BEAUTIFULLY DRAMATIC AND FUNNY
I love the FL and ML on this show, along with everyone's acting. Great story and I enjoyed it very much. It's so empowering watching the FL be the ROBIN HOOD at night but during the day she's VERY RESPECTFULLY TIMID AND KIND MADAM.Hope you all enjoy it. This show should have a Season 2 to continue the story with the FL and ML.

A Perfect, Well Paced Show
This review will be short, I just wanted to talk about how perfect it was. While The Red Sleeve still remains as my favorite sageuk, this one was just as good.My favorite thing was the pacing. I do think it is sad kdramas now mostly have less than 16 episodes, but I think I've made peace with it considering the fact that nowadays they love adding useless issues into the plot to fill up those extra episodes. This show being a 12 episode show, left no time for that nonsense. The plot was good. All loose ends were tied. The pacing was perfect.
Romance was sprinkled here and there and I don't have any issue with the amount of romance. However if you want ALOT of romance this might not be for you. I watched this for Lee Ha Nee's Undercover hijinks and it gave what it was supposed to give.
The side characters were lovely and no episode was wasted with useless plotlines. I am mentioning this over and over because that's how grateful I am.
I recently watched The Matchmakers which has a similar setup to this show. A widow that has another life. But I loved this show much better, pacing and storywise.
perfect story. good for anyone who wants a chill sageuk that's not too intense.

Why isn't this trending yet?!
Ok im the first to make a review for this series and i love this show so much 😭 i have been waiting for this to air and was planning to watch it only after all episodes aired. But joke's on me! I can't take it anymore so i binge-watch all available episodesI love how this series is full of action/ fighting scenes and romantic comedy scenes. So far i havent seen commonly used tropes and it's a good thing! I love Lee ha nee's role here (FL). It perfectly fits her! And definitely love our cinnamon boi Lee Jong won (ML)
I love how the story slowly put the pieces together. By episode 6 you probably would have guessed already what happened in the past. But this definitely won't make you lose interest on the show .
I will suffer for now as i wait for the remaining episodes
Watch it now too so you suffer with me lol
🥺

Very good comedy
FL and ML very good acting. FL's comedy is at the highest level, her gestures and facial expressions are great. The film is very well paced. there's always something going on. The action takes place on many levels. Very good action. the hour passes very quickly. Great contemporary music. When you watch it, it seems that you are in the ancient and modern world. and to think that until 1894 aristocratic widows could not remarry. It's a film about women crossing boundaries - it was like that in the past and it's still like that today. Was this review helpful to you?
Great from beginning to end!
What a great show! I couldn't stop watching! Drama, comedy, betrayal, romance.Every character was great from the leads to every single side character. Well acted. Well scripted. Altogether amazing cast, script, sets, costumes. And with a compelling story that left you wanting to know how it would end. Only twelve episodes, but it felt like longer because it was so complete, full and well done.
Also, it is so refreshing to have a female lead that's slightly older than the usual 20-something. This actress should be commended for her wonderful portrayal of an independent woman living in a society that wouldn't let her be free.
10/10 would definitely recommend!

Cute, funny but not world altering
Disclaimer: I’ve only seen a few kdramas, so i tend to compare to cdramas.Positives: FL was a great, charismatic and scene stealing actress. She delivered a great performance and conveyed so much without overdoing it. I’m definitely a fan.
So many of the cast were fantastic, truly. The 2FL, the finance minister’s wife, grand merchant, FL’s husband, even the garrison commander’s daughter - these roles and others were all played so well! Personal favorite for me was the royal secretary/older brother of ML. Actually, no, dead husband was hilarious so he wins. The random English non sequiturs had me rolling.
The 2ML/2FL romance really worked for me and I wish we’d seen more of that. The characters were nice and the connection seemed organic, two people surprised at what they had in common and curious to learn more.
Negatives: ML was clearly too young for FL and for me it made their romantic connection a little less believable. Not sure I totally bought their chemistry - tbh I rather preferred her with her dead husband once he showed up. He matched her playfulness and disregard for rules.
Production value was a bit limited considering the FL seemed to be a star from what I learned. Sets were very limited and costumes kind of eh. Yes, I know she wore white almost the whole time but other people could have looked better.
The worst thing for me though was the music. Oh my goodness the music for this show was off the charts terrible. Awful. Lead actress should put veto rights in her contracts. Such bad music. All of it. Obviously this is just my taste.

It’s Funny
I loved this one, the storyline, the acting and the setting. it was all so fabulous.I did not care for the FIL at all as either a minister or the father. He did his job well, in making you hate him. The romance was fun and the comedy - I couldn’t stop giggling, all the way through. Set in the Joseon era, the writer did well to keep it historically correct with the widows and the way females were treared and yet was so good at bringing in the humour at apptporiate moments. Yes tgere was an age gap, Noona romance, however I have to say both Leads carried it well and there was definitely chemistry. overall, well done!!!

