PREDICTABLE , CLICHE', BUT LOVELY CHARACTERS

There are some parts I did not understand when I look at is as a whole, like for example does they made Yeon Woo travel on the future to arrange the past ? and so arrange the future ? and why did Yeon Woo did not love the Tae Ha of the past and loved the future Tae Ha knowing it was still him ! I was kinda pissed of of Yeon Woo there , I did not liked that part , If I were her, I would choose Tae Ha of the past , and what happened to the woman with blue eyes ? they did not show what happened to her at the last part ? or did I just not saw it since I honestly just run through the last episode lazily , did I just missed her ending ? I also did not quite understand why she made Yeon Woo travel on the future clearly like all she ever did was to speak words that puzzled the leads and me !! they did not even show if it was her who made Yeon Woo come back to the present ?
Many parts were predictable, the plot twist is not new , like the one who seems friends turns out to be the villain and the villain at the start turns out to be a not enemy. All I ever liked in this drama is the characters and the acting ! the story I think needs some better elaboration rather than what was shown. The chemistry of the leads is fluttery at the start but I get quiet tired of it, I was more entertained on April and Hong BIseo I hope they would have their own drama so love them !! Hong Biseo is quite charming I like him !
All in all it is good, it was funny , middle part got boring in some ways but I was able to finish it so It is not that bad it is rather light , but I will not be recommending this one

It was gojng so well...

Im usually someone who trusts reviews blindly but despite the mixed reviews i thought id give it a try. (Regardless of my rant tho i do reccomend giving this drama a try especially as it is only 12 eps long)

At first i was confused as to why there were so many negative reviews, yeah there were a few plot holes (the most frustrating was how the FL & SFL were SO nonchalant about the future like ??? That made no sense to me) but the acting was amazing and the story progression was amazing too !!

But then it started getting close to the end and i was wondering how the Joseon era ML was gonna get his redemption only for him to YES be saved BUT despite loving her all his life ... be rejected several times then left in the past!?! That made no sense to me.

Why wasnt there a modern period reincarnation of the FL that could fill the gap for example ? Why was no one wondering where the SFL dissapeared to when the FL returns?

The more i write this review the more frustrated i get but its mostly because i GENUINELY enjoyed the drama so its annoying that they could have made this a 10/10 easily but ... didnt :/

The story is almost as tight and lovely as Yeon-woo's embroidery

The heroine's adventure threads into the future, loops back to the past, to hold together and set right both history and the present. Lee Se-young shines in her role as the bold and talented Park Yeon-woo. My only qualm is that the writers could have given her more qualities/abilities that could have translated better or assisted her in her travel to "New Joseon", so she does not always seem so helpless and always have to be saved by Kang Tae-ha (she was glorious when she went back to her own timeline in ep. 11 and 12, standing up for herself, her husband, her family, and for all women in the country).

Bae In-hyuk plays two characters of the same name but manages to emulate first male lead vibes for present-day Tae-ha and lovelorn second male lead vibes for past Tae-ha, which is an impressive feat in itself.

The shift in the tone of the story is not that abrupt for me-- because the darker, more serious aspects of the plot have always been there (Tae-ha's illness, the whole Kang family conspiracy), just highlighted in the latter part of the series because they needed to be addressed. I also love the fantasy and Chun Myung's lore, and how they kept it a little mysterious without digging plot holes.

Multifaceted characters with different motives (from the seemingly benevolent grandfather, the "evil" step-mother, the "shifty" half-brother, to the seemingly dependable co-workers and most certainly loyal and badass friends), along with beautiful cinematography, and good chemistry between the two leads make "The Story of Park's Marriage Contract" a generally pleasant drama to watch.

Fun Time Travel Romance

This was a very fun drama! I enjoy time travel romances such as Live Up to Your Name and Mr. Queen, so this was a nice new drama in the same vein. The main couple's relationship development was really well done, moving from initial dislike to eventually being head over heels for each other. The secondary couple was adorable and hilarious as well! I loved Sa Wol's character. I also really liked Tae Min - I appreciated the development of his relationships with his brother and SIL.

I also liked how Tae Min's mom wasn't pigeonholed into being a complete villain and was portrayed as a three dimensional, believable character. I'm happy that things worked out for her in the end. I wasn't super happy about what happened to the grandpa since it didn't feel completely believable - it was very makjang imo.

