Twinkling Watermelon is absolutely the best drama of the year for me.
Main Actors—Ryeo Un (Secret Romantic Guesthouse) and Choi Hyun-Wook (Twenty five Twenty One, Weak Hero Class 1)Twinkling Watermelon Youth Music Life Romance is a great concept drama.
A hearing little boy has deaf parents and a deaf older brother. He speaks to them through sign language. When they move to another neighborhood, the boy begins to be mentored in music by a music shop owner. The boy is uniquely aware of sounds, living in his family’s deaf world and he uses his hands to communicate. The shop owner chooses to teach him the guitar. This is a perfect match, because the boy must use his hands with the guitar to speak the language of music, the same as using his hands to communicate with his family. The shop owner discovers that the little boy is a musical genius. You get these rare finds of a drama which concentrates on a unique story. Twinkling Watermelon is a concept drama about Youth, Music, Life, and Romance. This is a youth driven music drama, but it will appeal to all ages. I am totally impressed. It is a high Yes to add this drama to your drama list.
There is a huge plot redirection in the drama, Twinkling Watermelon. I am totally surprised that no one has blabbed and let the secret out. The redirection knocked me for a loop. I will have to write up a spoiler later on. This can’t stay a secret long. I am watching real-time. For bingers, I would suggest to start this drama ‘Twinkling Watermelon’ and view the 5 episodes posted already, then you can binge episodes 6-16 later. It appears that no one was given advance notice, by what I have read so far. However, some want to be the first to tell the secret. With 5 episodes posted, many won’t keep the secret long. In addition, so many others do not understand what a spoiler is. Twinkling Watermelon may tap out to be one of the best Music Life Romance Korean Dramas ever.
The boy is a coda. That means that he is the only one in the family who can hear and speak.
Quote: Music is the only legal drug.
Sign hung in the father’s restaurant: No need for words.
Cast
Choi Hyun Wook—This role is in his wheelhouse, playing a creative dare devil who falls for the rich chick. He is so good in this drama. He overwhelms his scenes. Many have touted the acting talent of Choi Hyun Wook and I am one of them. He will not disappoint you.
Ryeo Un—He gives a breakout performance, which many will be talking about.
Seol In A—She is a veteran talented Actress and once again gives a great performance.
Shin Eun-Soo—This actress is a newcomer and she is a little shinning star. Shin Eun-Soo is given a difficult role, which I will not spoil.
Is it acceptable to use the word ‘Deaf’? Yes, most of the Deaf community do not shy away from this word.

A youth drama that made me laugh, cry, and heal at the same time
I finally finished watching Twinkling Watermelon... and honestly, this drama became one of the most beautiful coming-of-age stories I’ve ever watched. It’s not just about friendship or romance, it’s about family, dreams, music, youth, regrets, and understanding the people we love more deeply.
What I loved the most about this drama;
* Story development ; The story was written so beautifully. The mix of youth, time-travel, family issues, and music felt emotional and refreshing at the same time. Every episode kept me emotionally attached, and the pacing was so good that I never felt bored while watching.
* Character development ; Every character had their own pain, dreams, and struggles. Watching them slowly grow and understand each other was honestly heartwarming. The emotional journey of Eun Gyeol especially touched me deeply. His love for music and his family felt so genuine and pure.
* Family relationship ; This drama shines the most when it comes to family emotions. The way misunderstandings, sacrifices, and unspoken love were portrayed felt incredibly realistic and emotional. Some scenes between parents and children genuinely made me cry.
* Romance ; The romance was soft, youthful, funny, and emotional at the same time. It never overshadowed the main story but instead blended naturally into the characters’ journey. The chemistry between the characters felt warm and comforting.
* Music ; One of the BEST parts of the drama. The band scenes, performances, and OSTs made every emotional moment feel even stronger. Music became the heart of the story and connected all the characters beautifully.
* Cinematography ; The warm and nostalgic visual tone matched the youthful atmosphere perfectly. Every scene looked lively, emotional, and comforting.
This drama made me laugh loudly in one episode and cry emotionally in the next. It reminded me how precious youth, family, and dreams truly are.
Twinkling Watermelon is not just a school drama...
It’s a heartfelt story about understanding love, appreciating family, chasing dreams, and healing old wounds.
Thank you to the actors, writers, director, and the whole team for creating such a meaningful and unforgettable drama.
Goodbye Eun Gyeol...
Goodbye Watermelon Sugar band...
You will stay in my heart for a very long time.

