Overhyped and Disappointing

Going into this, there had already been clips all over social media and people were super excited about the drama, but personally it was a flop. Park Min Young has a tendency to choose manhwa adaptations which is fine but they all kinda feel the same. This drama in particular was quite click baity. If you go off of just the clips, you would think that it's fast paced and exciting but it is the complete opposite. The background and flashbacks took forever to complete. There wasn't a particular OST that stood out. In general, everything was kinda meh.

The FL (who is supposed to be the protagonist) makes quite a few false promises to the audience that she's going to chage her fate but it always somehow ends up being ML who saves her. FL becomes quite boring at one point and ML was the only thing making me continue the drama. Unfortunately, he also gets kinda boring towards the end. Not to mention the weird pacing at the end with the random ex-fiance arc.

The actors were great but I did notice there was a tendency to overexaggerate emotions or expressions. I think it might have been due to the fact that this did originate from a manhwa, but I felt that it could have been less cartoonish/comical. There were moments where either FL or SuMin went kyaaaa and I lost it. Honestly, the only character I found half believable was actually Park Min Hwan and the mom.

Second Chances

Park Min Young once again brings her A-game along with a very strong cast. This drama is technically a Revenge drama but it's so much more nuanced than that.

The female lead is killed by her husband and then wakes up in 2013 and realises she has the opportunity to live the time again and do things differently. The drama has a really interesting take on "fate" - where other dramas might note that you can't shake your fate, in this drama the female lead realises that while you can't shake it - you can try and shift it to other people and in that escape it. From there, a very clever game of manipulation starts to take place moving all the pawns around to try and shift her fate and make a better life.

I really enjoyed the plot, i've kinda binge watched it over a couple of days because I was hooked, I wouldn't say it's a complex plot - there's plenty there but you're not going to get a headache trying to keep up. It's technically time travel, but again, this is very understandable and watchable without a physics degree :)

Park Min Young is always excellent, paired with Na In Woo, who frankly towers over her. His character starts out dull and lifeless but just as Park Min Young's character undergoes a transformation so does Na In Woo - though he does struggle to set aside the plastic personality a bit, it definitely improves.

Standouts for me in the cast other than the leads were Song Ha Yoon who plays the utterly unhinged best friend, once you've watched this - go and contrast her performance towards the start of the drama with who she is towards the end, really talented actor.

Lee Yi Kyung is always a favourite to watch but where normally he's doing comedic stuff this is really quite nasty and a very different side. Done well. I was still expecting him to yell "CAJA!!!" and run off though... (hopefully you'll get the reference).

Last one - Choi Gyu Ri - incredibly bubbly character and just brought a lot of light and fun to scenes she was in.

Music was excellent throughout, frequently found myself banging the arms on my chair with the rhythm of some of the upbeat songs it has, but there's a nice range in the OST.

Overall, well worth the watch!

Really great drama!

This drama was amazing. Had me hooked from the first episode. The actors played their part really well, especially the ones who played the villains. There weren't any episode that's boring. I usually skip through episodes when I'm watching dramas but this drama had me on the edge. I needed to see every detail and event that was to take place.

Music was also wonderful! Loved that they had that episode with BTS music💜
All the other songs played in the show was really great. I literally saved all already.

How April 12, 2023 is completely different now.

So, the writer of this review is a person who has a lot of free time, who has read both webnovel and webtoon, so I would like to say that despite knowing every part and twist, it has not bored me at any point. I can say that this was a very good adaptation of the webnovel.

The things I want to highlight about the drama-
1. DIRECTION AND SCRIPT WRITING:
+These two things are the main pillars of any series. As the novel has 188 chapters but the writer has covered it very well in 16 episodes.
+And the director's direction is commendable in the behind the scene, he is so clear about his vision that this scene will be like this or that...

2.CASTING:
+Starting with Kang Jiwon, Park Minyoung gave her 100% to the character, She played both sides, On one side a helpless woman and on the other side you can see a woman who can fight back till the end you can see her character growing till the end. You can say this is her comeback series.