Characters aside, I thought that the past and present life's parallel storylines were quite well done. The reveal that the grandpa was the real villain was decently built up. I also liked seeing the differences between the first and last episodes. The lady with mystical powers was a good plot device to tie things together. Finally, Yeon Woo's arrival to New Joseon was absolutely hilarious and really made the first few episodes for me! Dol Se the vacuum deserves an honorable mention for his sacrifice.

Overall, despite the large amount of chaebol infighting, I thought that this was a fantastic drama. The acting was excellent, the romance was sweet, funny, and believable, and the storyline was fun and exciting. The balance between humor and seriousness was also really well done throughout. 9 stars.

Hang on till the end..

It was a good series.. Completed in just two days..
If you are into time travel.. this series is a good one..
Try not to judge who is the villain of the Kang family at first.. wait till at least ep 10 to decide..
It has some clichés and you might feel dropping it during episode 4 or 5 but I suggest you to wait till the end.
It has some twists and turn and the second ml and fl couple will win you heart.
It is cold ml X warm fl
The fl is an embroiderer you will see a lot of them through the series but mostly butterfly.
The last episode will bring some tears but it is a happy ending.
My only complain is about how the fl treated the Joseon Tae Ha. She treated him to coldly. He loved her so much and she knew that he will die soon so she should have showed him some affection

from Rom-Com to Rom-Bomb!

With a strong start, this drama made old tropes fresh and grabbed my attention right away. It was "crack-tastic," catching my attention and hitting all the right notes. The leads were adorable, there was romance, there was humor, there was time travel and suddenly the hour was over. It was a rollicking good time with a nod to Legend of the Blue Sea and a contract marriage to rival none. And the costumes--oh, my!--were gorgeous.

However, after the midpoint, episodes started to drag, characters were redundant and the plotline suffered from fatigue and a lack of creativity. This drama simply lost its way leaving a path of plot-holes and unexplained motives. The shards from the plot bombs were scattered about. The only thing that held it together were a few feel-good romantic scenes with the lead couples and the stunning, hanbok-inspired dresses.

There was so much potential with the time-travel aspect. It was fun and believable, then it wasn't. There was a crazy crime plot, complete with gangsters and a chaebol-infested struggle to control the family owned company.

So why did I hang on until the end? The performance of the leads and their romance. Adjust your lens for an uneven watch, interspersed with beautifully done (and redeeming) romantic scenes and some memorable laughs.

Good chemistry, plot holes, unsatisfying ending

Positives points :
- What I love the most about this drama is the chemistry, dynamic and relationship of the leads. I continued mostly for that.
- I love the comedy and the friendship
- the cinematography is beautiful
- the second couple, they are fun to watch

Negatives points :
- the plot was promising, but in the end not that good for me and boring for some eps or moments. I actually wasn’t that hooked after the first 2 eps. But some thing still surprised me, I actually didn’t see it coming that his grandpa was a bad guy.
- Could stand ML’s brother for most of the drama. For me, he was a creep, weird guy for many eps. His comments or reactions regarding FL and mostly his liking for her made me uncomfortable and that was weird.
- the plot holes, feel like things weren’t explained or didn’t make sense
- how the time travel plot is written
- the ending is surely the part that made my rating go down a little. Didn’t like it. Waste of time, why made her stay in the past for the entire ep. It was just sad moments and uninteresting for me since she didn’t want to have a relationship with past him, she loves present ML. I found it weird people wanting her to stay in the past, have a relationship with past him. I just wanted more moments and a good ending in the present. She could have gone back sooner, like 20-30 min before than end so we can have a good and satisfying ending. We also didn’t see her reuniting with her best friend. But no, they went with the 1-2 min reunion. I’ve seen that annoying ending enough in Cdramas. First time I see an ending like this for a kdrama, expect my Dearest ending maybe. For me an ending like this seems like just wanting to dump a « HE » for the viewers. Also, the whole thing with the 2 Tae Ha and the kinda love triangle was weird. Plus, I agree with some comments that they could have made her appear in the pool and recreate the first ep.
Yeah, they added like 2 more minutes at the very end with the wedding. Cute, but still not satisfying. I would have like better to see more of them living happily for like 20 min or with kids or what happens with her career than seeing a wedding again.

Overall for the romance, it’s a good watch, so I would recommend even if I didn’t like it that much. I was expecting something better before starting.

Is The Story of Park’s Marriage a time travel or a time slip Korean drama? I love this drama.

