don’t waste your time

don’t waste your time on this for it shitty ending.

It started well for me, but the plot went down hill at some point, the last 6 eps were disappointing.

The good :
- the acting was decent
- the music
- the third couple (who was not seen a lot) was cute, pretty good communications, healthy relationship. they solved their problems pretty fast
- I think all 3 couples have good chemistry
- some scenes impacted me emotionally, like ep 18 with the second couple or just scene related to first and second couple, I was almost crying
- I like the eps when the leads were with the kid
- the friendship
- this is a good and bad point, but I appreciate at first using mental illness of ML as a plot for problems/breakup, that felt real to some aspect and not like some cdrama where are think the breakup is pretty stupid or the use of a third party is annoying
- at some level, I liked the second couple, I loved their chemistry, but I don’t think their story was well written
- I enjoyed the romance between the leads (expect the last part of the drama)

the bad :
- dragging second couple getting together
- dragging the problems between the leads
- became somehow boring at some point, 36 eps was too much
- the worst ending possible that literally ruins everything. Doesn’t make any sense, rushed, nothing explained. FL is 100% hallucinating him, sad ending. And this is just nonsense. be clear damn it!! if he is dead, explain it, be clear about it. Why end with such horrible nonsense ending. Feel incomplete. Poor FL too, I hate it.

unfortunately pretty much a failure

I went in this with not much expectation with that kind of plot and it ended being worst than expected.

So, let starts with some positive points before my rant :
- I actually like a lot the costumes and styling
- acting was okay
- music was okay
- not really good, but still a happy ending
- the friendship between the ladies and the guys
- side couple : this romance was pretty good, I liked the flow of it, but not enough scenes in my opinion. they sometimes disappeared for episodes and they were some of the only interesting parts. How it started as arranged marriage, but affection, trust and love gradually came
- I like ML’s mom relationship with him and FL

so now the rant :
- SML and « Love triangle » : what a pain to watch and it lasted for more than 30 eps. SML was the literal third wheel and the leech that you can’t get ride off. he was the kind guy, but why did he had so many screentime and always appearing. At time, I was like finally a scene with the leads, but didn’t last long before he appeared. Don’t get the people who wanted FL to end up with him, she never liked him, she rejected him and he still wanted to try ? and he wasn’t minding his business. Him confronting ML and that like deal they made, so weird. ML accepting that was weird too. But no wonder some liked him better, he had a lot of screentime with FL and they made so little importance on the leads for a while. I was happy when he said to his aunt that it was a misunderstanding (the edict for marriage) and that he wanted to annul it, but the next scene of him talking to FL, after she said it wasn’t possible with ML, he started talking about her giving him a chance, etc… (I honestly fast-forwarded, don’t know what happened after). Can’t believe this guy🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. even if ML didn’t existed, she wouldn’t like you. when she had no memories, she wasn’t attracted to him or feeling, it was only friendship. he didn’t had much to the story at all, his only purpose was what, helping FL ? Something he did to help could have been done by someone else, like saving ML in prison, in the end the dad acted.
- The amnesia lasted way too long, more than 30 eps. And after that, the leads broke up and it was just annoying. I can understand a bit FL, but she was still annoying. I thought after knowing she wasn’t his sister the story would progress more, but not really
- way too long, this didn’t need to be 40 eps. Boring and not interesting for most of the drama. Feel like nothing was happening, filler and boring side plot to the detriment of the relationship between the leads that wasn’t well written and not enough scenes or whatever. They were playing brother and sister for too long and not enough build up for a good romance, just like The Rise of Ning in which the romance was disappointing. Should have cut out that whole love triangle with ML’s mom or the third couple who in the end gave nothing interesting. It was only kinda weird that whole thing with his mother, they even edited out their kissing scene. and some side plot along the way and SML. Feel like maybe not enough focus on the case of ML's mentor or FL's family massacrer in general
- feel like they could have had good chemistry, but it couldn’t shine brightly. Kissing scenes were okay at best. they got back together end of ep 37. so they were together for max 5 eps ? I skipped some parts, don’t remember but dating era was short lived before the breakup. they had some few scenes that succeeded at making me smiles and that weren’t too bad. Another drama marked as romance that has almost no romance
- the last few eps with the revenge, the prince trying to take the throne, etc… were nothing exciting
- Poor choices from the director. I read scenes between the leads were cut and even the side couple. Saw a picture with their son, we never saw that. Just like in the last episode. FL « the bride » is here to snatch ML, but they edited it out??? ML is talking to that guy and next is them in the bridal chamber after the wedding that was never shown. What a big disappointment. And then, they talk and she’s like someone is missing, your sister. That was unnecessary dialogue

the leads character were okay to me. Never really disliked the ML like some comments I saw.