+Now Yoo Jihyuk, if you watched 2D1N then you would know that both Na In Woo and Yoo Ji Hyuk are very different from each other, the way he maintained a plain face was quite nice. And his heavy voice adds a different charm to Yoo Ji Hyuk's character.

+Park Minhwan, till now many people knew him as Gwenchana but not anymore, now Merry Me is also in the race, Joke's aside but Lee Yi Kyung has played Minhwan very well, especially in Episode 14, In the series he played both funny and scary sides and portrayed them very well

+Jeong Sumin, you could say this series couldn't exist without her, if you hate her it means she played her role as an actor perfectly, Song Hae Yoon the way she perfectly portrayed the manipulative, ignorant, obsessive, jealous and crazy sides of Sumin through the entire drama truly deserves an award.

+Whenever Yoo Hee Yeon appeared on screen, she brought a different vibe. It felt as if Choi Gyuri was living the character.

+Baek Eun Ho, even though he got less screen time, he did not disappoint, even though the screen time was less, the chemistry between Choi Gyu Ri and Lee Gi Kwang was very good, one who talks a lot and the other who listen her, they portrayed it very well.

+Yang Joo Ran And Lee Suk Joon Both are the mature character in the drama, and done it very well. Mr. Lee nagging made his character a little different and enjoyable, or should i say Ms. Yang changed him...

+And finally, Our precious gem Kim Kyung Wook, his parts makes the shot perfect. You will get angry at this character, but as much as this character makes you angry, it also makes you laugh and sometimes even feel pity for him. But no matter what you say, he was the only person who is always there for Sumin.
=All the supporting actors did a great job but I can't highlight them too much otherwise there are chances of a lot of spoilers.

3.SOUND DESIGN AND MUSIC:
+The sound design of the drama is very good which enhances the intensity of the scene, And the 5 soundtrack makes the drama beautiful...

4.NEGATIVE POINT:
+ Sometimes it feels like everything is happening a little hurriedly.
+Several still cuts were released but later that parts cut from the drama.

In the end I would like to say that this show will keep you engaged from the beginning, Yes sometimes you might feel that why makers are diverting to new characters there is no point but everything happens for a reason, And the ending has been executed very well, which is very rare to be in the revenge drama.

JIWON AND JIHYUK BOTH LOST THEIR FIRST CHANCE BUT LIFE GAVE THEM ANOTHER CHANCE AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER, AND BECAME EACHOTHERS SOLID LAND.......

This series joined my favorites list!

Wow! Now this is a high quality drama, with a perfect beginning, development and ending! "MARRY MY HUSBAND" is a charming and engaging series... I believe it is one of the best Korean productions ever seen. Well-crafted plot, cast, soundtrack, performances and FORMIDABLE characters! The narrative is so good that it encourages us to watch the next episodes. I believe it enchanted not only fans of romantic dramas, but also specialized critics... DEAR, THE OSCAR IS YOURS! 🏆🥇😍 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Oh! I couldn't forget her.: All my admiration and a round of applause for actress Park Min-young, not only for her formidable performances, but for having TWO, yes, two perfect wedding ceremonies, with TWO fabulous actors (the first with Park Seo-joon in "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim?" and the second with Na In-woo in "Marry My Husband".

Idk

Idk what i was expecting from this movie but it was surprisingly better than i expected.
Although the first 2 episodes were a little bit confusing but it all came through understanding.
The acting was marvelous. But this i was really expecting from Park Min Young since she is one of my favourites female korean actors. I loved Na In Woo masculinity and his acting. But the most i loved it was that in had a really good ending with all.
The ending was ''patiently'' ended instead of quickly thrown away.
Overall i think is really worth watching it because it holds up the interest and in has no boring episodes.