The BEST Kdrama I have watched in AGES!!!! ✨?
Before starting this kdrama I didn't know what I was getting into. I thought it would be just another drama with that clichè story of travelling back in time. And I swear I have never written review for any drama before but this drama is SOOOO GOOD I had to let people know what they're missing on if anyone hasn't watched it yet!The casting has been done perfectly. The chemistry between the cast, their acting everything just feels so natural. All the funny scenes are so beautifully done it doesn't feel forced at all. It's a whole package it'll make you laugh, make you cry, make you get excited over the bromance and make you feel the romance.
The title fits perfectly this drama will actually make you feel refreshed like after eating a watermelon 🍉
It is one of those dramas that will lighten up your mood, give you that youthful feeling. I can't wait for my eun-se and chan-ah couple to end up together but at the same time I don't want this drama to end 🥺

SO GOOD BUT confusing ending
Twinkling watermelon was a great drama in my opinion, I loved the characters, just not some of Eun Gyeol's cringe moments lol, I felt anger, love, sadness, joy and everything. The characters' friendship is very well constructed. But... I feel like something was missing at the end, I think it was extremely rushed, it would be a perfect drama But I feel like the writers sinned A LOT, but that's okay, overall rating 9.5!Was this review helpful to you?

I don’t even know where to start!First of all, this post contains spoilers, so please don’t read it if you don’t want to be spoiled! The drama is incredible
the story, the music, and the acting are all top-tier.I already knew the two main actors from their previous roles in other series, but I discovered the actresses here, and they are fantastic! I was really impressed by Cheong-a’s acting quality. It’s very difficult to play roles like this, but she did it perfectly. She managed to convey so much distress in the scenes where her mother beats her, the love scenes, and the school scenes. I think we can all agree on one thing: a huge BRAVO to her for the incredible performance she delivered in this drama!! Eun-yu was also a great discovery. I didn’t know the actress before and I was really blown away by her! Now, let’s talk about the story. It’s heavily centered around the theme of deaf and mute people. I think some viewers might feel a bit hesitant in the first episode because of this theme, but from the second episode onward, you get completely hooked, and the desire to keep watching only grows stronger. Especially when it jumps to 1995. After episode 4, I was even more eager to continue.I really loved the love story between I-chan and Se-gyeong, the reason behind the creation of the music band, the jealousy and little rivalries it caused, and all the efforts I-chan made to stop his father from pursuing Se-gyeong. I enjoyed the little “war” between the three of them. There are so many great scenes!
Then there’s the adorable moment when I-chan starts developing feelings for Cheong-a after she gives him a drawing, the fax scenes, and the horrible moments where her mother makes her life miserable. Honestly, that mother drove me crazy in every scene she plays the despicable character so well!
The moment when Eun-gyeol discovers the truth about the hell she endures at home and helps her was incredibly touching! And the ending with the accident… I was completely shocked. I never saw it coming at all! I had imagined it very differently, so it was great to be surprised. Then we get the very emotional hospital scenes with Eun-yu and Se-gyeong’s father, the double moon, the choice to leave or stay, and even more heartbreaking moments at the hospital. How could you not cry?! An incredible ending. The whole family completely changes for the better it was truly WOW!!
The OSTs are amazing too. Big bravo!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DRAMA!!!

NEVER BORING! I NEED S2
omg when i say i love this kdrama!!! the storyline was so cute, i loved the father-son relationship in the past and it was so funny and adorable. the son trying to find his mom, convince his dad, getting in trouble... it was so fun i swear. i watched a drama like this after so long bcs i usually watch thriller, suspense, mystery kdramas bcs i thought romance and stuff got cringe and predictable + repetitive but i watched this for a change and it was the best decision of my life! i loved this so much! its my comfort drama, everything was perfect. i loved the dialogues — everytime i hear viva la vida or see watermelon, im reminded of this. i want their band shirt and necklace 😭.i must say...i was so late to this kdrama bcs i thought it was overhyped at first, relased in 2023 and i watched in 2025 june and i hate how i missed on this gem for so long! the scene where cheong-ha confessed and yi-chan fainted was my favourite and also the one where she gave him the nickname. i learnt the sign language of that scene. it's so cute how he went out of his way to save her, learn sign language for her, make effort for her. i hope a find a man like him. i may be biased because choi hyunwook is my favourite actor but i loved him even more here. the character fit him so well. i loved the message, the aesthetics, the songs, the storyline and EVERYTHING about this!
the scene when he lost his hearing? i was BAWLING SO BAD!! i was so happy when eun-gyeol was able to save his dad in the scene where he got in fight and he didn't lose his hearing and i was lowkey hoping he could change the future but i cried when he lost his hearing, my heart shattered so bad. that scene never fails to make me cry 😢.
i feel like yi-chan remembered how his son came to meet him in the past when he saw the record falling down from eun-gyeol's pocket and he picked it up and it was the record of the song he made with his son when they met in past. i really hope they bring a s2 bcs i miss it so so much :(((

Great story, great screen writing, then got disappointed by the unfulfilled ending
This is the best storytelling I have ever seen in a drama. I cried 50 times out of 16eps just because of this story. But tbh the ending was disappointed. They’ve built such a good story for everyone but the ending was so rushing that I can’t feel anything left. It should be a full ep for the ending when you have 4 different main characters. They should let us know how Yi Chan moved on (not just in his telling), how Cheong Ah had been on Yi Chan side in that hard time, and how On Eun Yoo got heeled from Eun Gyeol’s family. They just did one good ending was Eun Gyeol one. We need to see all of that because by the end, all the changes in the past were to live in its present life, weren’t them ?

