SO GOOD
Tbh I really liked the series. I would 100% recomend it. Before I watched it I read that it was fantasy it made me not wanna see it, but Im happy I did. Cause overall I wouldn't say that there was fantasy in it. BUT YOU SHOULD REALLY WATCH IT!!!!!!It was such a good series. Cause Ive never seen it in BL series before. Its about the two main charcters Saengtai and Patts. When it rains they can hear each other but they cant hear anyone else. That means that they are soulmates cause they hear each other.
ITS WORTH WATCHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was an all-time favorite... till it wasn't. Enough holes to swallow me up.
La Pluie started out on a fast track to being an all-time favorite of mine. It started out so strong. The aesthetic and cinematography of it all caught my attention before a word was even spoken. Then we got that gorgeous monologue overtop Tai riding the bus in the rain. We're told immediately what kind of fantasy world we're getting into. A world where people believe in and even trust in soulmates - because on your 20th birthday, people with rain-affiliated hearing loss can hear another person, and only that person, so long as both of them are in rain at the same time.An interesting premise. Made all that more interesting by the fact that our main character is stubbornly refusing to acknowledge his soulmate. And that his parents are divorced, despite being soulmates themselves. It had all this set up to create a memorable message about not putting all your faith in destiny, that relationships take a lot more than love to make work. A message that they did exceedingly well throughout.
I fell in love with our 2 main leads immediately. And was giddy when ever they were on the screen together - with all the adorable awkwardness of getting to know and getting comfortable with each other. They were respectful, fun, and very cute together. They both had insecurities stemming from their pasts, as well as all the miscommunication/misunderstanding trappings that a new relationship and those insecurities are prone to. In theory, this all fit who the characters were. Tai, who learned from a young age that talking before things are resolved doesn't do anything. Who prefers to solve things on his own. Patt, who reached out for love and acceptance, and got shot down with silence instead - making him wonder if he's worthy of the love and acceptance he sought out. But when push came to shove, when it was time for the writers to deliver, it felt out-of-character. In one singular fell swoop, it undid all of the progress, development, and communication the leads had had prior.
The major support characters were also so fun. Tien was an adorkable brat and fantastic (and accurate) little brother to Tai. I wish we got more background to why he was so pettily antagonistic to Lomfon in the beginning, but by the end I was solidly sold on the Tien and Lomfon couple. They were equally as adorable as Tai x Patt when they let themselves relax, and they had the benefit of similar interests and passions to keep them talking, even when they clashed.
We even got a lesbian couple! One that felt pretty natural, even though they had very little screen time. But I am a little bit salty that the other pair of girls, who got quite a bit of screen time, did not become a couple. In fact, they gave one of them a HEA with a character we never even saw or heard about! Even if they didn't put Bow in the lesbian couple they seemed to had been hinting at, they could've ended her story in a different way that didn't feel as out-of-left-field. Even just her flirting with a coworker or thirsting after guys as usual. In a story where we literally get told that love can come in several forms, it felt artificial.
But the thing that really put a sour taste in my mouth and changed my overall view of the story isn't any of the above oversights and pacing changes. It's not even about the fact that it started feeling like a different screenwriter took over in those last few episodes. But rather the fact that we have several plot holes.
In episode 1, minute 1 of this drama, we get told how this world works:
- Certain people have a form of hearing loss where they can't hear anything when it rains (as suggested by the fact that everyone knew Tai had hearing loss already before the rain on his 20th birthday, and that he apparently never heard the sound of rain before).
- These people with hearing loss start to hear their soulmate on their first rain after turning 20 years old.
- That hearing loss is irreversible.
- That everyone is only able to hear 1 person
But suddenly, Lomfon spontaneously develops hearing loss. Spontaneously, Lomfon can hear Tai. And Patt. And Patt and Tai can hear him. No where near a birthday that we know of either. Oh, and spontaneously, you can just yell to the universe that you don't want the soulmate bond, and suddenly you won't have it anymore.
Absolutely none of this is questioned. None of this is explained. None of this is even pondered. In fact, in the last few minutes of the drama, we quite literally get told that it doesn't matter. "In the end, the hearing-loss and soulmate stuff are still questions that no one has an answer to. Rather, no one chooses to find an answer anymore." That love is all that matters.
I'm sorry. I'm all for making us and the characters question how the world works, but you don't get to just set rules for the world, break them, and expect us to be content because everyone gets a happy ending. That's not how worldbuilding and writing works.
And the fact that technically, Tien and Lomfon don't have a happy ending yet. Because, what do you know? Tien suddenly, spontaneously develops hearing loss and a soulmate bond too! And not on a birthday!
There's also a few smaller plot holes. Such as how Patt knew where to go to see Tai - when that was not Tai's usual café. And no one knew Patt was going there/went. Also, Patt apparently has had a long-time desire to resign and open up a vet clinic in rural Thailand? That definitely wasn't set up in the story. But the reason for it's existence was apparent: gotta have a good ol' ill-placed and ill-timed tourism ad for that final episode.
I love these characters. Some I loved almost immediately. Some, grew on me as their characters shown more depth in the story. And I loved that this drama didn't go the typical "villain" route, even while it did go the typical "misunderstanding" route. For probably 75% of it's runtime, this drama was a favorite. I was in a rush to get through the week to see the next episode. I scoured every corner of the internet for fanfictions and fan-edits of this story or similar premises. And I still highly recommend it. But I don't know what happened in those last few episodes. The writing went downhill along with the plot conflict's impact on the happiness of our leads. It stopped being thought out, and it shows. But can a terrific start truly make up for a lackluster ending?