this drama is one of the worst drama I watched this year. This is not a drama to binge watch, watching it while it was airing everyday and watching at 2x made it more watchable

anyway, don’t watch this if you are a romance lover and you plan to watch this for the romance

the thriller part and revenge wasn’t much better

another drama that felt short in the last part for me

so let’s talk with the good :
1) Acting, I think the leads were great and side characters too
2) costumes and makeup were pretty
3) I didn’t wanna start because I thought: « oh a story about brocade, it will be boring », well not gonna lie, like almost every drama, there are some more boring parts, but I actually like the brocade plot. it was different from the usual shop we see in some Cdramas and interesting to learn about brocade history. So the premise was interesting and well written in general, I think it was flowing good, FL working, growing their business, the obstacles, etc..
4) I liked the friendship and how they all worked together
5) OST was very good
6) cinematography was also good
7) I like seeing the development between ML and his father, family. Made me smile their interactions in the last ep (always bickering with father ahah) and he even called her « mother ». I enjoy it when I think they deserved forgiveness and a second chance. And he actually made some efforts. I think his father and family deserved it (not like some characters in other drama, like cough cough The rise of Ning). even FL with his stepmom.
8) FL brother: he grow on me. At first I was like, what a weakling. But he stepped up, stood his ground and he surprised me. Like when the mom was in prison, bro wasn’t giving up, I liked that. A supportive and kind guy too
9) ML : I liked him a lot. Like many, I love red flag ML, but I also like green flag ML😂 well if he is the ML (and not a useless stupid weakling) I will love him. Always team ML and SML hater. He was kind, supportive, respectful. Always there for FL, but never overstepping. Pretty intelligent and resourceful. He was a great ML. Also, such a great fighter, always finds this attractive ahaha it was awesome eps 23-24 when he was running back and fighting to get to FL. Zheng Ye Cheng is great with fighting scenes, he should do more dramas as a martial artist and actions. also in ep 36, the fighting in that like arena or in the last ep, last fight.
10) FL : intelligent, kind and hardworking woman. I liked how she was working so hard to continu her father’s work and the brocade business. It was good when she was turning the plans of the uncle against him, it was always satisfying. Used her intelligence for example to changed the family rules and can we say the deal in the last few eps ? Or went she wasn’t trusting Bai at first and keeping some distance, didn’t accepted (before the wedding in ep 24) the help of Bai or the ex. Some choices were a bit questionable or stupid, but anyway I think it fits her character…
11) the romance in the first 3/4 : I think the development was really good. Mature romance ?them slowly working together, trusting each other and falling in love. We could feel their love for each other with the little moments. Then came ep 24, I think the scene of him crashing the wedding was really good and I liked the dialogue. Even before that, when the ex captured her, he came to save her and I think that scene was also very good. We didn’t get much, but their married life was cute. We got 1 kiss only, but it wasn’t bad. The cliff scenes and some others after the divorce, some good emotional moments and we could still feel their love. They loved each other a lot and were both ready to die for each other.
12) villains : we’ll get back to it, but it was somehow interesting to have strong villains who were winning sometimes before their loss of course ahah
13) happy ending. we’ll get back to it also

so what went wrong for me :
1) the 2 side guys with unrequited love and possessiveness became so annoying and never ending
2) the last part when FL went into Bai country: didn’t like it and why did it last for so long ? We already didn’t get a lot of FL and ML dating, but their screentime together was so reduced in the last 8 eps? we got more of FL and SML together, it’s like they were almost trying to romanticize that? because what was the point of all that screentime together. I didn’t give a damn. If only they didn’t went for the same old cliche plot, the bad guy falling in love with FL and wanting to possess her… Truly uninspiring and uninteresting. What could have been an interesting villain (and he was actually pretty powerful too), felt flat.
3) There was some sloppy weird editing
4) Some characters died to easily.
5) Ning girl wasn’t really interesting to get that screentime, just like the ex, who could have had way less screentime (at last got some character development)
6) stupid unnecessary death. why did they killed off the female friend? such waste, they had the brother confess and being rejected for a while. they got together really late, we got almost nothing and then they kills her off for no reason ? even ML’s friend… WHY DO THEY ALWAYS KILLS OFF ML FRIEND OR RIGHT HAND MAN???? in so many dramas
7) FL crying and mourning for Prince Bai (the guy who literally, kidnapped her and her friends, threatened them, hurt and tried to kill the man she loves, tried to literally assault her….), was just completely stupid and weird to me (I got a bit the ick). I don’t care if she sympathizes or something, just no. And they wasted screentime on this, we could have gotten more minutes for sweet moments between the leads. I don’t get it, what was the point, I read not of this was in the novel and he didn’t even died. Why did they make him die protecting FL and her crying for him? writers trying to glorify second leads or something sometimes (like the princess Royal or even the rise of Ning, in there too they made him die by « saving » FL)
8) happy ending, but I didn’t really feel anything. Also, after all that, months of separation, we got a smile ? not a hug or anything. That was disappointing, even the « wedding » (because we didn’t saw the wedding again), gave me nothing. FL title was something I guess. And the villain died, deserved death.

Anyway, it was still a good watch for the positive points

was mostly a 10/10, but sigh….

was mostly a 10/10, but sigh the plot went downhill after ep 30. I’ll separate my reviews in parts I think

1) first off, in general
- I think the coloring, scenery and cinematography was good and beautiful
- I loved the costume and I really like the hairstyle on FL
- I loved the music
- everyone’s acting was good
- CGi was good to me and fighting scenes too

2) eps 1-29 :

I was hooked at their first encounter. I liked their fighting scene too
Cold ML, that will fall hard and soften, more bubbly flirty FL. Totally my type.
The development and the interactions between the leads was very good to me. How she was following him, flirting with him, him wanting to go way. Them slowly falling for each other. I think their chemistry was very good, their dynamic was also perfect

