You've seen bits of it before... but it's still lots of fun
You are definitely going to be getting de ja vu while watching this, I agree with some of the other reviewers - I definitely found myself drawing comparisons with Goblin, Black Knight, and some Doom at your Service. But you know what? It's still an enjoyable watch, I love the sound track and the chemistry between Kim Yoo Jung and Song Kang was excellent.
There's some threat and mystery as people keep dying around the main characters as we figure out who that is and follow that trail, meanwhile the demon is making deals and ultimately all the stories come crashing together and we realise there's nothing random about this at all.
There's one thing they didn't face off squarely though in my opinion and I suspect it was to keep the positive tone particularly in the ending, but it just rang off key for me. Black Knight faced it head on, he was immortal, she was mortal, there are implications for that and as tough as it made Black Knight to watch it finished the story. I kinda get why they didn't go down that route, but it just felt like a bit left unsaid.
Cast are all brilliant. Kim Yoo Jung is always a top star and I enjoy watching her performances, Kim Hae Sook is brilliant to watch as well, and Cha Chung Hwa's character is brilliantly done too, I especially like her cap - which has "GOOD" written on it, but one of the O's is barely visible. I mean, just in case you needed it spelled out...
The show does have one of my favourite lines though, which i'll paraphrase ;)
"People like to think I control everything, but really i'm just a companion on their journey".
I like that, it played off well in the moment too.
It does have a magic button fix-all moment, but I think it worked and was led up to numerous times prior to it happening so it didn't feel like the writer had an "i have no idea how to get out of this, i'll just magic up a solution" moment.
The little bickering bit at the end however just felt really odd. I guess the writer was trying to get a final message in but honestly it didn't hit home for me at all, and just scribbled a bit over the general positive theme.
I'd certainly recommend the watch, I've not regretted watching it in the slightest, though I don't rate it as one of the best they don't all have to be the best!

last episode thoughts
Was it just me or was the whole last episode filler and flash backs?? nothing happened until the very last fifteen minutes. also how the heck did Noh Seok Min even survive??? I was expecting him to become a demon somehow. but he falls of the tallest building I’ve ever seen and falls into the water and somehow survives?? falling from a height like that would be like hitting cement and absolutely shatter his body. he comes back for all of five minutes and is dead 😅 it would have been more completing and exciting if he had come back as a demon as well. that’s where I thought the show was going with him stealing the book and learning about demons. that all became pointless then too.Was this review helpful to you?
Fails on the Story of a Fallen Angel
Honestly, I am blur as to what the writer really wanted to showcase and highlight about the story. But at least this series is far to be near the story of Thomas John Ellis's role as Lucifer in the American blockbuster urban fantasy tv series 'Lucifer' who both tackles the life of the castaway angel. Perhaps, the writer wanted to depict another side of this demonic character. i just find the story lackluster and failed to deliver a spectacle despite those good-looking actors, captivating location and production scenes. The story simply lacks substance and spectacle of what the story of an evil creature should be depicted in order to leave an etch on the minds of the viewers.

Entertaining
Spoilers- read at your own risk.My thoughts before it aired:
I didn't know about this drama until maybe 2-4weeks before it's air date. I was really excited to watch this because of the actors who were casted as main leads. Their visuals in the poster arr awesome. I watched a few dramas of Kim Yoojung's and like 2 of Song Kang's that I didn't get to finish (not due to his acting but possibly because the stories weren't for me) so I had a rough idea on what to expect from Kim Yoojung's acting which I like.
The intro song:
This intro song has made it in to the top 10 intro songs that I'd never skip because wow.
Storyline:
The overall concept was good especially the first few episodes and the first half of the drama was really amazing. The second half of the drama was cool but I think that the story could have been filled with more awesome twists and possible new storylines could've benefited the drama for example if Do-Hee became the demon or was the original one somehow but as I'm writing this review, I think with the route that the drama went with was actually good because then that twist would've been so obvious.
That annoying side character:
There is most likely always an annoying side character trying to interfere with the main couple's relationship in most dramas but thankfully, here, she wasn't really evil but at times unlikable and selfish but was tolerable to an extent. I liked how her character developed and her story ended.
The main couple:
Cutie Pies. 💓 Awesome chemistry. Good casting. They need to be in another drama again after Song Kang returns from his military enlistment.
Favourite scene:
Trying not to spoil this but the stair case scene and how they got there was epic.
The last few episodes:
They were a little bit slow paced but that didn't really make me think 'I need to stop watching this'. Also, there were two times when Do-Hee behaved strangely for me and they were when she saw Gu-Won collecting his deal towards the last few episodes and when she 'protected' him at the end of episode 15.... I was thinking girl.... you know that he's a demon and that's what he does and also he has powers to protect himself. So, to answer this myself to give that an excuse, I thought okay let's just say it's just human instinct because she never saw him collect deals before properly and that action she did to save him was purely instinct aswell.
The last episode:
The story pretty much concluded in episode 15 or you could the beginning of episode 16 because we got our main lead back in like the firat 15 mins or so of the last episode which was great and the remainder of the episode (pretty much 90% of it) was dedicated to their happily ever after. I am glad that this was the case because usually in most other dramas we only get like 2 mins of a happy ending - 10 mins if we are lucky. There was no rush to conclude this drama on a positive note because they gave it plenty of time and that'l was awesome. One of the best things of the ending was that Gu-Won remained a demon and he actually liked being one and he didn't magically become human just to please viewers or that Do-Hee didn't become a demon somehow. They both stayed how they were and basically just loved each other. It was a bitter sweet happy ending because he'll outlive her but still finished on a positive note.
Should you watch this?
Completely your choice.
Was it a life changing drama that I will remember for years to come? (*ahem ahem Moon Lovers*)
Probably not but that's not to say that this isn't good.
My overall rating for this drama is a 10 because I genuinely enjoyed watching it and the anticipation of waiting for it weekly and omg the tiktok edits were so fun to watch.