I AM GOING TO MISS THIS SERIES
The story was awesome and the acting of Peerawich and Tanatorn was mind blowing. Peerawich was cute, loving and adorable. I have watched his earlier BLs, but this i guess his one of the best series. The story line of sole mate was something different from usual. The other characters also did a great job. to mention Kritsanaphong, he was such a cute character. The way he would get angry and his face expressions was a WOW.I was sad it got over fast. I guess there could have been few more episode of this series or could have the second part of it.

This was a rain on my parade
This was cute but I really didn't care for the love interest at all. I don't know if it was the character or the actor because I'm not a huge fan of Pat's acting to be honest, maybe it's a mix of both. This story is definitely more mature than some BL's in the way that it doesn't do the whole soulmate thing and more is just two people meet and start dating like it would happen in the real world. So, it was nice to watch something that was a bit different in that sense, but I just didn't care for it overall. Was this review helpful to you?
A Storm of Misunderstandings
I actually liked the concept of La Pluie, but the show is full of misunderstandings, unlikable characters, and too many flashbacks. Without the soulmate element—where they can talk to each other whenever it rains even if they’re apart—the series would feel more grounded. It does show the complexity of a relationship between two people, and I appreciated that part.I genuinely enjoyed the first half, but it went downhill afterwards. Usually, I can tolerate unlikable characters if they show growth, but here it felt like Phat was the only one truly invested. He seemed head over heels for Tai, and it came off as a bit unfair.
Characters
Beau:
I’m not a fan of Beau’s character—her behavior is over the top. It’s not the actress’s fault; it’s how the character was written or directed. Why do Thai filmmakers always create supporting characters like this? It’s not funny; it’s just annoying. They should take notes from Japanese or Korean BLs, where supporting characters are usually more grounded.
Lomfon:
For me, Lomfon is also unlikable. He interferes with Phat and Tai’s relationship because he’s interested in Tai and doesn't believe in the soulmate concept. But the moment he discovers he has the same condition, he immediately grabs the chance to tell Tai and tries to pursue him. Even if Phat and Tai weren't soulmates, the connection between them was already clear from their first encounter—before they even knew the truth.
Also, he stopped Jan from finding his brother (Tai) at the camp. That part made me think he either has no siblings or just doesn’t care about them the same way.
Tai:
At first, I liked Tai as a character, but his development went backwards. I couldn’t stand him in episodes 9 and 10 because he lied to Phat. There’s no excuse for that. No matter the reason, a lie is still a lie. After what he did, he still had the nerve to break up with Phat and Phat even ended up begging. It felt so unfair to Phat.
He also knew that Phat was jealous of Lomfon, yet he still kept seeing him. If you truly love someone and you know your partner is jealous or uncomfortable, you should avoid that person—yet Tai didn’t. For me, the closure already happened during their confrontation that night. If he really wanted to reconcile with Phat, he shouldn't have continued entertaining Lomfon at all.
Phat:
I didn’t like that he resorted to violence because it only escalated the situation. He could’ve talked things out calmly with Tai and Lomfon. But I also understand that he was going through a lot emotionally.
The only character I genuinely liked was Tai’s brother—he really stood out throughout the show.
Tai’s family issues were also overwhelming, and the constant flashbacks made it even heavier. For me, they were more of a distraction than a benefit.
Ending
The ending wasn’t what I wanted. I would’ve preferred that Phat didn’t get back together with Tai and instead found someone honest, selfless, and truly loving. It’s been two years since their breakup, yet they reconciled that quickly? It just didn’t feel convincing.
Overall
Overall, the series is okay. It has cute moments, but nothing groundbreaking. What I genuinely liked were the strong performances, great chemistry, beautiful soundtrack, and its production value.

