Pure definition of rom-com!
Update: It's fascinating that this drama has such extremes of love it and hate it. I am on the Love It side....there are a few plot gaps and the supposed comedy relief of the older couple's romance is totally unnecessary to the story but otherwise, it was WAY better than Heartbeat in the same supernatural fate vein. Sure it follows the tropes, but what rom-coms don't? Consider watching Forbidden Marriage if you liked this drama too. If you're a hater, do share what you've seen lately that was better! Lately I've noticed many new Kdramas are about serial murders or viscious revenge, so this was a nice change of pace.Still holds after watching it to the end: Ok, so let's just say Rowoon as the ML rocks the looks here. And he's playing the aloof guy to the tee but not so much that you can't stand him...And FL plays her typical spunky self, so I think the casting is spot on.
Supposedly this drama is not doing well in SKorea but well internationally on NetFlix, and I am one of those international fans--it's funny and quirky. I like it better so far than King the Land since the conflict between the two leads is more than just personality differences and so far, much less cotton candy sweet than KTL, cuter than My Lovely Liar, and as for a fantasy drama, more compelling than HeartBeat or Believe In You with ridiculous slapstick comedy side characters..comparing it to rom-coms during this 2023 summer period.

One of my favourites
I was intrigued from the news of the production, because Rowoon was in it. I knew Boah would make a perfect pair because both of them had similar braincells. And I was right!! The chemistry was way beyond my expectation. I was pretty jealous of the red hand which haunts ShinYu too. No doubt there are loopholes in the storyline and editing. But I enjoyed the drama because of the leads intense chemistries. They kept us guessing the plots for sometime. Let me shout out to the leads for their acting skills. They were great and exceptional. Well done team #DestinedwithYouWas this review helpful to you?
entertaining but a little too long
the synopsis was really good so I had a lot of expectations. most of them remained unfulfilled. it's a good drama if you don't expect too much and just need something to spend your time on. I wouldn't recommend this being said. there is a lot of very good dramas out there, you can easily find something better.the story is ok, I loved the chemistry between the main leads, and also the side love story was cute. I found the 14 and 15th episodes too long and dragging some story out, they even complicated the story for no reason. it was not a successful addition in my opinion.
that was ok. it's a pity they did not exploited the story as well as they should have.
when to watch: anytime, it's a fun story.
audience: family friendly.

Wonderful Cast with Wasted Storyline
I usually approach fantasy dramas with high expectations which this drama didn’t meet but an overall okayish watch nothing spectacular and exception about the storyline.‘’ Destined with you’’ presented a mixed bag of pros and cons. A major reason for me to watch this drama was Rowoon for his striking visuals however the storyline lacked overall depths leaving audience with no interest to continue watching. Despite this setback, the drama does have some heartfelt moments of romance and suspense which served as a saving grace.
Rowoon’s visuals in the drama was such a treat to watch. The overall cast was well picked and aesthetically pleasing to watch, the acting was great and not overdone. However, the weight of the storyline was wea. The narrative lacked depth and failed to engage me as an audience. By episode 10 I felt the story completely lost track and couldn't wait to start another drama. FL has no personal character development and overall was just a spineless and confused individuals who didn't have her prioritize straight. By episode 8 the story completely loses its fantasy element and turns into a cliche love trainable and personally I feel so much could’ve been done. The romance aspect was given more importance than the fantasy element and that awful for a drama that promises us a compiling romantic fantasy.
Another notable drawback was the limited screen time of the second male lead. By episode 10 he is established as the male lead and cue to an upcoming love triangle. However prior to that not much importance was given to him so I felt so disconnected with him knowing nothing about him as an individual. This lead to lack of investment in the second male lead which affected my overall viewing experience and left a void in my narrative.
The chemistry between the leads was pleasant to watch and there were some heartfelt moments which made my heart flutter. However, it is not worth a second watch in fact I struggled to continue watching due to the weak and lengthy storyline. In conclusion it has some positive aspects but if you’re looking for a Romantic fantasy I’ll suggest investing you time on something better.

Quite a hot love story
I watched this show several times as it got better and better each time. The weird story gets clearer and turns into a sweet love story with a few hot scenes:-)The parts with the psychopath can be skipped without losing the context.
Rowoon is very strong, playing an arrogant guy who becomes funny, love sick sweet and very caring. He is very convincing in the hot scenes:-)
I would have chosen a different FL but she is actually
a good fit in this role.
All actors are great. Maybe the two colleagues are quite over, an usual element in K dramas (glad that no over-parents showed up).
You will enjoy this show!