When ML fell, he fell hard. He would do anything for her.
- After she was imprisoned in that cold prison and they wanted to kill her, hated her. He defended her, went against the other, claiming she was one of Snow city people (one of his people). She was ready to die for him, but no he was gonna save her at all cost. And he did, he took out the demoniac power in her and make her gain spiritual power back. Even the people in snow city, accepted her back
- I have to say, I really loved ML smile and how he looked at her❤️
- She hurt him many times (even if it was intentional or she wasn’t herself). He was never mad at her, he never gave up on her, he knew she wasn’t like that. After she forgot all emotions, he did everything to get her emotions back. It was a bit reversed here it was funny, now it was her who wanted to go away and him not letting her go. Even without her emotions, her heart didn’t forget him, that was good how she had some heartache because of him.
- when she died, that made me so emotional. When he was climbing the stairs, I honestly started crying. He loved her so bad, was ready to do everything to get her back. And then, he sacrificed himself for her, I also cried here. Even the divine dude cry, that was something
FL too, she was ready to die for him and how she literally died for him, giving him the talisman from SMl because she wanted him to live… another heartbreaking moment

In general, their love story really touched me. How much they loved each other, how much they wanted to protect and do anything for each other, even sacrificing their life for each other. I was really feeling their love for each other. They also understood each other. She understood his duty and how important it was for him to protect the world. She wanted to continu protecting the world for him after he died. That episode when Sang Qi when to get her in snow city, he went back to save the village instead of saving FL right away. She understood. Like him, knew what she wanted

At the beginning I liked the friendship with SML even if later on I hated this guy… No one can make me like him

Bao was so cute, I loved every interaction with FL

Never really dislike the SFL and I liked the development and how they formed a friendship. We didn’t get much, but I like the little love story with Fu Lang

I think the story was flowing nicely and well writing, I think the plot was engaging for the most part, maybe a bit more slow in snow city, but still enjoyed it.
There was really good other parts to me, like :
- How they went with FL being the caos pearl, that episode where they revealed this and the flashbacks, I really loved that episode, think it was well written
- the time travel was well done
- how it was ML all along, when we saw it was him that went back in the past to meet FL when she was a kid and he was her ge ge all along. How it was actually her who saved his life too in the past
- Sang Qi : I liked his story later on, I truly felt bad for him when we learned what happened. the betrayal and the misunderstanding… a tragic love story. She ended her life because she thought he was dead and didn’t wanna be forced to marry someone else. When he learned she never betrayed him… Then he sacrificed himself for FL, he was like a father to her even if he did hurt her more than once, can’t deny that. I liked this ending for him
- Fu Lang parents : I liked how they showed a bit their story and spend some screentime on them. They were bickering and all that, but in the end, truly loved each other. Their last few moments make me emotional and cry a bit, another tragic love story…
- the other couple in the forest : that was seriously such a depressing story. Her, reliving the same day forever ? him, her shadow accompanying her all the time, but never being able to see each other. How she never knew he actually loved her. A misunderstanding from the past that will not be solve… how they introduced the the dude and how you can go there and make a wish, how it all link to later on when he went there to save FL.

3) ZM and pearl (past life)

That was definitely too long…

There was some cute moments between the leads, but don’t think it was well written to really feel their story. Screentime wasted on more useless things too

Interesting how ZM personality was

I like the little time on second couple, tragic end. How they were also like fated and meet again/fell in love in their second life. How what they wished for the other came true.

Probably exaggerating😅😅 but too much importance on FL and SML story that I honestly didn’t give a damn about, could have cut some moments of that. I’m the last 10 eps, felt more like FL and SML story than FL and ML

Only thing that I think was somehow interesting in this was how everything was fake, the fake memories regarding ZM actions in the book of fate and in ZM + everyone memories. Also FL going over there and crashing out killing all of them after ZM imprisonment was cool😎 and then giving like f**k you to SML was satisfying

Will finish the last arc another day, the most disappointing part of the drama…

4) last arc in the present + ending :
Weeks later ahaha should I finally finish this review 😂 what did I even wanted to say, gonna go in general, it’s far in my mind

They changed the sypnosis, wish it was this one since the beginning, it was misleading… it was something like « she uses the power of love to blah blah blah… after ML comes back as the demon Lord » this is not what happened. This was something that really disappointed me : they really separated past and present. Mu Xuan Ling and Pearl never became one, just like both version of ML (even if maybe they did at the very end…). I thought this would be about both of them like merge, being both and loving both of the other lead version. But no, after XXC died and his soul got back to ZM, she was like he his dead, etc… I thought she would go to the demon world to help him, fight for him because in the end he is still XXC and both of the version her 2 self loved, but that never happened. Don’t know if I am being clear😂😂 I was excited about demon ML, but that was disappointing in the end. Didn’t like how they went with the plot in the last few episodes and the sparks and love for the romance between the leads I was loving was mostly gone

SML was still annoying as hell. When she saved him by giving him half her power🙄🙄 I know why she did it, but just no girl. He’s still the one who did all that in the past and literally caused your death and the death of the person you love. it’s also like she could somehow recognized/accept him as NXY and TMS, but not XXC and ZM? Why again making the SML have some kind of hero dead, rolling my eyes… Cdramas writers have been doing this lately when the SML doesn’t deserve it.

Classic annoying 5 min happy ending that gives nothing. Honestly when she said « who are you » (I think that’s what she said, it’s been a while), I rolled my eyes again, it shouldn’t matter, but showing again how they really separate the characters. This could have been at the middle of the episode, I can agree it was still a beautiful scene under the tree and the come back to the tree blossoming and then could have giving us an aftermath… like them living happily, a wedding, I don’t know anything!!!!! Most writers have 0 imagination and don’t wanna give what watchers actually want

Pretty forgettable story

Season 1 was just okay to me, this was mostly the same.