A Fav Couple of ‘24! <3

I was super excited about this drama as the FL is one of my favorite Korean actresses and man, she totally slayed this role! I was impressed by the whole cast - they all did a great job bringing their characters to life. The good guys were so deserving of happiness & the somewhat grey characters had me rooting for them in the end. And the villains were absolutely horrendous & disturbed individuals who made me truly despise them so kudos to the actors for really nailing their roles!

I’m so glad this drama didn’t end up being a whopping disappointment. It exceeded my expectations & I wish I could watch it for the first time all over again! I was captivated from the first scene & it kept me invested the whole way through. Here I am writing this review a year later & I still can’t get over this amazing story. 💖

I thought the storyline & pacing flowed naturally. I was never lost on whether the scene was from the previous life or the current timeline, which sometimes happens with dramas involving “time travel” aspects. The flashback scenes all added to the story as well rather than detracting from the flow of things, which again happens at times. I often dislike stories that have multiple timelines because I feel like we spend way too much time in the past when we should be focused on the characters in the present day more, but that wasn’t the case with “Marry My Husband”. The past scenes helped bring context & clarity to the choices the Leads were making in the present, as well as provided a beautiful contrast to the bleakness of their previous lives & the inner strength they’re finding now as they take control of their destinies. So empowering to witness!

I mentioned how the villains (the FL’s husband & “bestie”) made it easy to hate them, but guys - that doesn’t adequately express just how very easy they made it. 😡 Whyyy were they so messed up?! They were so selfish & conniving, it was disgusting. As more of the bestie’s motives & truly dark obsession with the FL got exposed, the more I wanted to see her world crumble. I legit cheered each time the FL got the best of her. And then watching the Leads manipulate the husband as he became more & more twisted was equally satisfying. Watching them change fate where these two were concerned was so cathartic & healing for my soul - if they’d gotten a slight slap on the wrist or had a forgiveness scene I would’ve been so ticked at the writers, haha! And the same with the narcissistic love rival psycho from the ML’s life. Sorry, not sorry, Lady! All I can say about her ending is, “better you than him!” 😉 IYKYK.

And now I gotta briefly mention the awesome new bestie the FL makes. This girl is absolute aces. She’s one of those girls who will always fix another girl’s crown, ya know? She’s such a breath of fresh air for our FL, a true friend. She’s genuine, upbeat, quirky, & kind. She never does anything to belittle or demean the FL, but only compliments & encourages her. She heals a long-held hurt in the FL’s heart. Her presence helps give the FL the boldness & courage to stand up for herself with the toxic old bestie which is so great to witness. And, as an aside, the female co-worker who also becomes a friend is wonderful too. I loved what she brought to the story. The bonus of them both getting happy love-endings is great!

Okay, now to the Leads. I think by this point you’re aware that I adore this duo. They’re both such beautiful & pure souls, I’m never going to move on from them. Honestly, they’ll forever hold a place in my heart. They’re both such massive green flags for one another, but also for their family & friends. While they’re living their new “present” in different ways - FL resolved in changing herself for the better while the ML is focused solely on her - they obviously share the same goal: saving the FL from her previous fate. I love everything about the ways this all goes down!

The ML has been enchanted with the FL since a chance meeting in college. She disappeared before contact info was exchanged, but their encounter left a lasting impression on him. He’s a serious, introverted, & somewhat shy man, though, so when we finds her on campus later, he chooses not to make his presence known & just watches over her from afar (the cat, you guys. The cat! *swoon*) When their paths cross years later after they wind up at the same company (which is his family’s, but nobody knows that), he’s saddened to learn that she has a boyfriend. And as he mourns her loss at her funeral, you can see all his regrets weighing heavily on him. So it’s incredibly satisfying to see all the ways he steps in to protect her in this new timeline. Every single thing he does is with her best interests at heart. He’s an absolute goner for her & he’s determined she gets a happy ending this time. Watching his growth & transformation as he gets to interact with her more is such a pleasure to see - not just in his outward appearance, but in his self-confidence & character as well. The things he didn’t stand up for himself for with his grandfather before, he now stands firm in for her. *swoon* I want more ML’s to be written like him!!