Writing fell along with Rain
La Pluie begins with a refreshing premise — soulmates who can only hear each other when it rains. It promises emotional maturity and avoids many tired BL tropes in the beginning, with grounded pacing and real chemistry between the leads. But as the series nears the end, things start to unravel.
The emotional conflict feels forced, with key moments brushed off instead of addressed. Tai lies, avoids communication, and hurts Patt repeatedly — yet he’s never truly held accountable. His apology lacks depth, and somehow, he apologizes more sincerely to the side character than to the person he hurt the most.
The "soulmate" theme, while intriguing, ends up feeling shallow. The show leans too heavily on destiny instead of genuine emotional growth. By the finale, the story shifts from something grounded to something symbolic but empty.
✅ What worked:
Mature pacing and chemistry
Respectful intimacy and consent
Refreshing start and tone
❌ What didn’t:
Weak conflict resolution
Tai’s actions go mostly unaddressed
Overemphasis on soulmates instead of emotional accountability
Final Thoughts:
A strong start with a mid-tier finish. La Pluie had real potential, but its resolution lacked the honesty and depth it needed. Worth watching — just lower your expectations for the ending.

I really like it it was a good watch but it had so much potential to be better. Both the main ship and the side couple were actually done well when it comes to character arcs but again the only problem for me was they were going way too slow, and this is coming from a slow burn lover but the main couple it was somewhere between love at first sight and slow burn. Which wasn't the best way to write it.The way everyone deals with the ep 10 conflict was something that came out of nowhere because especially from Patts side he was lashing out in a way that he was only talking about in dialogue with the ex only once he was thinking her for dealing with his anger but I feel like instead of having his character be so completely different from what it was before they should have had him show some of this anger at Tai at some point earlier too even if it was that tiny inkling that should have exploded in ep 10 instead of just doing it out of nowhere all of it in one episode when before he was being too chill too patient like wtf
Also Tai pretty much apologized to him in the end, bruh you just saw your boyfriend kick the shit out of some guy who tried to kiss you and fine it's his fault for lying to him about meeting Fon but Patt could have chosen another way to lash out he could have broken up or something!
After that scene Patt's behavior was pretty much TOXIC and no one loves a hot red flag guy more than me but this show was actually trying to prove that Patt wasn't toxic that he was just drunk/loves Tai too much that's why he was behaving like this, that was his excuse for everything!
So even his own father was clearly telling Tai to get back with Patt like everyone else so it was a lot of normalized toxicity for a story that was supposed to be about progressive love
Despite these issues though and despite me becoming more into Tien and Fon arc after this point and I really like the way they did the soulmate ideas too but for the most part I really enjoyed it all except for the very ending for Patt and Tai but was really happy watching the two idiots Tien and Fon in the last ep was what made the last ep somewhat salvageable.
My personal issue is that love a hot rich red flag guy all you want just don't apologize for the shit you did in reaction to his toxic behavior.
Even if there was a single line towards the end from Patt or Tai that alluded to this this show would be a lot higher rated for me .

it's got really bad after episode 8
i really like how worldbuilding in first episode but after eps 8 it's confuse me. it's like the screenwriter dont give a f*ck and change the story so it will have 12 eps. if the writer just keep in track in worldbuilding in this drama i can say this series is realy promising. (spoiler alert)like what happen whit the ML can hear again, have 2 soulmate and in the end his brother have soulmate??
( i mean this story will be better if is just betwen person who dont have soulmate anda the other one have soulmate and when the other ML who have soulmate meet his soulmate he get confuse and when he chose the one is not his soulmate he can hear voice agian (this will make more sense why he can hear voice again) or me this seriens end in eps 8

