Not too good

Well the story is really ordinary there are few interesting twists ,the starting was good but then it became boring for me and I skipped most of the drama from ep 8 till 17 and then only watched few important scene the revelation one was my favourite where she reveals her secret love other than that it was ok for me and nothing good ...plus the acting was fine for me ,the good looks of the main lead was great but I wish if it had more twists and turns
This drama had a lot of hype but still it couldn't catch much attention to me because of the boring job of the main lead and also her friends were not that good or interesting as well
And the age gap was not too much I don't know why it was made such a deal

If you like fluff and you can survive annoying baby voice - this drama is for you

POSITIVE:
- If you want to watch warm and nice people loving and taking care of each other expecting nothing in return - this is right drama for you. Characters love each other, and I am not talking only about romantic love, I am talking about love itself: love between siblings, parents, friends, co-workers. So, love and care 11/10!
- No toxic triangles and relationships.
- No stupid misunderstandings and breakups.
- Child actress who plays young FL is wonderful actress, beside being so adorable.

NEGATIVE:
- The way first encounter between FL and ML was directed is ... yuck. When they meet for the first time she is 14 (actress is 10 or 11 at that point and it is so obvious that she is not 14) and ML is 19-20. It was made as you would make romantic encounter with two adults. It was cringeworthy, tbh. I don't understand why they didn't go with some cartoonish version, him as knight on white horse, or something like that. Something funny to tone the cringe down. Because, little girls do fall for older boys, but it is so different from adults.

- The way director decided to portray FL
So, young FL at the age of 14 is very smart, charming, playful and cute. Actress Zhao Lusi is smart, charming, playful, cute. Director could let her "just be herself", but, ah, no! They decided to make her "cute" by giving her the most annoying baby-voice ever and they dumbed down her behavior. We have 17 years old girl that sounds like 3yo, then 19, 22 years old young woman, university student, who sounds and acts as she is in kindergarten. And she stays like that till the very end. Even when she is doing or saying something smart, you don't believe her due to her baby voice and baby manners.

Acting(Cast): 5/10 (10 for acting and cast, ZERO for baby voice)

Dumb baby-voice + baby-pouting isn't "cute"! It's ANNOYING! And disturbing because you keep wondering: "Hey, is this FL mentally challenged, or what?"

A childhood crush to lovers elevated by excellent chemistry and a hint of the forbidden . . .

In this realistic slow burn romance, Sang Zhi carries the show with her playfulness paired with a fiery stubbornness. She is willing to defer and let Duan Ji Xu lead but only to a point - determined and opinionated she doesn't hesitate to push if necessary. The suspense and tension comes from a few different places - their age difference, Duan Ji Xu's complex family and financial situation. In terms of ethics, their relationship matures with Sang Zhi's age with plenty of time skips. The plot hints at the forbidden without crossing the line.

The plot is simple and it's really the acting and chemistry that sets this apart. You, the audience, can feel and know the longing and hesitation from both sides. As they get older, the awareness that they are physically attracted to each other builds due to excellent acting.

The music is fine, production values bit low. I ended up dropping this before the end as once the central tensions were resolved, I started losing interest.

Overrated. I'm disappointed.

I will get to the point. I felt that the ML felt so ingenuine in the beginning. How did he go from "yea, you are my sister" to "I like you" in less than an episode like who what where when how why, I was so confused? Also, it felt like he wasn't taking the relationship serious most of the time (except for the ending) but for the sake of spoiler, I won't include specifics. He was super cocky but I guess that was his character as well.
The sibling relationship and family dynamic of the Sang family was TOP TIER.
I also wished we got to see a little of the friends' relationships and how they were doing. This drama was super centered on just the main couple and I was getting bored of them lol.
THERE IS ALSO A SPECIFIC SCENE WHERE BOTH THE ML AND FL WERE PISSING ME OFF (hint; involved the brother Sang Yan)
I found myself dragging to finish the show and skipping through the parts with the ML and the FL. You might wonder, well why did you even finish the show? ALL FOR ONE CHARACTER. SANG FREAKING YAN.
PLZ PLZ PLZ DIRECTOR PULL A GO GO SQUID AND DO A CONTINUATION OF THIS SERIES FOLLOWING THE LIFE OF SANG YAN AND HIS ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP. In the show he was such a good brother, friend, and son. Like he would always annoy his sister and act mad at her but he was always there for her.
I feel like he would spoil and care for his girl so much but would be protective. UGH GIVE THE MAN A SHOW ASAP. IT WOULD BE SO FUNNY AND SWEET TO SEE HIS RELATIONSHIP.
I was also thinking like a cute, sweet girl for him would be cute to watch but an outgoing girl would be so funny paired with him.

