High School Return of a Gangster

Very satisfying story

I am not familiar with the web novel of it I heard that the original stort las BL stories on it but the production removed it thats why there are many bashers were dismayed by it. Although they remove the BL story I can tell that this series is well made and they presented a good drama.
It is the story of a old gangster whose soul is being transferred to a young teenager. The teenager experience bullying and comes to a point where he wanted to end his life because he don't want to involved in the cruelity of bullying . One day the soul of the old man Kim Deuk Pal is being transferred to the student life of Song Hi Yeon, he then took the revenge for all the bullying that he experienced in their hands. He punished them and gave them lesson.
Kim Deuk Pal whose in the body of Song Hi Yeon found a real friend in Se Kyung, they shared experiences and the pains that they had to faced. There are many hindrance with their friendship, some people don't want them together because they believed that HI Yeon ia a bad influence at Se Kyung because they think that ML rs from a gangster wherein he is the one whose being bullied.
There are many lives haa been touched by KDP lives in SHY body. One of them is his men in gangster life. He cared so much to his family and makes sure that everything is being settled.
Although they remove the BL story I still get kilig with theie gestures. They pass to be in the BL series for me hehehe.
I super like this drama for its short and direct to the point, even if its a short series but levee a big impact and learns a lof of lessons.

Rewatch value - 11 out of 10

I was hooked from the start and binge watched without initial expectations at the end - what a gem!
Just 8 episodes, could be more.
Heartwarming - I almost cried the whole 8 episode. Bromance - though bl elements were in place (hugs, support, escape to the beach and then to the motel, no hesitation to help each other).
The main thing: Im totally satisfied with the end, as there was no room for anything else. If Yi Heon returned - his life wouldnt be easy, just new difficulties : gangster resolved issues he saw, yes. However: did Yi Heon participated? Did he learnt how to deal with previous situations? No, he already gave up, and most importantly: who said it would be easy to even maintain what he would receive upon returning? It is sad, but true: from his perspective nothing has changed! He didnt resolve issues which led to suicide, and if he returned he would face new level of challenges just to maintain what Deuk Pal achieved - so technically, circumstances havent changed a lot to allow him to return and continue happy life. I would be rooting for Yi Heon return in two cases: if both could return and stay friends, or if Yi Heon actively participated in his life changes under Deuk Pal mentorship - but that will be completely different drama/scenario.
I also love humor in the drama and mature resolution of issues, without questioning or plot holes. No annoying characters or toxicity without redemption.

A Surprising Bromance with Heart and Action

This is the bromance I didn’t expect to find. The story follows a teenager, Yi Heon, who, after attempting suicide, ends up sharing his body with the soul of a gangster, Kim Deuk Pal. The premise is simple: Yi Heon transforms from a bullied, lonely young man into a popular, justice-driven student. Along the way, he forms a strong bond with Se Kyung, a fellow student who becomes determined to uncover the secret behind Yi Heon’s drastic change. The two, both from abusive households, provide each other with much-needed friendship and support.

I honestly didn’t expect this to turn into such a heartfelt bromance. I initially thought it would be a typical drama about a “loser” reclaiming his life, but instead, it highlights how Yi Heon finds people who truly care about him. As the plot develops (within the constraints of 8 episodes), Yi Heon discovers he’s the illegitimate son of a wealthy chairman from a construction company, and a secretary schemes to take the place of the chairman’s wife. Along the way, Yi Heon encounters Kim Deuk Pal’s old acquaintances, leading to action-packed moments and misunderstandings.

Overall, it's a light, enjoyable series—a perfect break between longer or more emotionally intense dramas. While I would have loved more episodes to dive deeper into the friendship between Yi Heon and Se Kyung, the 8-episode format makes sense. The production and acting are solid, and Yoon Chan Young, whom I’ve been following since his breakout role on Netflix, continues to choose interesting projects that blend action with complex characters. I’ll be keeping an eye on his future roles.

Brilliant show but sad it was without a BL

I was wondering if I should watch it or not. A.s a lot of people i heard about the controversy since the creators decided to put the BL aspect out of this show. I do not agree with this. One would say I was also at the crossroad because I didn’t want to support something that deliberately took out an important part of the story out, especially when it comes to LGBTQ+ topics since I always try to support them, so it took me a while to make a decision to watch it.But I also have to admit that the execution of the show was amazing. I really enjoyed it from the beginning till the end.. And honestly, I also loved the Bromance part, I always love a good Bromance, but I still feel sad about it.