Best before: the last couple of episodes
Upon re-watch of this series, I feel like I either didn't pay enough attention the first time around or blocked certain things from my memory. I remember liking it a lot (which I still do) but now I notice so many flaws that I just didn't give enough mind to at the time. The beginning of this series had so much going for it: interesting and unique plot, good acting, two main couples that I found equally intriguing and was invested in. There were legit reasons for Tai to be against the soul mate idea and the inquisitiveness of Lomfon had everyone asking the question about "destiny's choice vs our choice" based more on science. Everything felt natural and organic, as much as a supernatural theme could be.
There was even good communication between Tai and Phat from early on about their reservations and feelings that didn't take away from the relationship but instead added depth to it.
Then we get to episodes 10-12 and it all went south. All of a sudden we have Phat being unreasonable and uncharacteristically pushy while Tai couldn't have been more obscure and vague with his words. No wonder Phat got suddenly insecure. I could understand if they showed this side of him throughout the series but, even after his breakup with Nara, he was always this confident if not reserved guy. But then this came out of no where and makes him almost completely unlikable in the process.
At the very least, with the way Tai's character did a 180 turn, they showed how stupid he was being when they showed a side-by-side of his actions mirroring what his mother did when she left. He even used that as fuel to get his tush in gear to go after Phat. That was the only time the flashbacks were actually useful.
That being another odd thing I didn't remember... the use of flashbacks and re-playing of the same scenes. They weren't necessary and it just made me think the director or editors thought the audience were dumb and needed weekly refreshers. I mean, yes, I forgot details after a couple of years but when this was airing, it was week to week.. give the viewers some credit. I also figured they just needed to fill time so they put replays in.
After all that, I still really like this series and I would still recommend it. I don't know where you can find the uncut version anymore but the cut version is fine too. Not as NC-17 but their good chemistry is evident throughout so it's okay without those extended scenes.

Lost Then Regained Interest Towards the End
Ok I have a lot to say lmao. Firstly, I want to say compared to some of the other recently released Thai BL's, I think this one is one of the better ones I've seen. With that being said, this series was a good at first but I then slowly started to lose interested towards the middle and then regained interest towards the end of the series. Let me explain.Ok, so I think the plot was very original. I don't think I've seen another BL series with a similar plot. But I think about 4-6 episodes in I noticed the main characters are literally self-sabotaging to the point where it's kind of ridiculous. For example, with Lomfon and Saengtien, Lomfon continuously goes after Saengtai when quite literally everybody else in the series is telling him not to. Also, I think Saengtai also self-sabotaged because there's no way he couldn't tell Lomfon liked him. Even when Beau told him that Lomfon liked him he completely disregarded her observation. I think Phat self-sabotaged in the end because instead of listening to Dream he ran away from his problems.
Also, the lack of communication in this series is actually wild. None of the main couples in this series know how to actually communicate, from Phat and Saengtai, Lomfon and Saengthian, to the parents.
Overall, though I did find the lack of communication and the constant self-sabotaging slightly annoying, this series actually wasn't that bad and there were a lot more good scenes than bad ones.

Incredibly impressive with tiny misses
I went into this drama knowing nothing about it and expecting nothing - and I was very quickly drawn in! The acting and visuals and wardrobe hardly ever miss, and even the stock footage is gorgeous. The music is CONSTANTLY on point! The plot has a very interesting premise and I liked the way the show handled and presented its message (discussion more below). At a few moments the show loses its pacing which ends up hurting the overall vibe somewhat, but the acting really makes up for it. All in all, I wish there had either been 1-2 more episodes, or some of the drama around episode 8-9 would have been tightened up. A huge plus are the kissing scenes: always nicely sexually charged, always erotic and romantic. It gets a little spicy at times in a very tasteful way! Pee and Title are both super handsome, and Suar's character was my favorite all around. My biggest compaint: not enough scenes of Tai and Patts getting to know each other, growing closer and more comfortable. We weren't /shown/ enough of them falling in love, more so told. I think that Pee and Title have great chemistry but we just didn't get to see enough of it. And the fact that the final episode barely had any scenes of the two of them together...an abomination. It hurt my overall enjoyment of the show, they deserved better. Still, I'll be rewatching...This show is dear to me and I loved it. I'm super excited to see all the actors in other things!
