Stunning, Emotional, and Nearly Perfect
As is typical with shows directed by Aof, this is a masterpiece. The visuals are beautiful, the acting wonderful, and the storyline nearly perfect. I watched this as it aired and I looked forward to it every single week.Day (Sea) has recently gone blind and is suffering mentally because of this. He has fallen into a depressive episode, refusing to leave his room or even open his blinds. His mom has had to hire caretaker after caretaker because no one can seem to put up with Day and his attitude - until Mhok (Jimmy). Mhok is trying to get any job he can to earn money, which isn't too easy when you have a criminal record. Day knows his mom will hate Mhok, which is precisely why he chose him, hoping that this will stop his mom from hiring someone else. Unexpectedly, Mhok seems more committed to this job than anyone ever has, and it seems that the key to winning Day over was simply to treat him like a normal person. Slowly, feelings start to develop between the two as Mhok shows Day that life can be just as wonderful even though he's gone blind.
*Spoilers Start Here*
Up until the finale, this show was actually perfect. Not a plot point was out of place, the pacing was wonderful, and the development of the characters and their relationship was absolutely beautiful. Watching Mhok and Day learn about themselves through each other and fight to be together was absolutely wonderful. However, the only reason I couldn't give this a 10/10 was the finale. I was concerned the first time Day received the cornea transplant, and was surprisingly relieved when it didn't work. I kept thinking - this entire show is about overcoming the challenges of being blind and Day learning to accept himself and his new reality, so why would they make it so he could see again? So in the finale when Day gets a SECOND cornea transplant that works, I was a little disappointed. It felt a bit like saying "your life will get better because your disability can be healed!" which is not typically how that works. I understand the narrative they made of "giving things a second chance" and how the second cornea transplant worked into that, but it still felt a bit off to suddenly throw in Day regaining his sight in a show that otherwise focused on how he could make the most of his life and be happy and in love despite his disability. So, I can only say this show was nearly perfect. It is still a beautiful show that is 100% worth watching, though it is an emotional one. Luckily, these emotional aspects aren't the typical relationship troubles, but rather Mhok and Day as a couple working through the hardships that come their way.

A spectucular sunset of a show - vivid, warm, bursting with colour
Yeah, so this one is an absolute masterpiece.I'm a complete sucker for slow, introspective coming-of-age/love-story hybrids so it's no surprise I fell head over heels in love with this show, but even my personal bias aside this series is, objectively, a damn triumph.
The cinematography, the frankly stunning performances, the recurring narrative themes, the sets... every aspect of this show is spectacular and the creators' deep love for their craft and their attention to detail is woven into its every facet.
Besides tackling the undeniable complex topic of disability, the show explores a variety of difficult and mature themes with great care and insight. It analyses grief in its various forms, complicated familial relationships and the nature of guilt and blame, as well as loneliness and isolation.
My absolute favourite of these themes, however, is the depictions of socio-economic differences and difficulties and the impact this has on every aspect of people's lives. Ever since watching Dark Blue Kiss it's been clear to me that P'Aof has a chip on his shoulder about the class divide in general and how it relates to queerness specifically and this is incredibly apparent here as well, in the portrayal of Mhok and his relationships to the people and world around him, as well as to the concepts of masculinity, queerness, and success. It may not be a main focus of the story, but a big part of Mhok's characters development stems from him coming to terms with his experiences of going through life as a former convict, society's view of him, and how this affects his perception of himself. It is nothing short of spectacular and I deeply appreciate the inclusion of these plot lines, however minor they may be.
And the characters... my god, the characters. If it wasn't already obvious from all my fawning in the previous paragraph, I am absolutely smitten with Mhok in particular, but quite honestly there isn't really anyone in the entire cast of characters whom I don't like or whose inclusion feels unnecessary.
Further personal favourites include Phojai - who is wonderfully multifaceted and deeply human character and whose relationship with Mhok means a whole lot to me personally - and Night, who is clearly a deeply traumatised person that carries his guilt around with him like a damn yoke but tries so incredibly hard anyway. His little tortured face will probably continue to ever so slightly haunt me for the rest of my life, to be honest.
And then there's Day who, in my opinion, is a surprisingly misunderstood and contentious character. I personally do not have any sort of significant visual impairment so take my opinions on the topic with a grain of salt, but I am firmly in the camp of "the disability rep in this show is really good, actually".
If I understand correctly, the showrunners made sure to get a lot of input from blind and otherwise disabled folks in order to depict the realities of their lives accurately and respectfully and it shows. The writing is never preachy or patronising, and Day isn't simply a tragic yet inspiring figure for the audience to project onto, no. He is a well fleshed-out, three-dimensional character with believable and deeply human flaws. His story is inspiring not because or in spite of his blindness, it's inspiring because his struggles with loneliness and isolation, with anger, resentment, and the complete collapse of his self-image are deeply relatable and pretty much universally applicable.
For further insight on this topic is especially in light of the show's ending, I highly recommend having a look at the "Some thoughts on the ending" topic in the Recent Discussions section, it might help anyone still feeling conflicted help sort out their thoughts :). Beware of spoilers though, obviously.
My one gripe with the story is how rushed the last episode feels in certain respects. The conflict feels realistic and makes sense for the characters, but really, couldn't we have brought it up just a few episodes earlier instead of keeping the dreaded episode 11 curse alive? I really think that showing more of Mhok's character growth as well as him dealing with his PTSD would have made the story feel more complete and well-rounded as well as helping to keep the pacing consistent.
In all honesty though, this is a relatively minor complaint compared to how fantastic this show is as a whole and it thankfully didn't even take away too much from my enjoyment of the ending.
I think I shed real actual tears when I saw Mhok had removed the little bandage from Rung's car so on the whole things balanced out for me.
In short, this is one of the most well-written, thoughtful queer shows in recent years. It is a timeless tale about hope and the resilience of the human spirit and if that sounds a bit too pretentious then let me assure you: it is, at its heart, a simple story about falling in love. Falling in love with people, with yourself, and with the world.
Go watch it already, you won't regret it, I promise!

