Very Interesting Story
I quite enjoyed this movie and would be good as a series with even more details. At its core, it’s a romance and although subtile, it was very sweet and drew you in. The FL was just the sweetest thing and definitely made you root for her happiness. I would have loved more details and clarity on the grotesque and each families gift but only so much can be squeezed into a film. The acting was done well, the cinematography, along with the CGI was decent. I recommend this as a watch.Was this review helpful to you?

I absolutely love the anime. I plowed thru all the episodes in 2 days and was upset it was over. Then I found out there was a live action and I was like NO WAY!!YES WAY!! The movie is not a good as the anime but good. I took points off because I didn't really like the ending that much and the scene where Lord Kudo tell Miyo to stay at her granfather's house seemed weird or rushed. Overall an enjoyable film. I am always in the mood for romance and this hit the spot. Meguro Ren, is excellent as Lord Kudo. No wonder he won the award for Best Emerging Actor Award at the 15th TAMA Film Awards Ceremony. I liked Imada Mio as Miyo as well.
I found my new crush in this too Watanabe Keisuke played Arata and he is totally my type. And it was nice to see my favotite anime voice actor, Tsuda Kenjiro in a small role.

Review of 'As Long as We Both Live' also known as 'My Happy Marriage' / わたしの幸せな結婚
I first watched this in October of 2023. Later I watched the anime, then I read the first two light novel volumes covering the events of the anime and the movie, and then watched the OVA, which covers the final chapter of the second light novel. Finally, I rewatched this movie. I can tell you that it's a lovely story.I wrote the following in my thread in X last year after watching both movie and anime:

It is a very emotional story. It is touching how she later discovered her gift and became the beautiful swan that she is instead of the ugly duckling the people around her thought her to be.
I believe many people have already written on the merits of the movie itself. I will just list some of the differences between the mediums.
*If you first watch the movie, which was the case in Japan — the movie was released before the anime — you might get confused about what's really happening, but it's good enough as an intro.
On a rewatch, you will appreciate some of the details that you missed on your first watch, but you will inevitably get annoyed at some of the omitted material.
*Whilst the voice actors of the anime did well, the chemistry between this movie's couple is better. It's worth watching just for that alone.
*The ending of the movie is cinematic and in my opinion better than what actually happened in the anime. Both the anime (first season and OVA) and movie covered the events of the first two light novels. I reckon that the producers of this film made this as a stand-alone and that no sequel will be made, which is probably why they made such changes in the film.
*Since the movie had to delete certain scenes and did not elaborate, I recommend that anyone who loves this movie and wants some more start over at the beginning of the anime and/or the light novels.

Good Enough
Japanese Movie " My Happy Marriage " is a fantasy melodrama based on a popular light novel.The movie does a great job pacing the story and presenting it wholly, even though the ending needed more time to properly develop, leaving the viewer to believe that there might be a second movie to follow this one.
The film also fleshes out the characters, giving them time to properly unfold and giving them enough background to make it easier to sympathize with.
Also, the CGI was perfect, without awkward special effects that would have ruined the mood of the movie. Rather, they were nicely arranged along with the action scenes. The costumes were also great.
Finally, the performances were enjoyable by everyone in the cast.
So, overall, eight out of ten.

não conhecia nada sobre e nem sabia que era uma adaptação quando comecei só depois que procurei sobre e vi que tinha um anime e já me interessei em conferir também, pois esse filme me deixou totalmente apaixonado pelos personagens principalmente pelo casal que são perfeitos juntos e eu não sabia que seria o ren que vi o bl dele fazendo par com uma menina me deixou totalmente com uma sensação estranha porém ele tá divino demais já achava ele bom atuando! mio também sem dúvidas que olhos lindos essa menina tem não tem como não chora com ela ): queria proteger ela de todo mal do mundo.UM BOM ROMANCE COM BASTANTE DRAMA E MAGIA, RECOMENDO DEMAIS

My Happy Marriage est une romance fantastique très prometteuse, avec ce magnifique film, et avec une histoire qui mérite amplement une suite, voire plusieurs… que je me ferais un plaisir de regarder si cet espoir devient réel !

Une superbe adaptation
J'ai vu la première saison de l'anime et commencé à lire le manga avant de regarder cette adaptation. Et quelle bonne et belle surprise ! Certe, le rythme est soutenu car pour pouvoir traiter tout ce pan de l'histoire il fallait avancer vite mais ce n'est pas dérangeant. On ne s'ennuie pas un seul instant, les décors et costumes sont très beaux et les acteurs excellents. À voir !Was this review helpful to you?
Apprezzabile
Prima di scoprire che esisteva anche una trasposizione cinematografica mi è capitato di vedere la versione anime (una decina di episodi in tutto). Il film ne ricalca fedelmente la trama, qualche scena - eliminabile - eliminata per questioni di tempo.Se devo dare un giudizio alla trama, gradevole la storia tra i protagonisti, mentre invece il fantasy che fa da background andava curato meglio, non si evince un chiaro senso logico, succedono delle cose ma resta un po' tutto buttato lì, senza grandi spiegazioni. Bravi e belli gli attori protagonisti, rispetto ai personaggi interpretati ho apprezzato molto la figura di kiyoka, mentre in Miyo ho riscontrato lo stesso, pesante difetto che presenta anche nella serie animata: troppo remissiva, il suo approccio risulta chiaro anche se non si prosta ogni cinque minuti scusandosi per ogni minima stupidata. Diciamo che il tratto è stato un po' esasperato, senza una reale necessità, anche perchè l'unico effetto ottenuto è quello di renderla un po' fastidiosa nei suoi piagnistei continui. Detto questo, ho apprezzato il film nella misura in cui avevo già ben chiara la vicenda. Va però detto che se non avessi visto prima l'anime, il solo trailer del film avrebbe generato aspettative davvero troppo elevate.