Unlike other Goreyo story or Joseon drama, this story does not revolve around royal families.
Unlike other Goreyo story or Joseon drama, this story does not revolve around royal families.Lee Han Hee as the widow daughter in law of a prestigious family living a double life makes the story a fun watch. Her enactment as the obedient daughter in law and the masked woman helping people in need adds multiple layer through the storyline. Actions scene portrayed in a subtle note , quirky dialogues of Yeo Hwa makes it look like you are driving a racing car and there is no signal. The scene quickly shifts, thus making audience heart flutter. You never feel like leaving. Lee Jong Won as royal inspector Park Soo Hoo is the new love of the town. He fits in the shoe of child whose identity is a challenge for himself but tries to help Yeon Hwa in helping people in need. He is confident in his skin, which makes the untold romance more soft.
It is the storyline which keeps the audience hooked at first level. The unexpected twists offered by the tale, the subtle chemistry and the background music.....its been a while Korean drama offered such an enigmatic yet poised tale.

An Un expected Finding & I loved it!
I was searching for some light, rom-com-type dramas, and unexpectedly found this drama. I didn't even know the story, but I must say I was worth the time... Every emotion was delivered perfectly by the actors, especially by the FL. She alone made the drama so engaging. She made me laugh, made me nervous, made me emotional with her tears.... Give it a try and you will love it..Was this review helpful to you?
Hugely enjoyable!
Absolutely loved it! I laughed in almost every episode, but also so enjoyed the action and double life of the excellent FL character. It felt unusual to cast a more mature actress in the role, but I thought she was brilliant.
Her maturity gave weight to the character's background, which was quite tragic.
A favourite actress, Kim Mi-kyung, plays her ascerbic, status conscious mother-in-law ~ whilst often overly harsh with Yeo-hwa, I couldn't completely dislike her. Her life wasn't easy and she had a lot to come to terms with, especially as the story unfolds..
Our ML character also had an unhappy back story, which led to him being a little different. I liked him a lot, too. LJW fit the character well, as he portrayed a vulnerable side at times, even though he was intelligent with strong convictions.
However, whilst very well played by LJW, the actor didn't really feel like the right match for the female lead actress, or vice versa.
This was not a character problem, but a casting one.
Never mind how well LJW and LHN acted in their respective roles, they just didn't gel in a romantic way, at all, in my eyes.
There wasn't that spark, especially from LHN. I thought their end scene really highlighted this, in a big way.
It would have been far better to pitch them as opposites-to-besties ~ a little flirtatious perhaps, but no actual love interest... then it would've been perfect!
Having said that, the romance aspect was relatively low key within the story in terms of physical contact, so it wasn't a huge bug bear, but I noticed.
The story really shows how unfairly women got (and get) treated; especially when it came to widowhood (or in this century, god forbid, divorce!)
The drama rides on how Cho Yeo-hwa handles her 'lot', and the actress conveyed every ounce of it with relish. I loved her!
There are shocking revelations, some very sad moments and great humour.
Excellent supporting cast and characters ~ I liked and enjoyed Su-ho's 'brother-not-brother', Park Yoon-hak, although not straight away.
The overall bad guy was loathsome and there was no level to which he wouldn't stoop.
A really great watch, that I thoroughly enjoyed, even with the mismatch.

I need to know
So there's no happily ever after for ML and FL? I'm still at ep 4 but just wanted to know if there is. I don't mind any spoiler. But I can't bring myself to watch the last episode to know that. The story is really good. The actors play their roles pretty well too BUT just don't understand why they cast an older woman for that role and thus avoiding the much cheesy story that is romance. Was this review helpful to you?
Best drama of 2024 so far
A lovely historical about a widow that seeks at night to be a badass hero and her cute, wholesome romance with the STUNNING male lead.things I loved about the drama:
-Despite having intense and maybe sad moments they don't get dragged for long, every hurdle is resolved very quickly so I am never anxious or dreading and it keeps the atmosphere of the drama lighthearted
-the comedy, it's not a comedy that will make you laugh and roll but will keep a smile on your face with the FL antics of acting like the perfect widow infront of her mother in law, when in reality she is far from it 😂
-the badass fighting scenes, they are so well done with a lot of action
- the romance, the leads have such an obvious natural chemistry between them tho they can't act on it so it's a bit of a forbidden romance and he is as I said previously stunning/ethereal/magnetic ok you get the point, right? I would risk everything to elope with him so can't blame fl for falling for him!
-every side character had its own job and were well fleshed out and entertaining to watch
What I didn't like :
-That there was no kiss scenes 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭, mind you this a no physical touch romance and I wanted a final kiss at the very least
-the drama is too short, wanted more of it!