The FL is absolute gold. We meet her as she’s nearing her end due to a sick body, which is heartbreaking to witness because we know the people she believes to love her are actually massively betraying her & are ultimately responsible for her death. (That scene..*sob*) This was a great way to start the story because it immediately grabs at the heart & gets the viewers invested in seeing this broken woman change her destiny. Everybody loves the underdog for a reason! And this woman is so deserving of love. She hasn’t had an easy life, unknowingly making it worse by her choice in friends. Her bestie has made her isolated & dependent on her, leading to very low self-esteem & a severely skewed image of herself. So when she gets a second chance & uses it to remove the toxicity from her life, it gives definite “I am woman, hear me roar” vibes, which I am so there for! And while she doesn’t remember meeting the ML back in college due to being drunk at the time, she’s very much drawn to him in the present. His kindness is such a contrast to what she’s experienced with her husband. He personifies that saying about how “he was healing something he hadn’t broken in the first place”.

From their first interaction in the new timeline, their chemistry is enticing. His protection of her, their eye contact & body language.. it all lets us know that their love story is going to be fantastic. And it so is! I loved every single interaction they had. Watching them become friends as they’re both influenced by one another & how their bond quickly develops & grows is so sweet. And once they realize they were both sent back in time & team up to change the FL’s destiny, their connection becomes that much more precious. Him teaching her self-defense? Seriously, she’s so freakin’ cute! The emotional scene in the water when he tells her he wants to be land (iykyk)? Gahhhh - SWOON!! When he covers her eyes to shield her from the toxic duo’s betrayal? Love it! When she confesses that while she was ice skating with her friend all she could think of was him? *sigh* precious! The sneaky touches at work? The long hugs, dates, & couch snuggles? The melt-your-screen & make-you-tingle kisses? LOOOOOOVE IT! 🔥🫠 And then we get to the grittier scenes & I’m just as enthralled with those… him taking the fatal vehicular hit instead of her? Such love! Her care while he recuperates? Such love! Every time they stand together against someone who opposes them? Such love! Then there’s the beautiful ending… The proposal, wedding, & HEA scenes? Such pure love! They make such a great pair & I’m totally envious of their bond. Honest-to-God, true couple goals.

I could rave about them forever (as evidenced by the length of this review - sorry!), but you shouldn’t just take my word for it. Push play & experience the beauty of this story for yourself. 💜

Marry My Husband is a real pleasure for the eyes!

*Storyline
Marry My Husband has a great theme of the second chance. At first, I hesitated to watch this series because I was worried about the fact that it could be dark and too dramatic. The first episode showed the life of Kang Ji Won (played by Park Min Young). She had such a pitiful life. Also, her husband and best friend were despicable. To my biggest surprise, the series had many feel-good moments and it was very addictive! There are also touching moments, like when Kang Ji Won discovered that the taxi driver in the first episode was actually…her father. I was pleased to see that the story didn’t revolve only around the villains. The ending for each villain was well-written to me and they all pay for their bad actions.

*Acting & characters
First, of course, I love Kang Ji Won portrayed by Park Min Young. It was the first time that I watched a series with Park Min Young, and I understand why she is famous. She could be funny and serious, and she is also pretty! She is very cute when she smiles! I love her smile! I also love the character Kang Ji Won itself. She was nice but she wasn’t naïve. She was rather smart towards people who wanted to hurt her.
I especially love Yoo Hui Yeon (male leader’s half-sister) portrayed by Choi Gyu Ri. She was such a carefree person, and she was like sunshine for Kang Ji Won. I love the fact that she is nice and carefree but not naïve. She could see and understand the bad intentions of Jung Soo Won towards Kang Ji Won right from the beginning.
I also like Lee Suk Joon (often called Mr. Lee in the series) portrayed by Ha Do. In the beginning of the series, he seemed to be the assistant of Yoo Ji Hyuk’s grandfather. He was more present near the end of the series. I was delighted to see the development of this character. In the beginning, he always looked calm and cold. However, he turned out to be quite interesting when it comes to Ji Huyk and his love interest Yang Joo Ran. He understood Ji Hyuk very well and he always wished the best for him. I was thankful to him because he was able to see the change in Ji Huyk and convinced the grandfather to approve Ji Won and Ji Huyk’s relationship. Ha Do Kwon did a nice job here as Mr. Lee Suk Joon. His character here reminds me of his character in “Bloody Heart” as the loyal bodyguard of the crown prince (which I also enjoyed).

