins, elle est restée engageante dans un mélange de fantasy, surnaturel et une pointe de romance.

Je n'ai pas lu le manga. J'avais commencé l'anime, mais je n'ai pas été au-delà de trois ou quatre épisodes. De ce fait, mon avis ne concerne que le film qui manque de profondeur. L'histoire est une succession d'événements (tous expliqués) mais seulement accolés les uns aux autres. Il manque tout le liant. Une suite ne serait pas de refus, car même sans rien connaître de l'œuvre, on sent qu'il manque des éléments. Bien que l'essentiel soit là, les petits détails sont absents.

Kudo Kiyoka (Meguro Ren) était fascinant. Je pense que l'uniforme et la jolie chevelure y sont pour beaucoup, mais l'ensemble de son personnage était suffisamment charismatique pour faire papillonner mon cœur une ou deux fois. Meguro Ren a saisi les bons aspects de son personnage sans en ajouter plus que nécessaire. À la place, il a rendu (encore) ses sourires rares et précieux, tout en paraissant avoir les épaules assez larges pour incarner un officier.

La raison qui m'a fait abandonner l'anime est la soumission excessive de Miyo (Imada Miyo). Si je dois avoir un reproche à faire sur le personnage du film, c'est également ce point. Miyo est passive tout au long de l'histoire. Elle résiste ? C'est bien, mais ne peut-elle pas faire un peu plus ? Bien qu'Imada Miyo dépeint un personnage mignon, il reste tristement fade. Elle n'a pas mal joué, néanmoins pour un personnage avec un tel passif, j'attendais davantage qu'un constant regard de merlan frit.

Leur relation n'est pas particulièrement approfondie en raison des autres intrigues. J'ai du mal à saisir les moments où ils tombent amoureux. Notamment ce qui fait flancher le cœur de Kudo. Même Miyo, qui doit être reconnaissante de quitter l'enfer de sa famille, ne semble pas si émue. Le manga en montre sûrement davantage sur ce point (et j'ai un vague souvenir que l'anime était identique dans le sens où on dépeint un ML tyrannique, mais qui est tout son contraire dès le deuxième épisode), mais peu importe. Je ne prendrai pas le temps de lire le manga de toute façon, alors !

L'aspect fantasy/surnaturel était formidable. Plus le temps passe et plus j'ai plaisir à découvrir des œuvres qui usent de magie, mais sans qu'elle n'y soit dans toutes scènes. Les dons de Kudo étaient intéressants bien que totalement sous-exploités dans un tel univers. Le don de Miyo avait aussi beaucoup d'intérêt, mais il est dommage de devoir attendre les vingt dernières minutes pour avoir un semblant d'explication. D'autant plus que son pouvoir est décrit comme spécial et particulièrement fort. De plus, le don de Miyo semblerait devenir un obstacle à leur relation, encore une fois, c'est seulement survolé, faute de temps.

Les dernières minutes sont rapidement expédiées. La révélation du don, son utilisation soudaine, la menace, la bataille, un sauvetage et clap de fin. Le film aurait dû être en deux parties ou un court drama de quatre ou six épisodes. Mais ils auraient trouvé le moyen de faire 4 épisodes de 20 minutes, alors bon... Je râle, mais en réalité, j'ai passé un bon moment. La musique était très bonne (avec quelques bruitages (lorsque les pouvoirs s'activent) marquants). La photographie était magnifique, tout comme la mise en scène.

En bref, As Long as We Both Shall est un film visuellement spectaculaire, une atmosphère plaisante et une musique subtile. Cependant, il semble davantage être un long prologue qu'une histoire complète.

Apprezzabile

Prima di scoprire che esisteva anche una trasposizione cinematografica mi è capitato di vedere la versione anime (una decina di episodi in tutto). Il film ne ricalca fedelmente la trama, qualche scena - eliminabile - eliminata per questioni di tempo.
Se devo dare un giudizio alla trama, gradevole la storia tra i protagonisti, mentre invece il fantasy che fa da background andava curato meglio, non si evince un chiaro senso logico, succedono delle cose ma resta un po' tutto buttato lì, senza grandi spiegazioni. Bravi e belli gli attori protagonisti, rispetto ai personaggi interpretati ho apprezzato molto la figura di kiyoka, mentre in Miyo ho riscontrato lo stesso, pesante difetto che presenta anche nella serie animata: troppo remissiva, il suo approccio risulta chiaro anche se non si prosta ogni cinque minuti scusandosi per ogni minima stupidata. Diciamo che il tratto è stato un po' esasperato, senza una reale necessità, anche perchè l'unico effetto ottenuto è quello di renderla un po' fastidiosa nei suoi piagnistei continui. Detto questo, ho apprezzato il film nella misura in cui avevo già ben chiara la vicenda. Va però detto che se non avessi visto prima l'anime, il solo trailer del film avrebbe generato aspettative davvero troppo elevate.

Suka padat, jelas dan lebih ringkes

Btw, ini pendapat aku tanpa nonton animenya ya. Waktu pertama nonton yang bikin aku kaget berkali-kali adalah sound effect-nya wkwkw padahal bukan scene serem atau gimana gimana, tapi aku kaget banget plis wkwk. Mungkin pada review kalo mereka sampai nangis nonton ini, tapi aku biasa aja sih. Lebih ke terpukau pas adegan adegan actionnya gitu wow banget menurut aku. Sejujurnya agak penasaran sama orang yang ngobatin kaisarnya itu, soalnya dia ga di mention banyak di film ini tapi pas di scene awal kayak ngasih tunjuk kalo dia ini adalah biang keladinya juga. Hmm sepertinya akan ada kelanjutan ceritanya di season nanti.