That's the first drama that i loved after reading the manhua first. Normally i tend to dislike the little changes and inputs that drama adaptations tend to do.
I primarily began to watch it for Zhao Lusi like everyone i think, but fell in love for the ML instead.
But here the changes are for the best, since in the manhua we spend half of the story watching her when she's 14. All the interactions between them when she's 17 in the drama never occured in the manhua she's 15 when he graduates and she never sees him again for like 5 years, they have a 7-8 year age gap if i remember correctly. When she sees him again she's a sophomore not a freshman, the first time they interact again he doesn't recognize her since last time he saw her she was really young, but when he knows that it's been almost a year and a half she's in the same town and she didn't go to see him he's really hurt. Oh and the drama with his debtor is really more heavy in the manhua, she's really stalking him nonstop and end up in prison for that.
So i really liked that all the heavy drama was changed and the phase of her 14 yo self shortened because that was really long in the manhua. I also liked that they changed her age to 17 when she falls in love with him it gives another feeling than a little girl crush but more of a first love.

Now onto the drama itself. The cast is wonderful, i loved every one of the actors, the actress who plays her mom played her mom in Love like a Galaxy and i hated her in it, but here she's beautiful and such a good mom. Her brother, i loved him in the manhua but here it's another level, he's awesome !
I have to say it ! I fell in love with the ML, like i fell in love with the ML of Lovely Runner two days ago. I was surprised to see that they found an actor who looks exactly like the ML is drawn in the manhua and embodies perfectly the character. I watched a lot of Zhao Lusi's dramas and i thought her couple with Yang Yang in Who rules the world was the best i've seen of her but no i was wrong, she has here sooo muuuch chemistry with the ML (i'm sorry i don't know his name). He's so charismatic when he was on screen i couldn't look away. I paused too many times to calm my heart (it's rare for me to feel that way). I was mindblown by this actor's performance here.

Now that i have finished watching it all i can wish for myself is that kind of lover to find me.

she fell first but he fell harder

This is the reason I love chinese dramas
These type of romance dramas with slow burn cute and healthy relationships are just so soothing and healing..... like this could be something you watch multiple times and never get bored, something that's just running in your background but still prominent, something that you will watch again and again jus cuz why not, something to watch when the day's been hard and all u want is to smile...
Coming to the story.... it's nothing extraordinary but it's beautiful and true.... it doesn't have a thick plot but amazing script and direction.....it won't keep you on the edge of ur seat but has something to keep you smiling throughout and being unable to stop.
The chemistry between our leads is obviously amazing and theyre both soo pretty and i especially love how rosy can go from a cute little student to a mature lady by just changing her facial expressions like that's just wow
This drama here tells the story about the first love all little girls have and the beauty of it and maybe it will all work out in the end
would totally recommend this to anyone and just keep coming back here
big thanks to all the cast and crew!!!

A sweet and heartwarming romance

This drama was so heartwarming and cute. Both leads did an incredible job and I was rooting for them from start to finish. This drama was such a lovely depiction of a healthy relationship and I loved that they weren't toxic at all. The two leads had such great chemistry and acted so well and the story kept me smiling the whole time. Watch this drama of you want to feel happy, trust me! It was so lovely and the music was a great addition and all the characters were so likeable. I loved her relationship with her brother as well and everyone was brilliant and I am so glad this drama exists! I could watch it over and over!

Pure perfection

Truly, I don't want to over-hype this show, BUT ALSO I have seen a lot of dramas and I have to say this one is one of my all-time favorites. The plot is where this drama shines, I think it focused on a lot of details other dramas pass up and didn't conform to specific plot timelines you frequently see (i.e. confession on the 8th episode, dating on the 9th episode, breakup on the 12th episode, etc.). The script wasn't too cliche and I'm not a big fan of the age gaps tropes (this one is around 4 -5 years) but, this one explained it pretty well and didn't make it incredibly unrealistic. The color grading and the cinematography were so so pretty. I loved how it kept a warm, comforting feel throughout the seasons. In a strange way (but good), the entire drama felt like it was perpetually in summer, even though we see snow and spring scenes. The soundtrack and the music selection were a great match for the show's cinematography and storyline. Stars and co-stars aced it, the acting is really good, and I loved that the side characters actually had personalities! What I would give to rewatch it for the first time, but then again it's become a comfort watch, coming from someone who doesn't usually rewatch things. Anyway, I really don't mean to over-hype it but it truly deserves all the praise it receives, my best advice to those who haven't seen it is to stop reading reviews and go into it as blindly as possible, happy watching!

GREAT CAST!!!

soooooo good, tbh never expected this from a cdrama (dont come at me). butttt this drama changed my pov about cdramas. I mean it has all that i need for a rom-com drama to be perfect.
First of all, the leads are soooo apt for their role, like I legit believe the roles they are playing. Neither is the gap too obvious nor too lenient.
Next, the supporting roles are building blocks of a great drama and when I say this is a good one I mean it. I've seen it all- american, indian. kdramas, thai, spanish- so I kind of have the good feeling.
all in all great drama highly recommended, if you are a crazy rom-com lover like me and dont want too much drama on your plate.