La parte con la storia tra FL e ML, sebbene un po' superficiale, è carina proprio come avevo visto nei real; ma tutta l'altra parte, quella fantastica, ancora adesso non l'ho capita.
Certo che ML é proprio bello...

Btw, ini pendapat aku tanpa nonton animenya ya. Waktu pertama nonton yang bikin aku kaget berkali-kali adalah sound effect-nya wkwkw padahal bukan scene serem atau gimana gimana, tapi aku kaget banget plis wkwk. Mungkin pada review kalo mereka sampai nangis nonton ini, tapi aku biasa aja sih. Lebih ke terpukau pas adegan adegan actionnya gitu wow banget menurut aku. Sejujurnya agak penasaran sama orang yang ngobatin kaisarnya itu, soalnya dia ga di mention banyak di film ini tapi pas di scene awal kayak ngasih tunjuk kalo dia ini adalah biang keladinya juga. Un long prologue, à défaut d'une histoire entière...
Bien qu'engageante avec son mélange de fantasy, de surnaturel et sa pointe de romance, As Long as We Both Shall est une histoire qui semble trop riche pour être racontée en si peu de temps. À moins qu'il ne soit un film pour les fans de l'œuvre originale ?Pour moi, l'histoire manque de profondeur. C'est une succession d'événements (tous expliqués), mais accolés les uns aux autres. Il manque tout le liant. Même sans rien connaître de l'œuvre originale ou avec les maigres souvenirs des premiers épisodes de l'anime (que j'ai abandonné après trois ou quatre épisodes), on sent qu'il manque des éléments importants. L'essentiel est là, mais où sont les petits détails qui font la différence ?
Kudo Kiyoka (Meguro Ren) était convaincant en tant qu'officier. Je pense que l'uniforme et sa chevelure y sont pour beaucoup, mais l'ensemble de son personnage était charismatique. Meguro Ren a fait illusion avec un personnage distant et neutre, rendant ainsi ses sourires rares et précieux. En revanche, Miyo (Imada Miyo) était d'une soumission excessive. C'est d'ailleurs la raison qui m'avait fait abandonner l'anime, et c'est le même reproche ici. Elle reste passive tout au long du film. Elle résiste un peu ? Super, mais ça ne fait pas tout. Imada Miyo dépeint un personnage faiblard et fade. Elle n'a pas mal joué, mais j'en attendais plus qu'un éternel regard de merlan frit ou qu'on veuille la pleurer en nous rabâchant toutes les dix minutes son triste sort et la mort de sa mère parfaite. Le personnage n'étant pas exploré dans le film, j'imagine que je passe à côté.
Leur relation n'est pas particulièrement approfondie. J'ai du mal à saisir les moments où ils tombent amoureux. Miyo pourrait seulement l'aimer par reconnaissance de ce que je vois. En retour, qu'est-ce qui fait flancher le cœur de Kudo ? A part qu'il est devant une belle femme ? Le manga en montre sûrement davantage. D'ailleurs, j'ai un vague souvenir que l'anime dépeignait un ML tyrannique, mais tout s'est effondré au deuxième épisode, et c'est plus ou moins similaire ici. Bref, peu importe.
En revanche, l'aspect fantasy/surnaturel était superbe. Les dons de Kudo étaient intéressants, bien que sous-exploités pour un tel univers. Malheureusement, celui de Miyo le sera encore moins. Attendre les vingt dernières minutes pour un semblant d'explication, c'est ahurissant. D'autant plus que son don est défini comme « spécial » et particulièrement « fort », avant d'apprendre qu'il serait un obstacle à leur relation. Tout est survolé, faute de temps.
De ce fait, les dernières minutes sont rapidement expédiées. La révélation du don, son utilisation soudaine, la menace, la bataille, le sauvetage et clap de fin ! Autant miser sur deux films, ou une série. Quoique, ils auraient trouvé le moyen de faire quatre épisodes de 20 minutes, alors bon… Je râle, mais malgré tous les petits détails pointés, j'ai passé un bon moment. La musique était excellente avec des bruitages intéressants (lorsque les pouvoirs s'activent), la photographie était propre ainsi que la mise en scène.
En bref, As Long as We Both Shall est un film visuellement spectaculaire avec une atmosphère plaisante et une musique subtile. Cependant, il semble davantage être un long prologue qu'une histoire complète.