The Story of Park’s Marriage

The Story

The Story of Park’s Marriage begins in the later Joseon era. A complicated aristocratic young woman wants to be a fashion designer, an occupation shun for Aristocrats. Her parents arrange a marriage with another Aristocrat who has an undiscovered heart condition, which can take his life at any moment, especially if he is excited by love. She falls for him immediately, but he dies on their wedding night (action which takes place in the first episode, so this is not a spoiler). Through happenstance and a convenient body of water, the female lead finds herself time traveling to modern Korea. She is immediately confronted by her lost love, who is a Deputy CEO of a company. While this story may seem pretty bleak, her experiences and reactions to the modern world of “New Joseon” Korean is wholly hilarious and gives constant fodder for laughter, as she tries desperately to reclaim her lost love.

The Story of Park’s Marriage is well written. It is one of the most intricate meshing of what happened in the past with what is happening in the present. Like a top designer’s intricate threading of a garment, the scenes of the past are so tightly woven with the scenes of the present. The Story of Park’s Marriage is a bold mystery sewn into a RomCom. The story is a time travel Korean Drama, since there is a definite mode of time travel (a body of water). In time slips one accidentally travels through time by unknown means.

I really like The Story of Park’s Marriage. This drama gets better and better with each episode. At first, I thought that this drama would be an uncomplicated drama that would score in the high 8/10, but now for me, it is scoring 10/10. As dramatic actors are challenging themselves with RomComs of late, this is the first RomCom I have seen with Baeksang Arts Award winning dramatic actress Lee Se-young (The Red Sleeve and The Crown Clown). While actor Bae In-hyuk has played in RomComs like My Roommate Is a Gumiho, Bae In-hyuk (At a Distance, Spring Is Green and Why Her?) has been in challenging dramatic dramas as well. Bae In-hyuk is indeed a late bloomer in the acting business. His first Korean drama was only in 2019. Bae In-hyuk also has turned into a fine actor. And I must admit that the way he wears a suit is so reminiscent of Lee Jun Ho in King, The Land.

Chinese equivalent to The Story of Park’s Marriage is Miss Crow and Mr Lizard, because of the fact that falling in love could cause the death of the male lead who has a heart condition.

Not one of Lee Se Young's finest historical dramas.

As usual another common and tropey K-drama love story where FL has only eyes for the ML wrapped up as a historical. The ML BTW is a supposed reincarnation of her past husband, who was turn into a hapless 2nd ML in the end by some tasteless and tacky writer. Can these zero talent and unimaginative writers for once have a decency to not write this tired 2nd ML trope in at least one drama. I only finished about halfway and stopped watching and took a peek at the ending. I don't plan to take this up again.

Why this drama deserves a 10 on 10?

First of all, 2023 was a year of time- travelling dramas. But, historical time-travelling dramas are always on the top. This kind of genre never disappoints us. This drama too, meets with our expectations.
Lee Se Young and Bae In Hyuk, both of them are amazing actors. They sucessfully portraited their roles. But I am more amazed by their visuals. They’re such fine looking actors. I was always a fan of Lee Se Young. But I wasn’t sure about Bae In Hyuk's. And he clarified my confusion about him. I was hoping for this drama to be around of 16 episodes. But, no problem. Yet, I was satisfied,

Now, to the next part, that is the plot and story of this drama. The story is a lot different than other kind of time-travelling historical dramas. It is mixed with thriller, supernatural, comedy, melo and romance. Jack of all trades- in a word. Most of the people was hoping more and was not satisfied with the ending. But, I will say that it was a happy ending, those who understood, knows better. I cried at the last episode. I will not spoil anymore. Go and watch the drama, if you're curious.

Music and Ost's were good too. Also, I was massively satisfied about their fashion ramping concept and those dresses. The whole drama gave me a genuine vibe. The supporting actors made the drama more interesting. They acted really well.

I will watch this drama again, for sure. Without any doubt, I am also hoping for season 2. Let' s just hope that the directors will give this drama an another season.

In conclusion, the beautiful and cheerful casts, the fabulous storyline, the Ost's of this drama will not let you to waste your time. So, watch the drama and be happy.
Happy watching.

One of the best dramas of 2023! Watch it, please!

This whole show from top to bottom broke my heart, made me smile and laugh, made me soooooo upset, and made me wish there was 4 more episodes. Lee Se Young and Bae In Hyuk acted their hearts out and had beautiful chemistry, with a natural build up. Even with the parts that move slower and makes you want to pull your hair out because you wish the characters could speak up sooner or make another decision, it is more than worth the watch. You'll find yourself watching episodes just because you don't want it to be over yet. The side characters stories were good as well, I can't forgive some of them but their endings were well deserved and well ended as well. Congrats to them. One of my fav 2023 shows.