A Spellbinding Mix of Love, Fate, and Fantasy
“Destined with You” follows the classic romcom formula, complete with the familiar K-drama tropes and setup. While it doesn’t break new ground in terms of plot, what truly sets it apart is its remarkable ensemble cast. Every actor, both lead and supporting, delivers stellar performances that make the characters feel relatable, flawed, and endearing. One of the standout features of this drama is its cinematography, which beautifully captures emotions and adds depth to the storytelling. The humor is perfectly timed, bringing a delightful balance to the heavier, mysterious undertones.
The drama starts light and fun, but as it unfolds, the tone gradually darkens, revealing deeper backstories that tie everything together. It’s the kind of show that rewards careful attention — full of subtle clues you might only catch on a rewatch.
The leads — Bo Ah and Rowoon — have amazing chemistry. Their banter, feisty exchanges, and adorable moments make the romance both heartwarming and hilarious. Rowoon, in particular, shines with his charm and delivery of those “cringe-worthy but irresistible” lines.
While the love quadrangle and a somewhat average plot might frustrate some viewers, the strong performances and emotional depth more than make up for it. The past life storyline adds intrigue and connects beautifully with the present-day romance.
The ending may feel a bit rushed — shifting from intense and eerie to suddenly warm and romantic — but it still leaves you smiling. The curse explanation and flashbacks are well-executed, adding clarity and meaning to the story.
In the end, Destined with You is a feel-good, fantasy-infused romance that blends lighthearted charm with emotional storytelling. It’s not perfect, but it’s a ride worth taking — especially for Rowoon fans.
Final Thoughts: A mix of magic, fate, and heartfelt romance that makes you laugh, swoon, and believe in love — destined or not.

Much much better than the reviews say ...
I'm thinking a lot of people were in bad moods when reviewing this series. I found it to be fantastic!!!It starts out a little creepy ... with a bloody hand that keeps appearing to crawl up Sin Yu, but later on, we completely understand it. Once we get beyond that, this really turns out to be a great story with great actors & great writing.
Bo Ah, who always shines in whatever she stars in, doesn't disappoint in this drama either. She & Ro Woon are perfect together, although you wouldn't think so at the start, but give it time.
Ha Joon also fits perfect, making a complete puzzle of an unlikely trio. When you add in a couple "evil" antagonists, and I do mean evil ... it balances out to make a perfect story. It makes you believe in past lives and how our destinies are already decided for us, whether we like it or not.
Later in the series, from episode 9 on ... What would a Korean story be without bringing in flashbacks from the Joseon Era. It works out great in explaining the entire past history of all the characters in the present time. It's extremely entertaining to watch it play out.
As you get to the final episode, I have to say, it may be one of the most satisfying finales to a series I've seen. Everything you want to see happen, it does exactly as it should. The good guys win across the board, and the bad souls that really got on your nerves since episode 1, they finally get what they deserve.
A great cast with great writing makes for great entertainment in this series!!!

Don't be quick to judge, just give it a try!
As a Rowoon fan, I'm surprised I left this show in my watchlist for so so long. For some odd reason, I was on a hiatus from k-dramas and just could not pick this show up even though I liked the premise enough to put it in my watchlist. Last night, I randomly decided to give it a shot, and boy I'm glad I did. What a ride! 24 hours later, and I've finished this in it's entirety with very few skips here and there (I'm not a fan of costume/period trope).Contrary to the majority of the views here, I actually did not find this drama to be unbearable, or the story to not fall into place. I'm still trying to think back to any major plot holes but I don't find many so I'm kinda falling short at understanding many of the reviews here. But to each it's own! Which is why I started this review with not judging until you give the show an honest unbiased try. I was lucky to have come here to read the reviews only post 6 episodes when I just needed a little spoiler on a happy or sad end. I'm not sure if I would've watched it had I seen the reviews earlier.
I like the story and what I like the most is that although it has those fluffy typical kdrama butterfly moments and some amazing chemistry between the leads, it is a refreshing take from your usual over the top sweet rom-coms. while there are other tropes like past life which are also relatively common, it was an easy watch for me personally. The leads have superb chemistry and I think the three: Hong Jo, Shin Hyu and Mr Kwon together gelled so well that it was a very pleasant watch.
I like how the second male lead was not vengeful which I why I absolutely abhor the same old trope of the vicious second female lead (if we can call her that, she was anything but a lead). But she has barely any screen-time so it's still fine. I also find the co-workers at City-Hall to be extremely rude, extra and not needed. Although a lot of redemption comes by towards the end of the show and once Ms Ma comes back, but before that I keep questioning which workplace allows such blatant infringement of privacy? These two women are just always shouting??? Who allows that? That was another aspect that was putting me off a bit.
ONE THING that has PUT ME OFF the most is the lack of respect shown to the second female lead. Even if she's a bad person, she deserved to be told that he's breaking up with her before he goes around telling another woman "he loves her" for whatever reasons those might be. This was done repeatedly, and not just under the spell trope. Even after that, this continued. I do not support such nonsense so it was a big downer which is why this show does not go into my all time fav list. Everything else was on-point for me otherwise as nothing is absolutely perfect.
However, I like how the story progresses. I also like the suspense of it in the beginning though it becomes quite predictable towards the mid of the show. But where it lacks in dramatics, the romanticism makes up for it. Lots of angst and cute moments between the leads to keep you smiling throughout. Even their banter is hilarious. I quite enjoyed it.
Although I liked Shin Hyu's parents as actors and roles, I'm pissed at how easily his mom overlooks the imprudence of the dad. That's where the feminist in me gets triggered but obviously they are not the main focus of the show so maybe something happens off the screen (other than that insufficient scene post drinking where he drunk hugs her and apologises once???) for her to forgive him! I also quite enjoyed the warm friendship between JSH and his lawyer friend and how he actually supported JSH throughout.
All in all, I quite enjoyed the show. I have a long watchlist and this is a little heavy so I'm not sure about a rewatch, but it's definitely worth one watch and I would recommend this show to people. In the end, I would just advice you to push through 2-3 episodes before deciding if this is your cup of tea or not. For me, it became better as it progressed. Cheers!
