My fav drama from 2023; Nojima Shinji is back with a bang!

A stellar combination of mystery + romance + psychological + slice of life.

First off, Nojima Shinji is one of my favourite screenwriters and I hate to admit that some of his works in the recent years have been underwhelming especially when we compare to the gems he wrote in the 90s and 2000s.

I don't generally write reviews but I got inspired to write this review because I loved this drama so much and want more people to see it.

What makes this drama so good -

(1) the screenplay; the way the story unfolds keeps you on the edge of your seat till the last scene. Trust me, you won't know where it is going.
(2) the story - it is original, it is creative, it is edgy. Once you start, you will find yourself binging it all the way.
(3) the writing; the sensitivity and care with which the characters and their relationships are written. I could see Nojima Shinji has evolved because this wasn't as dark, and there was a healing element to it (something most of his dramas lack)
(4) the acting - each cast member was perfectly casted.
(5) the romance - again, not your typical romance. But some of the scenes between the leads got me squealing. In the case of this drama 'less is more' really worked.

Everything about it is good. The only reason I gave it a 9.5 is because I do wish we got a little more of the leads' at the end. I wanted more of them. Hoping we'll get a special on them, though I doubt :(

For those who want to watch something different, don't hesitate to give this gem a try!

Didn't expect it to be that good!!

This dorama is so underrated. The plot twists kept coming up, and I felt like I wanted to watch it all in one sitting. The story is great, and the comedy type suits me as well.
I really like how the main character's personality developed.
Also, I LOVED the art panels, and I kept waiting for them to come up because they were so good.

Riveting story-telling and brilliant dialogues

Brilliant storytelling and the twists and turns take you by surprise - by the time half the drama rolled around I wasn't quite sure where it's heading. I do like that none of the twists was really "shocking", they're rather mundane daily life things. As a drama, it was very entertaining to watch and you're always either on the edge of your seat or LOL'ing at Kumon Ryuen's inner hikikomori speaking out.

I do wish the romance here went in a different direction, or maybe if the romance unfolds more slowly and in a different manner I would have preferred it more. Overall, it lacks those emotional punches that make it a must watch in my book, but still very worthwhile entertainment. Nojima Shinji's dialogues are brilliant and the acting is solid all around.

Good Enough

Japanese Drama '' Nanyobi ni Umareta no '' is a healing drama.

The story, though a bit quirky, has a sensitive and emotional story, with the main lead finding peace and the power to move on. The relationship between her and her father was also sweet and their dynamics spot on.

The mystery of the past was also interesting to follow and offered some suspense. The closure of it brought peace to all the characters and it was nice to see our main girl rediscovering friendship and having fun.

The mystery of Agatha, moreover, gave her a chance to show her progress and her character development.

On the other hand, the romance was the drama's weakest point. It was half baked and underdeveloped, easily omitted from the plot.

The performances, finally, were all enjoyable.

So, overall, seven out of ten.