Positive point :
1) Good Chemistry between the leads. For the very minimum romance we got too, it was good
2) The friendship
3) They spend a lot (like an entire episode) for the ending an conclusion, which is a very good point
4) Acting : very good acting from everyone. I want to personally praise our second leads who did very good in my opinion. I've seen many times Miles (in some romantic modern mostly) and it was surprising seeing him in this role, I think he nailed it. The actress playing the princess too.
5) Strong FL till the end, it was good how she was going against her ex husband. I have never seen a character suffer more than Mu Dan
6) Costume were still fine. Well except maybe the armours towards the end, honestly don’t think it looked good
7) The ost is pretty good

Now some rant :
1) Too much cliché and misunderstandings, feel like they just wanted to drag them getting together...
2) Not enough romance to me (well I should say dating era, we have had some romance still the beginning), but that's just my personal taste.
3) The end of the villains was a let down to me
4) I know it's a female centric drama, but I wanted to see our ML shine in the last battle... but that didn't happen. Actually, the whole last battle was somehow disappointing. Mu Dan had to come help and in the end, they mostly won because SML turned on the Prince, so that was a let down to me... I was expecting better
5) we could have got pregnant Mu Dan or kids

It had some good moments, good cast, costume, cinematography, but considering S1 et S2, that was a pretty average drama, I wasn't much into it. I couldn't have binge watch this

This drama could have been 40 eps max, there was no need for 2 parts and more than 50 eps.

JoongDunk chemistry never disappoints

Yes this was not perfect and the hidden agenda was not a big deal at all, I expected more. But I enjoyed this. It was a simple BL and I absolutely love JoongDunk, so I had to finish this. As always they look so good together with overflowing chemistry.

They improved a lot and the kissing scene were so much better than in star in my mind.

It was interesting the issues that were addressed with like the relationship with their families, the pressure…

I also like the second couple, wish we had seen more of them.

Don’t know why add this stupid problems in the last episode, Zo annoyed me here. Joke is such a good boyfriend, I didn’t like how Zo treated him sometimes. Also, it would have been interesting to explore more Joke story about his relationship with his family.

For me, it’s not as bad as people are saying it is, you don’t always need a big or complicated plot.

No misunderstanding and strong till the end

So, the story was nothing extraordinary. Revenge plot and nothing exceptionnal or new. I found it decent, I wasn't really bored. Mind to say, I have different standart and rating for mini drama vs normal lenght drama. Also, when I compare, I compare with other mini drama. For me 2 different world😂 of course short drama are not the same bugdet, quality, name it,...

But, what I liked to most about this is the relationship between the leads. Them working together till the ends after they started. No misunderstanding or problems between them. Slowly trusting, helping and sharing with each other. I liked that. Also, both were there for each other, ML supporting and saving her a few times. They found each other, FL definitely suffered more, but both suffered and their family trash (well again FL is definitely worst, that mom was horrible and money hungry, felt so bad for FL). That scene in the last ep, when she got the call from the police and she said "I have no mother", I was like go girl. I loved that scene when they both severed things with their family and met. We could say they are both alone. The nephew wasn't bad but anyway

Chemistry was not bad to me, we got 2 good kiss too.

Acting was decent.

FL getting back with that annoying girl was satisfying at time

The beginning, the memorial and what they did with the ashes of the brother, that was horrible

The revenge could have been better and more satisfying for sure... but sister going kinda crazy, loosing her baby and everything. The mom in prison. At the same time, with the plot they made the evidences destroyed/lost so, it was still something I guess

Nephew was annoying at time, like bro she doesn’t want you.

Anyway, for a mini drama, I think it wasn't bad

Beautiful and emotional journey

This was one of my most awaited drama, I couldn’t wait to see this pairing again.

What I liked :
- Cinematography
- acting was great, both leads were phenomenal, but also side characters did good
- music
- actions scenes. exemple ep 18 was heartbreaking, but very well done.
- costumes, hairstyles, makeup
- friendship
1) ML and Kang Ju : I absolutely love Kang Ju, one of my fav character. their bond was very strong. They went through so much together and have been together for years, I love this duo. Poor Kang Ju couldn’t save him…. His reaction to ML poison and wanted to save him broke my heart
2) the girl’s friendship at clear mind
3) not sure how I feel about FL and Cui friendship, feel like I didn’t really feel it after everything that happened and it happened pretty late in the story. At some point I was like, a thing to bound about, both lost their men….
4) the trio : FL, ML and SML. it was fun to watched them and the development between ML and SML. how they eventually became friends, their bickering and how they helped each other
5) we cannot forget the the late ones from the convoy. I loved their friendship and their moments together. Their deaths marked a tournament in the story and it was pretty sad.
- The love triangle was so well done and it’s how it should be : very minimal and rejected relatively early. he accepted it, no obsession or annoyances to get in the way or to get her. He was a friend to both FL and ML, helped them alone the way. His present created some funny jaelousy moments. He was a bit annoying at first, but he came to understand their situation and was they went through, their way of thinking. I don’t even think this should be called a love triangle. this is a very good/positive point for me, I’m tired of obsess/delulu/crazy/annoying SML
- the pace of the plot was pretty good and the story in general was interesting and well written
- the first half was more interesting to me, but I like seeing FL’s journey, I know the drama is about her.
- the story was different. It contained hard scenes to watch and emotional scenes that kept us attentive
- I actually did not dislike second couple, in the end I came to like them and they had chemistry. They liked each other for real and it was too late. I cried a bit when he died, the acting was good and I felt it. It was heartbreaking to me, how he wanted to protect her and everything. I had to look away when he was impaled and when through it because he had to save her. And after that how she didn’t to leave him, I would have wanted her to respond to him when he asked if she loved him for real. I felt so bad for her after that. when she was in her room and like saying she finally got the shop, but she’s alone, she just wants her family back. both had trash family that were using and treating them bad, they deserved better and also I would say a happy ending. in the end, they just wanted to escape and be together
- to finish this, let’s about the leads : strong, intelligent, beautiful, capable, kind, we can go on and on. both suffered so much and were perfect for each other. they understood each other suffering, they went through similar things. very mature and heartwarming relationship. their chemistry was very strong. such good moments and romantic scenes we got, even if romance was not the main focus, even if I wished it was. Seeing their relationship progress was beautiful, seeing them slowly falling in love. they loved each other so much, my heart broke for them, they so much deserved a happy ending, they deserved better. I cried a lot during ep 40