*Favorite Moments
I love every time Kang Ji Won succeeded against the villains! Those moments were very satisfying and feel good! It became even better when Kang Ji Won was with Ji Huyk to fight against those evil people!
I love all the scenes of Ji Huyk and his half-sister Hui Yeon. Their interactions are very fun to watch!

*The Big Bonus in this series
I also think that the art department and the wardrobe, makeup and hair department’s crew did a wonderful job and made this series even more enjoyable. To me, it was a real pleasure for the eyes! These people made a huge difference for me. Everything was beautiful to me!
I enjoyed watching all the outfits of Kang Ji Won. I found her very cute in the beginning with long hair, glasses and conservative outfits. Later, she was very elegant with short hair and her new wardrobe. Her suits and her handbags fit her very well! Besides her, I also like how Ji Huyk was dressed. He looked handsome in all his three-piece suits.
The settings like Ji Huyk’s apartment or their office always looked neat and clean. Even if Ji Huyk’s family was very rich, nothing was too much or overboard. Everything looked just elegant.

Well written revenge drama

The drama was great. Having a very toxic friendship can also ruin a person to a greatest extend. The husband and song ha yun deserves a appreciation for sure. That woman got on my nerves so much i wanted to break the screen and beat the f out of her. Such a great actress. I saw her in fight for my way and i never knew she can act this well damn. She deserves all the popularity she’s receiving from this show. Go ahead and give this show a watch, its overall very good and i didnt really find any drag anywhere !

When life gives you a second chance, grab it and own it

Marry My Husband centers around an ill woman who receives the final blow when she learns her bestie and husband are having an affair. She dies soon after, but is given a second chance at life.

Marry My Husband makes it easy to fall in love with protagonist Kang Ji-won – and that’s already half the battle won for this K-drama. Park Min-young effortlessly portrays her as smart and kind, though not in a superficial way, but a little too naive and trusting. Yet, she’s learning from her past (or, in this case, future) mistakes and evolving as a person. Thankfully, it’s a gradual process that allows the audience space to root for Ji-won as the show progresses, while acknowledging that she can’t possibly handle it all on her own.

To that end, Ji-won is surrounded by a cast of equally charming, if fairly one-dimensional, characters. There’s her bubbly co-worker Yu Hee-yeon (Choi Gyu-ri), who gives Ji-won a makeover, well-meaning but meek assistant manager Yang Joo-ran (Gong Min-jung) and her stoic but secretly soft-hearted boss and love interest Yu Ji-hyuk (Na In-woo). They are as tropey and archetypal as K-drama characters come, but in a way that’s also their job, to not detract from who we’re all here for: Kang Ji-won. It may not be the most groundbreaking of shows, but that’s not what it’s trying to be either. This Korean drama knows it’s a guilty pleasure through and through, and embraces that wholeheartedly. There is something immensely satisfying about seeing a carefully drawn-out, deliciously manipulative revenge plan slowly but steadily unfold onscreen. It satisfies by giving the audience exactly what they want by letting Ji-won get her payback, with a handful of unexpected twists that are just enough to keep viewers running back for more.

My Rating : 8.4/10

dramatic and not that stressful

really satisfying drama since the main leads were always two steps ahead of the antagonists. if there's a bone that i'd have to pick with this drama, it would be that i don't really think na in woo was the best choice for his character. though i havent read the web novel nor the webtoon, i'm basing this off the fact that his acting didn't really shine in this drama. but anyway, if you like revenge dramas, i recommend watching marry my husband :)
