Mercy for None

광장 ‧ Drama ‧ 2025

This was a fun watch, consistently written, no crazy dumb ending, not my favourite show ever but enjoyable throughout, I gave it a solid 8/10.

One parallel that's obvious is the father son relationships of Juwoon and Bongsan respectively, but an ever richer one in my opinion was the brotherhood between Gi Jun and Gi Seok, and how it paralleled the "brotherhood" between Jun Mo and Geum Son.

Whilst they aren't blood brothers, their unique positions as heirs of the two fractured crime groups makes them step brothers in an ironic way.

Gi Jun took the blame for Gi Seok's kill eleven years ago, a show of his devotion and sacrifice to his younger brother.

Meanwhile. Geum Son effectively manipulated Jun Mo from the shadows into weakening Gi Seok so his own assassin could confirm the kill and kick of his master plan. No love lost there obviously, but I love the parallel.

Both younger brothers could likely be considered the more 'impulsive' of the relative pairs (although Gi Seok seems to have mellowed out considerably after eleven years).

It was a throughline I randomly thought of and enjoyed from noticing it.