SEOL IN AH first love of father and his two Son's
I love this drama, i i had no problem with the ending what so wrong with being rich ML mother was born into that family and he help her reconnect with her father, and her only brother become a criminal himself, so it was common sense that she is going to get everything from her father, only thing i i was hoping was that Seol in ah did not meet older brother first ... in new version
i was hoping for one more ep of Seol in ah meeting ML parents too as her old friends now her in laws to be....
i think there music ooo ho oooo hoooo was Show me Your Panty (MY PS Partner)
Some Nitpicking
WHY does ML only recognize his own parents after knowing there names like i know actors are different but dude, they are your parents and you have seen them when you were growing up they were not born old parents..
You have girl who look like an Angel a real Angel from heaven
And you cast a demon looking man as her father who creepily stalk own daughter,
I loved the scene where Seol IN Ah did not even recognize her grandfather. ( he deserve that feeling that now his daughter doesn't even know him at all)
Our Hero (time travel try to mess his fathers first love so he can be born..
Thanks ML did not fall for mother but daughter Seol In Ah
It focus on music but in my personal opinion it was unnecessary noise..out hero hasn't meet his mother and did not even try to search for her and is focused on his father for so long
Ep 6
we found out all ML care about is his father and his mother was just a machine for giving him birth, this man knows nothing about his own mother and doesn't even recognize her...but is obsessed with father so he can be born,
I don't believe in this love story because his father would have even thought about his mother if he would not have manipulated
Ep 8 our ML BECOME INSANE AFTER he read his mothers name on but fail to recognize his mother before
Now he protect his poor mother and its like she will fall in love with her own child if he continues like that....
yi chan did not love se kyung for sure, after getting treated at hospital dude did not even once asked for her, even after he remembered she saved him...
Fake Lover Yi Chan
How did real Se Kyung know her first love can eat spicy food because she never eat with any of them before going to ABROAD.( she eat with her husband in front of her daughter )
Now he did not give a F about his father who has him inside his testicles. Will follow his mother because she is pitiful...
10/10 for first 8 episodes
8/10 for final 8 episodes
Ep 9 ML started to act like a jerk(become Great again)
Ep 12
Yi Chan dude did you forget who you love that fast ? What a fake lover....
Ep13 Lovey-dovey
ep 14 how ML forget that this Ajushi is father of Se kyung ?
ep15 - ep16 Happy 9/10
OVER-ALL NICE AND ENDING WAS FINE, people complain that why they don't remember him, because if they remember i don't think mom can explain how there second son look like there friend, and how there both son like the friest love of there father...or her daughter who look exactly like there fathers first love..

the best relationship ever
My comfort show — my absolute favorite. Everything about it is perfect: the soothing music, the story, the friendship, the soft romance, the characters, and especially Ryeoun, my favorite actor. I adore his relationship with Yi-chan; I love them so, so much.I love this drama deeply, and it holds a very special place in my heart. I’ve rewatched it nearly five times, and I could never get tired of it. I loved the male lead Han Eun-gyul and his relationship with the female lead Eun-ha. It’s honestly the best time-travel drama in the history of Korean dramas,Was this review helpful to you?
A Love So beautiful
If you are on the fence about watching this one, it's so worth it.Watch it now. Let me start by saying, I never thought that this was where it was going to lead. i watched it reluctantly because I didn't feel like watching high school drama but it was so highly rated on here rated on here, I was like there's no way it's that good. I didn't even know it was gonna be about time traveling or anything like that. I was literally expecting high school kids Drama kind of thing. And oh my gosh, what was I wrong? I absolutely loved this one. It was insane. The ride was crazy. The actors did amazing, they each made you belive the roll and just embodied it so well. The OST was killing it. The band was awesome. Everything was really, really well done. I see why everybody's loving this because it really hits you right in the family. They did such a great job with the balance of present and future, by episode 4 I knew it was a ten and couldn't out it down. You just kind of felt like you grew with them. And I really have nothing bad to say about it. oh wait, the one thing that I found was that I really wanted to know how I get met again because she was supposed to go overseas and never come back and so I don't know how they met again. also, I was gonna say that it has less romance focused than I'm used to or prefer, but the whole thing is about love itself and even the love stories that they had in there surpassed several Romcoms because you're rooting for a love that actually came true and made kids.
So this is going to my top favorite list. it outdid Lovely Runner for me. I don't even know who wrote this, but I'm literally gonna follow them and watch Everything they make. It's so good. Just wow.