So now :
- personally, the misunderstanding lasted too long.
- got somehow less interesting with the business part a little, but still enjoyable. Every 40 eps drama have some boring moments in my opinion, so I’m not deducing my rating because of this, I didn’t for other dramas.
- I wasn’t satisfied with the revenge/ clearing the family name at all. Actually there was no revenge, we saw almost nothing and it was all cleared by the law, which is not satisfying to me
- didn’t like the ending. A sad ending is already bad to me (but can be well done I guess sometimes, but didn’t like it here). but an ending that doesn’t feel complete, like we didn’t got closure, is worst to me. didn’t like his choice and how it was left to him leaving and dying off screen. Even the last scene and the thing about business, didn’t care much to be honest even if the drama is about FL’s journey. I’m not satisfied with the ending, it’s feels a bit like I wasted time when the ending is not satisfying. I don’t know why the writers do this ? (it was the same in KMLM). the characters have suffered for years and everything, but they don’t even get an happy ending? If they absolutely wanted him to die, I think maybe it could have been written otherwise. like it was also misleading some people saying that in interviews she said or hinted (I don’t remember) that it’s happy ending. I remember reading about this in the comments at some point. I shouldn’t have paid attention to that ahaha my mistake
I’m saying nonsense here ahaha (I just finished, I cried, I’m tired), but both FL and SFL lost their men, like what is it, to bloom and be successful she should be alone with no men. Anyway, now I don’t even wanna watch the next dramas of Liu Yu Jing that are in my watch list…. And one of them I have been waiting for so long. The novel has a happy ending, but I have trust issues now with Cdramas, they actually change HE in SE sometimes and many writers don’t know how to write good endings. actually just like Allen Ren, they have so many sad ending dramas, that I don’t even wanna watch anymore.

Hopefully next year, we get more happy and satisfying ending. don’t know how to rate, I can’t give 10/10 because I’m not satisfied with the ending/last ep. I would say between 9-9,5 should be my rating. I would absolutely recommend, but be prepared for the heartbreak at the end.

what a disappointment

We can never have our expectations too high for a short drama, but at first I thought this could be interesting

But same old plot and cliché
Stupid and annoying FL misunderstanding ML (some of this could have been avoided if ML had talked to her and explain, I acknowledge that). Believing and being manipulated by the SML. she was annoying from almost beginning to end. Stupid choices too. Annoying sister. The plot just turned out very annoying to me and not enough romance ? . Maybe if I haven’t watched other similar short drama, maybe I could have enjoy more

too bad, the leads actually look so good together and I think they have chemistry

the fact that ML wasn’t a red flag here too

Keept watching and following the drama only for ML actor.

I think the acting was okay and I loved the ost. not ML is always a + 😂😂😂
happy ending too I guess ? but why always these kind of ending ? ML dying, not explanation or something. time jump, ML is totally fine and they dump the happy ending

don’t watch this for the romance

Don’t watch this for the romance, you’ll be disappointed

So this started pretty good, it was funny and entertaining. I was enjoying the friendship. It became more serious and I liked some of the actions that was happening. Like the episode she learned he was the prince, I liked that scene

Acting was good, especially Jung Gun Joo. he nailed the « villain » going delulu kinda crazy really well, was impressed by his acting.

I liked Seol Mae Hwa a lot and Go Su Ra was a good one

villains were somehow interesting

Romance :

Not really any chemistry. The romance wasn’t written well, no proper and enough scenes for me to feel this romance. The kissing scenes were really bad, which is not helping. Some scenes were good to me, like the scene by the lac(river? Anyway not important😅) with the fireflies or the episode they were playing guess, trying the rooms, when they were applying the mask. But in a hole, the romance wasn’t giving.

16 eps was too much, it dragged at some point. just like ML finding out she’s a women, that was ridiculous. Took forever, as always, they needed SML to know early while ML looking stupid can’t figured it out💀💀💀 and find pretty late. They dragged this for no reason and it became so nonsense after all these hints and he couldn’t see it, that was annoying, took more than 10 eps.

