Tokyo in April is.. is a Japanese BL series that is about Kazuma and Ren who have been friends for a very long time now but they have been separated when they had sex for the very first time with each other. I am not sure if I was able to relay that information correctly but they had sex but things turned awry so Ren developed fear of hurting Kazuma so much but little did he know is that even though he thought that Kazuma is not in love with him, Kazuma looked at him and wanted to really be with him. This is why when they met again, Kazuma easily agreed to be friends with benefits with Ren even though he just really wanted to be with him forever. This is an intense BL story and I think that they did not get enough credit with this one because it tackled very dark themes that needs to be talked about more often than not. The relationship of Ren and Kazuma is complicated and it is a bit darker than usual because there are themes like suicide, sexual assault, and more involved but what I love about this is that they handled it in a different way. They did not make light of it or disregard it immediately but what they is to show how important it is to have someone that you can rely on in moments that you need them. Their relationship is mostly shown in amazing montage of them staying at home being so sweet to each other. The chemistry of these two is pretty good. I love the scenes where they were just being sweet with each other. These scenes are the best parts of the show because it is giving the characters a good time to breath and be sweet with each other but, at the same time, it is giving the audience a chance to have moments with them and just invest with the relationship that we are seeing. This made us root for them so much more which I love so much. I love Ren and Kazuma and I seriously wanted them to be end game because of this. This is why when the story started to tackle the themes that we have, I was already invested with the relationship and wanted them to be together. I really do. The scene where Kazuma learned what really happened to Ren and the way that he responded to it somehow gave me so much hope that Ren will now have someone who will be there for him and will love him no matter what. It is just a beautiful moment. I am not sure why but it felt so romantic to see Kazuma finally fight for Ren after everything that Ren had to go through, he now has someone who he can rely on and loves him no matter what. This is why I fell in love with what ending. It is such a strong ending to a simply beautiful story.

Dissapointments All Around

**Brief Synopsis**
B (Employee): Kazuma
T (Employee): Ren

- Beginning: B and T are childhood best friends but fell apart and lost contact for 10 years. T was B’s first love and T is in love with B. T tries to remain friendly and impartial but one night, they ended up sleeping together. This changes the nature of their relationship.

- Middle: After that night, they became friends with benefits because neither of them want this intimacy to end. Despite being friends with benefits, they begin living together, spending all their free time together, acting like real lovers. B is just happy to be with T, no matter what their relationship is.

- End: After going through a series of challenges at work, the series ends with T finally confessing his feelings to B and expressing his worries that B will one day leave him. B reassures him he will not leave.

**My Opinion**

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT IT:
- There aren’t much angst, mostly because the show is so short. B and T never breaks up or misunderstand each other. Any worries are talked out.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE ABOUT IT:
- The show is only 8 episodes and yet seemed to touch upon many deep topics that were quickly introduced and quickly resolved. For a short show like this, I feel it’s better to concentrate on the relationship side of things. As for the relationship, I feel we didn’t have enough time to get to know these two, no build ups, no tensions, no reasons why they fell for each other. Under these circumstances, it’s really difficult to root them on.
- The flashbacks doesn’t seem to help me understand the couple at all. And there are way too many flashbacks and they can come out of no where.
- The acting is just plain sometimes, as if the actors were just reading off a script instead of acting out the scene. The directing is just weird sometimes and the lighting and cinematography is just subpar.
- The lack of chemistry between the actors. I don’t know why, it just doesn’t feel intimate or romantic. In the last scene, when B went to kiss T, I saw the latter shrink away a few times. I don’t know if it’s intentional or not, but it just feels weird between lovers who love each other very much. There is a lack of intimate scenes, which I accept, but the kissing scenes just feel off.
- Usage of miscommunication or misunderstanding as reason for best friends to lose contact for all these years is just so cliche.

**Conclusion**
It’s a very short show that I didn’t like.

Deeply imprinted

There's a lot of TW in this drama. So beware. TW: sexual harassment, sexual assault.

I really deeply imprinted with this drama. There's a lot of issues that this drama brings up. Shitty coworker, shitty boss. But apart from that, the love story.

I am really moved by their love story, that's why it keep playing in my mind, and that's why I give 1 star to rewatch value, you don't need to rewatch it, it's ingrained in my brain actually. I keep thinking about this drama way past it's due. The need to protect the one you love, even the world around you turn against you. The need to protect each other.

And the soundtrack, the ending soundtrack is really one of my favorite of all time now.

I am really a sucker for drama like this. If you like love story with a journey, give this a watch.