The most beautiful BL ever
Last Twilight was everything you want a drama to be. I loved it so much, it made me laugh, cry, kick my feet and giggle! MhokDay were both intresting characters and to see them fall in love was beautiful. JimmySea did an amazing job showing us what true love really can be and how support means so much. All I can say about MhokDay is that they were meant to be! Then we have Night and Phojai who also were very intersting to follow, especially Phojai who went through so much. The plot was brilliant, the music made me cry and the acting was on point - I think it's only fair to call this drama a masterpiece!

This is Something Special
Being one of those people who watches multiple shows that happen to air on the same day, I've had to pick and choose which to watch live and which the binge later. This one was a binger, and I'm so glad it was!
Don't get me wrong, I like a BL that's set at a university/high school/whatever and has hesitations of starting/maintaining the relationship and all that stuff, but "Last Twilight" is a whole other caliber and I REALLY hope that more of these types of BLs get made because WOW!!!!!
First off, they aren't university students at all. Ok, one of them sort of is(Day's on a break due his deteriorating sight), but we never see him in class/studying on campus or whatever. They are adults, with adult problems that adults can identify with--and not just blindness.
Right off the bat I can see that the actors and production team did their research. I knew going into this series that Sea has good eyesight, but if I didn't, I would have Googled several times to make sure, because Day actually appears blind. Every movement, every facial expression, and the way he never looks anyone in the eye the way seeing people do was a masterful performance. All Day wants is to get his sight back, even after he appears to come to terms with it, and that desire screams from every minute of Sea's performance.
Jimmy is someone I loved from "Bad Buddy", so I was ubber happy that is was one of the leads here. It's made very clear from the first minutes of the first episode that Mhok is a working adult with a rough kind of life. He's another one of those actors(along with Sea) who can portray emotions so authentically, that I was a bawling mess every time he broke down, both when his sister died while he was in jail and during the breakup. Mhok was so also caring and sweet when it came to Day, even when literally dragging him out of his room.
Jimmy and Sea need to do more work together, and not just as a couple, because they are phenomenal scene partners.
I've said this in other reviews, so pardon to repeat, but one of the cliches I don't like in BL is the bitchy girls and the girls who try to break the relationship apart--sometimes those are two different roles played by two different girls. This series none of that. Film and Namtan as Gee and Pojai are warm and supportive and a positive light on the series. I adore how Gee is so positive and accepting of Day when she sees him again, and I love that Pojai and Mhok are just friends without any underlying agenda.
It was also nice to see that it wasn't a girl in the middle, but a boy. And that boy was August, Day's former badminton partner. Here again, the series dodged cliche, and instead of making August a total douche, they made him sympathetic enough that even when he kissed Day just to make him happy, you still felt bad for him. At least, I did. I wanted to hug August when he told Mhok that he tried but really can't see Day as anything but a friend. Credit goes in no small part to Ohm, who I haven't seen since "A Boss and A Babe", who took a character who could have been a throwaway cliche who we hated to someone that I actually felt bad for(see hug comment above).
Mark was another fantastic surprise for me. I liked him in "Bad Buddy", and I liked him in "Only Friends" but this time he played a character type that I've never seen him play before and it was phenomenal! Mark and Sea look like brothers so to see them in scenes together as Night and Day was deliciously authentic. Night's guilt over Day's condition and his attempts to make it up to his brother hurt so much to watch and I couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief when they finally started talking to each other. Mark knows how to play guilt without being overt about it and he knows how to portray relief the same way. I'd like to see him play more characters like this. Also, Night and Porjai ending up together is so cute could die.
Watch this series squeal and cry and fall in love just like I did.
Also, I just ordered the Box Set, which should tell you something about just how great this series is.