The ending, I don’t know, I was expecting the cousin to have the throne and I think he deserves it (it was rightfully his anyway and that was the only way to make FL and ML end up together), but in general the ending was disappointing for some reasons. Happy ending I guess, the horrible kiss again at the end could have been cut out… at least all friends again, that was a good point.

A good drama with a touch of annoying characters and boring moments, but with perfect ending

finally finished this drama after a few weeks. I have many things to say about it, I think this will be long.

Let's start with the positive points :
1) The leads have amazing chemistry, good kissing scenes and many sweet moments. This pairing is perfect.
2) ML character was great in many ways (he wasn't perfect, but in general I like his character) and good acting from Xu Kai. He's a strong ML and has good fighting skills. He's respected by many and a great leader. I like a strong and intelligent ML.
3) The romance starts early and it's a main focus. The interactions and bickering from the leads were good most of the time.
4) Love the second couple (Er and Peach). Their moments and interactions started early too. They are cute and I like both characters. Their romance is sweet without problems or misunderstanding. Wish we could have seen them with a child at the end
5) The friendship is good and I enjoyed seeing that. The bandits, Bao, General Pei, etc ... I consider them good characters.
6) In my opinion Sun Jing is a good villain. He is still an intelligent and strong character + not the annoying type. The part of the plot fighting him was good for me.
7) I like Consort Xiao (the former Crown Princess) character. She's a strong women, a good person and I felt her story. She made contributions and sacrifices to help take back the throne. She feel in love in the enemy, but that didn't stop her to do the right thing and help ML. She was unhappy has the crown princess, but she found happiness at the end in seclusion and with her son.
8) General Han (to one who protected the crown grand son, don't know if I say his name right) was also a good character. Love his loyalty and how he protected him till the end. Glad he survived and still teach him.
9) Cui Yi (FL's father) is bad ass when he fights and was also an interesting character. Glad he overcame his illness and can teach the future emperor. But I would have like to see him again for the ending, even if he was briefly mention.
10) The scenery and cinematography is beautiful.
11) The fighting scenes are really good and interesting to watch
12) Ep 30 is pick and amazing : the fighting, the deaths, the emotions. It is truly heartbreaking and good cinema. It was so sad to see ML watch his friends dies without being able to save them and Bao :( He protected him until his last breath, I lost it when he placed himself in front of ML to shield him, receiving arrow after arrow...
13) The ending was one of the best thing about this drama for me. Not an open or annoying 2 mins happy ending. We have a whole episode for the ending. That is exactly the ending I wanted : Him ruling until the crown grand son is old enough to rule and after that, doing what he always wanted to do, going back to the border. Then they live happy ever after with their kids and with Peach + Er also there. It was such a sweet ending seeing them with their kids and it was cute that the boys were wearing blue clothes and the girls red. I was also touch with the graves scene and them remembering their fallen friends. It is a satisfying ending : we see him ascending the throne as emperor, the world at peace, the Gu family getting what they deserved, her getting pregnant, her giving birth and then seeing their lives a few years lather at the border.
14) The costumes are great
15) The music is really good, just like the intro and the ost. I loved watching the intro every episode.
16) The plot in general is good

Now the negative points or things that I liked less about this drama (some is just me complaining ahah not really bad things) :
1) There are a few annoying and unlikable characters (maybe too much for my liking, made the drama less enjoyable), let's go thorough some of them :
- Liu Cheng Feng is one of the worst and most annoying character ever. He obsession with FL and his delusion ruined the drama for me a little. His presence was annoying from beginning to end, it took him so long to finally die. He wasn't a good villain for me, just an annoying character, just looking at his face I wanted to skipped. He shouldn't've have been there till so late in the drama, his presence was unnecessary since also we have other villains.
- Mrs Gu (prime minister Gu's daughter) : that girl also annoyed me from her first appearance to her last. I agree that she was kinda good at scheming and she made her way to the palace + at first she wasn't unnecessary, but she needed to be gone sooner. Just her talking was irritating me and her face also. I was also just annoy that ML wasn't clear earlier towards her (even if it was so satisfying when he finally did). Why did he let her go to his place and giving him gifts. He was to polite at first. I truly hate obsess second lead and this drama has 2... so for me that was a let down also because they were there until almost the end and no development (like the guy in ''A journey to love'' had at least a developments and let go of his obsessions, so it's more bearable). They were both crazy till the end.
- The emperor (ML's father) : what a useless, spineless, stupid, weak and annoying emperor. It was so frustrating. But at least in the end he finally admits that his not a good emperor and not a good father. But he didn't deserved that kind of redemption arc. His wife (the empress) had at least a bit of brain cells
- ML's brothers : they were annoying, but at least they were trying to scheme and the conflicts between the 3 brothers gave us some amazing eps and fighting scenes. So I gave them that. The older one was so stupid... And the emperor defending them... But the power struggle was necessary for the story, so not that much a negative point here.
2) After the deaths of the bothers and the fight of ep 30-31, the villains were boring and not interesting. The plot was just dragging, the last fighting scene wasn't that good and didn't have a big impact for me. It was useless to had the conflict with the other people (forget the name, but the clan that killed FL's mother) and even Mr. Gu to an instinct. I couldn't care less.
3) Filler episodes with boring or annoying moments to extend to 40 eps. The ones after the wedding in ep 34 for example with the leads in conflicts AGAIN was just annoying to me. FL got on my nerves in eps 35-36. From eps 33-39, I was mostly on my phone the hole time, my interest was gone and I just wanted it to end. I was at the end almost just watching 1 ep a day just to make some progress. This morning I was like today is the day, I'll finish this drama ahaha I had 3 eps left.
4) We were suppose to have a strong and intelligent FL, but she wasn't all that and annoying sometimes. I expected more, maybe I'm biased because I was watching ''A Journey to love'' at the same time and in that drama that's more of a good, strong FL for me. She kept getting kidnap and ML saved her often. When in ep 37-38 SML kidnapped her, I was like, not again... She was stupid there. I also think she wasn't that likeable sometimes, but I agree that she had her moments. Don't know why, I'm also a women, but I feel like the FLs characters are sometimes written annoying, weak or stupid in dramas, more than MLs. It wasn't actually bad here at all, she was still consider strong and had her mind, but it's a tendency I'm realizing now. I often tend to get annoy by a FL and not a ML when I watch a drama, maybe I haven't watched many dramas with the annoying kind of ML yet ahah (I know there are many out there) or maybe I did see some, but nothing comes to my mind right now.
5) I was a bit annoyed with some aspects of the relationship between the leads. Them being in conflicts, they make up, in conflicts again, than make up, ... blah blah blah, happened a few times. It was a part of their relationship and sometimes justified, but maybe they could have had it happen less.
6) I know ML is filial, but he's father treated him like shit all his life, but he was still trying to be a good son, saving him and even kinda getting along with him in ep 40. That man is trash. deserved nothing from ML.
7) ML was stubborn when he didn't want to be the crown when he was the obvious and best choice, but I didn't like how FL was trying to force him. Even less when he was finally crown prince and she didn't want to marry him and make sacrifice for him. Like girl what and she's suppose to be intelligent. Did she really not think that they would have to disbanded the Cui army if she becomes crown princess ? ML already knew it was a strong possibility. And after they got married she was mad at him for the disbanded of her family's army and what happened to her father. ML did is best to defend them and it wasn't his fault, I don't think it was justified to treat him like that. ML also exaggerated by breaking up with her after the letter her father send to the emperor. They both have faults and flaws.... I know they can't be perfect and all of that is part of the plot, but still