Authentic ans simple

That's a type of history that catch you at the first seconds and makes you heart cry for more, it's one most beautiful stories that I watch in 2023, in producion they do a good job that you see they really was engaged and not justing drop a new series, the acting was so good, like at all. All the actors did a good job, the main, the lead, the support every act add a layer to this so well tought out drama. They really makes me interest in read the mangá and for sure I will. The only weak point was the soundtrack, if they add just one strong song I would give a ten. The rewatch value is 10 for sure. I will comeback and I want more.

Extremely realistic & enjoyable BL

After reading some of the reviews that did not give high marks, I was kind of surprised how truly enjoyable & great this drama turned out to be. This series was more than just fantastic, it was so realistic and dealt with real life cause & effect after what happened to these two characters, Kazuma and Ren years earlier. It showed how mental scars from traumatic events sometimes don't heal with time, but rather worsen if not addressed, and cause so many other things to fall out of place.
When we eventually find out what happened after Kazuma goes to the hospital, you can understand why it was such a heart wrenching ten years for both of them.
Yuki Sakurai & Aloha Takamatsu and so perfectly matched up, you can almost feel the chemistry coming off of them onto the screen. Their performances are extraordinary with emotion, giving us extremely powerful scenes, not to mention the pairing of the younger versions of them also doing an exceptional job in showing us their past relationship and how things transpired a decade earlier.
Great acting & great writing!
As they tell each other in the last scene of the series " You're my everything, you're my life, you're my Tokyo in April"
They leave no doubt that they will now both enjoy a happy life together!

La mejor forma de retratar los traumas

AME esta serie como ninguna otra. La forma en como las luces juegan un papel super esencial en la historia y las escena, es maravilloso como la escenografia te lleva a sentir la historia de forma muy intima y parte de ella.
La forma tan verdadera como retrataron las consecuencias de las relaciones sexuales a TAN temprana edad fue maravillosa y que cualquier persona que paso o presenció algo asi, se puede identificar facilmente. Por ejemplo el flashback donde despues de terminar todo Kazuma comienza a llorar, es algo que ocurre mucho en esa situaciones, donde la persona siente que perdió algo muy importante o siente que la otra persona perdió algo muy importante, que fue lo que sintió Kazuma en el final. Tambien como adicionaron las consecuencias en los ataques de ansiedad que sentia Ren al tener relaciones con otras personas.
Al final me entregaron una obra perfecta de traumas y superaciones personales maravillosa.
Si pudiera criticar algo seria el papel de la mamá de Kazuma ya que según ella misma "no estaba molesta por ellos dos ser hombres sino por, lo que hicieron cuando eran niños" fueron sus palabras al final cuando acepto la relacion de los dos, pero, por que trato tan mal a Ren cuando el estaba con la camisa de su hijo? Para protegerlo? Puede ser, pero se sintio un poco extraño que despues de esa pequeña discusion ella magicamente aceptara todo.

Ame!!

Sin duda una serie demasiado linda, que me hacia suspirar a cada segundo y tuvo un poco de todo, despertó muchas emociones la verdad, pase de estar super contenta a molesta y enojada con la vida por las cosas que tuvieron que pasar los protas.

La verdad la serie me sorprendió bastante, no esperaba muchas de las cosas que pasaron, la decidí ver porque a una amiga le encanto y de paso estaba aburrida en el trabajo, pero la verdad me gusto mucho, si hay cosas que pueden mejorar de la serie y que se pudieron contar mejor, pero la verdad me gusto el resultado total, no creo que hayan dejado cabo suelto en la serie, resolvieron los problemas que plantearon, quizás una cosita me hubiera encantado ver y era quizás a la Ren hablando con su "familia" pero de ahí en mas todo estuvo bien.

LA recomiendo? si, es linda, te transmite mucho y te deja deseando que los portas siempre sean felices, porque lo merecen. Espero y la vean, no se van arrepentir, quizás lo único que lamentara es que necesitan mas capítulos de ellos siendo felices XD. Y les dejo un pequeño y gracioso spoiler del cap final por si ya la leyeron o quieren saber porque me reí tanto en ese momento.

Spoiler: hay una escena que ame, y es en el capitulo final cuando se besan en la calle, nos muestran dos punto de vista, uno es el de ellos en su burbuja que están inmersos el uno del otro, y el otro es de las personas que están en la calle viendo a dos chicos tirados en el suelo balándose, me pareció realmente gracioso y ademas lógico, ya que aunque no nos importe lo que pase, el mundo sigue corriendo y creo que fue muy divertido ver esa escena así.