I don’t get it

Ok, this is my opinion..No hate on anybody

I know I’m a bit late to the party. I was strangely reluctant to first watch this drama (because I was afraid of being disappointed if it did not turn out to be as good as everybody said it was) and then I was hesitant to post my thoughts about it; mainly because I couldn’t understand why I was “not impressed”. (For some reason, I kept remembering Superman saying to Steppenwolf, “Not Impressed”).. anyhoo..

The show ticks so many boxes.. it has a perfect recipe of a perfect romance. Really good looking ML, quite pretty FL, supposedly swoon worthy romance, all the usual tropes, etc. But for me, something was missing. And I still don’t know what. May be it’s a case of it’s not the show, it’s me.

There seem to be polarized views on the kid playing young Zhao Lusi. It didn’t bother me much. Probably because I was prepared for it. And ML during that phase really treated her as an elder brother. Did not creep me out. I wasn’t a fan but I also didn’t find it gross.

I just couldn’t get the romance between ML and FL. I understand she had a crush. But it takes a lot for a crush to transform into once in lifetime kinda love. And I really didn’t get that feeling from our leads. The drama tried to sell that, but I just couldn’t buy. I don’t get why he gets attracted to her. Is it just because when she takes care of him, he suddenly sees her in a different light? If that, then I somehow don’t see it as love. It’s gratefulness at best and selfishness at worst. I don’t want to believe that he always had a specific soft spot for her (even though it is hinted.. he keeps just his and her photo from the graduation ceremony). That would feel weird because in my eyes it’d make him a creep. She was pretty young at that time. So no, I don’t want to believe that. Then I really hit a wall there… why?

It was easier for me to see how her fascination with her brother’s friend progressed to a crush. Those who have older siblings or cousins would know, how your sibling’s one friend seemed like a perfect specimen back when the puberty hit. So I get it. What I don’t get is why that progresses into this forever kind of love? Granted at such an young age, all the emotions are extra bright. But I find it difficult to accept that none of the other friends in her widening circle capture her interest? If they made her fall for him after they meet again, it might have made more sense. They could have shown how the new encounters slowly remind her why she had a crush on him, and I’d have accepted that.

I really like Zhao Lusi. She has the looks and the skills. But somehow in this drama, she appeared a bit stiff. IMO it’s on the director. Same with Chen Zheyuan. I don’t think he is a great actor but he is not bad either. He gets the job done. But here somehow he looked .. I dunno.. bored?!? Personally, I didn’t see their chemistry which is driving people nuts. But yeah they were effortlessly together. I give you that.

One thing that was like a sour note for me was in their bid to show her as an apple of her family’s eye, they treated the bro rather shabbily. Her mum-n-dad were very much about her but mostly treated the big bro like an unwanted adopted child. To be honest again it could be just me. But I hate it when in dramas, parents treat main leads’ siblings more favourably. Similarly I hate it when parents are so darn biased in favour of main leads. I dinna find it cute, I dinna find it funny. I was second hand annoyed for her bro.

The drama is polished. It looks good, OST is not bad either. I just didn’t get hooked onto it the way I expected after the reviews. My expectations were way up there. But at the end I was underwhelmed. I just couldn’t see the “wow”.

100% worth your time. You will never regret it. With their chemistry, acting between ML and FL, you will feel butterflies in your stomach every single episode you watch. The way ML looked at FL arrrrrrrrr can't stand it anymore. Hope they air all the episodes at once. I normally read the novel first and every time they made it into live-action I feel disappointed because they only emphasized looks and when they acted so cheesy and like a robot. But not in this drama, their acting is on point. Even the supporting roles are good. I repeated three times for every single episode so far while waiting for a new episode. Waiting time is killing me :)

How I wished that the girl just hid her love forever

It was a weird and intolerable sight for me. I was having such a good time watching the show during the first half but then it became draggy. It all started when the guy started to grow feelings for the young girl. I know that five years gap in a relationship is not considered a very far-away gap, but damn! Why did they not hire a young actor to portray the main male lead during his university days? They just stick to the same actor till the end in wherein it seem too hard for me to accept their romance. The guy felt like a predator who fell in love with a middle school girl.

The main girl's characteristic sticks with being childish until the end. I know that this is not their intention but I can’t help but to feel cringe at their scenes. It was a better ending if the girl ended up with someone his age or those men who tried to court her.

A disappointment from the good reviews from the majority. It wasn’t as good as it seemed to be. The punches that the main guy received from the young girl’s brother are all my feelings towards their pairing. If there’s a different concept, I guess they can win me with their chemistry. But this one is such a meh for me.