I hope you're hungry for nothing
It's like you put every food that you ever loved into a one bowl and eat all of it at one sitting, you would think that it would taste good but no you puke at the end because mixing that amount of food is abviously gonna make you sick. This drama is like a mix of every fantasy romance drama that has ever been made so cliche, so predictable, so boring... If you're gonna make this psychopath murderer thing a big part of the storyline maybe not make it too on the nose, leave a little bit place for viewers to wonder this makes watching experience so boring beacause you can clearly figure out what's gonna happen next. Why would I wanna watch a show where I already know what's going to happen in it. No plot twist no nothing. The chemistry between the main leads was undeniable I'll give you that but I kept expecting him to turn into a real human again when he comes back, so they can finish their love story with a proper ending at least in this lifetime but no that didn't happen. I almost thought he was going to have a breakthrough or something while talking to that man he had a deal with at the subway about being a real human but no that didn't happen either

didn’t understand the hype
this was my younger sisters fav drama but idk.. i didn’t get it. this just felt like every other drama i watch—fated romance w a murder mystery underneath it. they die for each other come back alive die again and live a happily ever after. i do understand that guwon and dohee had rly good chemistry LOL guwon was hot man . and i saw some of their bts like WOW. but the plot wasn’t there for me. they did have cute scenes but not enough to make up for the plot… idk this was meh. but good!??? better than the average but still … not everything. Was this review helpful to you?

Cool premise but lost the plot
Around halfway through it becomes clear that the writers have no idea what they want to do with this show, so every two episodes is a useless conflict that creates unnecessary angst before the male lead resolves it with... plot armour? All intrigue built in the first few episodes slowly goes away as the plot becomes more and more ridiculous. All of the characters lose all of their interesting characterizations in favour of a trope-filled plot. And while I love a good trope, this show is all tropes no substance. The stakes don't feel real, and no matter how well the characters act, the writing is too bad for me to buy into the story. Was this review helpful to you?

My demon is overrated
Its not that good drama how the whole thing is hyped up. Ngl the visuals , ost and cast is good but the storyline is not that up to the mark to rewatch it once again . I dropped the drama at ep9 but till ep 16 it's a good drama to watch it for once I don't think so rewatching again is a good deal , compared to welcome to samdalri or other dramas these dramas are really better than my demon . I feel my demon is overrated . In short , it's a good drama with past life connection , thriller , romance comedy but something was missing to spice up the drama . overall it's a 5/10 for story .Was this review helpful to you?

I have a wish too . . please shorten this series by half
The premise of the show is interesting. A demon who can grant a wish to anyone in exchange for eternal damnation. We were shown a few tantalising examples to whet our appetite. It also serves to demonstrate the ML’s demonic powers. It was entertaining while it lasted. The wheel starts to fall off once the Demon gets his powers back. We are attacked by a herd of drunken unicorns. We have a whole episode of them being lovey-dovey. So sweet, my teeth are aching. Other than a couple of key scenes, it is utter meaningless fluff. This happened again and again. Sugar overload or deepest melancholia, choose your poison.
But wait! There's more. Why stop at unicorns? Let’s throw in a psycho killer, a deranged young man and a power-hungry evil mastermind. That's what I call a party! Some show can pull this off, but this drama wasn't even trying. Most of the characters are one dimensional. Many side characters are just canon fodders. There was minimal creativity. It is a smorgasbord of ideas mashed together and spread super thin.
This is not helped by plot holes, bad pacing and whiplash change of tones. We literally have filler episodes inserted into the middle of the show just to pad out the runtime. Throw in lengthy recaps and repetitive flashbacks to the 18th century and we have a lot of dead space in between the key plot developments. I can only credit this to a need to keep our leads in play for as long as possible so that the production company can capitalise on their star powers. The amount of PPL is quite egregious.
Unsurprisingly, the 2OTP is a lazy caricature. Their "romance" was a 5 sec joke that went on for 5 hours. Those seasoned actors have my deepest respect. They took one for the team.
I also feel sorry for the fans of the two leads. The potential is there. Their pairing could have been magical but there is very little spark here. The script is so heavy handed that you stop believing after awhile. They still look good together, but it feels like they are models sashaying through the glamourous sets.
Sadly, the paper-thin plot and lazy writing makes the rest of the show barely watchable. As soon as the Demon regained his powers, the tension is gone. If that is not enough, they throw in a god who can override everything. Who needs narrative logic when you have god's will. I do have to give the show props for their version of God. It is certainly an interesting take and a brave choice from a Korean perspective.
O Daemon, I beseech thou! Grant me mine wish. Pretty please?