So, because it wasn't that good or even interesting past ep 30, filler episodes or some boring moments, the annoying characters and with comparing with others dramas I rated, I stopped my rating at 8.5/10. In general it still a good drama and has many positive points, so of course I would recommend. Also, it's my opinion, I can get annoyed by characters or bored easily, so my negative points are mostly bad things just for me.

If we talk about 2023 chinese dramas that are not modern drama, Wonderland of Love has one of the best ending in my opinion.

Okay to me, nothing more

So, this drama was my most awaited 2025 modern cdrama and it didn’t quite live up to my expectations.

What I liked :
- this was mostly a light watch without much angst
- beautiful happy ending
- I think the leads had chemistry. The kissing scenes weren’t that good to me
- I liked FL’s relationship with her parents
- I think the medicine thing and ML’s work was somehow interesting, learned new things.
- the ex boyfriend was not present much
- liked the grandpa
- both had like some trauma and pain (her with the ex boyfriend and him with his dad, even mom story), we saw both backstory and they help heal each other pain
- acting was good

So, I don’t know but I found this pretty boring at time and I had a hard time keeping my focus and not going on my cellphone.

Second couple was not really interesting. We didn’t have enough scenes or development for me to get attached and enjoy them. Just felt like characters only there for FL and not to have their own story. Most of their scenes was with FL as friends and coworkers. I know it’s friends to lovers, so not much development, but still didn’t found them appealing unfortunately, so losses points with this.

ML’s dad character development… that’s that I guess, not really surprised

light romantic tone, not much angst and good ending. Not interesting second couple. this drama was pretty boring to me, so I give it 7-7,5

well found it overrated

so what I liked :
- the friendship
- the acting was good
- beautiful setting, cinematography
- the costumes are great
- romance was still cute, the chemistry was there
- the characters are interesting I guess
- very minimal love triangle, almost nothing, which is good
- mostly centered on the leads
- I like the scene with ML and his hairband and demon moments. I was here for ML, I just like this actor and he’s very handsome to me. FL is a good actress.

but I don’t know :
- this was mostly boring to me. first few eps were interesting, we were setting the plot and the characters, but I was mostly bored from almost eps 8 to 20. I was watching at 1,5x and not always paying attention. I dislike eps 17-20. (i don’t remember exactly, but the eps she was under the bracelet). Got a bit more I interesting after ep 20 for a few eps. last few eps were okay i guess, but i was still not that into it
- the romance wasn’t really giving to me, even if we got some cute moments
- a bit too childish to me
- second couple wasn’t really interesting, but the scene were he was controlled and we learned that he was actually dead, I think that was good and interesting, I was actually sad when he was dying
- classic unsatisfying ending, but I was expecting it. Classic meeting for 2 sec, we don’t see both of them, they don’t even have a conversation. I don’t think I can consider HE, it’s definitely more an OE to me. like they don’t know each other in the real world, (he knows her from childhood, but at the same time, they don’t know each other, she doesn’t know him personally, she knows he is an author) so it’s like meeting for real and getting to be together, she wasn’t interacting with the real him in the dream. Well or maybe he was and I misted something, but I don’t think so. but the backstory with the book was interesting

So, do I recommend, maybe it okay to pass time

The leads acting and chemistry carried this

I’ve been waiting for this for months, but was left disappointed.

