The Rebound (2024)

Note: this recommendation is NOT a BL but it is for basketball lovers (funnily enough it’s the same name too)

It is a somewhat similar premise in that it is about a washed up basketball player back to coach a basketball team who doesn’t have the funding or the players to play but they must persevere and overcome to make it to the championship games. Some scenarios are very similar and appears to have inspired the Thai show (The Korean one is based on a true story)

Both shows are BL dramas about sports. FC Soldout is a Korean BL about a soccer team with 3 couples while The Rebound is a Thai BL about a basketball team with 1 main couple.

Both are Thai BL dramas about a basketball team with the main BL couple having a friends (or ex-friends) to lovers plot.

Some similarities:
- gay romance with a focus on basketball
- forming a basketball team and participating in competitions
- the two main characters know each other from before, but have spent some time apart until they unexpectedly meet again
- interesting secondary characters who are important to the plot
- often a more serious and tense atmosphere
- nice cinematography and background music, no distracting sound effects

Some differences:
- You're My Sky is set in university
- The Rebound is set in high school
- The Rebound focuses not only on the high school basketball club, but also on "underground" basketball, where gangsters are involved and bets are made

Both shows are BL dramas about sports. A Perfect Match is a Taiwanese BL about a pair of tennis players that becomes a couple while The Rebound is a Thai BL about a basketball team with 1 main couple.

They have the same main actors as the main couple. They also have the same vibe when it comes to their characters personalities (at least Ping’s characters) Both his character Nhai and his character now are both naive and not sure on things happening in their life.

Once again they have the same main actors as the main couple, once again their characters are somewhat similar. Especially Mean’s characters this time. Both Mean’s character Thiu from my dear gangster oppa and his character now are both involved in illegal activities mixed with obvious action and both characters have a hard time getting out of their bad habits. Pings characters are just usually similar no matter what he’s acting in (out of these two’s 3 BL’s) they are usually naive and see the world as non harmful to himself, they also can react strongly towards Mean’s characters.
This is their second BL which is pretty different from their first one.

The Rebound is set in an upper schooling aka high school setting where Our Days is set in college / university setting.

Both are sports themed BL, both have basketball, both have leads that are hesitant to admit their feelings.