just a mixture of every other kdrama
Well well well wasn't this a big disappointment..Looking at the cast you definitely end up expecting a great kdrama that will keep u waiting every week and have a promising story line.....needless to say this was not the case....
It started of pretty good imo but midway it just got all haywire as they started putting so many different kdrama plots all at once (which does work in some places but unfortunately not here)
As another review said it's basically a mix of all fantasy kdramas specially goblin........like for god's sake they had to copy the iconic goblin disappearing in flames?! I mean as writers maybe u cud come up with smthn different or just rather make him die like a normal person or smthn....but to copy a very very famous drama is just dumb....like did they expect nobody to notice or did they expect ppl to love it?
Also the overall plot was just like all cliche dramas.....but cliches still work if u add at least one new element......this was just tooo generalised and predictable like the past life? guwon having a connection to do hee's parents' death? a psycho sfl who's idiocy and obsession they just forget and move on? the dramatic break up in episode 14? the contract marriage? the 'i hated you but now i love u? the unexplainable change in his powers ? it's just everything that's been done so many times..... The audience obviously demands something new with everything they watch and if u cannot deliver this maybe think of doing something else that will make you stand out instead of all these cliche plotlines and a 16 episode long series....
Istg they did not fail to include every damn scene or plotline that has been done millions of times....
Personally for me and this may be for others as well.... i really was looking forward to song kang and kim yoo jung together on screen as they are such amazing famous actors.....im sorry to say but i just couldn't love song kang in this one......his acting just seemed so unconvincing....he was great in some parts but tbh his acting in the romcom parts didn't really cut it for me......that being said....the chemistry was fairly good if not the best out there.....
Personally i think there were just too many issues with the plot and the writing for me to be able to enjoy this for what it was and not look at its shortcomings.....
So if ur planning to watch this i would not suggest it unless ur a first time kdrama watcher and totally unaware of those 100s of kdramas this one's a mixture of

I started watching this drama knowing very well that is full of clichés only because I wanted to watch something light to ease my mind after stressful exam season. First 6 episodes were incredible. I actually thought we might finally get a good story even with all the clichés. They did a great job introducing the characters as they all seemed quite interesting and kept a good pace. I was invested in the story then it just went downhill .One of the reasons for that is the villain's characterization. there are a few of them and none of them ever make sense. they're just evil in a very comic and over the top way. There is no clear motivation to explain why they're trying so hard to pull Do hee down. This over the topness gets repeated a few more time when some characters somehow survive after falling down from a skyscraper ( I rolled my eyes so hard I saw my brain ) or even when they're stabbed severely.Another reason is they didn't know what they wanted to do with the story so they tried to re-create some scenes from other fantasy dramas ( goblin,9 tailed fox, gumiho etc. ). Now I don't care about cheesy over the top scenes if the story is good but that's not what happened here. It spends so much time on unnecessary characters and sub plots . Jin star, Seok hun and the gang members were useless. Bok kyu and secretary Shin were funny at first but they got boring too. All their screen time should've been given to Noh family.
another thing is there is way too many flash backs. It seems like they didn't have enough materials for 16 episodes.
I wish post ep 6 was written differently. There was so much potential.
It certainly did serve fashion ( I'm not sure if this is a really good point tho as it seemed like an extended ad for certain fashion brands at time ) and the OSTs are pretty.

Expected more but overall it was alright
The hype that came with this drama before it even aired probably didn't do this drama any favors. I was literally so excited to watch but then it ended up just being alright and just a bit disappointing, especially towards the end where I was just over it and didn't really care much for it anymore. The only thing that really saved this drama was the chemistry and visual factors of our two leads, Kim You Jung and Song Kang. Honestly too, I finished this drama about a week ago and I forgot to write my review and now, I don't even have much to say. It just wasn't very excited or memorable really. Just a drama to pass the time and to be mildly to moderately entertained I guess. Was this review helpful to you?