It was glorious
I actually really liked this one, I enjoyed watching it, had a great time, so much fun. However, As I've seen a couple of people say, I also wish that Mhok's trauma with his sister's death, and them kinda glazing over his fears with that in the last episodes kinda made me feel bad for him, I wish he could've had a good talk with Day about that and they kinda help each other through that. But honestly other than that I have no complaints! I think the cast did amazing, this was my first JimmySea series and I hope it won't be my last! they all did great! I loved all the side couples, and I think all of their female characters were well written too!Was this review helpful to you?

Why?
So I Gotta say it was amazingThe chemistry between Mhok and Day was so good and they were so cute but for me the time skip in the last episodes were completely unnecessary! Tbh I was never a fan of time skips, I really don’t like them. Day breaking up with Mhok was very random, instead of a time skip, they should have talked it out or atleast stay In contact with each other. I can’t really like the fact that they haven’t talked for straight up 3 years. Was the job as cook really that necessary? I don’t think so, like in the end Mhok didn’t take the plane back as if it wasn’t important to keep the Job. Without the time skip I would rate this series a 100/10 but It was really random and I didn’t enjoyed it so just a 9/10.
I just talked about the bad things right now sorry, this series is still an amazing BL! All in all, the characters, acting, visuals, story(except the end lol) was full of beauty❤️❤️ I wish for another JimmySea series❤️

i'd watch any series with those two leads blindly !
I've watched vice versa before ,that's why i have decided that i'd watch this ,they're both so talented.this drama is worth watching, though some reasoning is weak , "drama logic" of the background of mohk Character but jimmy absolutely did a great job that they broke my heart at one point, burst into tears at some moments fell in love and felt happy for them and that's how you know it was a good drama when they play your emotions and change your mood
One thing is worth applauding is how mature the Character were .
felt so good to have watched it definitely recommended.

Don’t let people’s opinions on the last two episodes stop you
I avoided watching this for a long time because I had read so many negative comments about the last two episodes, which is where a lot of actual issue resolution is handled. Ahead of those two, it was a mostly straightforward plot - meaningful and beautifully executed, but still a relatively simple plot. I actually think they could have expanded this to 16 episodes to really handle the issue resolution pieces better, but it is what it is. It’s a great show. It’s a more mature theme than other BLs. Don’t let the hype on the last two episodes keep you away - they aren’t bad. Without them, they would have left some pretty large (adult) plot issues unresolved. They aren’t handled *great* as-is, but at least they weren’t ignored. Was this review helpful to you?

Extremely offensive ableist ending that completely undercut the main point of the show. I genuinely am still shocked about it months later. Everyone who was involved with the decision to cure the blindness of the main character in the 11th hour (in a show that, to varying success levels admittedly, had actually seemed to be trying to portray how full and beautiful life can be while living with a disability) should be ashamed of themselves. I am haunted every day knowing how many people watched this show excited for the representation for it to only do that in the final act. Shameful, genuinely. Wish I could rate it lower.