I was expecting something different from the trailer and the first 3 eps, but I wasn’t that bothered, I actually liked the build up and romance between the leads.
I think it was a good thing FL knew early it wasn’t ML who killed them.

The good :
- costumes
- cinematography
- the fighting scene were well done
- some romantic scene were well done (and the romance made me smile) and some scene in particular I really liked (like before the village, the scene in the snow)
- we could feel the love (I think I felt more ML love…), very strong love
- the leads chemistry and good kissing scenes
- I think the acting of the leads was great
- I liked ML’s sidekick, why did he have to die :(
- I liked the eps in the village
- at least they gave us a wedding…
- the ost

the bad :
- seriously, the plot in SML country / FL “marrying” SML was just completely uninteresting to me. didn’t want to watch any of that. Boring at some aspect and nothing or no one interesting over there. it really dragged after ep 24. And why the hell did it take almost 8 eps for the leads to get back together????
- SML was a shitty written character, ad nothing going on expect obsessing and delulu regarding FL for most of the drama. He was completely uninteresting and pretty annoying. His love for FL made no sense, obsessed after one short meet 10 ago. Just like his sister who was annoying at time (and didn’t know when to mind her business), but she didn’t deserved to die, she was still a good person. I wasn’t that disgusted by the “romance” for her and the emperor. Like why not ahah being alone without doing you know, all of her married life… why not enjoy it💀💀😂anyway that was the least problem here
- actually, the plot when down hill after CP was defeated. At first I was like, we need more eps because I was enjoying it, but no, it needed less eps.
- SFL and CP romance : well not gonna lie, they looked good together and I could feel some chemistry. but like, I still don’t feel the shift and don’t make sense. She had feelings for years for ML and I don’t get how and went she fell so hard for CP, maybe because she rejected him so many times… with some scenes we could actually feel maybe some development towards him, but I don’t know. Also, wasn’t interesting in this pairing or their character… like most of the viewers, but I think the acting was okay and I didn’t skip them. Still don’t know how I feel about his dead, that was such an easy and peaceful death that wasn’t deserved at all…. I think this was a miss, SFL could have been an interesting character
- kinda stupid and mad that they could have saved her no ? but no stupidity and they lost the flower…. All these eps for her to get cured and she didn’t in the end…

anyway I’m tired, but in general I’m disappointed in the writing of the drama and the writing of side characters. The ending was disappointing, after so many years of pain and suffering they endured… this is the ending? I know ML messed up and he poison her first, but like what is this? he suffered for 10 years and now he suffers alone in regret for the rest of his life. I don’t like sad ending and I almost never watch sad ending (if it’s sad ending and I’m watching, it’s because it was ongoing, I never start when I know it’s sad ending or open ending, feel like such a waste of time). The only one actually finished is “A journey to love”, we all know how it ends :((( but I still rated it pretty high

I don’t understand cdrama writers. Why change the ending? We’ve seen it a few times, novel have a clear happy ending and they change it for a sad ending or weird open ending. Just why ? Seriously annoying. Have you ever the opposite, sad ending turn happy ending, I didn’t.

I wish I never started this, I’ve been disappointed a few times with Youku dramas

chemistry was chemistying but

it wasn’t that good

The good :
- we can’t deny the great chemistry between our main characters
- amazing and hot kissing scenes, it was already not bad in Love in the air, but they improved. I was like « that’s a kiss » while watching
- the cinematography, the episodes on the island and the beach, pretty cinematography. I enjoyed the setting and the episodes on the island in general too.
- I loved the relationship between Mut and Meena, I enjoyed their scenes together a lot. That child actress was really good.
- I liked Mut’s character a lot. He turned out to be a green flag. He treated him well, cooked for him, etc… I liked how he was patient and understandable with Rak, at the end, I understood that he left, there is a limit in my opinion of waiting and being treated like that. Must have been hard, he loves Rak very much and he doesn’t want to accept yet that he loves him amd the things he said to him. He wasn’t giving up, even when Rak wanted to breakup with him because of the thing with his dad, He fought for him
- Vi and Muk, they annoyed me at first, but not later on. And I liked the friendship and their care for Mut and Rak
- the return on the island for the last episode
- Happy ending I guess
- the acting was good
- to see Rak’s journey to healing from his past trauma
- the ending for the dad. That was very satisfying Mut beating him up

I wouldn’t say bad, but maybe the less good :
- I was quite bored with the plot a few times and I started skipping or putting it at like 1,5x
- Rak’s character annoyed me at time. I don’t even know how to describe it, how he was acting, a bit baby ?? He know he had trauma, but it started to annoy me (feel like it was very similar to Love in the air).
- The conflict and Rak’s reaction in the last ep that lead to Mut leaving. Like how ? after everything Mut did and there is no denying that he loves him. I know again… the past trauma, but I think it wasn’t that needed. and then the last ep was so long... But at least we got to see Rak do some efforts, finally accepts that he loves Mut and wants to be with him, that was satisfying him working to get Mut back. Even if the last ep is the ep that I skipped the most parts, I just wanted it to be over
- At some level, the thing with the dad was a bit much and not very interesting plot.
- The GL couple, didn’t like them at first, but they became a bit more interesting. but their story wasn’t enough and I don’t think it was executed very well, some part were missing to me for the development of their relationship. Also in the last ep, we like got nothing….

Anyway, an okay watch to pass time and enjoy great chemistry
